Saying Snape was after Quirral's job just meant Snape wanted to teach that glass
The wizarding world of harry potter is located at orlando Florida in universal Studios (not disney)
Suddenly everyones reaction to HP for the first time 😂
I know.. I am like..Yes we are all on lockdown but what have you been doing the last 20 years
@@peterrabbitn787 reaction channels usually flow in one direction as far as algorithms go.
Couple people do it, it becomes a trend, people follow. Some of the reactors do it because they legitimately haven't seen it before and see it's a trend so "why not now", others may be pretending to have never seen it and play blind for views. Hard to tell sometimes which side a reactor is on.
I know right?!!!
I’m not complaining lol
He wasn't talking about Quirrel specifically, just the job.
This exactly, Quirrel's job was Defense Against the Dark Arts, saying he's been after Quirrel's job for years means he's been after DAtDA for years. If it was meant the other way it's be as if Snape was for years trying to take whatever job Quirrel was in, which is not what was meant. No one said "Quirrel has had this job for years", they meant it as "Snape has been after the job that Quirrel currently has for years". I honestly have no clue how she came to the conclusion that it was saying he'd had the job for years, that was Quirrels first year back at the school.
“Kids films” oh just wait until they move onto the next films 😂
@Cyberdemon Mike I'm sorry for you
@Cyberdemon Mike he's sorry you're a moron
The chamber of secrets is real dark
@Cyberdemon Mike you must have had a dark childhood
Cyberdemon Mike muggle these days
They dumb Ron down a lot in the movies. In the books he isn't so bumbing or so prone to panic. They also either give his lines to Harry or other characters quite often too.
They gave a lot of his lines to Hermione as well - like the idea to use light
I like the comedic factor that Rupert Grint brings to the character personally.
@@jessicarada503 I think it fits since she's the smarty pants.
I agree with you. Ron's actually the best character in the entire series.
Hermione of course had the smart lines but Ron would know more useful wizard trivia as things like child rhymes were thought to him by his family, whereas Hermione would only have learned things about the magic world from books after being admitted to Hogwarts
I’m in for the whole series. Let’s educate this muggle man!
i second this!
😅
He's after Quirell's job for years. Not Quirell, but the position "Defense Against the Dark Arts."
Also didnt the job only become "cursed" after Quirrel? Quirrel didnt seem to be new in this. The trend started in the second book when they picked the dumbest replacement
@@proclarushtaonasat It was cursed since the job was denied from Voldemort so it was for many years.
@Richard you should make your own comment, instead of a reply
@proclarushtaonasat it's been cursed for years and years, but Quirrel taught Muggle Studies before getting the DADA position, plus before Harry's first year he took a year long sabbatical (that's when he met Voldemort).
It's not that teachers may only have the Defense Against Dark Arts for one single year, as a rule. It just so happens that every teacher that takes the job has to leave after a single year for one reason or another. So it becomes a joke--or maybe not considering Voldemort was denied it---that the job is cursed.
Someone: oh, Harry Potter..that movie about wizarding school for kids
Me: dude it's about genocide but ok
Genocide is one part of it. It's not about that
@@Nakajima-oh7kw yes, friendship, mother's love and so on I KNOW it's just a joke
Alex Kovalev nah it’s clearly about hagards beard.
It's about my father hearing about this
Nah, it's an documentary on hippogriffs and thestrals
Can we just remember; in the book it was Hermione that sorta lost her head in the devils snare part. Ron was like “well light a fire” and she just goes “thErE’s nO wOoD”
Yeah Hermione wasn't used to magic, she was still thinking like a muggle.
Connor Mann I know, I just think they should’ve added that in to the films, and gave Ron his lines back
"ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT?!" Book Ron has so many great lines.
@@fvunders But like, I see where they're coming from in the movie. They have to pass 3 trials to get to the stone. Ron has chess, Harry has the keys with his broom, and Hermione should have the devil's snare. Having Ron solve 2 makes Hermione kinda useless.
@@pack1pick161 maybe so, but they also left out a two tasks one that is strictly Hermiones logic. She’s known to panic in intense dangerous situations, Ron and Harry are more the type to keep a cool head, whereas she is much more calmer and strategic when it comes to planning and academia. I suppose the three tasks for the movie does make sense, but still I dislike how they portrayed Ron there. I reckon they should’ve just added in the potions task for Hermione.
