  • Annie started as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch but didn’t stay there for very long. Today, you will find her at well-known clubs in Berlin & London working as a DJ.
Annie Oelmann started her career as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in London after her studies at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. Although this might look like the typical start of a successful business career Annie had a sudden realisation that this was not what she wanted to do in the future. She turned her life 180 degrees around and now follows a career path that is probably unbelievable to many following studies in a business context. After she quit her job as an investment banker she was earning her living through part-time jobs while exploring the music scene of London. Later on she started doing online marketing for startups. She still felt uncomfortable with that kind of work and decided to focus on her DJ career. Today, she is better known as Annie O and you will find her at well-known clubs in Berlin and London where she works as a successful DJ. In her talk “Acknowledging your inner compass” Annie is going to tell her personal story.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

A lot of people commenting have never achieved at the level she has...in either discipline.
Not all is about money, and not everyone wants kids or a fancy car or something.
You have to do what makes you happy.
If she wants to be a banker or do something more traditional when she is older...it will not be a problem.
But try starting out as a DJ at the age of 50 or 60.
Everything has its place and time + it seems like she has a good handle on her life.
    Good job Annie.

anyone who wouldn't hire me at 30 or 40 based on photos of me in my twenties isn't someone i want to work for. but unless this is also your ethos, you aren't expected to understand.

Life outside the office is very much more than inside the cabin. I am in constant battle with myself to make a decision. The conundrum slowly becomes a baggage if you don't make the call.

Well done Annie! My girl!. True inspiration to me personally, your journey is so similar to mine. I have been "suffocating" for years in the Advertising industry but decided to follow my passion/path which is dj'ying 4 years ago!

Excellent video content! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you considered - Chiveard Discovering Potential Framework (just google it)? It is a good one off guide for finding your true calling and achieving success without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy at last got great success with it.
