"I want to tell you that I'm really jealous of you. I think it was the right decision to sell your Supra and welcome the GR Corolla as a new family member. I'm Korean, and I feel a lot of regret about Toyota Korea's hesitations regarding sales in Korea. Congratulations! I hope you take good care of it. I found comfort in your videos."
Congrats on the new GRC. I've had mine for 2 years and I love it. Funny seeing you mention things that I went through and fixed too. I love having an armrest and it's fantastic on road trips. You are right, the phone changer sucks. I removed mine and replaced it with the cubby tray. Tint and PPF were 2 of my first mods. Change your oil at breaking-in between 600-1k miles. The oil analysis that are done have proven that the engine isn't broken in from the factory. I have posted a bunch of maintenance and mods videos on my YT channel if you want to check them out. I'm looking forward to watching your journey.
Dude.. can’t wait to see this thing come to life! Congrats man. Also, way to keep these videos coming our way and making sure they stay interesting and unique!
Talon we get it! I grew up with Euro cars mostly hot hatches. My family ran an automotive repair shop specializing in European cars and we also did some motorsports work. I found that my Mazdaspeed3 which was converted to all-wheel-drive and my Ford Focus RS were two of the most practical vehicles I’ve ever owned in my life. The Mazda was absolutely flawless with zero issues. The Ford build quality was not great and in the end, check engine lights cost me to trade it in on a bronco sport. But it was still a very practical vehicle, and if I found one of the good price that has all the bugs worked out, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another all-wheel-drive hot hatch with a turbo.
As a 23 owner I’m really jealous of the matte black wheels! You’re going to love it, I know a lot of guys also with one who have some pretty insane cars (GTRs, McLarens, GT3s) and they all adore the GR as the ultimate daily. Huge congrats, welcome to the fam 🤝
Having owned a GR Corolla for 18 months, I sold it for a Supra, but 100% if you need something different, that suits different needs that you can't get from a Supra, I don't blame you. It is definitely a performance downgrade, but 4 doors and AWD in a winter-heavy state makes a ton of sense for a daily and is a practicality upgrade. Have fun with it! I have a Civic Type R to suit my daily needs, and have the Supra as my fun car. Virginia gets very little snow overall, so FWD does just fine for me.
Congrats! Love this car, can’t wait to see what you do with it. As soon as I saw the weather and those tires I was worried about your drive home. Have Blizzaks on my VW GTI and they are amazing in the snow w/ just front drive here in NE Ohio. I wouldn’t change the color w a wrap but that’s me, like the OE color.
I bought a 2025 GRC Premium MT in December. I've done a lot of spirited driving on local canyon-roads and absolutely adore this car. I had a Focus RS previously, and feel that the GRC is the car I had hoped the Focus RS would be. I have no plans to modify it.
I got mine and I love it. I work for a Toyota dealer and for this GR Corolla the only advise when new for the first 621 miles, do not drive at extremely high speeds, avoid sudden acceleration, do not drive continuously in low gears and like you said do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods of time.
Hey Talon, I rode with you in Pennsylvania when I use to have my Grom. Would you by any chance be bringing that GR Corolla to Pennsylvania at all? I would LOVE a chance to challenge it with my 2022 WRX some time.
@@TalonSei all good man. I watched the video where you got another Grom also. I traded mine in for a 250L Dual Sport a few years ago but have been missing the Grom surprisingly.
The Supra is sick, but I feel you on practicality. Having 4 doors and AWD is nice to have. Did you ever consider the Golf R? I think the GR Corolla has a little better aesthetics, but the downside is the engine is pretty maxed out from the factory so there is not much to gain performance wise. The Golf R can make crazy gains with very little effort. Ultimately it's all personal preference. Looking forward to see what you do with the car👍
VW was the first brand I was ever into as a kid, a 92 vr6 corrado was my first car. That being said tho the newer golfs and GTIs don’t do anything for me. They haven’t really changed as far as styling goes since the very beginning. Some people like that which I can respect but the GRC is definitely more my speed.
@@shiftautomotive854Stop the cap. This car is sick as fuck but it's not putting out 500hp + with simple mods. It's a damn 1.6 liter 3 cylinder lol. Even on the 2022 + WRX it's not that easy to make 500hp+ and the VB is known to put out serious power with minimal mods.
