Oh yeah, PROK TIME
😂 I knew if I wrote pork the meat heads would lose their mind… so I got creative with it
@@SauceStache I love it. I'm calling fake pork, PROK from now on
It was probably a typo, considering the title is correct
Prok Rops
I am doing this without the rice paper "skin" with corstarch only and noone could tell it is not pork. Much cheaper and easier then rice paper one... maybe not that textured, but still great option if you use a non-stick pan with a little bit of oil adding when needed.
I made this today, adding some 5-spice to the initial soy chunk cook, and made a char siu sauce to go on while cooking. Instead of an air fryer I used a veggie grate on my grill. These are seriously delicious and replicate that fatty texture I love. Thanks for the recipe!
So I recently went vegan and I I've been obsessed with your videos trying to find the perfect BBQ pork recipe not pulled pork and not massive ribs more like something simple too satisfy my recent BBQ craving and randomly I look on my feed and I see this video and I'm shook being that you posted it like 3 hours ago OMG sauce you read my mind you are a lifesaver and so much more 😭😍💜💜💜💜💜🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾💜💜💜💜
ahhh I love when that happens!!! I hope you enjoy!! These are great
@@SauceStache naking for sunday dinner you better know it 😂💥🤗
Thanks for going vegan. The animals and the world really appreciate it!
@@user-iv6lt2rl6h thank you so much friend Literally the best decision I've Made in a while so blessed and honored to be able to do my part 🙌🏾🦋💜🌻

Hello Mark, I watch your videos on and of and just like your enthusiasm and positivity.
I am especially impressed by your weight loss! You were looking healthy before already, but I am just really happy seeing you how you seem to be right now.
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate that
That looks incredible!
Also, love that despite your sauce making prowess, you’re still ok with using Sweet Baby Ray’s in a pinch like if you run out of ingredients for your own.
Hey Sauce... could you give Tandoori meats a try? I have always wanted to explore it and I am convinced it would really taste like meat after that process.
I was just talking with my partner about finding something I can use to recreate the chili verde I grew up with and needed something just like this!
How funny!! 😂 I just made wheat gluten pork chops this weekend! The recipe was a lot like a Czech knedlíky in its process.
Very creative way to use the rice paper, too!
Thanks so much 😊
Perhaps a little diff seasoning but I think this method would be INCREDIBLE in a sweet n sour pork dish!
PROK 😎
I love how you described the rice-paper rolled pieces as a bean with meat chunks on the inside, made me laugh :D
Overall, what a BOMB recipe! It definitely has all the characteristics you'd hope for in a meat substitute!
I love your videos and appreciate the insights and knowledge gained from watching your videos.
Wow! That looks amazing, definitely going to try. Takes a bit of time it appears, but that looks worth it. Great ideas from a consistently great channel.
You never fall to blow me away with your great ideas 💕✊✌️🌿
I was wanting to try doing this with your pork belly recipe. This looks better but definitely more involved.
I'll have to try this and what I was thinking of doing with the pork belly one too. :3
Ohh adding a squeeze of lemon 🍋 🤌🏻
Absolutely outstanding video! Freaking amazing!!!
looks great!!!
Poor Monica, says "its hot" and you could see the steam pouring out of the piece you broke open for us!! I'm sorry we laughed! That steamy piece made us very very hungry! We've used the rice paper to fry up as a snack, it's like a miracle, but Ive been wanting to do some spring rolls or something - this is PERFECT! Thanks so much for the recipe and know how!! YUM!
For anyone that doesn't know, if you want affordable TVP, buy it imported from Caribbean countries, some supermarkets have them if there's a Caribbean community in the area. The TVP sold online is way overpriced.
I've found cheap TVP at my local Mexican supermarket.
Looks great
Amazing, love the "bean" wrapping technique you've done here!
Dude i love your recipes and your energy. The most motivational cooking show out there.
And the loads of vegan recipes!!
What an experience.
Keep it up💪🏻🙏🏻🎉❤️
those look like they would make a hell of a quesadilla, and I like how you could take the coating in any direction you liked, like the whole process could be identical but instead of barbecue you could go like south asian spicy sweet pork, or you could go like a garlic and onion sort of western european basil and oregano sort of deal, or really however you wanted to go with that. I like that a lot. You weren't really locked into any kind of 'direction' for it until you applied the coating to the chunks right before they went into the air fryer. Smart!
These look incredible, and what a cool idea. I always forget about rice paper's ability to add great texture. Have a bunch of soy chunks and will be trying this out for sure.
Looks delicious
Wow, they look great.
Thank you!!
On my list to make. I fell in love with prok 😆
I'm here for the hot ham (flavor) water at 3:00
looks good
This looks fun to try. Not too hard at all!
It's pretty easy!!! A little time consuming, but pretty easy
Hi just watched this amazing vid. Does fakemeats deliver to the Wales , UK ?
Aww hell yeah. We're having a garden party in a few weeks prok tacos just got added to the menu.
This looks fantastic. Need to find a good source of TVP over here in NL.
Also wondering how to do the flavoring (since this brand certainly doesn't ship here).
