I don't understand why they skipped snape dark arts class it was like 5 minutes in the books, all smallest details not in the movie were like 10-15 minutes total
Aww, Cedric and Sirious death made you sad...
By the Bellatrix and Draco's mother, Narcissa, are sisters. Thus, Draco is Bellatrix's nephew and a relative of Sirius.
Do you blast yo boy w a white strap or a black one😂😂😂do he bring da cheque right to you?!? Do he nibble da fungus unda yo toes?!?
Fun fact: Fred and George managed to open the joke shop with the winning money that Harry was awarded for winning the Triwizard Tournament, and because of this, Fred and George allowed Harry to take whatever they wanted from the shop for free as appreciation. The movies, however, never reveal this.
The movie doesn't reveal anything except that Lavender Brown likes Ron. A LOT.
When you read the book❤
Also Ron was on the Gryffindor Quidditch team in the 5th book as well.
LikerOfThings What i don’t get is that Lavender is black in the books, she even was in the first movies and was played by a black actress but i guess she left and i don’t know why in this one they casted a white actress to play her
@@andythierry5402 I've read the books like 12 times and I can't find her ethnicity anywhere. Just the change in the movies
Dumbledore, when confronted by Malfoy, was trying to SAVE Malfoy's soul. It's inspiring, and crushing, to watch Dumbledore selflessly try to save a person ready to kill him. Reminds me of Iroh, in that moment. 🔥🔥
Don't tell spoiler for him ... don't ruin things for the others.
Do you feel like a big man or important spoiling things for other people?
Iroh and Dumbledore are GOATs
Dumbledore watched Malfoy tear himself from inside and endanger other people in the castle and did nothing an entire year. Then, when it was already too late, he started spewing useless platitudes.
@@MrVarder Why Dumbledore did "Nothing" whole year to save or help draco is perfectly explained in the book.
He wanted to help draco but had he talked to draco about it there were chances :
1. Voldemort could know through some legilimency about draco taking help from dumbledore and being on good side and when draco wouldn't be able to hide his truth, he would be killed along with Lucius and Narcissa by Voldemort.
2. Dumbledore couldn't trust Draco enough to discuss with him how they could help him just like Dumbledore helped snape in his remorse for his bad deeds...What if after hearing all of this draco went to Dark Lord and told him about snape being a double-agent?
P.S. don't mind my english it sucks lol
The pain in harrys voice when he yells “fight back!!!you coward fight back!!!” always gives me goosebumps and gets me all choked up
It never chocked me up but dang it sure was hard and heavy
“He was the bravest man I knew”
@@Andaer11 Spoiler alert
Imagine being the bravest person in the books and being called a coward while still protecting someone you don’t care for
Me too cuz he is no coward :(
Going to add a little something here. The potion Dumbledore drank in the cave is known as “The Potion of Despair”. When he was actively drinking it; he wasn’t being put into physical pain instead it was forcing him to relive his deepest regrets and worst memories. Dumbledore is a symbol of strength and security but he does have a past. In order to become the highly respected wizard he is now he had to go through some pretty bad stuff to get there. The last two movies go into some detail about his past but of course not in enough detail as do the books. I’ll help fill in the gaps as we go.
Awesome
I was wondering the other when I was rewatching, he said "it's all my fault" and I wonder if it's about his sister and grindelwald ?
Kreacher said that when he drank it that "Kreacher's insides burned", suggesting that it did cause some level of pain.
i still dont get why Dumbledore didn't just surrender his Elder Wand to Harry, he didn't even mention it once
This was even more painful in the books... it's like he was reliving that scene where they (albus, aberforth, Grindelwald) were having a duel that caused the death of ariana...sad past...very very sad
I always tear up when everyone holds their wands to the sky 😭
oh hi Luke xD
When I was in the movie theater watching this people put their phone lights on and held it up in the air, it was a pretty cool moment
IK🥺🥺🥺
@@marykay8587 Same, loads in mine had wands with lights on the end of it. People either used those, or used their phone lights. Incredibly powerful moment.
"He's the Half-Blood Prince?"
