General surgeon here. Enjoying your channel 👍🏼
I tried to explain this to my 79 yr old Mom when she got a wound recently. She didn’t agree. lol
Lol...I too used hydrogen peroxide on my son's cuts while he was young 🤷♀️ that's why these derms sharing their knowledge and expertise with us is so great ❤
I am 70 and we were taught our whole lives the wrong way. Age related thinning skin has me getting more cuts and I treat like them like he suggests here. They heal fine.

Totally appreciate the heads up! Very vital information Doc, good to know! Aloha!🤙🏼
Thanks for the advice and being real!
Thank you for some great information and suggestions to alternatives ways of wound care! 💜🤙💜
Extremely well informative. Thanks Dr Sugai.
Great content!
Thanks!
FANTASTIC ADVICE daniel sensei . homani arigatou !!
Your skin is amazing. Dermatologist are all so beautiful lol
Thank you Dr Sugai, you are the best!
Thanks for the info duder
Thanks for the advice Dr Daniel Sugai. 😁
Good stuff Doc. I'm 79 and recently badly scraped the side of my calf. Wound got mildly infected and had major swelling.
Went to my wound specialist and he prescribed 10 days of antibiotics. He then scraped it once per week and also prescribed
Santyl ointment which is like Vaseline only much stronger. Now healing really well. You need a script for this and it's expensive but worth it.
Legs are the slowest to heal and you need to keep wrapped with ace bandage for support, clean and change ointment daily,
Went to my dermatologist for a second opinion and he said to stay with wound docs program.
Good luck.
Godbless you for good work sir
Good advice, Dr.Sugai. I’ll keep the rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide for other uses. 🤙🏽
This was super helpful! I have always been suspicous of that foaming hyrdogen peroxide! I currently have an area of skin that has been itcy and weepy for over a week. It started as blisters and itchiness. I don't think I have been treating it correctly. How do feel about manuka honey. I had a burn once that got infected and the doctor recommended it. It did help things heal faster and less scaring. Thank you Dr. Sugai.
Thanks doctor! 😊 I've been struggling with looking for a doctor's opinion on how to take care of wounds since I wanted to start my first aid kit and I REFUSED to buy hydrogen peroxide because I knew it was bad for wound healing but I wasn't sure what was the best option to have in my kit 😊😊😊
Thanks again!!!! Super useful video
Thank you!You covered everything, so well. After two bites would not heal, I went to the urgent care facility, worried that they were not healing at all. The doctor told me that I was delaying healing on my shin, by damaging new skin cells every day, by using alcohol alternating with vinegar to clean the itchy bites. Now that I have learned that I have an extreme histamine reaction to all insect bites, I will stay with Aquaphor, and allow my skin to heal naturally. I do like the small band aids that cover the cuts and allow them to stay moist.
To stop the itch, run very warm almost hot water over the bite, as hot as you can stand obviously not burning youself for 10 seconds. Like a hot bath. The itch will stop for 2-3 hours.
Excellent info. Thank you. BTW: what about medical grade honey as a tx.?
Other hypochlorous acid spray products are by Skinsmart and Tower 28. It has other uses as well.
Thank you
Thank you. Great advice.
You are amazing. A few other videos do not provide background nor an introduction to who they are.. keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much!!! 🙏☺️
A friend’s father is a jeweler and they pierced ears at the shop with a piercing gun. He was always having to remind customers to clean their new earrings and wipe the piercing area (after soap and water) with alcohol and not to clean their ears with hydrogen peroxide as the piercing would not heal.
Dr Sugai can you please make a video about MSM powder for skin and hair. thanks
Thank you! What about a pimple that has just popped on its own? What would be the best skin care procedure for that?
Any thoughts about silver gel and hydrocolloid bandages? I love the hydrocolloid for facial wounds. Helps me not scratch and they heal much quicker.
I stopped using Neosporin based on your recommendation thank you
Good
Im 64 years old and have been using neosporin all my life, and never had a problem.
@@patsalas5170 Obviously.
Been eating peanuts my whole life, never had a problem. Why would someone with peanut allergy not try it sometime since it's delicous?
See how dumb that sounds?
@@user-hc2dz5cw9t The whole world must now cower before the one who stayed inside their whole lives, used antibacterial everything and never felt the sun on their faces or got dirt under their nails, because THEY might have a problem with something.
No Neosporin or adhesive for me. Purchased a HOCL machine, so any cut gets soap & water, hypochlorous acid spray and vasoline. Mahalo.
Can you make a video how to heal bruises
Thank you so much for this! I was wondering why my cuts take forever to heal! No more neosporin for me
Hi merm did you know I love you
Thanks! I am wondering what the doctor thinks about Tegaderm bandages.
