Linda Moses hello friend, I absolutely agree with you. Our own children have grown up with DVDs of the Waltons and little House on the Prairie and Andy Griffith show. Our youngest children don’t even know what’s on popular modern television because we so enjoy the old shows. 😃😉Thanks for watching our video today.👍🏽♥️katie
Ana Renteria our daughter, little Miss homemaker, is watching the when calls the heart series right now. I haven’t taken time to sit down and watch it but I’m told that I should.😊♥️
That was so very nice of Richard Thomas , I fully agree with your statement about him . He is a genuine, humble person and no one will ever take John boy from him . We were Bless to have all those actors to come together at the right time . I wish America was like that again. Family ,Morals ,and God .
I loved watching the Waltons and still watch the show 5 days a week, every week. I am almost 68 years old and enjoy the Waltons as much as I did when I was a little girl.
What a great video! I had the pleasure of being seated next to Richard Thomas on a flight from Peoria, Illinois to Denver, Colorado, back in the late-80s - he had been in P-town doing a talk at Bradley University. He was very kind and we had a very nice flight, chatting to pass the time.
Being a native Virginian the Waltons are one of my all time favorite programs, I just purchased the entire DVD set and watch everyday, The Waltons along with Little House On The Prairie, TV will never be this great again.
@@HeritageWaysKatie Its my pleasure, Welcome to Virginia and I hope you enjoy it here, It's a beautiful state especially the Blue Ridge Mountains and along the 81 corridor, Skyline drive etc. You have a great channel to which ive liked and subscribed. Thank you. 👍

What a sweet story. Thank you for sharing your special day! One day in 1983 in Los Angeles, my mother and I had a date to go shopping but I had to back out before our trip. Wouldn’t you know that my mother met Richard Thomas in the elevator of a department store? Mom said he was a doll and couldn’t have been nicer. Needless to say that was the last shopping trip I missed! 😂
janfromseattle oh wow! What a story! LOL I don’t blame you for never missing another shopping trip again. 😃Did you ever run into anyone famous after that?
I love the Waltons and the memory when God was the center of their lives, the morals and good character it displayed. If there is another film or series by Hammer I would love to see them.
I used to watch this every morning at the fire station while working. I went up to Waltons Mountain once but didn't know the house was open for tours. Thanks for showing this!
Glad you enjoyed it! To my knowledge the Hamner House has only been open in very recent years. We were there in about 2017 when it was for sale and then, I believe, it was opened for public in 2018. Thanks for watching!
Very touching! So wonderful to see Richard Thomas participating in this. He has every right to be proud of being part of an American Institution because that's what the Waltons is!
Looks so nice. A Peaceful Relaxing Nice Professional Video. Awesome.. I love the Waltons show. Watch it almost Daily. No Jonboy is such a Great Actor. I'm so glad you got to meet him. I hope to go there too one day. ( my aunt lived in Murfressboro, I was born in Lebanon, tn, Yrs ago).

I live in Virginia. In the southern part near Lake Gaston & Buggs Island Lake. About 6 or 7 years ago I was coming home from Charlottesville when I took a wrong turn and soon realized I was lost. When I saw State Rt6 I knew it would take me to State Rt15 and from there I could get home. Anyway quite by accident I drove through Schuyler, VA not knowing at the time that it was Earl Hamner's home town. Imagine my surprise when I passed a sign that pointed the way to Walton's Mountain. Unfortunately it was late and I didn't have time to stop. But I still hope to visit one day. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy watching The Walton's reruns.
I did not watch many cartoons when I was little. My sister and I preferred to watch the old black and white classics and then of course The Waltons came on and that was Always a must watch. So Very Grateful!!❤
So exciting!! We are big Waltons fans here at our house! Thanks for sharing your trip. I would love to go there, but chances are slim. Finances just don't allow us to travel very far from home. LOVE THAT KITCHEN! I would be happy with a kitchen like that!
It's been a while since my wife and I have been to Walton's Mt. When make our Mayberry trip coming from the Adirondacks we always stop in Skyler on our way to Mt. Airy not far out of our way, beautiful scenery and far better then getting pushed down the super slab 80 MPH the museum was all volunteer help in putting it together.
Thank you for sharing! I'm a California native, but have been all through that area of Virginia. I've never met Richard Thomas, nor been on that tour, but you got some great footage and what a gorgeous day it was too! I grew up watching re-runs of The Waltons. Great show! They just don't make them like they used to. God bless you! 🙏🏻
Hello and thanks for joining us on Waltons Mountain. Indeed, that area of the country is very beautiful and you are correct in saying that they don’t make shows like they used to. I hope you’ll tune in to this channel because I’m working on more Waltons videos to be released very soon. We’ve enjoyed visiting that area again this month and met more actors. 😊
I Love the Walton’s & even though I’ve seen every episode more than I could tell you. It never gets old. I watch them every night and throughout the day when I get a chance. So glad there’s reruns of this fantastic show. Absolutely Love it! Thanks so much for sharing, wish I could go there and visit this beautiful place. ♥️😊

