As someone who first went to Orlando in 2012 (Second time in America, I'm Brit), where I think they had shut it down for Frozen by that point, is it worth me looking up a likely-potato quality video of the ride?
@@disneygirl5577 Yeah, I read that something was Potato Quality (and yet better than actual expensive camera quality) when a show was filmed and I've used it ever since XD
Yes I definitely recommend a trip to Norway! It is indeed a life changing experience and there are traditional troll statues everywhere down there! I remember going with my grandparents when I turned 18, and it was amazing! We went to visit my cousins in Oslo and the sites were beautiful, the people were very happy and very welcoming! 😊
That people mover photo op is savage of disney, I cannot believe they would physically bully us by acknowledging that people want the people mover back. Anyways, DISNEY bring the Thunder Mesa land to real life and maybe y'know bring back the people mover as well.
I loved seeing the interpretation of the three- headed troll and having Seidr (magic) cast over the boat so it would be cast out of their bog. I'm glad I had a chance to experience it before Frozen trampled it out of existence.
One other little thing about Mt. Prometheus at Disney Sea... the queue line for Journey to the Center of the Earth winds through it, and you can see all kinds of neat things in the rock walls if you look. Also... because the line is long there are water fountains in it, but at one point there's a fountain that's been engulfed by spilling lava so you can't use it! (There's another one just down the way, though.)
To add on to your wilderness lodge fun fact, with the rock work going up, if you go up to the different floors they have display cases with artifacts from the era of the coordinating sediment layer
Did you know that they recently had a Disney exposition at the Franklin Institute. Idk of they still have it, but they had a lot of really valuable and rare Disney artifiacts there, such as audio animatronics and the FIRST SKETCH OF MICKEY MOUSE !!!
I tend to look at Disneyland as a large architectural digest of visual immersion. The details are crucial, at least from my point of view, at enhancing the imagery that remains consistent at every Disney theme park.
Fun fact, they brought my dad and some of his work friends in to get geological references for the Grand Canyon. They never got recognition for it, but they consulted for it.
That little scripture in the Norway pavilion is NOT the only Maelstrom relic. The entire Norway pavilion is hugely themed to Maelstrom as it was when Maelstrom was around. I’ve noticed that the only change to the Norway pacific when Frozen came in was the ride itself and the gift shop. Everything else is still viking and trolls.
I miss Malestrom :( it was my entire childhood. Norway i think was my favorite pavilion besides France. I also miss the trolls and the authentic Norwegian stuff they sold.
The removal of Maelstrom to me marked the beginning of the fall of all the Disney parks. Haven't been back since 2009 and never will again. The pricing is too outrageous for any middle class family anyway.
California native here who goes with his kids and family at least once a year to Disneyland. We will be going to Disney World for a week in May, and I will be riding the people mover. Can’t wait, it’s been years since I rode that as a kid.
Funny that you bring up trees blocking firework viewing, cuz I got stuck behind the one tree in the hub in Magic Kingdom when I went a few weeks back. Crammed in Casey’s Corner, not the best time but HOLY crap it was so fun to visit Disney again for the first time in 12 years.
On my visit to WDW Tom Sawyers Island in 1976, it was my "Diagon Alley". I spent most of my day there. I will leave it to your "offhandedness" to fill in the blanks as to why that was...
Last time I ate in Via Napoli, our waitress said that they get the water for the pizza dough shipped out from Hershey, Pennsylvania because it’s the closest pH level in America to the pH level in Italy!
For thrown together at the last minute, this was a very nice video that was just entertaining enough to keep me company while I curled my hair! Thanks for the great videos on your channel!
That is a very nice little Easter egg they put down for those who actually got to experience maelstrom. However for those of younger generations like me, who grew up in a very norwegian American family. I am very passionate about doing things traditionally. And it makes me very sad that I will never be able to experience the traditional norwegian trolls they had in maelstrom or the ride itself. 😩 And for those of you who say there are still trolls in the frozen ride. Those are not norwegian trolls. They are heavily American-ized and while they are fun for American children and families who don't know traditional trolls it takes away the true experience of something new and different.
I recommend you make one called "Top 10 Disney Facts That'll Make You Question My Counting Abilities." Basically, don't tell the audience how many items are on the list, and use the numbers all out of order.
The trading cards are interesting and actually cool. The only thing we got when you could ride in the front cabin of the monorail before the major wreck was a co-pilots license.
Hey Dalin, my Son and I are renting a theater at ICON Theaters off of Interquest for a Private Screening of Haunted Mansion! It will be a late showing on Thursday night, July 27th! We would be more than happy to have you and your wife join us if you're interested ... on us of course! Just throwing it out there ... let us know, we will have PLENTY of space! 😄 This is Mike from up in Monument by the way ... changed our Channel name since last we chatted!
Never realized the tree thing. I just visited Disneyland for the first time this last summer and distinctly remember thinking, "Oh, trees. That's not like I'm Florida."
Disney adult here ^^ A fact about Disneyland Paris : each land has a rollercoaster ^^ Frontierland : BTM Adventureland : Indiana Jones Discoveryland : Space Mountain Fantasyland : Casey Jr. Circus Train yes at DLP is a E-Powered rollercoaster designed by Vekoma ^^
I do remember that there were trees around when I was young and going to Magic Kingdom 30 years ago. Never was in the lodge at Fort Wilderness but I have been to the Bright Angel Lodge. I'm sure there's less of a chance of some brat setting off firecrackers he go from the Navajo reservation on a upper floor balcony while you're standing a huge echoing room, at Disney. Cos it happened at Bright Angel Lodge.
I love Maelstrom. It was the scariest effing thing I’d ever ridden when I went on it at five or six, but I grew to live and appreciate it as I learned more about Nordic mythology and the land that my ancestors came from (my grandparents actually brought me on it because our family immigrated from Scandinavia, Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, and the like, and they wanted me to consume as much of that stuff as possible). I was crushed when I learned it was closing.
I booked a 24 hour trip when happily ever after was leaving so I could see it one last time. Totally effed up getting a good spot, got stuck behind a tree 😂
There is one other Disney weenie that, maybe doesn't blend in between different lands of a park, but does blend in between two completely different parks - Tower of Terror in Disney's Hollywood Studios can be seen from Epcot, and blends in with the Morocco pavilion when viewed from the Mexico pavilion.
My poor girlfriend was traumatized by Paris’s Space Mountain when she was small, cuz apparently there’s a loopdeloop in that one. When we visit together, I guess I’ll have to wait in line for it alone, lol
No trees in Magic Kingdom hub because they block the projectors for the nighttime shows. As the projectors came along, the trees disappeared. Good thing? Bad thing? Up to you!
Look we all know that there’s no popcorn or churro cart in adventure land is because Dole Wip is the the mafia boss of all snacks and demands that his turf is respected
My family has always thought that Disneyland was more of a local focused park, whereas Magic Kingdom in WDW feels more touristy. Hence the lack of overlays during Halloween, lack of trees in the Hub, etc. This by no means Disneyland isn't touristy but it definitely leans heavier towards the locals and that's okay!
I like the background audio from space mountain, one of my favorite rides since I actually enjoy the eisner era stuff like dinosaur (I know it wasn't under his era, but it can be considered of the scarier disney rides like his era.) Also would like to say I miss Maelstrom :(
There are 34 transportation cards now- unsure of the exact change- but have one from a few years ago with “33” that also mentioned Minnie Vans…. Now more recent ones state “34” Idk what changed/what was added
fun fact, the ride layout for I think it was disneylands haunted mansion is kinda shaped like goofys head (a worker in epcot showed it ot me). she showed me because my outfit made it pretty obvious that im a haunted mansion fan (minnie ears, bag, giant foldable fan). i mean the ride track is kinda shaped like goofys head (side profile)
I miss being traumatized by the Maelstrom
Polar bears scare the shit out of me, so I would’ve had a heart attack if a had ridden it before it was rethemed.
That was my favorite ride, and I still miss those horrifying trolls (especially the nightmarish nokken)

