Satvik (सात्विक) food refers to a category of food in the Indian tradition that is considered pure, clean, and beneficial for the body and mind. Satvik food is believed to promote health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.
In general, Satvik food is vegetarian, excluding meat, fish, eggs, onions, garlic, and other foods considered to be Rajasic or Tamasic (stimulating or dulling) in nature.
The diet emphasises fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and dairy products. It also places great importance on the method of preparation and cooking, focusing on using gentle cooking techniques and natural ingredients to preserve the nutritional value of the food.
The idea behind Satvik food is to eat food that is simple, light, and easy to digest and that does not overstimulate or overload the body or mind.
This diet is commonly followed by those practising yoga, meditation, and other spiritual practices, as it is believed to enhance the benefits of these practices by promoting a calm and balanced state of mind.
What is tamasic food?
Tamasic food is a category of food in the Indian tradition that is considered heavy, dull, and detrimental to the body and mind. Tamasic foods are believed to promote lethargy, sluggishness, and negative emotions.
In general, Tamasic foods are excessively oily, spicy, salty, or fried. Examples of Tamasic foods include meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic, fermented foods, stale or overripe food, and processed or packaged foods.
These foods are believed to harm physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.
The idea behind Tamasic food is that it is not conducive to a healthy and balanced life, as it can weigh down the body and mind and lead to disease and negative emotions. In contrast, Satvik food, which is considered pure and beneficial, is believed to promote health, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being. The middle category of food is called Rajasic food, which is stimulating in nature and includes foods like coffee, tea, and spicy foods.

Hello Karl why your wife is becoming so thin . Nowadays she is looking unhealthy too. Anything wrong????
That Is called Dal puri. Quite common in Bihar❤❤
Bro i love your personality and behavior🎉
Im uk born sikh, but been to india (Jalandhar) over 20 times, yet i still learn things off this channel about beautiful india and its people. Thanks karl keep it up my man god bless. 🙏
Bhai apne baki uk ke khalistanis ko samjahao yar ye hamesha badmashi krte hai embassy ke samne

This is karl rock comments, not politics channel.
@@jamsingh ok bro
@@joymon8232 why are you telling him? How is it related?
Tell off those Khalistanis mate
Actually, Tamasic food is one which is rotten, leftovers, unhealthy. Rajasic food is one which raises your passion such as spicy and non veg food. It raises your energy but is not necessarily healthy. Sattvik food is pure, natural and clean which is healthy and raises energy also.
Any food, eaten in more than desirable quantities will make you sleepy and lazy.
But nowadays non veg are so trash not natural so naturally open ground wild old time animals choose food. Nowadays just vitamins & minerals raw
Load of lies. SATVIK has nothing to do with fresh healthy food.
.
And meat is said to be tamasik. Even garlic is tamasik. It goes on and on.
.
Please don't skip your healthy meal.
@@hasala12345You first. Imagine being a d*ck because someone shared knowledge.
Nice información
Sounds like a bunch off booshit
Every country needs their own Karl Rock
really true comment.
He's here for everyone
He is half Indian now 😅, through marrying Manisha ji 🎉🎉
But karl Rock is yet not talking about scams in his country and surprisingly his wife too.
You mean needs their own pewdiepie?
Indian village - 😎 Urban - 😅
Perfectly explained the satvik food. Aunty was so happy to have you at her restaurant ☺️
Cringe
Locals don't normally eat Puran poli with everything. Normally with ghee on it or with milk or something called katachi amtee. Which is Maharashtrian dal like parent of sambhar and rasam
Ohhh! If Karl ever tastes katachi aamtee, it would be his all time fav soup! :-)
Appreciate that you are actually showing what people in Maharashtra eat at their homes. An even more satvik version of the chhapati is the bhakri. It is made from Jowar/Bajri/Ragi (millets) it does not contain any fat like oil and is eaten all across Maharashtra.
Bajri cha bhakri tastes amazing with mutton rassa. Love Maharashtrian food.
@@arjun230190 mutton isn't sattvic though
it's such a heartwarming feeling to see you guys being yourself in-front of the camera. I too wasn't aware about satvik food. Thanks for enlightening me😁
I had no idea about it too, so glad I got to experience it. We went back many times after this ☺️
Their kitchen is cleaner than mine. I wish we had this where I live, all the Indian places have the typical blend of popular dishes.
Yeah, it's difficult to find home cooking like this. But it might be possible where you are. In New Zealand, they're usually smaller stores without much fuss, and usually more word of mouth places.
I think this video is 6 - 7 months old. Visited this place back in the days. Hygenic marathi homefood. 🤤
We're all used to asosiating India with scammers, but your channel shows us all the real Indian people ❤ respectful kind and gentle people 😍
The real indian people? So the scammers r all fake people? Are they robots or something?
Where are you from
I like the way you pramote lesser known people...
It's great seeing these two in videos together it's like high school sweetheart always smiling laughing it's great to see Manesha so dang smiley😊😊😊
In Taiwan, there are Buddhist Sattvic restaurants everywhere. They'll typically have the ancient swastika symbol which is a sign the food is acceptable for Buddhist monks, nuns, and practitioners.
The swastika tends to throw foreigners until they know what it means. The food is delicious.
Love this video. Can't wait to try Sattvic food in India ❤ 🙏
Me listening my name through the whole video, like someone is calling me😅😅😂😂
That was too good, want to see more saatvik cuisine.... Great work, keep it up 👍
TY Karl and Manu for this great tour of eating healthy food in India! I appreciate both of you
I absolutely love eating fresh organic unprocessed foods. You can actually tell the difference, like night and day! You feel refreshed, and not comatosed. It's hard to get that from eating out now a days.
What a wonderful place to eat. Their passion, pride, & integrity for what they do was so apparant. I wish them much success!
Thanks for making video on this. I will definitely visit the restaurant. 👍
Great work Karl, always nice to see you and your wife together on these adventure videos. :)
Nice to see u guys enjoying Maharashtrian food...you are right Karl, Puran poli is more like a desert/sweet dish, it's not eaten with any sabji, chutney, sauce or pickle like chapati..but it's part of main meal and Puran polis are usually made during festivals, they are eaten with gulavani (a syrupy sweet dish made by boiling water with 'gul '(jaggery in marathi) and cardamom, can add milk in it as per one's taste..) and 'Katachi amiti' a spicy gravy made of chana dal and some spices, which taste different than the other dal dishes..katachi amti is also eaten with rice..u can also eat puran poli with just hot milk and ghee...all these different combinations taste yummy..any extra puran polis left are eaten with tea the next morning and they taste amazing... just roll it,dip in tea n eat it...since u are in Maharashtra try village/rural food which is hot, spicy and it tastes awesome...like all other places there is diversity in maharashtrian food too.....
Karl MUST try katachi aamtee
Food looks good Karl . Would love to try that.
I wish someone would make a feast like that for me. It looks so good. Carl your making me so hungry for those Indian spices and breads. Yummy
You are more than welcome..
Healthiest chef! Haha can't wait this video