I wrote "Harry Potter reaction" in UA-cam and i found this video that was uploaded one hour ago. It seems i drank some liquid luck.
Same!
same for me dude
@@Snestorm564 I'm honestly surprised by the amount of new reactions to Harry Potter that have popped up lately, it's a big resurgence!
@@VolatileSupernova Yeah a lot of people have started reacting to Harry potter movies
@@VolatileSupernova honestly people have been starting to react to alot of the big franchises like Harry potter, Lord of the rings and Star wars lately and its always such a joy to experience the movies for the first time again through other people
39:12 Quirrel didn't shake his hand because he was practicing social distancing 🤣🤣
Stay home fam 🤣🤣
Nah he was practicing social destruction 👀
He wasn't very good at it. Voldemort - who's gotta be in at least his mid-sixties - and him constantly went head to head with each other, and I'm pretty sure drinking raw unicorn blood would make you catch *something.*
@@Quirderph yeah, like a curse
Beastial Moon bruh😂
Nicolas flamel was a real person in history .
He was a famous alchemist.
Unwetter :0 thats cool!
I was never interested in HP either. Then I saw the movie. I was like... damn, this is good. Been hooked ever since. Even lead me to read the books, and I'm not a book reader either, but those were so good also.
Welcome to the Wizarding World! ✨
Me too. I just watched the first two movies yesterday. Got me addicted to watch the whole movies.
The phrase of Snape having been “after Quirrel’s job for years” is using the job itself as the subject. It hasn’t always been Quirrel’s job, but the position/job in and of itself that Snape has been after for many years. It’s tricky grammar but it does hold up.
"he's been after the job that quirrel currently has, for years" doesn't really cut it as a line does it? lol
In all fairness I've never seen anyone interpret that line like she does haha
its just an ambiguous sentence, can understand why you can see it both ways, but yeah, they mean he's been after the job he has.
yes! was looking for this comment (i know it's 3 years later but just saying)
i think the line holds up like you say, it says he's been after the _job_ for ages, not necessarily that it was always Quirrell's
Moral of the story: Love can burn your enemies face off.
Lol 😂
0:08 Stop, stop stop. You're going to take someone eye out, besides you're saying it wrong. It's Petrificus Totalus not Perfectious Tortalus lol
The line about "He's been after Quirrell's job for years," still makes sense. Quirrell's job, Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, has been a position at Hogwarts for many years, long before Quirrell had the job (and long before he or Snape were ever born). Snape has been after that job, Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, for years. It just happened to be Quirrell's job in the school year of 1991-1992 here when Percy is talking about it. Doesn't matter how long the current professor has been there. Snape has still always wanted that job.
Quirrel was teaching the Dark Arts for only one year, but Snape was interested in that job way before
In the book Fred and George enchanted snowballs to fly at the back of quarles head.
**in my best Hermione impersonation** No, no no! It’s Petrificus Totalis, not “Perfectus Tortalis”!
Totalus*
I come looking for this comment because i cringed so hard

I died when I heard that! So funny! 😂
“Just the potion scene missing”
Peeves- am I a joke to you?
watashi he’s not that huge but if you think that then you haven’t read the books
I'm still upset they took out Hermione's potion trial from the movie.
Same. Also upset that the Devil's Snare scene had Ron being such an idiot. In the books, it's a nice little character scene where we see that though Hermione is great at spells in a controlled setting, she actually struggles quite a bit when put under pressure. It's Ron that jars her into making a decision, showing that though he might not have Hermione's wits, he's far calmer in a pressurized situation. Harry's greatest ability is that as well. Being resourceful and thinking on his feet. Ron get's shortchanged far too much for my liking in the films.
@@mattyice9535 Yes! It makes him and Hermione getting together seem weird too but in the book you see that they really complement each other.
@@xelectrix precisely. Or that scene with Snape teaching in Prisoner of Azkaban. My least favorite moment in the films. Ironically it's in my favorite of the films, but I digress haha.
