Nice work and also glad to see another fan of malikeith . He kicked my ass first play through but he was a difficult but fair and fun. Him and Mesmer are my favorite bosses.
Completely disagree with Malenia. Waterfowl dance is what makes the fight so intense. Knowing at any point if you don't time your dodges or have the stamina for it, she could heal back to full health and you're back to square one. Even without it she was still a fun fight and very memorable
Big agree, i kind of like that it's unfair, bc that increases the stakes. It is possible to perfect dodge it, and it is a lot easier when doing it on uneven terrain for the extra frame it gives.
Good video overall, I agree with most of it, but I’ll talk about the stuff that I strongly disagree with: 1. Malenia being in C tier is a crime, I don’t think it’s really a valid point to still be lamenting WFD, most people got used to it & are able to avoid it consistently, yes it needs very tight timings on sprint-jumping & rolling, but that’s OK if we have that one move where it needs more than just rolling randomly, why isn’t it OK? 2. Your findings at 26:55 about Commander Giaus charge attack are objectively incorrect & can be demonstrably proven wrong, it can be consistently dodged by rolling left or right of the charge JUST before it smashes you, it has a very tight timing, but it can be rolled out of, I see you in your footage that you’re trying to roll through it, you can’t, because the boar’s hitbox is too big for you to through, it’s not because it’s unfair, and his hitboxes are pretty polished, except his backwards foot kick, sometimes it hits you twice resulting in you sustaining 2 hits at the same time, the fight, while annoying in the learning process, is seriously one of the most fun fights in the DLC, I give him a solid B tier. (Please watch my hitless video ua-cam.com/video/6wbbPPHv24s/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared) 3. Mohg B tier? Are you serious? And what’s that about you not wanting to use that physick tear that protects you from his Nihil attack just because you have the “Souls elitist” mindset? You’re doing it to yourself, all these mechanics are in there to give purpose to the open-world & for you to experiment & have fun, what I love the most about Elden Ring is that it absolutely broke & humiliated the “Souls veteran” mentality to the ground with groundbreaking new boss moveset designs & an open-world design that flips the script 180 degrees, it made design choices that were better for the Souls series & FromSoft’s experience as a studio, shifting from their previous rather largely same-y rehashed projects (excluding Sekiro), the Nihil attack is there to subvert your expectations and actually one of the coolest ways to phase transition in the history of Soulsborne genre, it gives greater challenge & adds that sense of awe like “you’re so screwed” type of thing, it’s so memorable, ofc I don’t want every boss or enemy to do some unavoidable damage like that, but it’s very cool if you dashed a bit of it onto the player, it spices things up in an unexpectedly good way. S tier all the way & he’s in my top 10 best bosses in FromSoft’s history. 😅
Hey thank you so much for watching and the thoughtful response! When I watch these kinds of videos I want to be entertained or talk about something they love. So I mentioned during the video it wasn't supposed to be "objective." I don't think those are fun to watch or make. So essentially Gaius and Malenia came down to me having a huge skill issue 😂 but I think a lot of players would relate to that. I watched your hitless video you gotta remember not everyone plays as well as you do! And as for Mohg, I love that boss but I'm a big fanboy for this game... Honestly anything in B tier is still something I absolutely love. The "inner souls elitists" comment was me going off script for a second and maybe that didn't exactly land how I meant it. Sorry for the long response but I figured it was ok since you gave a thoughtful comment!a
@@SeanySalamiYT No it's all good, I think I came across too aggressive & combative with my comment, I'm sorry. I loved your video BTW. Yeah I do think not everyone is going to find Malenia's Waterfowl Dance to be good, and I can sympathize with that sentiment, I also do think it is too unintuitive of an attack & kinda left a bad taste in the mouths of most players, I was too, I hated it, as of now I don't like it nor hate it, it's a "whatever" attack to me, when she does it, I'll avoid it, simple as that, but you gotta admit, it's so satisfying when you dodge it successfully. About Gaius, yeah his charge attack surprised me too, I was upset, until I learned it with my nose on the ground with such exasperation lol, maybe that was why many hated the boss, he's so underrated overall IMO at least. And yeah about the "inner Souls" thing, forget what I said about it, it's OK.
Can’t believe content this clean only has 300 views. You’re going big, I’m glad to say I was here early. Edit: Your critique with Malenia matches my opinion exactly. Waterfowl dance is what I like to call “artificial difficulty.” I had a similar experience with Consort Radahn. Having moves that, honestly, I don’t think were designed to be avoidable, makes the game harder, by being unfair. Elden Ring has some great examples of difficulty that feels fair, like Morgott, but Malenia ain’t it. Also I’d consider her clash with Radahn as a tie.