Mary Ellen the compassionate one,and JimBob , the one I would trust with anything mechanical!!! What a family!! They could be my neighbor anytime!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Used to see him shopping in the neighborhood store in Hollywood in '94. He was as relevant in the early 70's as John Denver,Karen Carpenter, and all the other pop culture references of the day.Waltons was The best family value show then.So Great (had a big crush on Elizabeth) Richard made that show till 76. Wish I said hello when I saw him.
What a fun memory to have of seeing him in the grocery! I would have been shy and don't know if I would have spoken. Those folks usually like to travel/shop incognito, don't they? We are in the Nashville area. Once, late at night around 11pm, I saw Wynona Judd at the grocery store wearing a thick fur coat and sunglasses. I think she misunderstood incognito. LOL Thanks for sharing this memory and watching our video. We do have three more Waltons video on our channel. Hope you enjoy. 😃katie

Lovely video. Thank you for sharing. We need more shows like Waltons. I enjoyed every episode and watched many times. We visited Schuyler before they turned the school into museum. Maybe it’s time for another visit.
I love you John boy I love the Waltons I love that time. God how I wish it was like that today. Thank you for the beautiful memories I will never tire of the show the Waltons! God bless you and your family all the long prosperous days of your lives!
How kind of you and amen to what you said! Indeed! Life seemed so much slower and simpler then, didn't it? I know they worked hard but surely life was not as chaotic as we have made it nowadays. Thanks for watching. ❤️katie
That is very interesting! Sometime in the 70s, I think around 78 (?) my parents took us kids to that area. That is before it was a tourist place and when Mrs. Hamner still lived there but we didn't know which house, etc. I recall going to a post office (Rockfish??) and my mama asking the postmaster about the Hamners. In walked a lady and the postmaster said, "There is the kids' teacher now." Wonder if she was your great aunt?? 😃
She was one of their teachers, Earl Hamner's included. My aunt is actually in a number of the school house photos that are in the museum. A number of the old timers have mentioned that she was their teacher. I pass through every couple of years and occasionally stop at my grandfather's childhood house (which has passed out of our family's hands) where we still have a family cemetery and perpetual permission to visit it. The house is down along the Rockfish River. As kids we used to hunt all along there with my dad and grandfather since my Aunt Dorothy still owned the place and half the neighbors were related in some way to us. My aunt passed about 20 years ago in Charlottesville.
@@loubausone4093 very interesting! Just curious, is your family cemetery next to an old red barn and across the road from the river? If so, we have been there.
@@HeritageWaysKatie It isn't easily identifiable and especially not near the road. Back up in the woods and the headstones are little more than the size of a brick, but they are headstones. As you come out of Schuyler along rt 617, the river is on the right and my grandfather's house is on the left (I think 5698 Rockfish River Road on Google Maps). Ivy Creek runs along the property.
Gary KlunkervilleTown thank you so much for watching and commenting. This was actually one of our first videos and we’re so pleased that it resonates with so many folks in a positive way.👍🏽♥️katie
I loved the Walton's! Your trip looks amazing. Johnboy was my favorite Character but at 11 years old when watching the show, I would never tell anyone that. At 52 now I can say so lol. You know I wanted to see Richard Thomas in more movies. I thought even as a kid what a great Luke Skywalker he would have been. He indeed should be very proud of the Walton's if it is to become his life's shining moment. What a great Moment.
I'm telling you, meeting him was a real pleasure because he seems like the real deal. He was so genuine, kind and generous with his time and attention. I am very happy you found our video and we can share a common interest in such a great TV series. 👍🏽
Same with me/us! We are so grateful for such wholesome entertainment still on reruns and DVDs. Thanks for watching our video. We hope you enjoy our three other Waltons videos. 😃katie
The Good Ole Days and the Waltons is a pleasure to watch and to meet Mr Mrr's Richard Thomas and there benevolence and really do keep do the power of the Waltons and the actors one and alive and I still watch it today 2019 and will continue until I am called.....
Back when tv was still good compared to the junk they have on now...they taught values even with controversy, there were still morals and a lesson to be learned. I believe our country might be a lot different today if parents taught respect and morals today, as they used to .... I was a kid in the 60s and it was taught at home in school and even by my grandparents. ... had I talk to my parents the way some of these kids do today..oh my ..my bottom would be soar for sure. Instead plop them down in front of a video game and then wonder why they are the way they are. ( ok I'll get off my rant .. sorry folks ) Thanks for sharing what looked like a great 1 in a life time trip.
