Burger King India vs. USA: Which is Best? I Flew to Both!

- How different is Burger King in India from its home in the United States? I went to BK in both countries to find out! Which would you rather eat at?
I tried the Mutton Whopper (goat meat), Veg Whopper, Paneer Royale, fries, and a chocolate shake at Burger King India. In the United States, I had the original Whopper (Beef), Impossible Whopper, Ch'King Sandwich, Spicy Ch'King Sandwich, fries, and a chocolate shake.
Overall Indian Burger King, like most American fast food in India, was around 45% cheaper. But as you saw in the video, I'm really not a fan of Burger King in any country.
The most authentic fast-food restaurant I've found in India so far is Nandos. KFC and McDonald's are both chilli bombs and very different from the original American chains.
Burger King opened its first restaurant in Select Citywalk Mall, Saket, Delhi, in November 2014. The restaurants are equipped with dual production lines, one each for vegetarian and non-vegetarian products, as well as different staff to oversee the production on each line.
A new menu was researched and developed by Burger King that includes items such as the Vegetarian Whopper, the Mutton Whopper, the Chicken Whopper, the Chicken Tandoor Grill, and the King's Paneer Royale.

@@Jess-737 Yeah, I agree. Popeyes chicken sandwich is pretty good, and their shrimp. But my all time favourite is Five Guys.
Anything with bacon on it!
@@KarlRock Eh Five Guys is ok. Try In-n-Out Butger. They are not in the East or south though.
Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is good but BK has a worthy Chicken Sandwich in Ch’King. Jollibees, a Filipino chain expanding in the US, has a pretty good chicken sandwich as well. And Chick-Fil-A. I’d give Popeyes a slight edge over the others and personally my favorite among fast food chains.
But really Karl, America has a lot more to see and explore than BKs and Popeyes and KFC and some random Indian restaurant in Asheville, NC.
Go visit our National Parks and other wonderful places instead of making videos about mundane stuff.
@@sammywhammy007 tried all those and loved ‘em. Don’t worry, I’ve been to national parks and seen the incredible beauty (I didn’t vlog all the best bits). But I enjoy making the fast food comparisons for fun while travelling ☺️
@@KarlRock Comparing fast food restaurants seems so common place and plebeian, Karl😀 UA-cam is full of those videos along with a bunch of white guys recording them getting haircuts and shaves in the developing countries as if it’s an experience to behold and someone should spend 30 minutes of their time watching a gringo getting a shave on the streets of Old Delhi.
Many years ago....when Burger King was brand new, the whoppers were HUGE!.....over time they have gotten smaller and smaller. We also enjoyed what was called Whopper Wednesday.....Whoppers were only $1.00. Those days are truly gone now. Thanks for the video Karl!
It's called Shrinkflation
Man I still enjoy the whopper...every weekend i get a chicken whopper...and man nothing can't be as satisfying as it.
As much as I love burgers, the only thing I'd order from BK and liked was the whopper. Not even if it was the only burger place for miles, would eat there lol. Maybe if the whopper was $1.
One thing I will note is, a lot of the food in America is processed garbage /fake!
I'm the late 90s/early 2000s whoppers and jumbo jacks were 99 cents every day, during the burger wars.
I miss those days.
Whoppers for anything more than 99 cents feel like a ripoff. And now that they're $6.xx or whatever... Absolutely ridiculous.
@@karaokewaala9107 not only that, but a marketing decision, you need to establish yourself between the public with low prices
This fast food joints series of yours is really a fresh take on this trend. Keep on bringing those.
Thanks mate.
As a huge fan of paneer, I wish they made that burger in the US!
I hope BK watch this video. They need another veg option in the U.S. anyway.
@@KarlRock in All the World they put that bland CHEDDAR American cheese , I hate that, is so tasteless, is so creamy, but it is so bland ! put some Paneer on the burgers Please !

@@oriol108 in India the cheese tastes salty and flavourful and adds a nice touch imo

Mad how India can make somewhat good versions of beloved American fast food. You just have to be lucky where you get them from.
I really like how straight forward Karl is. If he doesn't like something he says it directly instead of sugar coating.

