I love that Alexis just ran with her father - she didn't question where he was taking her she just held his hand and ran where he went. Blind trust - trusting that her father was going to get her to safety. And he did. I'm so glad that they had Alexis and Castle's relationship be this way from the start of the show, it really paid off in this arc. Some kids don't have that kind of relationship where they can just put blind faith in their father like that.
Alexis should've deserved to meet her paternal grandfather after what she went through when she was kidnapped and the motive for the kidnapping was revenge against her paternal grandfather.
Even if Castle's 2nd ex-wife, Gina, had heard that her ex-stepdaughter had been kidnapped and that it was because of a grudge against her paternal grandfather, would she have given him a piece if her mind for Alexis getting kidnapped along with a friend of hers if she got to meet him?
If Castle‘s 1st ex-wife Meredith,Alexis‘ mother,met Castle‘s father after Alexis was saved from her kidnappers,she would‘ve argue with him for not raising Castle,being there for his wedding and for the birth of Castle‘s daughter. Meredith would‘ve blamed him for Alexis getting kidnapped by a bad guy he put away. Maybe Meredith would‘ve slapped Castle‘s father in the face.
Castle would've been surprised if that US Marine at the US Embassy in Paris, France, told him that he has read some of Castle's books after Castle came there following his saving Alexis from bad guys because their leader wanted revenge on Castle's father.

Beckett could‘ve helped Castle rescue his daughter in Paris if he brought her with him rather than go there alone. But if Beckett did go with him there to save Alexis,would she have an arguement with his father for not raising his son and being the cause of his granddaughter being kidnapped because of the revenge of a bad guy he put away?
This was not about Beckett though, this was about Castle. If Beckett had gone with him, it becomes less about Castle and his journey in this episode, it takes away from the plot and the reveal about his father.
This was sadly the beginning of the end for the series. This was one of the worst, most unnecessarily convoluted plots they had - and further episodes with Castle's "dad" or other spycraft got increasingly bad (to say nothing of the ridiculously overdone and frankly stupid subplot with the senator who had Beckett's mother killed). I loved the show, but the big overreaching umbrella "plots" they wrote were just terrible and cliche.

I loved the show, but the big overreaching umbrella "plots" they wrote were just terrible and cliche.
