I actually used a magnet almost exactly like this one to do my PhD research in bioengineering. I was using it to rapidly spin magnetic iron nanoparticles and make them generate a few hundred degrees C and release drugs attached to their surface. So instead of a piece of metal bar in the coil, it was a mouse with the nanoparticles inside of them (the mice were fine, since the particles are so incredibly tiny the actual amount of heat generated was very low). The Alex/Tynan dynamic duo is easily one of my favorites, right up there with Alex/Riley and Jake/Linus. The shenanigans that go down are always immaculate
Finally someone took the 5k for a PC and actually built just straight up baller PC. It's going to be a pain to ever upgrade or replace parts but it's definitely cool AF. The induction heater is just cherry on the top. Chef's kiss.
He’s using a distro block, as far as hardline tubing goes that’s basically easy mode. All he needs to do is drain the loop and cut new tubing to length, you can see he has very few runs that aren’t just a straight pipe. For anything with a curve, well, the induction furnace stuff was probably just for fun, you can easily bend such copper tubes cold.

I have a similar 6Kw induction heater that I built a few years back. You should really use an SSR and power resistor as a soft start to charge up the capacitors before they are directly connected to mains voltage. I basically run 240V through a 300W 500ohm power resistor with a 5 second 555 timer circuit and latch to activate the solid state relay, that way the resistor charges up the caps slowly before fully connecting them. I have also been considering using a microcontroller to measure the voltage on the capacitors to switch over to mains as soon as they are charged above a certain threshold, which would be nice to prevent any potential short from blowing things up (since it would pull power from the cap faster than the resistor lets it charge the circuit just never switches to mains if something is wrong).
I'm sure you meant SCR, not SSR. had a couple laying around I pulled out of an old spot welder, never did use them, now I'm not in to those types of hobbies anymore.

@@jswaggart01 OK 🤓
Alex did a really good job on hosting this episode, I liked it!
Half of my video selection process is determining whether Alex is in the video. His projects are always interesting and its always a good watch.
I didn't realize I needed Alex to host one of these tech upgrades. This was chaotic and fantastic
Watching Tynan come alive with all that excitement was great. Give us more.
Omg yes. Can we have a video where Tynan goes over the build of that inductive heater, what everything inside it does and why he made the decisions he did? Also any safety features like temperature switches etc.
I'm disappointed that it doesn't seem to have a proper disconnect switch built in so that you can safely connect the cords while disconnected.
I guess u need to go to Floatplane to get a Video about the heater.
I guess the big Black Switch does exactly that. And they only forgot to turn it off. But only a guess
Alex' comment about pre-stressing the motherboard is an instant classic! I liked that a lot.
It feels like the classic, "Trust me, I'm an engineer." vibe. hahaha
There's something I love about Alex! He landed the job of dreams, but he is so likable, smart, and talented, that he more than deserves it
More Tynan required in LTT videos! He's shaping up to the mad scientist of LTT. I have a feeling come next year he will be Brian the Electrician's arch nemesis. But even if he does, he will do it in true archvillain style by being charming and charismatic, just as he was in this video.
Seriously fun video, great PC and fabulous energy. Time to step up Alex, Tynan is making you look a big fraidy-cat... Man, that's something I thought I would never say...
[Edit: You're still awesome Alex, you knows we luvs ya]
Wouldn't he be an arc nemesis?
@@Morphior Wut you did thar... I see it. And I approve!!👍
Weld done! ✌️
@@MrIrondog55 I don't see Watt you mean.
@@Morphior I think that's a topic Faraday in the future. Too tired and cagey to fuse a debate together. Ohm my gawd its late. Need to recharge my batteries. Going into hibernate mode. Take care bud and have a good eve!
I hope to see him in videos more often. His energy is just amazing
This is by far my favorite episode! WOW!!!! When Alex comes off as the safety guy, you're in for some fun
While watching the death machine part, I ended up forgetting that Tynan and Alex were building a computer.
Tynans chaos level is incredible. That dude has some crazy professor vibes going xD
Tynan Mad Science Tips.
Very fun to see someone describe how this stuff works!