Love your videos Karl. Stay well ❤️
Great video Karl 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
where is this in navi mumbai? i lived in kharghar which is by the panvel line from CST for most of my life until last year when i moved to mumbai. seeing the chill area really reminds me of the lazy afternoons we used to have there before the boom and bustle of a more developed town came. the 5 floor flats, small shops by the roads, mild sunlight of the afternoon, quiet neighbourhood and the somewhat humid but cool air really made it such a cool place to live.
the locals there are quite tame, living peacefully with each other and all.
i miss living there.
Heck yeah bro 👍 cheers from Toronto Canada
This is near to my current workplace. They provide good food quality. ❤
I'll be spending a couple of months in Pushkar later this year, so will keep an eye out for any restaurants.

This is the best place where you get homely food ...Now it is located near station ... I have been eating here since 3 years...the taste here is superb and homely with all good ingredients...Do try food here..the owners themselves prepare food and keep the place clean and hygienic...
That's definitely the kind of place I'd like to eat at
I live in Airoli - right down they way. Ill have to go visit this hotel this weekend
After long time I see your video u have good journey 😊
This is best food to eat . It is healthy at the same time tasty...
When you remove diary and oil, it becomes even more clean in satvik.. But it is tough to go that clean.
Karl You should definitely try food at Aharveda in Andheri Mumbai they have really unique kind of menu and its a musttt try!
Agree.. they specialise in organic vegan food..completely delish.. must try
I love this. Karl, my man, I dig how you’re spreading the love and showing us westerners that there are good people everywhere.
Good ones are not in your country though .
There are good people AND bad people everywhere. I enjoy when folks like Karl spread the light on the good people.
You deserve more subs
What sweet people! I want to go live there.
i can assure you that you will have a good time at navi mumbai. just stay away from places where bihari, marwadi or any other migrant population are found. the locals of raigad district are incredibly chill unlike elsewhere in india.
India is so incredible
I really miss my maharashtrian food...
Currently residing in Bangalore. Here, food is horrendous and expensive on top of that.
Never ever gonna live here again..
kill me if my words are too bitter but i dont care i am going to say it:
MAHARASHTRIAN CUISINE IS THE BEST IN WHOLE INDIA
ill accept my punishment for being bitter. but truth is always bitter.

auntie ji is so pure omg T_T
Nice video!! Full support and new friend here
Plzz try to make daily vlog ❤ love u all❤
hmm, would be interesting to watch. Our Indian diet is mostly loaded with grains i.e. carbohydrates resulting in high blood sugar.
Nope
Carbohydrates on its own gives you a blood sugar spike. But if you eat it with lentils, vegetables and salads- then the resultant blood sugar spike is less. Also it depends on how much you eat. If you don't do physical activity in proportion to the food that you eat then of course you would become diabetic.
Waiting to see Karl eating BHAKRI and TECHA ! 🤤 Full on Rajsika
Wow! 😋
Bro reacted to the police siren at 6:42 jiminy quick 😂😂
