This bowled me over with its fun and power when first I heard it back in the 80s. It still makes me smile

Should have been released as a single in the UK charts. It would have made at least the Top 40.

Steve Hackett making a 3-4 minute pop song that I like more than Genesis' 3-4 minute pop songs

In my opinion Genesis died after one album after Steve left. He was the heart of Genesis and is the only one still going strong, with a discography larger than the rest combined.

Wonder why this version of his band broke up after this. Only half the songs on Spectral and Defector had vocals so not much for Pete Hicks to do. I love both albums. I tend to lean toward Defector but my biggest complaint is that the vocals are a lot harder to understand than on Spectral for some reason. I only get it when I read the lyrics. Maybe too much vocal reverb, but also the sonic space where the vocals sit seem to have a lot of keys in the same frequency making it a bit muddled. The remaster didn't seem to fix this.