@@mattyice9535 I also have one of my least favorite moments in PoA, my favorite of the films, and that is when Hermione gets Ron's line towards the end (you know of what I speak lol). It was such a defining character moment for him, and... yeah.
xelectrix more upset about how the protrayed Ron. He was my favourite character in the books
I appreciate you saying the original title the philosopher's stone😊
I never got the renaming... It makes no sense as the Philosophers stone is a legendary item that predates these books by like a thousand years.
Also a Philosopher and Sorcerer is not the same thing.
As far as I know it was originally called the philosophers stone due to its ability to grant eternal life (it also had the ability to turn any metal into gold, unless I'm mistaken) and infinite time allows for infinite learning and would eventually turn anyone into a philosopher.
But it doesn't grant magical powers to its owner. Is it a sorcerer's stone only cus it's owned by a sorcerer? Cuz that's really lazy, if he gave it away it could've been "The Janitor's Stone".
Sorry about my ranting... Do you happen to know the reason for the name change? Cuz I'm really curious 🤣
@@F1rstWorldNomaD JK Rowling agreed to change the title of the book from "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" to "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" because the publishers thought that American readers wouldn't pick up a book called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" because they would associate the word Philosopher with some old, boring guy and not with magic. The word Sorcerer brings magic to mind for Americans
c2198 c2198 you missed out the part that Rowling regretted the change. And that still doesn’t change the fact that Philosopher and Sorcerer mean completely different things.
@@cc-er8bz oh, I see.
I still think that was a stupid decision... But atleast I walk away knowing why 🤣
Thanks for the info, dude! 👍
Harry's dad also was killed d by Voldemort. He didn't even have his wand near him and yet stood against Voldemort. This gave Lily time to run upstairs to Harry but sadly Voldemort also ended up killing Lily.
there are legitimate criticisms of the Harry potter movies, but absolutely none against the score. Incredible.
That’s because really the kids just earned back the points they lost earlier in the movie for helping with Norbert
Melissa C I think they meant the score by John Williams (the music)
@@tiarrasmith3648 lol i assumed they accidentally replied to the wrong comment. Makes sense
Hopefully you react to the rest man! The films progress very well and get darker as they go on. My favorite one is either the 3rd or 5th. (Yea I know , nobody asked .. just sayin !) haha.

Who else thinks that Sytherin (?) isn’t a really bad group, they just has a really bad reputation because of Voldemort.
Katie Denmark I mean that isn’t their only problem...but it certainly doesn’t help.
Katie Denmark Well...90% Of Slytherins DO end up bad, so I don’t know what I can say to that. Certainly, they are not all bad, but many of them are.
There’s not a bad witch or wizard that didn’t come from Slytherin 🤷🏽

In hindsight
Hagrid: Youre a wizard. Youre parents were killed by the most evil and vile madman ever to walk the earth and even though hes been dead for a generation we dont speak his name out of terror.
Also hagrid. "Introduces harry to voldemort on the first day of his magical life"
I love how you can quote the movies, Jane, now I finally don't feel as weird anymore for having that ability XD
I hope JV will read the books after this, or listen to the audio books.
Anyway, will be following this, love watching people reacting to Harry Potter, thanks for uploading and giving me something to watch. I'm spending so much time on youtube nowadays that the algorithm no longer knows what to recommend to me. Nice to find something that actually interests me.
34:55 they did change Ron and Hermione's characters a lot too. In the novels Ron stays cool with the devil's snare and calms Hermione down as she figures out how to get them out of the situation. Instead the movie just made Ron stupid
Prior to his sabbatical Quirrell was Muggle Studies professor so he only held the Dark Arts position for one year. Snape wanted the position.
Saying that snape has been after his job for years doesn't mean quirrell has had it for years, it just refers to snape wanting the position in general. Hes been after the position quirrell is in now, for years
Ikr
She means the curse of the job, Quirrell had the job for 2 years but he went travelling for 1 year in between those 2 years (that's when Voldemort found him) so technically the cursed still worked.
@@mjm3091 Wasn't he the Muggle's Studies professor before travelling? So he has only had the job for a year total.
@@poktred5442 Yes he was, I made a mistake in my comment.
Or we could argue that J.k made up that curse after she written the first 6 books. How each book ended gave a very good reason to get a new professor.