I usually add Intel Extreme Upgrades to a watch later playlist. But this one is special, it has Alex. it's going to be filled with Alex shenanigans and there's going to be something jank definitely.
guess what
Linus: roasts the person getting the upgrade
Alex: roasts other streamers reacting to their videos
18 minutes in and I have no idea what he needs this metal heater thing for.
Yo same. I'm sitting here wondering if I missed a large part of the video. What was it for? I finished the video and never found out. It seemed dangerous and there was no obvious reason to why they were doing most of this stuff.
@@Tsuusetsu I think it was included just bc he spend intel money onto that instead of using on just his pc
he said forging, also it's just a really cool thing to build
isn’t it obvious lol? he needs it to bend the hardline copper tubing. it’s literal copper plumbing, a heat gun won’t work like you do with acrylic tubes
because why not lol! nothing cooler than an electric forge. except maybe building your own
Sickest build so far in this series imo. Tynan should do some more videos, maybe some in the workshop? I really like his vibe ^^
Asmongold becoming a ltt meme makes me so happy
More chance, that they do a collab.
All they need to do is hammer in the d*ck and balls logo during their build
I'm ded
they are just baiting him for publicity so many channels do that right now. so lame
@@disliked1390 LTT gets at minimum, an average of 10x the amount of views, if anything, this is good publicity for Asmongold lol.
@@СусаннаСергеевна No, you want to heat the copper tubes so that you don't end up folding the copper tubing instead of bending. (reduces flow, reduces overall pressure and cooling effectiveness; not fun)
@@cwhitley.sawlabs You fill the pipe with sand or a special spring before bending it. ua-cam.com/video/pc3yud5JSsM/v-deo.html
I may not know much about plumbing, but I do know this one thing.
@@СусаннаСергеевна Ah, cool. I knew there was some special step you had to do. Thanks!
this was no joke, one of the most crazy fun video's you guys have done
This man has a maniacally evil laugh, and i love it. they need to have this guy on more often, just getting up to his shinanigans
From one Alex to another, honestly you made so much progress since your first video with LTT. You're my fav host (with daddy Linus). Keep up the authenticity! 💪
Tynan is my favorite ltt employee, it's always "we could die but nothing to worry about" vibes 😂
He's like the Steve Irwin of electricity
I've watched this video three times now and Alex paired with Tynan is an absolute hoot! They def should have their own spin off channel where they do crazy stuff.
The amount of chaotic energy in this video.... Is almost more than i can handle. I love it! Also it feels like Tynan is one accident away from becoming a supervillain 😅
Ok, this is probably my favorite episode of intel extreme upgrade so far... Tynan is an interesting combination of curious/cavalier that I think he'd either get old really quick, or he's gonna entertain you to death(it can only end in some form of spectacle). Kinda hope to see more of him on the channel somewhere...
Awe BLACK LAB. I just rescued a lab mix from our shelter and she's been amazing. LIKE HOLY CRAP. Got her at 8 months old, had been int he shelter for like 2 months and she's better behaved than my 4 year old Foxhound mix. LOVE her. Your's is so handsome.
This is the first build that made me super jealous of the final product. I love the PC. The Aesthetic is right up my alley
Great to see alex hosting a tech upgrade! Its always nice to change things up every now and then.
they dont want the ceo to die from the other build.
"Why?!"
"Why not?"
Excellent point actually!
I was so stressed the whole time they were working in the workshop. So much could have gone wrong. Glad most of it didn't.
Tynan is definitely one of my favourite LTT staff members, his choatic energy just makes his personality such a vibe on video.
Tynan is objectively handsome, and even within a point of Alex, but he's such a turbo dork, it's incredible.
Tynan is such a chaotically quirky funny guy and great in front of the camera. On top of being crafty and tinkery. He seems like a great addition to the team and I'd love him to be in front of the camera sometimes.
Tynan's chaotic energy with Alex's hosting works really well! Great video combo
0:22 "you touch anything in here, you literally die"
Okay now I get why Linus isn't hosting this.
I know Alex doesn't need a co-host when doing car reviews, but these two have amazing chemistry on camera together
Love a Alex hosted Intel tech upgrade
1:14 where did he pull that from? These camera angles get me every time.