Snape: "Yes, I am the Half-Blood Prince"
Me: "OMG HE'S TALKING TO US :D"
Ginny from the books are a million times even more badass than in the movies, really, the movies make no justice to her. Also, about the muggles being aware of what's happening, the first chapter of the 6th book is all about how the new Minister of Magic and the Muggle minister have a "diplomatic" relationship and he actually knows about the Wizarding World and what's going on.
I actually loved that part and it gives Fudge a smidge of redemption for me.
I love Ginny. She is like a fist of power. When you see her practicing DADA with the other kids in Dumbledore's Army and the Reducto spell in the room with the Prophecies she just blasts stuff. She reminds me a bit of Nynaeve from The Wheel of Time.
10:09 - I've seen a lot of other people have this same reaction and it always baffles me. If a child is going down a bad path, you don't just abandon them. Dumbledore does the right thing by bringing Tom to Hogwarts and giving him a chance to be better.
Exactly.
Fr tho
Yeah and people don't understand. Dumbledore had no idea that Tom Riddle would turn into Voldemort. He thought he might have been better if he went to Hogwarts. He's magical too so he has to anyway
Then he fucked up by treating Tom like a criminal almost the whole time. Remember that Memory Riddle even says "Dumbledore never trusted me." Imagine how being distrusted their whole life would affect a person. Tom is a product of both his own desires and other people's distrust, along with his feeling of being abandoned. Also, Tom isn't actually in the wrong for being a muggle hater. Remember that he grew up during WW2 in London of all places, where the war was up front in center. He probably went through a lot of bomb raids and general fear, along with the fact that no one liked him due to him being "creepy". This distrust and fear towards him turned him into a cruel person, and his whole fear of death was made because of the muggle wars that wizards didn't have a whole lot to do with. He also then enters the wizarding world and discovers that they're also having a war (Grindelwald's war), so it's no wonder that he turned to Horcruxes. I feel like he could have been such an asset to society, if only someone showed him some love earlier in life, and just showed him that you don't have to become a monster just to receive the recognition you crave.
yasashi No, Dumbledore didn’t trust Riddle after the chamber of secrets was opened and was suspicious he had a hand in it, but there was no evidence
Ahhh I wanted to see your reactions to the most funny scene! lol. “Harry!?” “Sir!?” 😂
Me too... ! 😅
Felix felicis is one hell of a nicotine LMAO

@@komokosai nicotine? The main ingredient in tobacco? How do you get to that conclusion lol
@@aarongabraham6179 if I remember right its when Harry says he's going to Hagrids even though students aren't allowed to leave the grounds. Slughorn in disbelief of Harry disobeying the rules he says "Harry?!" Then Harry replies super sarcastically "Sir?!" Then Slughorn says he'll escort him. It's a pretty funny scene lol
Draco wanted to be a Death Eater to please his father. Lucius brought him up to believe being a Death Eater was amazing. But when he finally got the Dark Mark, he didn't want to do it.
He knew he wasn't a killer, but it was Dumbledore's life or his and his families. This movie is really hard on Draco, because it's this year he really begins to question his morals and what he's been taught.
He broke in the bathroom, because he saw Katie and it all came to him. The pressure, the doubt, the worry, everything.
Also, this is told from Harry's POV, meaning we don't explicitly see his feelings or his struggle, but it's visible in his body language.
If Draco was given another like 5 minutes with Dumbledore on his own, 1 on 1, I think he would've took the deal with Dumbledore, because he had time to think it over too.
Fun fact: Draco never actually kills anyone, ever. He uses the curses Imperio and Crucio (I don't believe Crucio worked though, because you need to want to cause pain and inflict it on the victim) but he never killed anyone.
No draco did not become a death eater to please his father voldemort did that to punish Lucius for failing for not being able to get the prophecy abt Harry so voldemort was punishing Lucius by making draco a death eater and killing dumbledore
When you said "He's gotten more powerful?", he's always been very intelligent, just below Hermione in his subjects. But they don't show how smart or powerful Draco actually is
Draco's not even that powerful
Draco is arse, he's never been good at magic, or intelligent for that matter. The trio are clearly the best in their year, and Neville after that. No one else can even come close.
@@groot8950 Then you're pretty stupid aren't you.