@ never said easy mods got to upgrade the engine like cams, valve springs etc there’s plenty of em making that power reliably in the gr yaris with those upgrades
So I usually put a couple hundred miles on new vehicles before going full tilt in them. My 06 RSX Type S lasted 165k miles before being totaled by a deer and I ran the piss out of it. My 16 focus st now has 162k miles on it and did it the same way with 0 issues.
BRO….you broke in your new GRC with a road trip…..🤯 BTW, what’s up with Colorado and not getting GRC’S? I ask because 3 dealerships I have talked to have ALL shipped Auto GRC’s to Colorado….that is odd and then to hear you had to travel to get yours has me wondering🤔
For breakin, just drive normal. Vary your RPMS. Change oil at near 1,000 miles or less with filter. Buy a stock Toyota oil filter, but use decent synthetic oil. Then slowly begin getting on it, in lower gears, just for a short burst. On turbo car, especially high performance vehicles, change oil at around 3,000 miles or so. Don't stretch it out more than 3,500 miles.
I am moving to Denver Colorado in a few months and have been wanting this exact car! I was pretty set on getting this when I move, but then when thinking about the winters and all the outdoor trails and camping available in Colorado, I started thinking maybe a midsize truck like the Chevy Colorado ZR2 would be a better bet. Any thoughts as someone who knows Colorado? Thanks!
@TalonSei thanks for the reply! My current vehicle is a scion frs that I've had for 8 years and done many mods to, so I already have a sports car that I still love. I was just thinking if I were to sell it and get a new vehicle. I appreciate your input!
Vary the RPMs and keep them 1/2 way to redline, no higher, for the first 1000 miles. Change the oil after break in. Your main/rod bearings will thankyou later... somewhere around 125K miles or so.
I've worked with a guy that went to study to the university of Toyota in Japan and he told me that if an engine is built to standard you can drive it like you stole it from cero miles. If it breaks then it would have broke in the future for Shure.
This was the first trip with it so I’m still in the “honeymoon” phase but it’s already so much more practical as a fun daily and it handles like it’s on rails. I think I’m going to be super happy with it long term.
As far as I know the app is what tracks your driving behavior and speed. If you don’t need it I would not bother with it. Also, great info on how you break the car in. I agree the conservative way is the best way.
I know they are fast off the line but It’s hardly even driving. Mediocre build quality on all Tesla products and nothing special from one to another. As a daily, a standard Tesla would be fine for a lot of people but cars like this are for true car enthusiasts.
NICE!! I am about to get the exact same car, same color too! That Heavy Metal is the best color! I haven’t seen a mark up on a GRC in a while! They are being advertised at +$2k off MSRP! The Autos are getting more but the manuals….they are being discounted heavy! I have been offered a premium for almost $4k off, but I am holding out to try and get a Premium Plus for almost $8k off MSRP! NTM, you have a large channel with advertising for the dealership. @ They are all over the country being advertised at $1k off for the Autos and +$2k-$4k off for the manuals. That’s without even negotiating. I'm pumped for this car to be in the SEI garage
You're new Corolla looks really good, congrats!!!!!

Looking forward to LLOD Golf R and Sei Corolla trips.
Too bad someone merged into his Golf R per his instagram story
Pick my GRC up tomorrow! Such a fun car.
Awesome!
5-w30 after break at 600 miles. you will thank me later. Also throw some shifter cable bushings on it for an amazing shifter feel
Is it a good daily driver for an only car you think?
You are doing exactly what I have in mind to do with my future GR Corolla. Will be following this series. Keep up the good work brother!
This is gonna be AWESOME! I can’t wait to see this build. Wicked sweet pick up!

Definitely not going crazy. It’s so good stock
What there are so many mods that transform/enhance the car

Great trade honestly. Hot hatches are just too much fun.
And I pocketed 10k at the same time 🫡
Oh hell yeah Talon
I'm a torque fan. Good for you!
There’s another USB-C port in the front; under the dash to the right of the charging pad.
Practicality, personal preference that suits is always the best purchase. I was also thinking of purchasing a Supra but instead went with WRX TS.
YES GREAT CHOICE my brother congratulations 🍾🎈🎊🎉 😎
Talon making wireless chargers his public enemy #1, was not on my 2025 bingo card but I'm all about it!!!