Umm don’t recommend. It tore my skin off
Can I use caster oil on a deep cut on my finger? I cut my thumb with rose pruner after cutting a honeysuckle vine in my backyard yesterday.
Great video doctor, i always use vaseline on a cut ore scar when the wound has healed.
Why no Neosporin? I've usrd it for years with no issues.
Will brand organic castor oil work on a cut?
So then what do u use to heal a pimple, the kind that take foreverrrrr to heal?
Was always told to use drying liquids so to speak like peroxide, alcohol, tea tree etc
doc What cn u reccomend to post minor surgery toe nail..to heal wound easily?
15 years ago after a minor biopsy I developed a small rash. To my surprise my dermatologist said I was having an allergic reaction to Neosporin and latex bandages.
Neosphorine was my solution to almost everything😢. Yes,Thank You, it does not work as well as it did. I have an abrasion and it formed a blood blister. It bled. Now it has a scab. Yes, Thank You, I applied petroleum🙏
I used bandage on my open wound and it caused me small rashes around my wound what should i do now ?
I was at an event this weekend with on staff EMS crew. They were still spreading the myth that you should "air out a cut" I've heard from multiple doctors that moisture is the key to healing. I didn't say anything, and just thanked them for their Band-Aids.
Bacteria thrives on moisture so yes moisture will increase rate of infection
@@eddiew2325 Hello eddie. There is nothing like UA-cam to create more confusion in the curious' craniums.
I should have gotten stitches but I was told I waited to late.
It’s been over a week and it’s still not good. The skin was basically peeled back. 😦I went to a clinic but I don’t really know what to do now. 😢the neosporin tip I believe has been the problem so I stopped using it. It was like burning.
No good neourpin in wound fall down pls DR
How do you feel about Shea Butter instead of Vaseline? Apparently Petrolatum other than Vaseline might be contaminated as well because our standards aren't as high as Canada or Europe, Vaseline is triple purified however.
I also found a plastic-free option for four ounces for under ten bucks whereas there obviously isn't a refined version of that for Petrolatum packaging or processing-wise. Considering petro-plastic can interrupt the endocrine system and exasperate IBS etc I've been eliminating it more and more from my life, paint is another big culprit for it too btw.
What? Grandmas bottle of "Tincture of Iodine" was not the best as a boy growing up in dirt on a farm?
I had a number of crazy stuff, the big one was a broken board over a shallow porch and went to a wound center at our hospital. They removed tissue but no antibiotics!
Having back 1 per month, it was infected, puss up & down, they acted shocked, yet still no Rx antibiotics or topical. I kept asking and no answer. I have McKesson Dermal Wound Cleanser but can I spray, wipe gently using a Kimberly-Clarke L-40 lint free paper towel to help clean. I still use gauze under compression socks as taped & wrapped hurts!
Should I clean with a towel used to clean auto-body paint with cleaner. Should be fine, right? Thanks, very informative and grandmothers everywhere for 150 years have grab the iodine! LOL...
Is it still ok for bio oil on your scars on your face and skin and stretch marks?
Is it ok to put dettol antiseptic on the wound or use hand sanitizer on your cuts on your finger with blood on your cuts
@@annatran959hi Anna did you know you’re the best ever
I use manuka honey bro.
What about Polysporin?
I was thinking the same thing
Hello
My dad used to give me a shot of whisky before he did my wet to dry dressing . He had to demonstrate he could remain sterile and properly change my dressing.
We use Hydrogen peroxide for cleansing the cut injury for like the past few years !
Being there are an excess of soaps on the market what's the best simple soap (Without all the chemicals) you would recommend for cleaning?
My Dr told me to use Dial soap to clean a wound.
@@Lg-cd5ls Yup, That's def. Old school
❤️💖❤️🙏💖❤️💖
Guess that Neosporin needs to go in the Trash!
😂😂😂 guilty...I used hydrogen peroxide when my son was growing up...BUT..my parents used mecurichrome or merthiolate on our cuts 😮😂
Mercurochrome burned so badly. 😅 You unlock a forgotten memory.
im using vaseline rn for my little sisters wound. im going to be dead if my dad finds out.
Really good video with great content, but you need to change your edit technique. The "jerky edit" technique is VERY annoying!
Paramita, darling I love you
Why are we here in this life? Why do we die? What will happen to us after death?
@@ZachHorowitz27 NEW MEXICO ??
All answers to these questions are in the Quran try to read it to know the truth
1 because our parents fuck3d
2 if we don’t die new things can’t be born. It’s simply the passing of time, even stars die, the difference between us and the stars is that we’re able to understand the concept of death.
3 nothing will happen to you as an individual. You’re brain will stop working and therefore what makes you, you will stop. But you’re body will disintegrate and slowly through the passing of time, help bring other things into existence that future generations can enjoy.
