Thanks John, I always learn something and liked your file tool so much I made one this afternoon. I had something like the one you do not particularly like and am ready to try the new one on my current build. Thanks and Cheers Russell

A good substitute for the micromesh files are fingernail polishing sticks. Not to be confused with emery boards, these are simply for polishing and not shaping.

I totally agree with you that the angled filing blocks are a pain. They are guaranteed to scratch the top of the frets even if you clean them regularly. After 60 fret boards I have developed a slightly different method than you but not necessarily better. Thanks for letting us see how you do it.

You are right about angled file systems- even embedded in plastic or wood holders. They can slip and end up scoring the frets with file marks. Not good! Your method is better!

I noticed on the video that you have put a 45-degree angle on the fretboard once you had filed the frets down. You also put some marks in the fretboard when filing the edges of each fret. It which video di you rectify these errors as I can't find it.

What size frets do you use? They look like jumbo.

We use Van Gent Extra Jumbo for a lot of our guitars. www.chickenbonejohn.com/collections/fretboards-fretwire/products/fretwire-xtra-jumbo