Dude thank you so much! And ton Malenia I stand by most of what I said but I was also more harsh because I was struggling with her on my current run when I made that part of the video 😂 and it was definitely a tie but I like to treat that whole debate like sports. Radahan fanboys and malenia simps won't ever change their minds but it's fun to debate anyway lol
Wow, good stuff. Obviously, I don't agree with this entire list, but putting Consort Radahn in the S tier is based as hell so I will easily forgive you for placing Malenia in the C tier. 1. Waterfowl Dance is one of those moves that sucks to deal with at first, but speaking from personal experience, once I learned how to dodge it super consistently, it stopped bothering me completely. And no, I'm not an elitist Souls player or anything of that caliber. I just happen to like studying boss attacks that seem unfair or unintuitive at first but are actually perfectly dodgeable with enough practice. Call it a design issue, but if it stops bothering me personally, then I don't see why I should complain about it. Malenia is still a boss that takes 100s of attempts to fully click with some people, and I understand why people still hate her to this day. She's not meant for everyone, and that's fine. 2. Mohg at B tier isn't a bad placement, but even no-hit runners, some of the most elitist players in the Souls community, use a specific physick just to counter that Bloodflame attack, so it's not a big deal. This is an attack that is an exception for a no-hit run, so I see no reason why anyone should complain about it. 3. Commander Gaius is unironically a good boss. A+ tier in my book. I used to complain about his charged attack just like you, but It IS objectively NOT impossible to dodge his charged attack consistently. I don't have a video to prove that I can do so myself, but there is nothing broken about Gaius! I saw another commenter on here pointing out that it's consistently dodgeable, and he's right. You just need to go back and study how to dodge it until it no longer bothers you, same thing with Malenia. Watch a video if you must. No need to hold on to the mindset that has held this community back for ages. If you play on PC, you have no excuses, as you can utilize online save files from Nexus and even a popular cheat engine table that can revive the bosses without having to spend hours replaying most of Elden Ring. Now, I don't condone cheating ofc, but this tool is so unbelievably effective and useful that I felt like I should mention it. Ofc, you should only do this offline though lol. 4. Morgott is amazing. Easily an S+ tier boss fight. Just fight him with a weapon below +10 and at NG+ or above (cheat engine table makes it possible to change the NG plus cycle from +1 to +7 without having to replay the game all over again, so take advantage of this!), and that HP issue that he has will no longer be a thing. Sadly, you can't do this on PS4 or PS5, but on PC, it's not a big issue. Still, it does suck that you have to hold yourself back just to enjoy this fight to the fullest, but I don't consider this a bad thing because I prefer to rank bosses at their fullest potential rather than their current state. Otherwise, very, very good video and list. You can only get better from here. Keep this up!
1.I learned how to dodge waterfowl but I still think it's too much and not a fair attack. For Mohg I think I sounded harsh with my tier placement but anything B or above is a boss I love. I mentioned to someone else I went off script mentioning the physik and it's not that important. 3. Someone else commented about Gaius attacks as well so next playthrough I'm going to give it another go and see about that charge! 4. Morgott is amazing on my file that's above NG+7 where he has more health. Sadly I'm on console and don't have cheat engine 😭 Appreciate the feedback and the thoughtful comment! 😁
I thought i was insane when I fought gaius I was so confused why I got punished on so much of his moves and I thought it was just poor hitboxes but I just assumed it was a skill issues
I've got my disagreements with this list, some more severe than others, but what I will say is that we both agree that Messmer is easily the best boss in the game, definitely in the top five best bosses From has ever made imo
I immediately recognized glistening games PK footage lol. Only a handful of people have done PK under those restrictions. That dude is a G. I'll drop a like just for that. Don't really agree with a lot of takes here though, I mean Malenia in C and PCR in S...🤨 That's a head scratcher lol. Anyway, solid video.
Disagree with some of your takes, but I'd much rather that than the same, homogenous takes I always see. Fire Giant is so underated though its crazy. Love that boss.
That was one of the ideas of the video so I Appreciate that! Ive always hated when some creators copy others opinions or on the other end rage bait. What's the fun in that?
Thank you so much!!! And with Romina I think I was a little harsh because I judged that boss differently. It's still really fun just doesn't really fit where you find it. I always 1st try it and that's disappointing lol
Really? Do you REALLY go and explore the whole world in every single playthrough? Yeah for the first playthrough where you might be at rune level 80 of even maybe 100, morgott does have a real little amount of hp, but for subsequent playthroughs where you might be at rl 50 and weapon lvl 4 or +12, he is totally balanced, he deserves an s tier
im sorry but rykard is too high, his fight is all looks, the swings on second phase are weak and easy to dodge, the skulls besides looking menacing you just run and easy to dodge, the first phase is also super free and feels like he has 2 attacks only, its a decent b tier boss at most
Yeah but the looks and music all count towards it. And being difficult or not doesn't matter for me. It's definitely not the most complex fight though I'll give you that one for sure e
This is such a weak reason to click off. Clearly, other things bothered you. That’s like speaking with someone in person and they mispronounce some esoteric word and then you just…walk away. Weak.