@@groot8950 he may not be super powerful but he’s pretty clever witch can best powerful people
@@conorkennard3737 Name me 3 times Draco showed he's good at magic. Using the Body-Bind Curse on Harry is the best display of magic he's done lmao. That's nothing.
The Sectumsempra spell that Harry cast on Draco actually could easily have killed Draco - it mimics the slashing of a sword basically. In the book, Moaning Myrtle screams that someone has been murdered which luckily brings Snape, who knows the counter curse since he was the creator of the Sectumsempra spell.
Malfoy was always my favorite character. Him and Snape. They have incredible characterization depth. And this part is my favorite.

No, he couldn’t process the death of his parents at that age. Just like he was still in shock post-Cedric, so he didn’t fully process until this year. He didn’t know what he was seeing. She actually addressed this pretty well in commentary.
Meh, seems a retcon. You can make up whatever you want if you retcon like that. For example, you can only see.tjem after puberty for example
@@harish123az No it is very logical because a baby has not grown mentally enough to understand what death is. So it actually make a lot of sense.
@@harish123az Rowling gave an interview where she talked about not knowing where to introduce the Thestrals. She had planned the Thestrals to be pulling the carriages from the beginning, but when it came to the end of Goblet of Fire, she had to make the choice not to include them because she said that she didn't want to open another mystery at the end of that book. The Thestrals for one, only show up when you can _remember_ death, that was the plan from the beginning, but she added the idea that you had to process the death in order for her to postpone the Thestrals' introduction until Order of the Phoenix.
Erika Luleå it’s not it was just a well planned retcon
WINGO So, if your mom was killed when you were 1, you telling me you will remember with perfect clarity and understand what death is? And will be able to process it? Harry only remembers the screaming of her mother, and green light of the spell. That was stablished in book 3, when the Dementor attacks Harry.
Their questioning was perfect timing.
“He’s the Half-Blood Prince?”
“...yes - I am the Half-Blood Prince”
I've always felt compassion for Draco. I think JK doesn't want us to feel for him...but I can't help it! Tom Felton just did such a good job in this role!
in the book Dumbledore puts a body charm on harry so he couldn't move...to stop him from interfering...i don't know why they changed it for the movie
About the drinking thing in the UK. If you are 16 or 17 you can have a drink with a meal as long as an adult buys it and then when your 18 you can buy your own alcohol and drink without a meal. But from the age of 5 it is completely legal for your parent to give you a drink as long as it is on a private property
9:06 A day at Hogwarts just isn't complete without Seamus blowing something up. lol
17:48 Originally in the script they had Fenrir Greyback say to Ginny: "Don't you smell clean?"
His 'speciality' is children, he usually picks children to attack and turn into werewolves before the full moon, but apparently he doesn't mind women and girls either, he likes the taste of soft skin......
MJM Agreed
That's exactly what he did to Lupin.
One big reveal that happened in this book that wasn't revealed in the movie was why Harry had to live with his aunt and uncle because it ties into why Voldemort was never able to get to Harry during the Summer when he was out of Hogwarts. When Lilly cast that spell that protected Harry, it would also make him 'invisible' to the Death Eaters for 17 years, but it would only work if Harry stayed with his aunt and uncle since that was the only place where it worked. We find this out through a Howler for Petunia when they considered kicking Harry out because she was force to make a promise to keep Harry there. The Howler came from Dumbledore by the way. So yeah, even if Sirius had lived and Harry wanted to live with him, that wouldn't have been possible because of that protection spell. But with Harry turning 17 in the next book, this spell is about to die off. Someone can correct me if I am wrong though.
One thing they also don't mention in the movie series, is how by this time students are learning how to cast spells without saying the words. They're basically saying them in their heads. Like whenever Dumbledore performs magic, you don't see him saying the spell.
Except for when he says "Aresto Momentum" haha
And I feel like there was one or two more instances.
yasashi bare in mind that is all for dramatic affect for the movies lol
Ginny being a good Chaser on the team isn't because of blood alone. She was always playing and practicing on her own back home at the Burrow whenever her brothers didn't notice actually.
Technically she joined the team during Order of the Phoenix. The movies didn't really portray what happened with the Quidditch teams in that film but Umbridge got Fred, George and Harry kicked off the team when they broke out into a fight with Malfoy on the playing field in full view of the school. Ginny was brought on to replace Harry as seeker.
