My first thought when I saw 300mm challenge was flowers! I used to go for a 100mm macro lens for flowers but lately I'm using longer lenses more to better isolate them and get smoother backgrounds. I came across your channel on the weekend and find your videos very inspiring as I look to rediscover some of my own passion that was set aside the last couple of years. You seem to have a genuine passion for the art of photography, trying new things and exploring new ways of seeing things. I have been a hobby nature photographer for 20 years and have found that rather rare.
Thank you so much for your comment and sharing your experience! Macro photography is one of those realms and lenses that I want to dabble in sometime in nearer future. I find that there is something very intimate and captivating with macro photography. Someday.... someday. Thank you again for the support! Have a fantastic day! 📸😀
Thank you Acacia, great video. I love surfing photography, it is just so much fun. The 300mm would have been a great lens for photographing surfers. 🎉🎉🎉
That's awesome! I was definitely impressed with the lens and enjoyed the extra reach for bird photography. Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a fantastic day! 📸😀
Another subscriber here. Your photos are absolutely amazing. I love the way you name your photos too. You certainly know your settings. I will be watching more. Cheers, Ann from Australia. 😊
Thank you for subscribing! The settings used for a photo was something I always liked knowing, as I think it helped me when I started shooting in manual mode and to help me as a photographer, so I am glad to hear you appreciate the inclusion of the information! Thank you again for your support and taking the time to comment! Have a fantastic day! 📸😀
The Nikon 300PF is an incredible lens. Lightweight and amazing clarity. I wish you had labeled your video with the PF information and provided some background on this valuable lens.
Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it. Since this was my first time using the lens, I didn't personally have a lot of background knowledge when I recorded the video. I also don't script my videos because it feels way too unnatural for me, so there are times where I intend to share some information that sadly doesn't make it into a video. Again, thank you so much for your feedback. Have a fantastic day! 📸🙂
What a wonderful idea. A "one-lens" challenge. I have several medium format prime lenses that simply don't get used enough. That will now change thanks to your inspiration in this video!! My film camera shoots 12 square shots per 120 roll, so each of my "neglected" lenses is about to be used for at least one full roll of 120 film. They're in for a treat, thanks to you!! PS - I think I'm also in for a treat!
I love to hear this video inspired you! 😀That's awesome you still have your film cameras. I have 3 much older film cameras that were gifted to me by my Dad and I keep thinking I need to buy a roll of film or two and go old school for a day. It's been well over a decade since I have photographed using 35mm film and your comment is kind of inspiring me to pull the trigger! I hope you have fun with your prime lens challenge! Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic day! 😀📸
I have a fixed 400mm with a 2x extension. I often, as I'm walking, I take picture of things I see next to me. With this 800mm setup, I have to react differently: "That looks interesting. Let me back up 12 feet and see."
😂 Its a totally different perspective when you have the longer lenses and the 800mm setup sounds like a whole other ball game! Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a fantastic day! 😀📸
Welcome to the world of back ache! Joking aside, wonderful upload. Your channel came up as a suggestion, I'm glad I clicked. New subscriber now. I have a Sigma 60-600mm on a D5, it's so heavy, but the range gives me so much scope. I have used it on my Z7 too, but using the ftz adapter it increases the physical length even more. At 600mm it's ridiculous.
😂 Your comment gave me a good little chuckle. I'm constantly thinking about the weight of lenses and the weight of my bags. My wrist hurts thinking about the 60-600 on a D5 considering they get sore with a full day of using the Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8. Thank so much for your comment and the support! I greatly appreciate it! Have a fantastic day! 😀📸
Another awesome video Acacia!!!! Loved the Watercolor shot and then surprise you’re at the beach!! You killed the beach shots, so dang good👏🏻👍🏻. I see you investing in a 300 very soon😀
Thank you Barry! The beach was an unexpected addition to the adventure and sorta last minute when my folks came out, but man was it fun to take photos of some different things! 😂
Neat you made this video i just bought a Canon EF 300mm F4 L IS lens and as always when you buy something you look on youtube to see people using it and well not so many newer videos of that lens being used but nikon is close enough haha pictures look great love your channel and your videos.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching my video! I appreciate the support! I have the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens I have used for bird photography, but man the extra 100mm makes a difference in the field. I was very impressed with the 300mm. 😀 Have a fantastic day and thank you again for the support! 📸
Next time grab a film camera and a 300mm lens. When we're stuck with that one speed... everything becomes a challenge. Fun and games! Good fun and good pictures. I have a 300mm for my Pentax K-1000. Maybe a roll of 400 asa to run through it will be a good way to spend an afternoon. Middle Tennessee has a few nice parks just waiting for me.
😂 Oh yes! That would be a challenge! It's been well over a decade since I have used a film camera, so the challenge would be real! But also fun! If you get out there, have fun!!😀📸
That's a hell of a focal length for a challenge and I loved the video I'm going to check out your 50mm challenge I'm planning to do the same I've subbed and looking forward to future videos take it easy 😊
😂 Yes it was a hell of a lens for challenge and it was absolutely a challenge, but a lot of fun! Thanks for watching and subscribing! Have a fantastic day!😀📸
Awesome! I have thought about the 2.0 teleconverter for my 70-200, but also have my eyes on the 180-600mm. 🤷🏼♀️ At some point I will rent the 180-600mm and give it a test run. Thanks for sharing and have fantastic day! 😀📸
Tricky challenge with a 300mm prime. I have a 100-300 I shoot occasionally on a crop sensor Nikon (so 450mm equiv), and another problem is camera shake. Even turning up with an 85mm prime at a gig can be a problem if I am at the front. 👍📸
I admire your photography passion, and the great, honest content you are making. Thank you. Just for curiousity, which 300/4 lens did you use? My Nikon 300/4 has a very different rendering, especially in terms of the out of focus area.
Thank you for watching and the comment! I really appreciate it! The lens I used was the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR. Have a fantastic day! 😀📸
I can understand how it takes some getting used to. My longest zoom is a 70-200, but I'm waiting on a 100-500mm to get here and I'm sure I'll have some "getting used to" to deal with. Beautiful daff images Ms. Adacia! 🌼🌼
Thank you! I really love the daffodils photos. I spent like two hours taking photos of the flowers. 😂 But 100% work it! I have my eyes on the 180-600mm lens... mainly for golf photography and birds. But it's not an immediate need at this time. 😀📸
@@TC_Conner It's one of the reasons I love golf photography! Always beautiful landscapes! And I like golf...so it's an added bonus. There's nothing wrong with a bit of want in photography. hehe 😅

I have the 300PF. I pairs nicely with the 1.4 teleconverter. I find I use this combo for birds and wildlife more than my 200-500mm.
Awesome! I have thought about the 2.0 teleconverter for my 70-200, but also have my eyes on the 180-600mm. 🤷🏼♀️ At some point I will rent the 180-600mm and give it a test run. Thanks for sharing and have fantastic day! 😀📸
I use Telephoto lens for the Birding but Prime lens has more advantages also but its cost as well.
I generally use a telephoto lens as well. I like the versatility! 😀📸
I have a 300mm f/6.3 Takumar lens that I rarely use.
Thank you! Your video has inspired me to use it more often.

Great photos. But with such a lens you definitely need a tripod or you can do without it, shooting with a short shutter speed.
I was definitely watching my shutter speed with this lens! Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a fantastic day! 😀📸
