Jimmy is in touch with things no one should seek. Heroin. Truck with demons. Remove those things. There are really old musics from the Celts that are like this song. Then there is his raw talent and heritage. Then there is the time and place where it was written. All of these things come into play. A person living in modern day Syria could not make up a place like Rivendell. The flavor would be all wrong.
Dear Mr. Shanahan, I am 65 years old. I heard Jimmy Page play that version of it in Seattle in 1970. It has been in my mind almost every day of my life. That being the only live recording since Blueberry Hill, I never figured out the tuning, much less the actual fingerlings. After 45 years of thinking and listening to it, and it being my favorite guitar solo, Little Martha being second and easy to play, well, I broke down when I saw this, never thought I'd be able to ever play Bron yr aur. I have shared this with my still living guitar friends, and they are all knocked out, some never even hearing it at all on Physical Graffiti. I am now terribly disabled, unable to even walk for more than 5 minutes. So for a shut in this hit me hard, I am still learning it from you and am almost there. When I tried to explain the harmonics part, no-one really got me. Now they know I wasn't kidding. After 45 years of talking about it, here it is. THANK YOU, Sir. I have had a huge life, and now that I am unable to be involved with most of life, well, this puts a cap on it. SJ
i cant believe... when you play that harmonics as Jimmy Page did in that beautiful live version of BRON YR AUR. Probably BEST COVER of this song. congratulations
This song touch the soul like nothing else Ive ever heard, just completely beautiful from the first note to the last. This will be played at my funeral. Jimmy Page is incredible and is my alltime favorite guitarist.
Just beautiful! I never heard this particular version before. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written and you performed it beautifully ❤
Absolutely Beautiful!!! The Cliche' "Music to My Ears" is literally so true when hearing this Amazing Song written by the Great Jimmy Page! Perfect cover of The Most Beautiful Guitar Instrumental ever.
@@DougShanahanMusic Those harmonic picks ive been battling with for years & i ws doing it wrong :D NO ONE on You Tube covers the harmonic picks m8 & i could try all day & not nail it once ,in fact the ONLY version with picks on You Tube - is the live show from 1975 i think ,Kudos m8 its awesome
I am so glad this older version is coming to light once again. I've only heard it once or twice before and I absolutely love it. A beautiful cover version. Thank you!
Really well done! One of very favorite pieces of music ever written. Will be played at my funeral. I hope Jimmy has seen this at some point. Quite certain he’d be impressed.
Ok .. I have been so addicted to this guitar solo piece by JP that I am listening this in a loop for last one year. Yet more I listen to this the more beautiful it gets and very calming and a bit of tense feeling that keeps you loving this guitar artwork. And hands down Doug, you have played it so beautifully that You got a huge huge respect of mine. You're a legend.
An extraordinary cover - you make it look almost effortless. Perfect tone, timing, dynamics, the additional sections sound like they've always been there, in short, a masterful performance. It's enough to make you believe that given enough time and practice, an ordinary human being could play it! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Only a few people really acknowledge the harmonics part and for me, that was the magic there, I've seen a different version of it and by far this is the perfect replica! 2022 and still listening to it!
Simply the best cover I’ve ever seen. Masterfully played. This is my favorite guitar solo of all time…and you nailed it. Simply awesome! I hope to one day learn to play this. I’m just getting started with guitar lessons, and this here is my ultimate goal. Thank you for sharing this.
🎶"..Do you hear what I hear?"🎶 I'm humble-shocked, at what I just listened-to and watched being played. You are amazingly-gifted, I bow-down. I have loved that 'spiritual feeling' solo, since I was a Child. (; I closed my eyes, and dare-not think, I was listening-to "James Patrick Page", it didn't work. In fact, I've never heard better. You're the "King" of, 'Control & Melodious'. Why are you, hiding in the shadows?🤔You must be a session player? You are a Master-Musician, for sure. I still have the chills. I had to wipe-away a tear. Thanks for playing-it forward, you are a humanitarian. Stay well, in these trying' times. 🇨🇦✌🏻🎶🎸♥️✨🌍💫

Yes! This is exactly what I need. I've been trying to learn this song for weeks, but the differences among UA-cam tutorials thwart my progress. Your demo is an invaluable resource -- a Rosetta Stone. It's the perfect visual aid because you play the song the way I hear Jimmy Page did. Thank you!
Great cover! I LOVE the addition you put in with the harmonics!!! I'm re-learning this one (again) but with some additions of my own now. Thanks for the inspiration!
Best cover I have ever heard. I would have thought it was actually JP himself if I was blindfolded…but then we never see a face in the vid. Lol Amazing!
Beautiful absolutely beautiful I remember this acoustic piece when I was a kid around 12 years old in 1970 but then it was put on the album Physical Graffiti which was released in 1975 until this day I love this acoustic piece
Perfection, I love the part of the movie the Song Remains the Same when they're in the car heading towards Madison Square Garden and this song is playing, it's one of my favorite Zep tunes and you executed it to perfection, I tip my hat to you! Thanks so much for sharing.
Hello, Doug Shanahan. It's been four years since I posted. Since then I have found and listened closely to 5 live recordings pf Jimmy Page doing this. In a couple he goes into some wild land of his imagination, but the original is still the best. I've since learned it from you (not as cleanly) but have also forgotten most of it. Someone gave me a like under comments about you. I just came back to hear it again and it is a musically life altering as it was when I first heard you play it. I have to say, Jimmy's versions are wonderful, but he always misses a note or two, or fumbles a little on the harmonics. All credit to the composer, but no one, ever, comes close to how perfect you play it. This is how he wrote it, this is how I first heard him play it, perfectly, just like you. You play this better than anyone in the world. I believe Jimmy would agree. Again, thank you. 4 years later and you still spellbind me every time. - SJ
The music is mesmerizing and takes me to a beautiful place I've created, my peaceful home by the ocean. Absolutely stunning. Thank you! Wishing you Peace, Harmony and Love.
How in the hell does someone sit down and come up with a song like this, not in my dreams could I come up with something so good.
Them British musicians were something else

Prob sitting on a hill in the fields experimenting with tuning. Also page is just a guitar god.
I would imagine by studying the playing of Bert Jansch and Davy Graham, amongst others. It IS good.