Hermione revealed to Harry and Ron that Ginny had been secretly breaking into their broom shed back home for a while and practicing Quidditch by herself. Even Fred and George had expressed surprise that Ginny was interested in the sport too. In the book, Harry asks her if she'd be willing to rejoin the team the next year during Half-Blood Prince. Ginny answered that she preferred trying out for Chaser. Hence, that's partially why this film doesn't just randomly add Ginny to the team with Harry.
Ginny was done such a disservice in the movies...
Tom’s performance in this is just🥺👏🏻 he did an amazing job as Draco
33:38
JV: He’s the half blood prince?
Snape: Yes. I’m the Half Blood Prince
Harry couldn’t see the thestrals from age one when he witnessed his mother’s death (15 months to be exact) because at such a young age, he wasn’t able to comprehend the concept of death. It didn’t register to him that she died at that time. Once death reveals itself to a witch or wizard who can comprehend that concept on the most basic level, then he or she will be able to see thestrals. It felt like a stretch when I first heard it, but that’s the official explanation.
But then he watched Quirrel die in year one though.
@@tytytherussianspy2778 He never saw his death he passed out as he was hearing Quirrel's scream.
Harry diddn't see Quirrel die. He at most only saw Quirrel fall over in pain, covered in burns. After which, Harry passed out and was unconsious. Voldemort then left the unconsious Quirrel to slowly die.
'Harry jumped to his feet, caught Quirrell by the arm, and hung on as tight as he could. Quirrell screamed and tried to throw Harry off - the pain in Harry’s head was building - he couldn’t see - he could only hear Quirrell’s terrible shrieks and Voldemort’s yells of, “KILL HIM! KILL HIM!” He felt Quirrell’s arm wrenched from his grasp, knew all was lost, and fell into blackness, down . . . down . . . down . . .'
It makes a lot of sense though. If you're one, then logically you can't have possibly "seen death", despite having eyes. Like... a one year old doesn't know what the hell death is, only that something is wrong, at the most basic level.
In the book he only drank a little and take the rest to his friends for the fight
He gave it to them before he left with dumbledore, because he was afraid snape would do something. Ron said that he thought it saved his life a few times.
Sorry thats just one of many things I forgot about and then get mad when I do remember because its not in the movie 😅
Wait really? Maybe that's why it's been bothering me for years how he drinks it. I could never put my finger on it but something bothered me about the way he drank it. Must have been my subconscious telling me he only took a swig in the books. Damn I gotta read them again. I forgot so much!
If you don't feel like reading John voth is on book 5 reading live. He does it Monday through Friday and he just switched from going live on Instagram to youtube. But books 1 -4 are uploaded. A couple videos got lost but most are there. He does fantastic voices. But look him up!

One thing I wish the movies would show/talk about is just how powerful/smart some of these kids are. I know you’ve mentioned before how Harry and Ginny seem so powerful, but Draco is actually one of the best wizards. He’s JUST behind Hermione in class ranking, and he was one of the first few of their age to be able to master silent spells. Even though Draco has been kind of a bully, I have a soft spot for him. He never really had a choice (I know everyone technically has to make choices, but still). Draco was raised in a home where he was constantly told “you are better than everyone because you’re pure-blood”, he was incredibly spoiled, of course he acts the way he does. I think people forget that just like Harry, he’s just a kid. He’s always ALWAYS trying to please his father and get approval from his family. It’s kind of sad.
Concerning the Thestrals: Yes, realistically, Harry not seeing the Thestrals prior to Cedric's death is a plot hole. However, that plothole is easily explained away by the simple fact that Harry was too young when his mother was killed. He doesn't actually have an active memory of that moment. He knows of it, and it did happen, but he cannot remember the moment or even the way he felt in that moment, making him unable to understand what it is like to see someone die and thus unable to see the Thestrals.
This. While it was retroactively added to fill the plot twist, J.K said later than one must not just seen death, but understand it's impact. The first time he saw death he was too young to understand/comprehend it. Quirell was not a great person and his death was in self defense and harry didn't really feel sad or affected by it. It also explains why he couldn't see them at the end of the year Sedric died, because he had not had enough time to reflect and understand the permanence of it yet.
