Ovechkin is speed, rough and tough and will have the record most goals all time. Soon. Datsyuk had everything! Play both ends of the ice, best hands in the league, take aways constantly always league leading, score goals that blow your mind.
Great video brother but this only shows a little bit of his stuff . Datsyuk probably could have been top of the league many years in goals if he wanted to .. but he put his focus on being a all around player which he did better than anyone in the world for a number of years . Ovi is the best goal scorer I ever saw in my 30 years being in and around the game .. but even he would tell you that over all Datsyuk was the more complete player of that tells ya anything about pav . Hands down the best hands I ever saw in the game
Cheers mate! Wow, he sounds like some player. I think this was a good video for me to react to first as it showed a wide variety of his skills, I'll definitely now find a more extensive one that shows more of his skill range
When he came to the NHL he confused and dazzled.....now it’s more common. Everyone watched, copied and practiced. He was the most watched player by the other players. Btw. Ovi and Pavel, good friends
My friend, Datsyuk is THE Most skilled player (along with Denis Savard) to EVER put on Skates!! My race shirt in my picture is a “Blue Red Wings” shirt with #13 Datsyuk on the back!!
Datsyuk is one of the most skilled and complete players of all time. Ovechkin is a physical machine, who has shot that's never been seen before. Despite Ovie's huge upside, I would choose prime-Datsyuk before Ovie 10/10 times, if I should build a fantasy roster.
When building a team something to keep in mind is the positions in hockey. The best centerman is much more valuable than the most valuable winger. With no disrespect to Ovechkin or any of the other best wingers but you have to take someone like Datsyuk, Gretzky, Crosby etc
The thing about Datsyuk is he makes everything look easy. Hes silky smooth. You get it, but a lot of people that don't know hockey don't understand the body fakes and shifting weight from side to side completely throw you off as a defender. Unless you get hockey you wouldn't understand his brilliance.
Look at the skates when he does that deke too, hes got the coordination and hockey skills and smarts all wrapped into one, absolutely insane. GOAT forsure. I grew watching those plays live and fam let me tell you, that shit was absolutely out of this world.
Datsyuk is the most naturally gifted hockey player in history. He just had this unbelievable natural skill. You can't learn most of the things he did, it's something he was born with. If Pavel wouldn't have missed the first few games of the stanley cup finals in 09 with the ankle injury, they would have repeated as champions that year.
Datsyuk might be the best of the guys you mentioned when it comes to slowing the game down and utilizing hand-eye co-ordination. I'd actually put him #2 all-time for that behind Wayne Gretzky. He's also like Gretzky in that he was known as a gentlemanly player and he won a bunch of trophies for that. With that said, the overall impact of a player with his style was dependent on the particular era in the NHL with respect to rules enforcement. Datsyuk's first several years in the league were in the "clutch and grab" era, where defenders had more leeway to hand check, which hindered his early career. After the 2004 lockout, the rules changed to allow for more free-flowing offensive play, and he started to flourish.
@@kabirconsiders It's tough because his hey-day was the low definition, low production values 1980s. So the vids don't do him justice. But he is the undisputed GOAT. He has more assists alone than any other player has total points (assists + goals). He holds like 60 records. As soon as he stopped playing, the NHL retired his number (99) league-wide, so no player can ever wear it again.
@@GergLounge I'll 2nd this. As a hardcore Detroit fan, I could throw several others in the mix, obviously including Datsyuk... but Bobby Orr (Not of Detroit But undenied NHL GOAT candidate).. Stevie Y, Henric Zetturburg, (and getting away from detroit Crosby and Ovechkin are also in contention)
Two years late to the party but I'm a Detroiter and Wings fan so the Daysyuk content pops up. The goals are impressive but a Datsyuk stick handling highlight video is probably even more so. The dude has made some elite pro defenders look foolish. Best stick-handler I've seen in 25 years of watching hockey and one of the best two-way forwards.