Quirrell: Possessed by Voldemort and dies😮
Lockhart: Turns out to be a fraud and his own spell backfires 😆🤣
Lupin: Is forced to leave, due to his unfortunate condition 😤
Moody: Was not really Moody but Barty Crouch Jr (idk if real Moody would go back after that🤔)
Umbridge: Becomes too power hungry, and falls for a trap by teenager🤬🤬🤣🤣
Snape: You know what he does, and what happens to him. 😖😖😭😭
Carrows who cares about them
With all that said. It seems like the job may be cursed, yet all had a very good reason not to stay another year.
There is a scene in the Philosophers Stone BOOK where Fred and George are playing in the snow and they enchant snow balls to hit the back of professor Quirrell head! They didn’t know ET were hitting Voldemort in the face! 🤣
wow it's been years since i've firts seen this movie and i've rewatched it several times since then and i've never noticed this..... ahh what i love about rewatching something going back and finding something you haven't seen the previous time and expanding your world view...
Elyssa Choi sorry I thought I said it was in the philosopher stone book, I’m going to correct that mistake. But the books have these hilarious nuggets of jokes such as in book 4 Harry finding a replica toy of Victor K with its head snapped off near Ron’s bed! 😂
The Protection Charms are not like „oh I forgot something“ and you Turn Around. For Example the fidelius charm, the Most popular one, makes you unable to See the house if the secretkeeper didn‘t tell you. It also makes people who are told by the secretkeeper unable to Tell others.
Some protection charms do work like that though. Hogwarts itself is under one such protection ☺️
ObsessedWithEverything no on Hogwarts there is another charm. „'[Hogwarts is] bewitched,' said Hermione. 'If a Muggle looks at it, all they see is a mouldering old ruin with a sign over the entrance saying DANGER, DO NOT ENTER, UNSAFE.“
@@hrzg6691 Yeah, but the "Oh, I forgot something/I have an urgent appointment I forgot about" is also part of the protection charm. They see the ruins, and then to deter them further, it prompts them to think they have forgotten about something urgent. It is what makes them turn back instead of exploring some mysterious ruins. It's the Muggle-Repelling Charm. I think it was also used in Goblet of Fire for the Quidditch World Cup.
15:40 Actually here's an interesting story that Wood shared with Harry in the book.
Apparently, the Snitch is the thing that officially ends the game as it mentioned here in the film. If it isn't caught, the game is continuous and never ends. And when I say that, they really mean it.
The longest game that Wood describes to Harry and which was the longest record at Hogwarts was several months until someone finally found the snitch. The players had to keep being rotated in order to get some sleep but the game didn't end for that period of time.
Reading about that in the book made me wonder how that school year must have been for the athletes. XD
Fun but stressfull in the same time.
If I'm not mistaken, though, that was a professional game.
"Those are tha bad kids, slytherin".... nope youre wrong XD those are the kids who have the qualities of slytherins
quarantined from 2-5 am watching Harry Potter reactions.
JV is going to LOSE his mind during the Snape memory scene
You can't judge Harry Potter from one film, they all stitch together
especially now with the fantastic beast movies
Not really, there are plot holes if you haven’t read the books.
Security guards at schools aren’t really a thing over here!
actually during the real battle between harry and quirrell, whenever quirrel touched he received severe burns, his body didn't crumple like in the movie and that's why harry held on to him until he passed out and nearly died. Luckily Dumbledore came and saved him and quirrell's body was soo badly burned that voldemort abandoned it and that's what killed quirrel.
make sure you don't spoil him Jane!
I love how as the series goes on the color scheme gets darker
"They didn't blow up, Voldemort ⚡ em"
Got me 🤣💀
Also quite a few of Rons lines were given to Hermione or other characters, not to mention bar first year they sort of perfect Hermione, but if you look Ron has the best character arch, because no matter much he messes up later her always swallows his pride eventually and comes back more loyal
8:58 I didn't read the books, but iirc James Potter was showing magic to Harry just before Voldy came to their house. James forgot to take his wand and left it with Harry when he hurried downstairs, dying without a fight as a result.