As a kid moving around Auckland and Orewa, it was such a treat if Dad let us have BK onion rings. Reckon BK is actually decent in NZ; I travel a lot, and in the last few years they've really pushed to have nicer restaurants. I tried their plant based chicken range in Auckland, and thought it wasn't half bad, and had a vaguely tumeric flavour that was confusing but nice. I hear in South Asia and North Europe they're actually delightful fast food restaurants!
Yeah, the NZ ones are actually ok and quite tasty. NZ has good quality fast food generally
@@KarlRock Yep, hear the nuggets in NZ Maccas are even 100% kiwi chicken breast, which is a lot when you think about it!
Nicely done Karl! Very cool comparison for those who haven't been to India (like myself).
Love the video. Especially the recommendation about having fresh local tasty street food!
the transition was so clean!! love your videos felix.
Love your videos thanks Karl
Really enjoying these food comparison videos genius idea
I quit eating beef, and had it not been for Impossible burgers I don't think I could've done it. I loved beef and still crave it every day. I see Impossible burgers like non alcoholic beer for alcoholics.
Good to hear!
In Australia we still have a few American diner style Hungry Jacks (we dont have burger king here, it's Hungry jacks, but same same thing). But I think 90% of them have already done so or are in the process of updating the insides to look like the US style in this video.
As the the burgers, you should have gotten the whopper with cheese, it changes it a lot I think, from kinda bland to enjoyable.
I'd 100% love to try the paneer burger, looks yummy.
Last thing, I wonder how affordable a Whopper meal is for the locals in india, is it something that they can get on a weekly basis or is it more so once in a while to treat yourself sorta pricing?
Because when you compared the Burger King price to the local burgers, the prices seem so crazy drastic.
Great video as always!
Hungry Jack's in Aus is Burger King.. just a long history as to why a different name
(Involving Aus billionaire Jack Cowin)
Thanks for the comment! In terms of pricing, the meat burgers cost a premium, but they do lots of Rs. 99 rupee deals on the vegetarian stuff. So you can get a burger for $1 or so. It's probably a weekend treat like it is for us I would say too. The middle class in India is growing a lot.
@@KarlRock ah ok that's cool to near.
Thanks for the reply.
Damn the edits are sublime
I sometimes enjoy the Mutton Whopper, but very often they will make it a chilli bomb or even add crisps to make it a southwestern Whopper. But when they make it a true mutton whopper with ketchup, mayonnaise, and gherkins, it is very good.
At McDonalds in the US I never buy a filet o fish, but often order one in India for another option.
These are your best videos
Missed the last bit of the premiere. Great video, need to try the goat whopper now. V tasty
Goat whopper? This is very interesting. I have heard that goat is the most eaten meat in the world.
Yup, goat meat Whopper. It's called the Mutton Whopper (mutton is goat in India, and sheep in the West). Goat tastes a little less flavourful than lamb. Lighter.
That would be chicken
@@KarlRock Isn't that so fascinating from NZ, like you, that we struggle to get ride of goat and (shepp) mutton and borderline beg smaller Pacific nations to buy that meat! I've been vegetarian for a decade and almost exclusively eat south Indian food for a varied diet, but before that I had kina, paua, kidney and liver, but was told never to eat those things. Would be fascinated to see a review on those foods from you mate. Keep at it!
Because goat is goated 🐐
Yes, I have heard the same about goat being the most eaten meat worldwide.. Its sure telling how we all have aquired tastes based on what we grew up eating!
I personally did not grow up eating lamb, sheep, or goat and after trying them both several times as an adult despite wanting to, I honestly cant stand the taste of either. Growing up we had chicken, beef, pork, and fish and thats what I like..
I have a close friend who grew up in a different country and was raised mostly on lamb that hates beef and can tolerate chicken.. Its funny cuz when me and him have talked about our differing tastes, the awful way I describe both lamb and goat tasting to me is exactly the same way he describes beef...
Theres a ton of food I never had as a child that I discovered and enjoy as an adult, but for some reason it seems when it comes to meat, it really is a preferance based solely on what you grew up eating.
More of these types of videos!
11:05 That style reminds me of a restaurant chain here in Ireland. It's called Eddie Rockets and it's also Americanised and has the exact same colour pattern as you described back in New Zealand when you were younger, the checkered black and white patterned floor/whatever ... the seats wether they are red or not. I'm not saying come here but it's something to at least look up and see for yourself. I haven't had food there in many many years but it was good from what I remember ...it was expensive then but now there's a cost of living crisis here and everything is sky rocketing.
You are really a good human, Rock. We love you.Happy New Year.
Love the raw honesty..
I would pick the goat whopper over all of the others. My Caribbean bestie makes goat curry & it’s awesome. So I’d love to see if it tastes good as a burger.
Honestly, I think the whopper looks better in the U.K. and if I get one that burnt I would definitely take it back and ask for a fresh one. My BK go to is a junior whopper. Slightly less messy to eat lol.
I love your comparison vids.
Namaste. 🙏
Thanks Daisy! Goat is kind of tasteless, so it works really well in spicy curries, which give it a lot of flavour. In a burger, it was a bit bland. BUt you should definitely come to India and try it for yourself too.
That paneer burger looked delicious 🤤 USA here
R U American?
Good to see you in Marol, Mumbai
America generally seems to have less vegetarian options. Europe has most burgers available in vegetarian/plant-based.
Thank you Brother.. spot on about Vada Paav
Thanks for the video Karl 👍
Hey Karl! Interesting!
Cant wait to eventually travel to India. Just back from London / France for family event but didnt check their burgers!
Are your Burger Kings (in New Zealand) Hungry Jacks like we have here in Australia?
Hey Andrew. In NZ it's called BK. But I was in Melbourne recently (at the airport) and tried Hungry Jacks, it was good. Fast food in Australia and New Zealand is better quality than the U.S. and India
Karl, love love love your vids. I want to also know your opnion on french fries in India in fast food chains. (P.S. a gentle indication to try Burger Singh fries ( it is spicy af).
Ram ram Karl, I actually like the mutton whopper more than the one in the USA! I come from Chicago USA, and moved to Delhi recently. Perhaps I will run into fellow gora like you one day
😃
Mutton is so nice.
Hi Perogi, time to teach them scammers some lesson here in Delhi
I'd love to taste that mutton burger. I love beef but I also really love mutton. I've only had it grilled or in curry, but I imagine it has to be pretty great as a burger.
Really, I'd love to visit India just for the extremely cheap street food. It's around third on my list after Thailand and Vietnam. Hopefully I get that job I've been gunning for next year so I can afford the trip.
Mutton is sheep meat.
@@carlitox4721 I know. What's your point?
I also wouldn't go to Burger King in the U.S. and after what you tell us here about BK in India, nein, would much rather prefer to buy from some street vendor, as I also prefer hamburgers made in the street stalls here in Mexico as those compared to Burger King Mexico, so if you ever come here Karl Ji, don't go to any of the franchises, and considering you eat street food in India, I'm thinking its totally safe to eat in the street, Moctezuma's revenge being sheer myth. Thanks for sharing, 👍and greetings 👋for Manisha Ji and you from central Mexico.🤠