Does this have that one penalty shot where Datsyuk flips the puck onto the goalie’s pads and the goalie puts it in for him? Edit: Yep, 4:28. That one’s a gem. Always the first thing I think of when I hear the name Datsyuk.

Super late here but would absolutely love to see you react to Gordie Howe, he's even got a stat named after him. The Gordie Howe Hat trick, a goal, a assist, and a penalty/fight. Dude was raised on some tiny canadian farm with almost no machines, dude was seriously built different.
Tough one to choose. Ovi is the greatest scorer in my opinion, but I’d probably go with Datsyuk. He was just.. different, and something magic was going to happen with him on the ice
Those last 2 goals are called "The Datsyuk" move because he invented it and many highly skilled players have used it since. As others have commented, it's a bit hard to compare Ovechkin and Datsyuk. Ovechkin is just an unbelievable sniper and goalscorer, a big, physical power forward. Datsyuk is a more well-rounded player, a playmaking center, but also a great defender. While Ovechkin is someone you put out on the ice for a goal, Datsyuk is someone you put out there to both defend a lead or to tie a game. Basically, he's on the ice for all key situations.
... the thing about the last goal is the unusual physics of the skating...its kinda hard to see but hes skating towards the left side of the goalie then he went lateral on the right side and score Average players might loose their balance doing that

One of the best two way forwards to play the game baby. Datsyuk is regarded as being one of, if not THE best skill player to ever be in the game. There's a small clip of Crosby trying to man him and Datsyuk almost made him fall over lmao. It's crazier when you think about his entrance into the league, it took him a few years to even get into the NHL, and he was picked *171st* overall in the sixth round in 1998. That's scraping the bottom of the barrel at that point, but Datsyuk and his teammate (Henrik Zetterberg) would be drafted the next year at a lower placement and soon become legends, at least in my eyes. He could do it all, score, pass, steal, hit, you name it. He could've produced a whole lot more but his team needed defense so he decided to work on that, he won the Selke Trophy for best defensive forward in the league 3 times in a row. Thanks so much for the breakdown mate. Even though this vid only shows his top 10 plays, the variety of skill he had is evident. Unbelievable control of the puck!
@@kabirconsiders Indeed, another thing that makes it hard to defenders to get the puck off him is how strong he is. For being 5' 11 and 200lbs, he can throw the lumber. There's a clip of him hitting Zdeno Chara (another player you should check out) and he's the biggest player to ever play at 6' 9 and 260lbs+, Datsyuk lunged at him and ABSOLUTELY floored him. I was shocked.
He is the Barry Sanders of Hockey🫡💪The Magic Man hands down and I believe most would agree. U could say Michael Jordan,Barry Sanders, Pavel Dats are at the highest peak of the Mountain in the US Sports Arena.
Ovechkin vs Datstyuk? Well, you don't get the nickname " The magic man" for nothing. There is nothing to compare - Ovi just a great shooter whilst Pavel was a complete and gifted two way hockey player
Brother, have you seen the Detroit Red Wings VS. the Avalanche in the 90s!? It was the most insane sports rivalry every. You talk about BRUTAL. Omg. So much blood, AND so many great moments
I dunno about that. Datsyuk was a Selke trophy caliber player and won 3 of them in a row. If Datsyuk sacrificed his defense he could have put up numbers similar to Crosby and Ovi. He was a point per game player with elite defense. I'd rather have Datsyuk on my team in his prime than either of the other two.
@@recipioct you’re allowed to have your opinion, but when it’s all said and done Sid & Ovi will both go down as top 10 skaters of all time. Their paths are also completely different. They were both first overall picks who had to handle the pressure of saving their respective basement-dwelling franchises. Datsyuk had the luxury of being sheltered by a model franchise that was already loaded when he showed up. Datsyuk is going to be a first ballot hall of famer, but Crosby & Ovechkin are generational talents.
