I found out recently that they changed our zones. Now I`m on the 9a line, supposedly. I just planted 5 more fig trees, four dwarf mulberry, and two pineapple guava. Then a frost came while they were all leafing out and I managed to cover them and the blackberry blooms with buckets, pots, tarps etc. I desperately want some sort of success this year. Just once. Now they`re predicting dangerous storms all year and pure doom. Maybe even more floods, droughts, heatwaves, those storms in the Gulf I`m afraid to mention...you name it. My anxiety is becoming chronic.@@SherrisPlants
Yes, I`m feeling overwhelmed too. It`s frustrating because I need to do so much but there are so many things happening in my life right now. I hope we`ll all get through these rough times. Life can be so difficult and scary and it`s getting to me and I know I`m not the only one. @@SherrisPlants
@@baneverything5580 Oh no. In my personal experience. What you are saying it true. It is not that it get cold, but that it gets cold after being warm. The good news is the trees you just mentioned are the hardiest varieties I have found. I can not believe how cold it has been the last couple days. Good luck. Also add a loquat to your list I have been admiring some neighbors trees and they are beautiful right now. I have a few I planted in the fall and they are hanging in there with no special treatment
I was gonna try loquat but I hope to find a cold hardy citrus variety if I can get to the right store. I`ve had bad luck with deliveries. My fig trees were "lost" for over two weeks and barely survived and the mail lady never marks anything as delivered but stuffs my plants in my mailbox 700 feet away. My strawberry plants were ruined by this. @@SherrisPlants
Fig leaves are just so fun and unique looking
I know kind of remind me of Adam and Eve. It makes me think of them because they were fig leaves and I wonder, what kind of fig?
How close a fig tree can be to the house is 10 Ft good enough if pruned?
If you are in Florida fig trees attract rodents. I do not think the roots will cause a problem, Thanks for asking
Trim it back to a manageable space and make tons more trees from cuttings. I`m in zone 8a not far from 8b Louisiana.
i plan on it. The list of things to get done and things I actually do are little off right now. I need kadota cuttings
