I was really surprised they didn't already do that when they opened SWGE and shutdown the launch bay in Tomorrowland since it would only take them 1 night to move the ride show films over to the new land. Building a brand new land with only 2 rides when they had the space to add more was really dropping the ball since Star Tours proved they didn't need a large space to house a popular attraction.

I would love it if they brought Carousel of Progress here but I know that will never happen. I love that ride so much. Also - TRON. So much weird, empty, unused space in Tomorrowland. It definitely needs a big time overhaul.

I love the retro-futurism, it's probably my favorite thing about Tomorrowland. They need to bump it up to 11, honestly. Never enough of that aesthetic.

I wish they gave Space Mountain's stations that treatment, give it a more 70s Sci fi vibe to it. A more mysterious and slight horror feel to it. Space is full of the unknown, that's why people fear it so much! The original audio perfectly encapsulated it! I mean, how can you not love this audio!?

Surf Mountain is by far my favorite version of Space Mountain. The new space-age bachelor pad music is too laid back for a coaster compared to the fast picking in surf rock. Also all the thermin is perfect for the retro sci-fi vibe of the coaster

Disneyland Peoplemover lasted 28 years. It was also closed 28 years ago in 1995. It’s astonishing that a company that prides itself in quality, like Disney, would allow its rotting carcass to exist in the wide open for that long. Just sayin.

The new lighting for the exterior of Space Mountain reminds me of the Petetronic Fight in Epic Mickey. The way the blues, reds and yellows are utilized just reminds me of that.

A little bit of extra credence to your theory: On the Disneyland calendar, there is a scheduled refurb for Astro Orbitor at the end of the month for an unspecified amount of time. Looks like it’s gonna be a substantial one too, since it’s looking like it won’t open until at LEAST January. What could they be doing…?
They have to take the whole thing apart to replace worn parts about every year or two, so, it could be that!

No, how about they do a Wall-E attraction that replaces Star Tours and have a new ride system that is trackless but also is attached to a mechanical arm like Forbidden Journey. Allowing the ride vehicle to tilt and move forward at different speeds. It doesn’t have to be a sequel, it could just retell the movie but with an enhanced experience.

I'd love a Tomorrowland face-lift. I used to love Tomorrowland, but now I hardly ever go there except to sit down.
I really think they should take all the Star Wars stuff out, since they have their own land.
Wall-E would be a great theme for something!
Taking a cue from Tokyo Disney's Space Mountain I would totally redesign Disneyland's and WDW's Space Mountain both (internally and externally). Design the ride in a way similar to Star Wars Rise of the Resistance by combining two rides ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter as the ride Queue and the Preshow. Then the Ghost Galaxy overlay as the main ride using the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind OmniCoasters.
It would be great if Disneyland Tomorrowland maintained that 60s mid-century futurism look, albeit updated with projection mapping while WDW updated to the Shanghai/Tokyo Tomorrowland, seeing as how they decided to drop Tron there. 😊