@@JohnnW1212 They are indeed that but Datsyuk is just as skilled. He just focused his game to be more team and defense oriented. In their primes, I'd honestly take Datsyuk, he's more of what we call a 200 foot player than Crosby, and Ovechkin, though I'd love him on my team, is a 1 trick pony
The #1 goal is his signature move “The Datsyuk.” Ovi is a pure and amazing shooter but doesn’t play defense at all. Datsyuk is mr dangles and better defensively. Russians man. Gotta have some on your team if you wanna make any noise in the league nowadays. Watch my guy Nikita Kucherov’s goals. ;)

You have to look at Gretzky if you are going start the hockey journey. For a really good overview, look at the Names on the Cup. An official NHL video on the history of Lord Stanley’s Cup.
1- Datsyuk, he was the best all around player . His defensive skills can not be beat 2- OV great shot plus he is tough. OV didn't have the teams Crosby has had. 3- Crosby is a dirty cry baby. Malkin is better than Crosby. Messier>Gretzky Hasek>Roy
#2 & #6 weren't done in the NHL before Datsyuk did it on those plays. So Ovechkin is a prototypical power forward. Big, aggressive and an extremely power shot (and one timer shot). Also relentless and very driven. Datsyuk is a puck control, stick handler type. Very finesse, great deking, great vision. Crosby is jack of all trades. Super grinder with excellent play in all areas on the ice, hand-eye coordination off the charts. Makes plays out of nothing. Finishes plays that nobody else can. Ultra aware. Makes all the players around him look good.
Of these three I'd certainly have taken Pavel The Magic Man Datsyuk because he can do everything on the ice. Ovechkin is a bit one-dimensional. He does not play well in the defense. Crosby is better on this count, but he cannot steal pucks like Datsyuk and he cannot compare in backhanders.
If you’re gonna compare Datsyuk and Ovechkin, then I think you should watch the first 40 seconds of this video ... ua-cam.com/video/eD1_OZ-hjUM/v-deo.html 🤣 FYI, it’s called “What NHL Players Really Think”

Yup. And many ppl disrespect him cuz of his low producing points. Dumb dumb.
He could dominate a game without scoring. Best two way player I’ve seen. Skills for days.
Datsyuk he was a beast on defense as well winning the best defensive forward like five years streight.
We call it "top shelf"
Nice, I'm now learning the lingo lol
The NHL started tracking takeaways because of Datsyuk. The best thief in hockey.
He is the Barry Sanders of Hockey🫡💪The Magic Man hands down and I believe most would agree. U could say Michael Jordan,Barry Sanders, Pavel Dats are at the highest peak of the Mountain in the US Sports Arena.
Sick mitts
Ovechkin vs Datstyuk? Well, you don't get the nickname " The magic man" for nothing. There is nothing to compare - Ovi just a great shooter whilst Pavel was a complete and gifted two way hockey player
Brother, have you seen the Detroit Red Wings VS. the Avalanche in the 90s!? It was the most insane sports rivalry every. You talk about BRUTAL. Omg. So much blood, AND so many great moments
Datsyuks the man
He's a machine!
this seriously doesn't even show all of his best moves
Also need to look at Igor Larionov, the Professor also played for wings
ovechkin is a powerhouse datsyuk is a magician. I would take crosby on my team first
Crosby & Ovechkin are basically the Messi & Ronaldo of hockey. A comparable for Datsyuk would maybe be someone like Zlatan
I see, thats made it a bit clearer. Cheers mate!
I firmly believed he would have been challenging for point totals every year if he played with that as the goal.
This is coming from a Philly fan, I have no horse in this race.
Datsuk is Ronaldinho on ice. I say that base on his crazy dangles.
Datsyuk was just amazing! Don't say Crosby. Detroiters hate the prima donna Crosby.