A couple of things, in the books, Quirell did not have Voldemort with him the first time he met Harry in Diagon Alley so he did shake his hand. Also in the book, after the letters start to arrive, the Dursleys do in fact give harry the spare bedroom that Dudley used for storage things that didnt fit in his own bedroom. Can wait to see reaction to remainder of series
You couldn‘t say Voldemorts name because there was a curse on it, that alerts the deatheaters and lets them know your Location.
I think that only happens in Deathly Hallows. In his first rise to power, people feared saying his name because it was notorious, and they were terrified that saying it would manifest him somehow. It's more of a superstition, like how you shouldn't say 'Macbeth' in a theatre.
But yes, in DH, he does curse his name and make it into a taboo, so people purposefully don't say it 😊
You have to do more Doctor Who actor spotting. The Lady Cassandra teaching them how to fly on broomsticks.
There are a lot more missing. The potion trial. The dead troll trial. Getting norbert to Rons brother. The beginning.Meeting Malfoy early, and many details dialoge etc, but that's to be expected. Still, Harry Potter manages to be one of my favorite franchises! I watched the movies first, then read the books.
Found you through your hunger games reviews. I love your Chanel! So happy and excited to view more of your videos!
So excited to see you continue your reactions to this incredible movie series!
I love that you know so much, i could literally listen to you all day.
They didn't say that Quirrel has had the job for years, they said Snape has wanted the job Quirrel has, for years
just to clear it up guys.. the defense against the dark arts position, which snape has always been after, was cursed by voldemort before harry potters story. it is said that voldemort graduates from hogwarts and went on a 10 yr killing spree (which u will find out in the 6th movie) and came back to hogwarts and asked dumbledore for the position. at that moment voldemort’s face was already looking snake-like cause killing ppl deforms not only ur soul but ur physical appearance. dumbledore refused him the position and he cursed it that’s why every yr there’s a new teacher cause they can’t last for more than 1 yr
It makes sense. Quirrell's job is DADA professor. Whether it was Quirrell's job the whole time or not, it was Quirrell's job at that time when Percy was talking to Harry. So he had been after Quirrell's job for years. Meaning he'd been after the DADA professor job for years. I didn't read the rest of the comments. I'm sure someone else has already said the same.
The position as teacher in the Defense against the Dark Arts is in fact cursed, or rumored to be at least, by Voldemort himself from when he was younger. This is why there is a new teacher in that position every year. And... a bit of a spoiler warning... this is why Dumbledore refuses to grant Snape the position he desires so badly! "wink wink"
never thought about that with snape makes perfect sense cool.
He was after the position for years. That's why every year he gets more angry that he doesn't get it until... He finally does... ☺️
Proud of you for not calling it ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ 😂
I think Snape was after Quirrels job for years means he was after the position which was cursed. Not meaning Quirrel had held the position for years but was the last person to get it instead of Snape.
Emma Watson was 10 during this one, Daniel Radcliffe 11 and Rupert Grint 12. Tom Felton was 13.
Enchantments are a subject of magic. Not only the goblins can do enchantments. The person who casts the enchantment can only be broken or removed by the caster.
Snape applied for the DADA job when he first became teacher but because of his history of playing with the dark arts Dumbledore didn't trust him in the position.
Lmao I love the intro!!!!
The first two movies are my favorite, because the books were shorter and easier to adapt. The rest are just a fun ride
Agreed
The beginning you said it wrong . It’s “Petrificus Totalus”
The actual Diagon Alley where they filmed it is at the World of Harry Potter in London
A true Potter head who read the books would KNOW that Professor Quirrel held the job of Defense Against the Darkarts for years. Then he took 1 year off to travel, and came back 1-2 years BEFORE Harry showed up. It was only AFTER Quirrel died that teachers ever lasted 1 year as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor
This women’s voice pisses me. She spoils a lot of things too
SportsFan 27 I know right
Then don't watch her.
Noah_Chimeno904 Well we aren’t watching it for her, we’re watching it for the guys reaction. And the original commenter is saying she spoils a lot for the guy reacting.
The Harry Potter theme park is at Universal not Disney...and it is DOPE.
I know Im late to this video but snape wanting the DADA spot for years makes sense. He wanted it before quirrell had it
Funny that you said the part where voldemort was sucking the unicorns blood would give you nightmares, when I saw at the time I was six years old and got nightmares about it at night haha
If they reveal it in later stories and you talk about it now, it is a spoiler.
