It’s Sunday evening, May 26, 2024, aboard the upper level of the rear Superliner coach on Amtrak train 3, the westbound Southwest Chief.
We depart Fort Madison, Iowa on the BNSF Railway Marceline Subdivision, passing their Shopton Yard.

Looks like they tore down the Shopton depot building. At one time, the Santa Fe dispatcher was also in that building.

@@russellsharptrainvideos Back in the old days when Santa Fe was using the downtown depot, they still stopped at Shopton to change crews. When BNSF built the new building in the parking lot, it took away a lot of parking spaces for passengers. Dropped friends off and picked friends and family up at the old Shopton depot that is now gone.