You know what?? I completely agree with you! We have raised our six children as you and I were raised. My husband says, "you get what you expect and we expect respect." When my husband and I were at Appomattox Courthouse doing a re-enactment of the surrender, my daughter and I took the time to visit there. What a nice little video to stumble upon. I’ve never been to this place, but I was a childhood friend of David Harper (Jim Bob Walton) in our hometown of Abilene, Texas. His parents and my father went to high school together and remained friends for many years. David often came “home” to Abilene to visit when he was on haitus from filming, and I went out to California one summer to visit them. I got to spend time on the set and got to hang out with and get autographs from all of the Waltons cast - except Richard Thomas, who refused to meet visitors or give autographs at the time. This was in the early-mid ‘70s, and he has talked about being somewhat “arrogant” back then, which was my experience of him. But everyone grows and changes over time, and it was very nice to see him being so gracious toward his fans in your video. It really warmed my heart. I hope to visit Earl Hamner’s hometown one of these days. One of the episodes I saw being filmed was the one in which the preacher (John Ritter) got married. I adored John Ritter - I was just a kid at the time, and John was just a big kid himself. He introduced me to Paul McCartney’s music (after the Beatles), and I’m still a big fan. Those are special memories. 😊
kellydiver Hello fellow Waltons fan and thank you so much for watching our video. It was fun to take our son, Jonboy to meet Richard Thomas “John boy”. How exciting to hear you reminisce about growing up in Abilene as a childhood friend of David Harper‘s. That must’ve been exciting to know a movie star.😃. I’m also fascinated because our family just returned a month ago from a 10 week stay in Texas. We were finishing up an 18 month stent of traveling around the nation to find ways to serve and encourage folks and meet our social media friends. We actually stayed in Abilene for a week. 💙We truly enjoyed the people of Texas. That’s a very special state and it pulled at our heartstrings to have to leave. I would love to set your mind at ease that Richard Thomas was indeed the complete gentleman and so very gracious with his time and his words. Like you said, people change and I’m so glad that it appears he did. His wife was equally as friendly and kind. This is one of our earlier videos and I was a bit shy about making this particular one. I hope that you will enjoy the others we have about the Waltons, including meeting some of the other cast members. Sadly, we didn’t get to meet David Harper. I was told by the owner of the Hamner home that he can be a little shy. You could probably speak to that better than others can. Again, thank you so much for sharing with me and reminiscing. I truly enjoyed Reading this comment.♥️katie
Heritage Ways It’s a small world! Glad you enjoyed my home state. Yes, David is shy - he never enjoyed being a celebrity. Even when he was a kid, he would grow his hair long when he was on hiatus in hopes that people wouldn’t recognize him. He had a couple of early encounters with fans that frightened him, and he is also shy by nature - but very sweet and kind. I will subscribe to your channel and look at your other videos. All of the Waltons cast members were (and are) truly wonderful people, and their fondness for each other shines through in the show. Take care.
I was in seminary in Lynchburg, VA the day it opened. Most of the actors and the children, now adults they played on the program. Cora Beth and Ike where there as well as one or both? of the Baldwin ladies. It is worth the trip along the Rockfish river.
Thanks for sharing your trip. Boy do I wish I would have known about the Anniversary gathering. I would have gone for sure. I wonder if they will have another big shindig again soon. Looked like a fun day..... and your little guy seemed to enjoy it.
When the Waltons first aired, I was a teenager, too cool to watch the show. Now that I am a senior citizen, I watch nearly every day. Thank God for the Waltons.
What a lovely video. So entertaining, I learned trivia I had not known before! I am binge watching this spring 2019. I am amazed it is still so popular. I am going back to my childhood when I watched it!
I was there years ago woth my husband who died since we had a great time getting lost but we did ok to. We had my picture to with Jason and his tv wife turned out great. Really enjoyed as I'm a BIG fan of the Waltons. I have CDs of all their shows. I raised my kids on Walton re-runs...and it reminded me of when I grew up in the Sierra Nevada mountains...example: My big brother and sister had a tree fort and our cousin was up in it while visiting and the pigs surrounded the tree house and she was afraid to come down...does that remind you of one of the Walton Episodes? lol so similar...and I just loved the Walton family. I read Spencer's Mountain when I was a girl before the Waltons ever came on...so...I've always been a fan. Thanks again for sharing.
Again thanks for posting this and for getting me introduced to Richard Thomas the actor who played John-Boy Walton on the TV show "The Waltons". I remember watching that show when I was a kid and now it's on DVD and yeah.
I visited the museum and home four years ago while on business and doing genealogy research in nearby Elkton for Shiflet ancestors. What an awesome take highly recommended. A chance to slow down and take some time. What a beautiful location to grow up.
Kevin M Yes indeed, this area is so beautiful to visit. We go back to the Blue Ridge time and time again although we’ve never lived there. Our hearts are in the Blue Ridge for some reason and we feel like we may find ourselves living there in the near future. Speaking of genealogy, I have a video called “homesteading heritage“ where I learned that some of my ancestors are actually from the Appalachian areas of Pennsylvania and Maryland. Maybe it’s in my blood after all. Have a great day, friend 👍🏽♥️katie