Thank you, good idea. I make my own textured soy protein, so this is next on my menu!!😊
Pray…how? I have been searching to find how and only come up with dehydrating tofu….please carollen🙏
Gonna reply just in case an answer comes back. I wanna know too!
Recipe please 😊
@@minnoux /// hello you want to know about textured soy? First you need soybeans, at least 2 cups dry. Wash the beans well in cold water. Next let the soybeans sit in cold water overnight. Next day, drain the water. In a large pot cover the beans with fresh cold water, at least 3" of water above the soybeans. Boil the beans, watch closely it doesn't boil over. Skim the foam which collects on the surface and discard it. Keep doing this till there's no more foam. It will take 3 hours of boiling, no lid on med-low heat which you will keep adjusting so there's no boil-over. Stir the beans once in a while, it it stops boiling crank up the heat a bit. The soybeans will be soft when done, check them by pressing a bean with your fingers, if not easy to press, the beans are not ready. When done drain the water. Let the soybeans cool down completely. When cool, process the soybeans in food processor till pasty or smooth. Form the paste in any size balls or pieces you want and place on a large cookie sheet, let dry in oven temp 200* F Top or middle oven rack.
Or use an electric food dehydrator till dry and crunchy. You can use food processor or coffee grinder to make granular textured soybean crumbs. The texture is up to you. You're now ready to use in a recipe. It's best to fry your other ingredients first, then add textured soy, with a bit of vegan veg broth... it will give it more flavor. Adding lots of seasoning is important. It makes good ground vegan meats for pasta sauces, also can be used along with Vital Wheat Gluten Flour, however, the textured soy will need to be a finer texture, use coffee grinder. This is a good combo for making firmer meatless cuts. Recipes are available on youtube. This is the most economical way to make Textured Soy Protein. Practice makes perfect. Good luck.
@@carollen5633You are very kind, thankyou for replying to my message and grateful for your recipe, I will definitely give this a try. I am looking for the chewy bouncy textured TVP chunks which I was under the impression needs specialized machinery. Is your textured soy protein like the bought dried TVP chunks?
Oh man, broccoli and this pork would be epic! I've been craving a v-meat+veggie combo to take me back to the days of Panda Express, and I think this is the way to go! Thank you, Master Meater! You sure know how to reverse-engineer mammal flesh like a pro!
That looks great. I wonder how it would be with yuba as the skin?
With Yuba skins I believe it would be fantastic.
Thank you!! yeah probably pretty good! I bet Yuba would give a similar texture... maybe a little less fatty texture
It might make a good crispy crackling on top of a vegetarian lechon belly! Yuba can get pretty crispy.
@@reggietkatter I tried this technique this morning at the restaurant. It was a little different as mine used Asado braised seitan, and I pan seared mine before hitting it with a torch. It turned out glorious and I’ll be sharing pics on my IG and shorts.
Mark once again hitting us with a game changer.
I need this in a bao bun with Korean BBQ sauce. Today. ✨
I don't do the oil, but this does look good for those that do. I do want to thank you for telling us about fake meats site. They have shelf stable smoked tofu, so I bought 6 pack of that and soy curls (best price anywhere) and some better than bouillon to get free shipping. Unfortunately, the smoked tofu isn't good to me, like the refrigerator kind I could get before the pandemic, but now nowhere to be found. 😭 It's too dark and dry. I may try the other plant basics things you show sometime. 👍 Oh, and they shipped fast. 😉
what about trying the rice paper method with tofu? I think I want to try it!
Reminds me of Gardein's Porkless Bites. They're pretty good. Yours look better, of course.
I literally passed by this video because I didn't think it was vegan lol
Wild right?! Sometimes I wonder if that happens with my thumbnails hahah
Hot puppies, THIS should make my formerly-meat-loving vegan friend happy on our summer visit!
Is there a substitute for the tvp, for those of yd that's allergic to soy products? Thank you in advance
This brand has a version made from pea protein
I wonder if Spice Affair’s Everything Bacon Vegan Seasoning would work instead since I already have that.
Mmm, delichus prok 😋
The skin on textured protein looks like it'd make a good General Tso
Nice. Your knowledge of food science and how different ingredients behave shows you don't need to abuse animals for meat-like food.
♥
We get soya chunks in India so i was wondering if i could use them instead of textured protein?!
I use soya chunks and I think its probably very similar, give it a try!
Do TVP chunks work?
Think soy curls would suffice?
What did he say before bun? It would go great on a what
Love bbq prok
The world needed it
mmm love prok
“And yet there’s a smack of ham to it.”
Iove prok
the thumbnail reads "PROK" instead of 'PORK"
yup!! I knew if I wrote Pork that the meatheads would flip out...
@@SauceStache i love that they get so offended at it, they want this content to go away but then they feed the algorithm by commenting. go get 'em, stache :)
@@SauceStache no question about that!