When I saw the first Harry Potter movie in theaters when I was a kid Voldemort did creep me out
I died when JV asked if there were "like security wizards and stuff" LOL!!!
Lol that intro lol
I stayed after the reaction when i usually leave before the reactors give their thoughts and opinions.
@Richard i agree
Jane: Why isn't he just picking a letter up from the ground?
Me: And this is one of the many reasons why Harry isn't in Ravenclaw.
Where is jv and janes oscar for their beautiful performance in the intro
10:15 “I totally would’ve been Slytherin” 23:50 *cringes at the sight of the Dark Lord*
theres also the fact that james left his wand on the sofa, and so didn't have the chance to fight of voldemort
dr103 no hes not. The fidellius charm was set in their house, he had just finished looking after Harry, and lily went to take Harry to bed. He threw the wand on the couch because he didn’t think he would need it. He then walked out to the hall and saw Voldemort bust in the door and he made sure to tell lily to run with Harry, they were his main priority. And in pure panic from being so calm and getting ready to bed to immediately facing the darkest wizard of all time of course I forgot his wand and in a split second he was dead. I do not think he was an idiot
"The greatest swordsman in the world didn't have a sword!?"
... Yeah, that was dumb.
Keep an eye out for Doctor Who actors in these films. There are a lot of them. Just in this film alone there is: Zoë Wanamaker, John Cleese (Classic Who), David Bradley, Warwick Davis, John Hurt, Elizabeth Spriggs (classic Who), Adrian Rawlins, Sean Biggerstaff, Terence Bayler (Classic Who), Simon Fisher-Becker, Rusty Goffe, and Kiran Shah. That's just listing who was this one alone!
Seems like any actor who is anyone in the UK has a part in this movie. :)
And Dudley is played by the Second Doctor's grandson.
My high school senior prank had one of the football players run into the middle of the auditorium during a school meeting wearing a turban yelling "TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!"
Then all the seniors rushed out the doors, straight for the parking lot with our cars. Not everyone made it before the officials shut everything down. I was one of the few who made it.
It's not that teachers may only have the Defense Against Dark Arts for one single year, as a rule. It just so happens that every teacher that takes the job has to leave after a single year for one reason or another. So it becomes a joke--or maybe literal considering the nature of the school---that the job is cursed.
Guys, the Potter World is found in Universal Studios, not Disney. Just to make you aware.
Tom Riddle jinxed defense against the dark arts. So teachers only stay one year. When he was trying to get the job.
Why don't u all just watch the movie and stop comparing it with the books
The fact that he said that HERMIONE was annoying? I-
She literally saved Harry's and Ron's asses for the entire seven movies!
okay maybe I went to far. i'm not hating on him!
Seven movies?
Oh man, JV is gonna crrrrryyyyyyy in this series!!
I took that line as "he's been after the job Quirrell currently has for years" as in the position defence against the dark arts
Plot hole to me in general is that it is assumed that dumbledore had artifacts to check Harry’s wellbeing and he knew what kind of family the Dursley’s were. Why would he not check on Harry? Living in a cupboard and getting smacked with a frying pan in punishment seems more like abuse than a viable living arrangement. There are theories that dumbledore kept him there to be easily molded to what was introduced to him upon entering the wizarding world. So did dumbledore want a timid, friendless, damaged boy on purpose?
Here is my personal theory of why Quirrel was able to hold the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher position for multiple years, while all other teachers could only hold it for one at most. First, it is canon I believe that the curse on the position was set by Voldemort himself, since it was the subject that Dumbledore taught while Tom Riddle was at school. Secondly, I would assume that Quirrel met and partnered with Voldemort some time before his tenure in that position, or before a year had passed. Therefore, since Voldemort's own life force was tied to Quirrel, either he temporarily cancelled out the curse or it simply could not effect it's own caster, whom Quirrel housed.
If he doesn't like the movement of Quirrell in the forest he is gonna freak when he sees dementors.
You two are couple goals🔥
I think it was saying more that Snape was trying for the position for years not that quirell had the position for years.
Just pointing out that the sorting hat was not CG. It was an actual animatronic hat. One difference between the movies and the films that I hate is the absence of Peeves in the films