I’m glat that at Magic Kingdom they removed the Eisner era cartoonish steampunk overlay for Tomorrowland and restored it to its 1970s glory. Oh and I’m also glad they have the Peoplemover. It’s my favorite ride in MK.
Honestly the one thing I feel Tomorrowland could really benefit from is removing Autopia. I know I'm probably gonna get on peoples nostalgia nerves for this but the attraction is very sorely outdated, and not futuristic anymore in the slightest. Especially now with developments and futuristic predictions being very much anti car. Plus Autopia, like real life car infrastructure, takes up a huge amount of space in the park. The real question is what could you replace it with? One idea I have could be a revival of a speedy little rocket rods style ride, but floating. A little magnetically levitating speed ride if thats possible. It'd be quite expensive to operate, especially if going with superconductivity, but it'd certainly be very futuristic and be a beacon of that for several decades.
Discoveryland of Disneyland Paris was a brilliant idea. Timeless, a future that would be awesome if it could exist but probably won’t. The whole steampunk aesthetic is perfect. That’s what the Disney parks in the USA need to do.
I want them to change the red neon lighting underneath the people mover at Disney World to LED so they can change it to whatever color they want to and have it chasing, etc.
Star Tours can be built behind the First Order Cargo shop in Galaxy's Edge and its current location can house the Avatar Experience that Iger mentioned in Feb.
my ideas for Tomorrow Land
1. Time Travel ride
2. reuse the technology from the failed Star Cruiser hotel in a new way
3. Size change ride
4. use or make more Sci-Fi IPs
5. Under water ride but the water is fake
6. Steam Punk or cyber punk area
7. some thing fast but also very open like that Jet pack idea or maybe an other similar thing
8. keep one ride where you go in side a thing and it takes off from your home state and gets higher and higher and breaks orbit.
9. Some thing with drones and robots
10. some sort of illusion that makes things fly threw the sky
Ok, here are my 4 ideas to update Tomorrowland without gutting the whole thing (on the cheap).
1st- Paint everything White again, enhanced by lighting & chrome accents.
2nd- Enclose Astro Orbiters in a sphere at the entrance. Call it Astros Jr Space Mountain. Fill it with projections to thrill the kiddos who can't ride Space Mountain.
3rd- On top of the unusable People Mover track construct a power source tube like structure on top of the track lighted with pulsating movement over the visible track from the entrance to the loop in the center of Tomorrowland. Think Particle Accelerator/Collider type visuals.
4th- Take either Buzz Blasters or Carousel of Progress building & create a Webb Telescope journey thru deep space dark ride with screens & imagery.
As an astronomy nerd, I like number 4, it sounds very interesting.
Good idea! If the tracks can't be taken down easily, USE THEM to add some literal energy to the park! Tubes of LED pulsing with travelling light would be fantastic!
Astro Orbiter is closing for an extended refurb. I have a feeling that it is part of this new tomorrowland thing. Or dare I say it, maybe its so they can finally fix the entrance. But yeah. November 27th Astro Orbiter will close for the rest of the year I believe. Because it may be closed all of December too. Unless it reopens on december 31st or something. But yeah they will be doing something with it
As a Disneyland regular I actually like star tours more than Smuggler run by a lot so no I wouldn’t want star tours to get replaced it’s actually the second best ride in Tomorrowland behind space mountain obviously
God let's hope so! After many years, I stopped hoping for a Tomorrowland announcement since at least 2020. Like you said, it'd be great if we get _some_ bigger change compared to the minor cosmetic ones. They should start with the Innoventions or theater / arcade building. Can't believe those have been sitting there for so many years with no attractions!

Speaking of those empty buildings... Out in Tokyo, SEGA runs an indoor theme park called Joypolis and I wonder if some of their machines couldn't be fitted into one of those empty buildings? They're a mix of thrill ride and simulators and they even have an indoor spinning coaster that gets faster the better you are at a rythm game and they have this competitive pendulum ride. I think an indoor area with micro attractions would help the attraction density of the park and indoor area in the summer or when it's raining would be appreciated.
Disney already stated that the next BIG construction project after they finish SWGE and Avengers Campus would be New Tomorrowland. Now they didn't clarify if by Avengers Campus if they meant just phase 1 which is already completed or if we have to wait for phase 2 since they already remodeled ToonTown. When they brought in the structural engineer to walk the land it was determined the old People Mover track can't be fixed and the Submarine show building was built to be stronger than a bomb shelter so it's going to be difficult to remove but Disney did tell them only things they want to keep in the land would be Spacemountain, Monorail, and the Disneyland Railroad with Matterhorn being absorbed into Fantasyland as part of the Fantasyland expansion and the rest of Tomorrowland is slated to be removed so they were told their best option would to bulldoze the land aside from what they want to keep and start fresh since the Submarine/Autotopia footprint which partially will become the Fantasyland expansion makes up the largest portion of the land already. With the old Inoventions building being the same size footprint as Spacemountain that means if they opt to fully remove the People Mover tracks from inside the buildings also they could relocate Spacemountain in that spot while giving it a big update or even go for a double track and build the entrance to be located between the 2 buildings while constructing a second track so they can double the ride capacity per hour and then only have to think of what to place on the Startours, Plaza Inn, Buzz Lightyear and Submarine/Autotopia portion of the land while giving the Disneyland Railroad and Monorail better footpath options so people can easily find and get to and from them while the land is crowded, current layout people either can't find their paths or get through them due to the Submarine and Autotopia queues.