Come on sauce stache, air fryers are easy. Dehydrators are hard 😎
This tasted great and had a good texture, however it was such a PITA to make, I probably won't make it again. A+ recipe, but I think I must have like negative-200 IQ or something because rolling up a line of little "beans" in a slippery rice paper sheet was about as easy as giving a cat a bath in mineral oil. Even after letting it hang out in the fridge, the rice paper never actually shrank around the cubes so once I started cutting them into sections, it just all fell apart!!! I don't have an air fryer or a convection oven, but I put them under the broiler, and they tasted fantastic. I think I'll skip the rice paper next time though. (I love this brand of protein, and the bouillon powders too!)
MY MAAAAAAN!!!
My MAAAAAAAAAANNNN!!!
Prok?? Haha I prefer "Porq" 😁
Hahaha Porq is good too! haha
Finally a prok recipe 😂😂😂😂
It's what the world needed!
Funny thing but even when I wasn’t vegan, I was never really into pork. My thing was chicken mainly and seafood.
Sounds good but I'm not adding the sweet ingredients. I don't like sweet meat
Ah yes, Prok. A classic.
LMAO, the thumbnail pic says "Prok Burnt Ends" and from now on that's what I'm calling Mock Pork = Prok..also sounds very Vulcan, and they're at least vegetarians, if not vegans, yeah? ;)
If you make something salty and fatty most people will like, so I have learned. 😀 Great video.
What kind of sorcery is this??? 🤯😋
I would never eat the meat version because i hate fatty meat but I'm 100% doing this
on the thumbnail it's written Prok...
I knew if I wrote pork the meat heads would lose their minds
@@SauceStache ohhhh gotcha!!!
Please do vegan black pudding next
Yes!! V-pud is a good reference starting point but would love to see something more like clonakilty black pudding!
🤮
😂 😂 Noooooo!
PROK!
Would love to see you fake the ham flavour, the sponsor might not though 😂
Ohhhhh Pork! Damn, I thought "Prok" was a vietnamese dish or smth.
PROK :)

Assalammualaikum
Looks like orange chicken😮
Is there a recipe for this? I really want to try it.
It's always confused me the number of vegan dishes that try to replicate the taste of meat. Why would a vegan even try it?
Because it tastes good and taste has nothing to do with not eating meat
I don't have an air fryer... What else, in the oven?
Can they make broccoli taste like ham?😅😅😅😅
Trying to make ham was the worst thing I ever made! Such a waste😒 I know, pork, not ham, but still sounds good 👍
prok for soyboys
can u put the spices insted of telling us to go buy an overpriced packet of sesonings? i know they sponsor ytou but still, everything on that site, esp the sesonings are wayyy too overpriced. im like liwer class. the point of cooking for me is to also save money.
i was gonna finish watching the vid but theres no point since all the flaver comes from that packet that i have no idea whats in it so i cant replicate it, and i sure as hell am not gonna wast money on this overpriced stuff
I don't see why you should make vegan food look like real meat ... I wouldn't like it because of the structure. I don't even like some veggie burgers because they remind me of proper hamburgers...
The reason why is because I want to... thats really it. The look also plays into the textures. I can't make a texture that meat like without it looking meat like.
I don’t understand why vegans try to imitate meat so much, it seems like a lot of effort when you could you could spend that time and creativity making something totally unique to vegan cuisine. Tofu wasn’t vegan at all in the societies that invented it but vegans forgo that history of it being served alongside meat and bringing its own tastiness to meals to make it taste like meat. I wonder how this would taste without the pork flavoring or such a huge emphasis on trying to make it as pork-like as possible. It’s so weird to me as a non vegan who enjoys vegan foods to see these imitations. I just don’t see the point in it. If you can’t be vegan without these foods why aren’t you eating humanely raised meat and if you find the idea of eating another being repulsive how is the concept of imitating meat not repulsive to you as well?
sometimes it’s for health reasons like i can’t have red meat and i really miss it so i like having something similar and also i don’t eat pork so imitating it to make PROK can be fun because it allows me to try recipes that i wouldn’t ever try in the first place . Just let people have fun with their food, it’s literally not hurting you. Also i’m not vegan but have been eating more plant based recently due to health reasons.
also at least for my vegan friends, the fact it doesn’t come from an animal is enough to make it appealing to them. it’s different for everyone.
It is more important to stop supporting animal agriculture (which is destroying the planet) and killing animals than to get people to turn vegan for the "right" reasons. We dont care why people become vegan, as long as they turn vegan. If it takes eating fake meat or making food taste like meat, so be it.
You do not have any viable reason to continue killing animals and supporting animal agriculture, so please turn vegan, use whatever reason you think you need to rely on to justify veganism, just do it :)
I agree with you on another note all those extra ingredients sauces etc cannot be healthy. I am not vegan just trying to reduce my meat intake for health. I do not get all the extra work to make this fake this and that.
Love your recipes but not gonna lie, that looks like cat food lmao
I’m not going to try a labor-intensive recipe that starts with a $12/lb processed food product. Sponsor or not.
Good for you! hahah thats the great thing about a recipe is you choose the ones you make... Also that pound of textured protein makes about 5lb meat
Just eat veggies ! This isn’t right
Let people have fun with their food.
This is like fake toxic food ingredients in China but re marketed in the Canada and America.
Aren’t hotdogs fake too?
Looks great