DreadKyller I’m also pretty sure Harry didn’t *see* Quirrel die in the book. I think he got knocked out by Voldemorts soul leaving Quirrel, which in turn made Quirrel die
Also year 2 Harry and Ron arrived during the feast via the flying car - can't remember right now how they arrive 3rd and 4th year
My favorite quote from Sirius, "we all have both light and dark inside us, what matters is the part we choose to act on. That is who we truly are."
Love this.
You can apparate if you're 17, not 18. Wizards become adults at the age of 17.
I love that in the first movie you said you tried to make JV watch Harry Potter previously but he was only interested in his phone, but now he's given it a chance and he's totally engrossed in the franchise. I love watching both of your reactions x
44:29 Frank Stephenson Dillane (born 21 April 1991) is an English actor, known for his portrayal of Nick Clark on Fear the Walking Dead (2015-2018), and for playing 15-year-old Tom Riddle in the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009). He also appeared as Henry Coffin in the film In the Heart of the Sea (2015).
One thing I have never noticed is when the first memory is fading Tom’s face transforms into Voldemort as the black cloud goes upwards.

That was the promise Snape made to Narcissa (Draco’s mom) that if Draco can’t perform the task the Dark Lord has given him, he will do it. The task being to kill Dumbledore
JV: No one else he knows can die. That would be horrible.
Me: You poor soul.
You have to see death and comprehend it to being able to see thestrals. As a baby, Harry didn't understand his mother died in front of him.
In the book at the end, Harry is wearing the invisible cape and paralyze by Dumbledore. And remember it was Draco who disarm Dumbledore.
The actor for tom riddle is from Fear The Walking Dead.

The invisible horses are Thestrals. The spell Harry used on Draco was Sectumsempra. Remember, Snape had made an unbreakable vow to protect Draco

I absolutely love these movies, how have you not seen these already? They’re amazing, I don’t care what anyone says, I like Draco, I know he was a little shit in the beginning, but honestly it’s not even his dad he’s afraid of as much, it’s more of Voldemort he’s afraid of. Don’t worry, I cried when Cedric died and when his dad found him like that when he saw him 😢😢😢😢
I went to the Wizard Word at Universal Studios on HHN and it was awesome, I bought a wand and the line at the butter beer was long as hell.
What’s sad is that the original Dumbledore passed away in real life so they had to use someone that looked
just like him to play the rest.
I love snape!! I loved him from the beginning.
Yes I agree with you I wonder if they haven’t seen them already. This male reactor is incredibly intuitive or a very good actor. I love Snape as well.
Dumbledore's death was the first time I've ever cried while reading a book. that's some superb writing right there.
Scenes like the one where Harry chased Bellatrix make one of Dumbledore's great shortcoming in regard to Harry pretty apparant. Harry got next to no special training from Dumbledore or his allies except that failed mind shielding training and overcoming Demenotors. Harry nearly died every school year. It was pretty clear that he would need a greater skillset than most other people. I am not just talking about magic training. I am talking about mental training as well. Learning how to be calm could have gone a long way.
I love the cat, Professor Mcgonagall has joined the reaction!! :)
Also, JV, you are one of the most observant reactors I have ever seen, it is mind boggling how fast you catch on.

I really tried! It's so hard when you love something so much.
Child Tom Riddle was played by the Voldemort actor Ralph Fiennes' nephew, Hero Fiennes Tiffin. Cool. Teenage Tom Riddle was played by Frank Dillane. He's Nick Clark in Fear the Walking Dead.
That's cool, I never knew. So there is actually a sort of resemblance. That is very cool. But I am worried about Fiennes nephew now. He played the evil murder child very very well, especially for a kid. Too well. Maybe he's just talented. Or maybe they picked an evil kid to play an evil kid? Or Fiennes is a good teacher and showed him the tricks.
Love these reactions guys!
I am sooooo excited to see their reactions to Deathly Hallows
A couple of comments....
My first comment about Ginny: in the book, she is a firebrand. She has a sharp tongue, quick-wit about her and is way more confident than the movie portrays her. I actually don't like the actor for Ginny. She is too stiff and really kind of plain against the book description. She and Ron have some glorious rows in the 6th book. I think the movie missed the mark on that one.