What a chill video. I have to agree, the US Burger King was looking lackluster in your visit. Something about Burger King whoppers has had me addicted lately. Not sure why. But the Burger King by me is being ran by a boy and a girl. Not kidding. Those are the only two people there everyday. And their service is iffy.
Karl when we’re you in Nashville??? I live here, wish we could meet you!!!❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥Thank you for your videos!
Burger King has very weird combination of spices..specially in India. If you want to have a vegetarian burger in India, Please try them at Carls Jr.. they are delicious!
I just love your honesty. I'd try the paneer burger.
Keep up the good work xxx
Cool bro saw you at my local bakery in New Zealand 😁 love your work, really wanted to come say hi but you were on the ph👍
Hey Karl! So yeah, I totally hear what you are saying about the weirdness of the impossible meat. For me, growing up, I ate a lot of beef and like the flavor. Of all the livestock, cows produce the most methane, a harmful gas that contributes to global warming. Products from Impossible and Beyond Meat fill the void of providing a beef alternative (when I want to have the taste) without contributing to the big beef industry. I think that's probably those companies target market, folks looking for a beef alternative, likely due to environmental reasons.
And ethical reasons
Food at both versions really dire. Good honest reporting, Mr. Rock. Thanks-
I'm glad you enjoyed the honest review (it's all I do). It was a very depressing video to edit for me haha.
You should try (chick fill a) or (in n out burger) just to get your opinion on other American fast food places ! Cheers love the videos!