I love the Waltons and the memory when God was the center of their lives, the morals and good character it displayed. If there is another film or series by Hammer I would love to see them.
Same here
I used to watch this every morning at the fire station while working.
Thank you for this! Have always Loved The Waltons & Richard Thomas!! Great seeing him , he still looks like same cute Johnboy 😄
Oh, it was quite a joy to meet him-just a great, down to earth kinda fellow. 👍🏽♥️

Very touching! So wonderful to see Richard Thomas participating in this. He has every right to be proud of being part of an American Institution because that's what the Waltons is!
Indeed! And, yes, he was so very kind and attentive to each person. I am just totally impressed. Thanks for watching!
Do you know how many showed up? It looks like several. I also heard Eddie on LITB died recently plus with covid you never know

What an awesome video... your son is so great to have a hero like John Boy..... enjoyed this video a lot
Tom Finland hello and thank you so much for watching and commenting. We really enjoyed meeting Mr. Thomas and he, in turn, was quite amused that we call our son Jonboy. We had two occasions to converse with Mr. Thomas that day and after meeting us the first time he remembered our names the second time we met with him.👍🏽♥️katie

Very sweet reflection on your visit and your meeting with Richard Thomas who is an excellent actor and man!
Richard Thomas has aged so well; hardly at all; I would love to meet him someday; and make that trip for sure; I cant believe he still looks so young;
I know..really! Time has definitely been kind to Richard!
I’m sure he is very proud ....🙏
What an amazing trip, not just for you two, but more for your John Boy. I'm now in my late 60`s and I still can't wait to watch The Waltons everyday when it comes on our local channel

Awwww how lovely for John-boy to meet John-boy
It was indeed. Thanks for watching!
I did not watch many cartoons when I was little. My sister and I preferred to watch the old black and white classics and then of course The Waltons came on and that was Always a must watch.
So Very Grateful!!❤
Good TV back then . 😃
As a fan this brought a few tears to my eyes! I’m afraid I would have never wanted to leave! What a blessed day!
Richard looks great. Georgiana is a doll. They make a great couple & team.
I love The Waltons.
Wasn't it such a great show? Do you have the DVD seasons? They are great to own. Thanks so much for watching. 👍🏽❤️Katie
I just strat watching Walton's I'm season one n love the show..love to see John boy...n museum... Love from pakistan

I still watch at noon on MeTV (eastern) I thinlk Elizabeth was the real beauty of the bunch and Jason the most talented!! John-boy was a wiz with the pen, Erin-- the brains, Ben, the business man,. Mary Ellen the compassionate one,and JimBob , the one I would trust with anything mechanical!!! What a family!! They could be my neighbor anytime!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wow....I am absolutely overcome with emotion. This is a dream that I wish to be a part of.
Love That House ,so peaceful but hard work.
😍
😃katie
Wow!! What a fun trip!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
Thank you so much for sharing. I really enjoyed this video. I would love to go there. The Walton"s bring back so many fond memories.
nike girl thank you so much for watching and commenting. Perhaps one day you would be able to go there? You might check into becoming a “friend of the Waltons“. This get you an entrance into the museum as well as a newsletter. 👍🏽♥️katie