Also, regarding Dumbledore's death....once again the movie missed the mark. He had immobilized Harry under his invisibility cloak against the wall so no one knew he was there. Not even Snape. What made that scene even more emotional was that Harry was trying his hardest to free himself so that he could help Dumbledore but he couldn't.
45:32 you're absolutely right. The movies did her character a real injustice. She's awesome on the books!
Half Blood Prince is the most underrated Harry Potter movie. The haunting opening music alone makes it one of my most favorites
I was really waiting for you to react to this one , love you guys and keep going 💜💜
The scene with Dumbledore in the cave saying kill me is a reference to his time with Grindlewald (I can’t spell his name apologies ) there was a huge fight, abeforth was crucioed and the result was the death of his sister. We see his pain and his guilt manifested from that potion.
The guy who plays young Tom Riddle is one of the main characters of Fear the walking dead
REALLY???
i'm aware of the vast liberties the half blood prince film takes from the books, but as a film it is my favorite of the series, it's much more mature than those prior, and is guided by dialogue and atmosphere rather than fun and whimsy (although i love that too), not to mention that it is gorgeously shot, the death of Dumbledore is an event impossible to forget, in the page or the screen...
Filmmaking is about taking artistic liberties, Cuaron isn't the only director allowed to in Harry Potter. Yates' films are amazing too. I love HBP it's my favorite, such an emotional and visually strong slow burn.

@@Heru_Iluvatar No he hasn't if I'm being honest, if anything his directing is carrying it. The first Fantastic Beasts is really fun and good, it was a good prequel. How often is that said, a good prequel? The second's script was not tight at all, I would say his directing elevated it quite a bit.
The scene of Dumbledore casting the fire storm in the cave was the cover image of some editions of the book. It definitely made me want to keep reading to find out what the scene was
I’ve been on a reaction video kick and just discovered you guys! Excited to see what you think of the next couple movies! Cheers 🍻
the part when "Dumbledore's Farwell" plays and they film entire school raising their wands is death
The reason for the disconnect with the thestrals is not because Jo hadn't written it yet- she had most of the plot plotted out. The reason is because to see the thestrals, you have to see death and understand it. The 15 month old Harry couldn't have know what has happening, or really have understood it. It was Cedric who he saw die, and understood what was happening...
This is by far my favorite.
I’m surprised you guys talked about the music in the first three movies and didn’t mention John Williams was the composer. (Sorry, I studied music in college)

They cut scenes in this movie. There should have been a fight between the Order with DA and the Death Eaters. If I remember correctly, the Death Eaters main goal was to kill Dumbledore and then disappear. Harry drink a bit of the liquid luck and gave some of it to members of the DA.
Just thought I'd clarify that in the UK you can have a small amount of alcohol from the age of 5 with a meal in your own home or at private parties. In pubs you cannot order alcohol at the bar but you are allowed a small serving of wine, beer or cider with your meal from the age of 16, although most pubs policies don't allow this despite it being legal. You cannot purchase alcohol until you are 18 from a store or at a pub.
Hello, I am from Chile and my English is very bad but I really enjoy how they live one of my favorite movies. I look forward to the next ❤️
I also thought Harry didn't see the thestrials until year 5 because he hadn't made it to school normally at the start of term since year one when they went by boat. Something always happened the interfered with him trying to get to school. The actor playing teen Tom is in Fear the Walking dead and Sense8 on Netflix.
Ginny actually ends up playing quidditch professionally for a all female quidditch team which is dope as hell
we are literally re watching all the Harry Potter and half blood prince is next to watch. Thats awesome lol
This film is so beautifully shot
The potion wasn't causing pain. It was making him remember of terrible things, putting terrible thoughts on his mind. :/
That's greatest pain though
Lmfao that intro, yalls faces has me dying I was crying 😂😂😂😂😂
The spell from the book is Sectum Sempra xD
amazing quality videos!
Okay, normally I give cute couple stuff a gag, but you guys got an aww from me with your intro. Well played, madam and sir, well played.
I was waiting for you guys. Hi from Brazil!
Adivinhou coisas absurdas. Mas blz, continue acreditando.