Dude, I never realized there weren’t any churro or popcorn carts in Adventureland. These facts do matter.
I do really miss Maelstrom, it made me really want to visit Norway and Sweden someday. One might say I'm pining for the fjords.
Awe poor Norwegian Blue! Pining for the fjords! 😢😂
Yes I definitely recommend a trip to Norway! It is indeed a life changing experience and there are traditional troll statues everywhere down there! “PININ’ for the FJOOORDS?” 😁
The Via Napoli ovens do kind of look like the talking cave walls from Labyrinth so I get the Muppet comparison.
Honestly they look more like the ghost of Christmas present
That people mover photo op is savage of disney, I cannot believe they would physically bully us by acknowledging that people want the people mover back. Anyways, DISNEY bring the Thunder Mesa land to real life and maybe y'know bring back the people mover as well.
Disney adult here. TOTALLY miss the Maelstrom. And all the cool Norway souvenirs that the Frozen stuff replaced.
I loved seeing the interpretation of the three- headed troll and having Seidr (magic) cast over the boat so it would be cast out of their bog. I'm glad I had a chance to experience it before Frozen trampled it out of existence.
Maelstrom will return. I have ways of knowing future events.

Maelstrom terrified me as a kid and made me refuse to get on any dark rides. Even It’s a Small World

This is a random question but what happens to the theater you get out at on maelstrom
I miss Malestrom :( it was my entire childhood. Norway i think was my favorite pavilion besides France. I also miss the trolls and the authentic Norwegian stuff they sold.
Did they do away with the gift shop with the giant troll / troll figures? (I haven’t been to Disney World in ~15 years)
The removal of Maelstrom to me marked the beginning of the fall of all the Disney parks. Haven't been back since 2009 and never will again. The pricing is too outrageous for any middle class family anyway.
The Magic Kingdom Hub looked a lot better with the trees, but the current version is better for guest safety.
California native here who goes with his kids and family at least once a year to Disneyland. We will be going to Disney World for a week in May, and I will be riding the people mover. Can’t wait, it’s been years since I rode that as a kid.
Dalin actually completed a top 10. I feel treated. :D
Good job pointing out Mount Prometheus at DisneySea, it is definitely something cool the Imagineers did to make it feel like it fits in each land

The Maelstrom was my favorite ride at Epcot.

These collections of fun facts are some of my favorite Disney Parks content. Thanks for making more!
Casey junior also has seats from the original carousel making it the only place in Disneyland you can sit on bench older than the park it exists in.
I’m so happy someone is talking about how there are no more trees in the hub at MK. I think about it more than I should.

"The ten tiniest hidden outdoor Mickeys in WDW."
I think the tree thing is cause it's actually the second floor, so the roots might extend too far down, or effect the "ceiling" of the utilidoors.
