@@LukeStilson Thanks for the reply man and great work on your videos. For me personally, it would be amazing to see the end to end process of creating a level. Even if it's a very simple small room. So from the initial concept with brushes to then creating the proper meshes for it and then finalising the lighting and everything else. That's probably a lot for one video but would be great to see the full process. Even just this exact video but in real time. I'd happily spend half a day watching and learning. Just getting into trying to learn game design and a bit of a numnut so finding it all very daunting. Just discovered udemy though so should have some good stuff on there.
@@Treebsquire good suggestion- for you, id recommend diving deep into the 'ShooterGame' content by epic, specifically the map I think called 'temple,' I took that level apart piece by piece looking at the lighting, sound and blocking volumes. That is created almost entirely with geometry brushes and is really impressive. I'm probably going to focus on more programming and UI in the near future, but I'll keep this in mind as it is a big topic, just a lot of different pipelines you can use and depends on modeling software as well.
@@Treebsquire also, a lot of work went into the back-end of this, creating the meshes and materials and decals so I could do this so quickly, most of this video is simply placing things and using the tools I created for myself -- the back-end setup and testing took easily 3x as long as the actual build
@@LukeStilson That's great, thanks man. I'll check out the shootergame tutorial. Do you work in game development? Tried to look at your site but was a dead link.
Hi.. can you help me? hi I have a problem that I can not solve. I can not completely darken a tunnel in a level where there is a stationary skylight or if I set the skylight on static the tunnel becomes dark but all the other shadows like those of the trees are dark.how can I make the tunnel completely dark without having to set the skylight on static?
Here in this video, the all the lighting IS static. In your case, you might have to use post processing volumes to 'fake' the darkness. I would have to play with the actual file to see exactly what is happening with the tunnel's lightmap and how the level is laid out, but that is where I would start.
Maya has a free version if you are a student, you can google 'Autodesk for students' for more information-- You can download Blender for free at www.blender.org/download/. Both these programs have steep learning curves if you have not worked in 3D before. Other software (requires subscription) used to create materials in this project were Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Substance Plugin for UE4, Photoshop, Quixel Suite (NDO, DDO, 3DO)
i wish to be a developer, It's my dream
so be a developer

Same, but investing on a good pc isn’t something really simple for me
i know I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to watch new series online ?
@Alvaro Fletcher i would suggest FlixZone. You can find it on google :)

Really looks good ;)

I would quite happily watch this whole video in realtime. Would be a great learning experience.
Anything in particular you'd like to see? Getting back in to tutorials

This is amazing
Hi.
Can you show how to do it step-by-step?
And if you will can you snow as well?
great work and very good music choice ! ;)
Looks awesome! How much time did it take?
Weeks to make all the assets and tools for myself, a couple days for this actual build
My only complaint is the thumbnail didn't reflect the real build (no pun intended).. there's no water or reflections. I would have liked to see that.
There are reflections, just didn't get a good angle in the vids, regret that. The trees in the thumb were added after the vid though 🤣