❤️katie
My maternal grandfather, Wilson Moore, was from Schuyler. His older sister Dorothy taught at the school. She would have taught the Hamners.
Awesome! We have been in that area many times. Thanks so very much for sharing about your heritage👍🏽👍🏽We appreciate you.
Nice video. Well put together. He's a good actor. Love the show.
Gary KlunkervilleTown thank you so much for watching and commenting. This was actually one of our first videos and we’re so pleased that it resonates with so many folks in a positive way.👍🏽♥️katie
Heritage Ways you're very welcome.
Let's not forget "It's a Miracle"...another great program that Richard hosted.
So nice of you to share you and your family with us! Thank you for posting this video

The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie were the best programs for children to go up with.
Agree!
He looks great.
I know right?? Amazing!!👍🏻
I loved this. Thank you so much for sharing. What a joy it was.
Patrick Gallant aw, thanks so much for watching. We really had an enjoyable day that day. 👍🏽♥️katie
( ok I'll get off my rant .. sorry folks )
Thanks for sharing what looked like a great 1 in a life time trip.
You know what?? I completely agree with you! We have raised our six children as you and I were raised. My husband says, "you get what you expect and we expect respect." Thanks for sharing. This was really nice.
Thanks for watching!!😃
Take care.
I loved that show. What a fun trip.
Glad you enjoyed our visit. Hope you find our other three Waltons-related videos. 💜katie
Martha Corinnes ponycart....that made me cry
I know! I love Beulah Bondi as an actress. ❤️❤️
I was in seminary in Lynchburg, VA the day it opened. Most of the actors and the children, now adults they played on the program. Cora Beth and Ike where there as well as one or both? of the Baldwin ladies. It is worth the trip along the Rockfish river.
Cora Beth, Ike and Baldwin sisters are dead
did the Baldwin sisters A.K.A. recipe ladies give u some of the recipe ? lol
Sad but true
I wish they had. LOL
Wish I could visit the Walton Mountain Museum, and meet Richard Thomas..

The Best of their Movie's or Shows was The Homecoming a Christmas Story The very first that Started the Franchise.
I love that some of the same actors are in that one and the series.
I watch The Homecoming 5 or 6 times during the Christmad season, and I dont care.
The Homecoming was a start to something very special. This beloved show is a true gem.
Agreed!
@@katyluby8735 I hear you, I watch it sometimes during the year also, but a lot during Christmas. If I could only watch one Christmas show this would be it.
Growing up watching the Waltons and all the other wholesome shows helps me realize just how important i really am today to my grandchildren.
They are in a messed up world not realizing, truly, just how much grandmas farm is the place to be. They love coming here....my daughter prefers not to make the 4 mile trip out of town as much as she should 😢.
You can be such a blessing to them. ❤🏠❤
@@HeritageWaysKatie thank you. I appreciate that. I do my best and try hard to teach them that there's sooo much this world has to offer that has nothing to do with the crazy that's on TV and SM.
This show has touched so many lives! Still does such a blessing!
Thank you for uploading this well-produced video. I bought a ticket for this event but couldn't make it because my mother fell ill and was hospitalized (better now, thank goodness). I'm glad I can see what it would have been like had I gone. Maybe one day I will finally make the trip to Schuyler.
I love going to Hammer homestead, there was the cutest small home for sale just up the hill, I almost let's buy it , and get rid of everything else....It was a small 3 bedroom...
I know this family grew up in a depression and war era but I find myself wishing that I could have lived in the same time. People and times were simpler and purer.
I have to completely agree with you! 😉Thanks for watching and I hope can enjoy our other three Waltons videos. 😃💜ua-cam.com/video/3-yt-Aoat-k/v-deo.html
Nice looking at the Walton’s film sets
Just a lovely tour you’ve given us!! Congrats on meeting Richard!! Thank you so much!! (Judy Norton and I are the same age!) ❤️

Kathy Brannon Our oldest son and his wife lived in Florence for a while and I have only driven by Ivy Green. I do hope to visit there one day though.