Have you done any video of the notorious/famous Leopold's cafe? I read about it in the books Shantaram
After a very tiresome after work, this video actually relaxed me
I'm guessing there aren't many options available for Veg burgers in the US because there are very few vegetarian people out there. It's mostly Vegans, hence only a couple of options available.
Do they still have arcades in India? I'd love to see an episode about the arcade scene out there.
In cyber hub there is a famous racing simulator. But arcades have never been popular in India, it was always for a niche audience.
Thank You for making that Video
Nice video 🙂👍
I love burger king in Newfoundland, Canada. I also make many India dishes at home and order all my spices online, just for perspective.
Why does your hand shivers always
Yes, the NZ BK was awesome back in the day!
Is that the BK near Linking Road Bombay? I stopped there once after a hectic day of shopping.
You should try whoppers in the Dominican Republic. The local operator franchisee does a good job. The bread is large and fluffy, ingredients substantial. The burger is tall and heavy.
its sad to hear your bad experience with Burger King here in america...if you would of come here to try back when it was better, probably 10yrs ago more or less...maybe youll like it better, but i cant say by that much more, just depsnds on the person. But it was pretty popular back then, then they fell hard and they didnt care much about there company for a long time, they are slowly trying to bet back up, but yet not by much though. And what I recommend by the looks of it, i would for sure try the indian BK and myself i enjoy vegan food aswell, so im curious especially the paneer burger. Keep up the good work Karl! loving it seeing you get to see America, im enjoying your videos of it very much and makes me happy bro.
For me both Paneer Royale and Veg whopper are good. I guess the outlet you went to prepared the veg whopper terribly.
Yeah, I think I got an old patty. Paneer Royale rocked though, I ate it again hehe
I would rather eat at MCDS. Burger King was the place to go get a burger in the early 2000s, since then the quality has dropped. My local Burger King in So. Cal is usually empty.
I had a goat sandwich in Dearborn MI back in the '80s, my co-workers asked me how I liked it, "It wasn't Baaad."
I wish I could travel like you can
Nice and honest . Fair play
Try Hungry Jacks as burger king is known in Australia - the burgers are char grilled and tasty- local Indian's eat there too
There was a big fuss here in the USA because they were using the same flame broilnmachine as they use the beef patties to cook the vegi patties so it really "wasnt" pure vegetarian.
I’m in the Northern Poconos and haven’t been to a Fast Food place in probably 40yrs. Then again, I have always preferred my multicultural, multinational home made food. After traveling the world when I was younger with my kids; I’ll take my biryani, Kichari, Channa Masala, Chamorro BBQ (S. Pacific), my “sisters” many Vietnamese dishes, Potato-Leek soup from outside Quito; Caribbean blackened fish, Soul food from our hometown, Irish corned beef and cabbage, and mostly, my late Son’s MANY favorites from China…which I make almost daily bc his friends are always sending me pictures and recipes. The night before he died, we talked for hours while he cooked a huge international feast-mostly Nepali, Chinese and South Pacific foods for friends in our hometown down South (N Florida). All 3 of my kids and my stepdaughter love to cook and rarely go to Fast Food places…except my younger daughter who ALWAYS goes to Whataburger, the only one left, in our hometown when she visits.
As for beggars…AND the prices. With inflation this bad I’m sure restaurants have also had to raise their prices. I’ve been to Jacks in Nashville in about 2000. There was NOTHING over $10 on their menu. My freeze dried strawberries, as an example, cost me $6.99 4-5 months ago. Yesterday? $14.99. And people in the streets? Rents have skyrocketed and so is poverty and our homeless population. I’m older, legally blind and in a wheelchair or walker. I’m being evicted bc I can’t afford my rent DOUBLING …it’s actually more than doubled over the past year. We aren’t finding ANYPLACE near either of my girls that I can afford on Social Security. Luckily, being old and disabled gives me a longer period of time before they can kick me out in the street.
I very rarely eat fast food (aside from Chipotle), but even when I did, I always thought Burger King was one of the worst ones 😂 This was interesting though to see the differences between India and US. Thanks Karl!
I'm curious about burger King employees salary and benefits difference here and there.. thanks...wish you elaborate that part too
Sadly, Burger King here in the U.S. is not very good. Locations continue to close. The one nearest to where I live closed many years ago and became a McDonald's, and one that I pass on my way to work became a Wendy's. The Burger King nearest to my office became a Starbuck's Drive-Thru. As you said in the video, there are so many places to eat that are better than BK.
One thing about the states and Canada some fast food joints are ran better than others. It’s hit and miss if it’s going to be good or not.
