New Stuff:
Stomps can be canceled
air SPD has increased juggle potential
f+mk, d+mk, f+hp all have increased frame advantage
d+hp causes a ground bound on punish counter
final hit of lariat causes a juggle (you could technically combo with lv1 in the old patch but now you can hit with much more stuff)

unfortunately, he doesn't use these new combos yet. Although he waited a long time for the patch.
True, anything that he does is Better now, better Damage, Meter build, Drive Drain, etc.

this video rules because it actually puts into perspective how ass gief was last season. (i know he's still not perfect probably but still) i know so little of gief in this game that some of the stuff made me think "wait he couldn't do that? wow"
As a Gief player since SFV, he has come leaps and bounds since then. In SFV, his juggles were oddly restrictive (e.g. c. HP can only combo into sweep, you can't continue the juggle with any other normal), and he had maybe 3 combos. So even seeing him having actual combos in Season 1 of SF6 was fantastic. Now he's even more awesome. Capcom finally noticed him.

@@MammaSomariYeah, I think literally everyone in _XvSF_ has some type of infinite, even Gief. Pretty sure some characters have multiple infinites too given how busted that game is even by the Marvel Vs. series standards.

its always weird when there are certain moves in fight games like that double stomp that just has no utility outside of
"it is a move in their moveset". no comboing off it, cant be comboed in to, cant be cancelled.
so its nice to see that changed for once in one of these.

As a Honda player, these buffs somehow feel like a personal attack.
This is such a cool update for Gief.
Gotdamn Gief's alpha 2 gold theme just makes this awesome vid even better 11/10.
If this keeps up like this including juggles, connections, etc, then this will become Killer Instinct and Tekken.
Holy f they turned Gief into a combo monster and the universal change for parry also buffed his command grab. But I'm baffled when i saw some Gief main said these buff are useless lol, when in fact these buff catapult his strength through the roof. In season 1 Gief is low tier but this season he's definitely at least B+ or A tier.
No hes still probably low tier, probably a more fun one, maybe even if youre high a mid tier. None of these changes make him a higher tier characfer, just more powerful in the things hes already good at and put him a tiny bit more in line with simple things that the rest of cast can do. He still has the worst wakeup defense in the game, the weakest and most inconsistent non punish counter combos, terrible anti airs. Etc etc. He is much better now but only in a more functional capacity. Saying he went from bottom 3 to high tier is crazy

Also, 1) _"worst wakeup defense"_ ? Right now Gief can do wake up Drive Reversal which is very useful outside wake up Super lvl 3 or wake up parry > SPD. Bruh, Lariat is one of the most consistent anti-air in the game when all you need to do is push is TWO punch button. Now you can even combo EX Lariat > Super lvl 3. And there's also air SPD.

2) idk why u said its bs with no evidence. Outside of punish counter combos, most of his combos are like 3 lights, maybe into lariat if youre lucky. Compare this to literally every other character in the game. Gief has the weakest and most inconsistent confirms in the game. Thats a fact
3) you cant anti air with ex lariat into level 3. That doesnt work, its grounded only

@@EXFrost 1) You obviously never read his frame data. FYI. Super lvl 1 has *complete invicibility from frame 1-17* . Super lvl 2 with 18 frame startup only for charged version and it is FAIR considering it has *complete invicibility from frame 1-18 and invicibilty against projectile from frame 19-122* . The charged version also gave juggle combo + corner carry. As for Super lvl 2 without charge, it *doesn't even have frame startup* aka it'll come out the moment you finish the input and it gave bigger damage + side switch property compare to charged version.
And yes, he did has moves with invicibility. Normal lariat has *invicibilty against projectile from frame 6-45* , OD lariat has *projectile invicibility from frame 1-36 and mid-air attack from frame 6-12* . Not to mention Gief has armor for his bear grab and heavy punch charge. So what more do you want here, a raging demon for Gief?
2) You know it is BS if you really played Gief. His bnb headbutt > hellstab / crouch MP > lariat is really consistent and gave good damage. Now after buffed he can do more consistent combo routes with bigger damage, just like desk showed in this video.
3) Ok i forgot the combo must be in the ground but i'm not wrong OD lariat can combo into lvl 3.
I did played Gief, watched a ton of them, and even learn his frame data despite he's not my main. But did you even played Gief cause, no offense bud, you seem *clueless af* for his basic info.

Stomps were special cancellable but only on the thrid hit which doesn't combo from the second hit. And for air spd, the problem was that it straight up couldn't combo eithout meter