Well there's this movie that came out in June of 2023 (atleast in the US) where there's a scene with a bunch of inexperienced space cadets and one professional are in a "bad guys chase us in a space movie and we try to fly away" style chase and for reasons I forget they could only use the ship's stearing thrusters so they're barely hovering off the ground while going (what atleast looks like) Super fast, and in this chase while right next to the ground the ship needs to dodge GIANT ERUPTIONS OF LAVA GEYSERS! all the exileration of the scene gave me this idea that "I would love for this to be a themepark ride but tomorrow land already has a space flight/fight simulator and buzz" so if...

they do a Tomorrowland revamp and want to keep the Star Tours ride and mayyyyyyybe give the "Star Wars themed simulator that has different Star Wars property themed storylines" title over to Galaxy's Edge I would be happy if they realised NON-ACTION FIGURE BUZZ LIGHTYEAR AND ALL THE THE SCI-FI THRILL OF THAT UNIVERSE IS RIGHT THERE!

I think something like a Zamperla NebulaZ could be cool where the Observatron is now. The extra elevation above the main concourse would make it a little more thrilling and still accessible to many guests.
I just spent the weekend at DL and was looking at the People Mover tracks that were visible. As a structural engineer there were no serious issues I noticed on the portions that I could see. There may be portions that may be damaged that I did not see or they have patched and painted where the issues were. I however call BS on their excuse that the track is damaged. Even if it were they can use FRP(carbon fiber) to repair anything.

7:49 it’s ridiculous they still add new scenes to Star Tours yet when it comes to Smuggler’s Run getting new missions…crickets. They supposedly made the levels in Unreal already. I’m worried that just like TSMM, Smugglers Run will never be updated, even though the attraction is designed to be. Even Knott’s updated their TrioTech dark ride!

I have zero faith in modern Disney. I literally grew up in Disneyland, my dad worked there 40 years. It's all gone downhill under Bob Iger. The last great Imagineer Joe Rohde left, and modern Imagineers only want to put their stamp (more like graffiti) on pre-existing attractions that superior Imagineers created (Pirates, Haunted Mansion). Granted Cars Land was the last great land created, but that is largely because John Lassiter, who is also gone.
The empty Carousel building and empty People Mover tracks makes me so… sad. The land is so empty minus Space Mountain
I wanna know: what actually is the problem with the PeopleMover tracks at DL? I’m sure they’re filthy but that can be cleaned. The standing tracks that are visible seem fine. Are they crumbling somewhere? Is there an unstable section? What is keeping them from updating and restoring a ride that already has bones? (Oh, and I believe the original entrance has been blocked off now)

I bet the bean counters read the spreadsheet loud and clear when Space Mountain was down for a couple months - the amount of money that must have cost must have been massive.
A full-fledged Avatar land (not just an experience) should go into DCA. That park needs all the help it can get. The remaining parking lot from DCA 1.0, which is to the east of the other parking lot of DCA 1.0 (& which eventually became Car's Land), could be one location.

Avatar will more likely be built on Disneyland Forward (Simba parking lot). They never build new lands on existing land. It’s always on virgin undeveloped land. That’s why Galaxy’s Edge wasn’t built in Tomorrowland despite the rumors.

I hate that Tomorrowland 1967 was removed, but I think that the best thing for Disneyland Tomorrowland is to tear down everything other than Space Mountain and put the Tron ride in. I think that's what young people would enjoy the most.

The Astro Orbiter is going on the Disneyland refurbishment calendar beginning December 4th and it’s going to be down at least a month (calendar only shows to 1/6 right now). At the very least I hope they make the rockets a little easier to get in and out of.

They need to rework Tomorrowland so it harmonizes better with Space Mountain. It's the focus of the land and it should be the main theme. The Astro Orbiter is kind of an eyesore that just doesn't match IMO. Make it more white and angular, add some spikey spires...
If they don't want to repair the people mover they should just add planters with hanging plants on there or add a lighting package.
As for the carousel building, maybe they should do the whole space restaurant thing they have at DisneyWorld. It's big enoguh for that right?
My personal idea will be an alien encounter or an alien prison. I know Disney World did that and failed at one point, but maybe make it less scary and more of a thrilling ride. I really just want aliens in the park since the only aliens we gotten, are the toy story aliens.

Walt Disney World's Space Mountain needs to have the Disneyland makeover bad! I do not understand why they have not updated it yet. It needs the seats with the music in the headrest and projections.
Disneyland does not need the Astro Obiter and Dumbo. They're the same ride. Just get rid of the Astro Orbiter.