The world junior hockey championships is currently on now in the quarterfinal stage. It’s a U-20 international tournament that happens yearly at Xmas/New Years time made up obviously of the top players under 20 and awaiting to move on to the NHL
I'll check if its on any of my sports channels
@@kabirconsiders not sure who else carries it, but I know for a fact TSN here in Canada cover it and I know a lot of people watch their feed from overseas. There’s is of course illegal streams online should you need a link lol
Kabir, check out Stadium Super Trucks.
I’ve put it on my list, thanks for the suggestion!
Ovechkin is much larger than Pavel
Man you reacted to nascar stuff and a red wings video?
This is great
I like to mix it up :)
@@kabirconsiders I appreciate it, keep up the great work
And if you choose to do more nascar stuff I reccomend s1apsh0es nascar alignment chart video. Really goes over some of the legends and big names
You should check out Patrick Kane
He's on my list!
His actual best highlights aren’t even goals
He's such a skilful player
Based on pure skill Datsyuk is better than Ovi. Ovi scored more goals and points obviously but neither Ovi nor Gretzky could do what PD does as easily as you and I breath. He is still playing in Russia. He decided to leave the Wings to go home. I am looking forward to his Hall of Fame induction.
Watch my guy Nikita Kucherov’s goals. ;)
First or at least first comment let’s go
First indeed Stacie :)
The man was best in tight, as was Barry Sanders both from Detroit teams
For those die hard sports nerds, How does he stack up to Yzerman or Howe ?
You should react to men's and women's billiards
Any specific vids or should I pick at random?
Right now Connor McDavid is the best Hockey Player in the World 🏒🤩💖!!!
He's 23 and has So many highlight videos😎!
I recommend his 15 top Goals/Plays: your mind will explode🤯!
Love from Toronto 💕
Thanks Laura! I've put Connor on the list I'll get to him real soon :)
@@kabirconsiders Super!
You have to look at Gretzky if you are going start the hockey journey. For a really good overview, look at the Names on the Cup. An official NHL video on the history of Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Check out Dominic Hasek!! The ONLY gOalie with MANY a Highlight Reel!!!
Ah yes the magic man
1- Datsyuk, he was the best all around player . His defensive skills can not be beat
2- OV great shot plus he is tough. OV didn't have the teams Crosby has had.
3- Crosby is a dirty cry baby. Malkin is better than Crosby.
Messier>Gretzky
Hasek>Roy
#2 & #6 weren't done in the NHL before Datsyuk did it on those plays. So Ovechkin is a prototypical power forward. Big, aggressive and an extremely power shot (and one timer shot). Also relentless and very driven. Datsyuk is a puck control, stick handler type. Very finesse, great deking, great vision. Crosby is jack of all trades. Super grinder with excellent play in all areas on the ice, hand-eye coordination off the charts. Makes plays out of nothing. Finishes plays that nobody else can. Ultra aware. Makes all the players around him look good.
Nice, thanks so much for summarising each of the players for me, from the videos I've seen of them your words are very accurate descriptions
Gotta do mcdavid if u haven’t
Of these three I'd certainly have taken Pavel The Magic Man Datsyuk because he can do everything on the ice. Ovechkin is a bit one-dimensional. He does not play well in the defense. Crosby is better on this count, but he cannot steal pucks like Datsyuk and he cannot compare in backhanders.
If you’re gonna compare Datsyuk and Ovechkin, then I think you should watch the first 40 seconds of this video ...

🤣
FYI, it’s called “What NHL Players Really Think”
Nice, I'll give it a watch, cheers!
I take Pavel BURE
🇷🇺♥️🇷🇺💪😎💪♥️🇷🇺♥️
Now you have a problem. Once you see Datsyuk, everyone else seems boring.
Not dat-sik.....daht-sook
Что негр в хоккее понимает?
These aren’t EVEN close to Pavel’s Best shots!! It’s just a lame compilation made up by some network!! Some aren’t Even in my Top 50!!
If I OR a REAL Pavel fan made OUR Top 10, you’d be absolutely SPEECHLESS My friend!!
