AN INSANELY DELICIOUS VEGGIE BURGER THAT WON'T HAVE YOU MISSING MEAT! I wanted to make a veggie burger that rivaled beyond meat and impossible meat but was kind of like a hybrid veggie burger. This is a combination of veggie burger and textured protein, but the protein is made from Pea Protein! This comes out INSANELY Good and I think you for sure won't be missing meat after this!
I was inspired to make this by ‪@samthecookingguy‬ after his veggie burger. His burger wasn't vegan, but I changed that and made mine 100% plant based vegan burger!
This uses the plant basics textured crumbles with pea protein, shiitake mushrooms, plant basics beef seasoning, onions, black beans, egg replacer, and wheat gluten to make the base of the burger.
I then topped it with avocado and made a jalapeño, caramelized onion topping!!

Use a wide mouth ball jar lid and ring to form the burgers. Push the lid/burger out of the ring. Twist the lid off the burger or use a sharp knife. Each burger will be exactly the same size and thickness.

I love experimenting with plant based burgers - the combination of beans and tvp has been my fave for years and recently I also started to add some vwg. It is just such a nice base in terms of texture and nutrition! I've also made meatballs using this "recipe" and they work our perfect every single time.
I love the addition of chopped shiitake though! Haven't though about it before.
    Lots and lots of love!
    Have a great week ahead!

The veggie burger recipe I've been tinkering with is actually somewhat similar to this structurally, which is very validating to me. :P Like you, I use a little bit of wheat gluten as the binder, not enough to make it a seitan burger or taste strong, but enough to help it hold together. It works very well.

I've been making hybrid burgers using ground turkey or pork and TVP. About 50/50 mix. Like the hybrid veggie burger, they are a little softer than regular beef, but after cutting out red mean and making hybrid burgers/meatballs, I've cut my cholesterol by 33% from last year.

I recently watched your life journey video.
So this video came up on my feed today and I was excited because my wife and I have tried the Impossible Meats type product. I did not like them at all but my wife was somewhat ok.
I know you are a chef and obviously love to create. I am on a better health journey as well and eat very little meat. I was excited until I saw that what was involved. I am a lazy vegan. My wife, while she is not a lazy cook, does lean toward simple dishes.
I appreciate the work you put into this. I’m sure many of your viewers will enjoy the burger.
    Thanks!

    • @SauceStache
      @SauceStache  8 місяців тому +4

I was so on the edge of adding methylcellulose!!!! I almost did it but decided to try without. It would totaly help the snap in the end as this was missing some of that like I said in the end, its still a bit soft, but the flavor and texture along with everything else in the burger was really great. The egg replacer and gluten really helped

Interesting that you put up this hybrid burger recipe around the same time I started messing around with adding different thing to beef burgers. Instead of using all beef, why not save money and cut back on the demand for beef? I've tried going about 50/50 beef and black bean, and then beef and mushroom. The black beans added a pretty distinct flavour, but it was still pretty good, and the mushroom burgers are a bit bland, I might need to change the recipe to make that one work. I do wanna try tofu and chick peas though. If you still wanna eat meat, why not at least cut out 50%? 🤷

An odd question I've been meaning to ask for a long time... Have you ever thought of removing your sense of smell from the equation to see if you can make even better plant based meat?
I lost my sense of smell as a kid in an accident so don't know the world most take for granted, what I have experienced with some fake meats is odd after tastes and I wonder if that is because I have no sense of smell to mask it.
I've heard you mention annoying after tastes in older videos and just wonder if trying some old recipes without smell it might give you a different perspective and new ideas.
Thanks for all you do. x

TVP is such a highly processed food that I only eat it on rare occasion. So interesting post but not for me cause there is too much evidenced-based data that consistently proves that the stuff is not for people who are serious about their health. And also too much fat.
