LAY HO LAY HO ☺️ I hope you’re cooking well and keeping warm! To find out more about the YMC nut milk bag visit www.yeungmancooking.com happy cooking 🥳
Being a compulsive South Asian tea drinker... love masala chai, love coconut and love Hojicha. This is pretty much the best of everything for me. Thank you!
Also had a nut milk business myself! Happy to hear you did too! In indian cuisine we make a ton of coconut milk so I learned how to make it from my mum, so it's about a 1:1 ratio of coconut meat and water, I think you used a lot more water. Also start with half the water first, warm water like you said it needs heat to break down but you don't have to rely on the heat from the motor. Then add the other half a blend. It doesn't need to be blended for longer than 30 seconds each time if you use the warm water and less water.
Caribbean countries usually use that coconut milk in their gastronomy, in Costa Rica, for example, they prepare Rice 'n beans and in Cartagena, a sweet rice made from that coconut milk. It is a legacy from Africa
Looks delicious, Wil!!! For viewers in London (Ontario, Canada), just a tip: in the Covent Garden Market, The Tea Haus sells hojicha. They have amazing customer service, and when I wasn't able to get my family to ship me some from Japan, I found The Tea Haus's tea to be quite good quality for a reasonable price.
That looks good! I also liked the "cozy" scenario that you described...a cup of this chai, sitting in front of a fireplace, listening to classical music! That's my idea of relaxation! 😊
Get a satisfying taste and a variety of aromas. The richness of the coconut milk and chocolate adds a nice flavor even when you drink it over ice. It just adds a little more sweetness. I live in a hot country. Drink cold, delicious and very refreshing. Thank you for the good recipe.🙏🥰🌱
Hi Tanya, Hojicha is a type of tea leaves, and totally different flavor than chai. I think Wil put the " - " in the title to make a play on words - they are both awesome teas though!! Happy holidays :))
This is Exotic cha. I know of adding coconut milk to coffee but not tea. Another exotic chai / tea is kashmiri cha I had at a house warming party. Its called Kahwa made & served in a samovar. It has a reddish tinge & has all these spices & saffron plus nuts in it like almonds
Chai makes life better; and coconut milk Chai makes it WAYYYYY better. It was nearly therapeutic watching this Video, more so when down with a nagging cold.
This recipe and your ses riptide of enjoying it are hitting all thr right notes of the song in my heart of a great moment of relaxation! Beautifully done
Will, the recipe is superb! My whole house smelled mouthwatering when I started grinding the toasted spices. Yummy! So far I know only matcha and genmaicha (any suggestions how to drink it pls), but hojica is a surprise! Keep the drinks coming😂 Thank you!
Genmaicha, I think you brew it with water that is just before boiling. Add a few grains of sea salt if you have it. Drink plain. It's good with sushi, Japanese food, or by itself.
Great recipe for wintertime! Are you using hojicha gold roast? Could you recommend a website to purchase the tea? This is the very first time I heard about the tea, and definitely would like to try. Can I use the can coconut milk in this recipe?
Good day Chef. This looks absolutely delicious 😋. Thinking about this on Christmas morning! Thanks for sharing. Do enjoy your day 😊 P.s. love your kitchen 👍🏼
You can just see how happy you are with that cup of tea at the end. 😀 I love to see that passion when people create. Do you have any advice on where to get good hojicha? Either order from Japan or somewhere in Europe?
I love love love all your videos. Your kitchen cabinets are so well stocked, where do you get your spices from? I know you can find some at the local grocery stores, but the quality doesn’t seem to be as good.
We make the same traditional tea and coffee with coconut milk but we don't boil the milk. We add the sugared milk into the decaution just before we serve the tea.
Big fan! Anxious to make my own milk. Do you have a recipe for Almond milk? Is it the same? Does a good results always require two kinds of nuts? Many thanks.
Thank you for actually responding to your subscribers. I love Asian food and I need to have more vegan meals. Plant based protein sources are hella good for you..but I have to avoid estrogen-rich foods, like soy. (I love soy milk)
Will this looks really lovely I must try this very soon. I got to do this and by the way your music is great on this video thank you so much as always.
WOW what a blender. Coconut is fresh here, can I use it or i have to use old coco..we have dried coco here however. Not like the stuff you buy in USA. I live in Mexico. Muchos cocos here.
If a high powered blender is not available, you could simply make the cashew milk. Soak them over night or in hot water for a few hours before blending.
Ooh I can't wait to make this during the holidays for family! I know you have fans from all over the world, but I am also in the LM area, like you. Is there a local place where you like to get your hojicha? Thank you so much for this beautiful recipe and video!
Great recipe! I love hojicha and this recipe. I also make a vegan hojicha bread and a granola. Love the flavor profile of this tea, but generally still order the tea leaves straight from Japan to make sure it's fresh.

What’s not to like? Throw in some pakoras, wear a jumper and you COULD be somewhere warm reminiscing! Too cold fo any other tea!😁

Thanks Shivani for sharing the coconut milk recipe. Will give it a try. 🙏😊
i think its that thin because hes using it for the chai specifically, not for cooking :)
Caribbean countries usually use that coconut milk in their gastronomy, in Costa Rica, for example, they prepare Rice 'n beans and in Cartagena, a sweet rice made from that coconut milk.
It is a legacy from Africa

What can be the substitute for hojicha
Black tea would work as well 🙌🏻
Is there anything we can substitute the hojicha with if we don’t have it on hand? I’d love to make this recipe for the holiday party.
You could use your fav black tea 🥳
Delicious and blends perfectly with the jazzy back sound... ❤️

Such a delicious drink going to make this for my family 🙏🏽from UK and thank you for sharing your beautiful ideas 🙏🏽
🥳🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
What would happen to the milk if you simmered it directly in the pan? The bain marie style bowl over the water method is a great touch.
🔥🔥🔥 tea music chef everything you're the best
This is such a great low caffeine alternative to chai. Thanks for the inspiration!
Can we use the coconut milk instead of coconut meat? In the town where I live, coconut meat is not available
Can we use regular tea powder too??
I just ordered what I didn't already have to make this. Can't wait to enjoy the taste and the aroma!
Wooo! 🙌🏻🥳 Excited for you to give it a try
Yummy! Cannot wait to try it!!!🌺

Great one! But why the salt …does it help to make it last longer? Just out of curiosity!✌️
Great recipe! I love hojicha and this recipe. I also make a vegan hojicha bread and a granola. Love the flavor profile of this tea, but generally still order the tea leaves straight from Japan to make sure it's fresh.
