I jumped out of my seat when I saw it, good to see a fellow Video Pilot that noticed it also, Im hoping our Copilot saw it as well. I'm gonna call it a happy sad moment, Happy to see Andrews techniques still being used 10 years later sad that whoever made the title cards for the trailer basically copied and pasted it
You probably dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend recently xD
Appreciate his effort to teach us such cool yet simple to do effects and also share the files like the normal map and glass effects image.... Ur awesome bro
just the first couple of seconds I already fell in love with his channel! thank you so much for this. I'm definitely subscribing !! he keeps me engaged unlike some that just bore you. thank you!
Wow, man, I've watched 2 of your tutorials and this just got me. ITS AWESOME! I subscribed to you because your tutorials are just great! Keep up the good work!
Hi VC just want to thank for what your doing is amazing how can be people like you guys teaching and showing your knowlege to many people thanks for that in personal have learning a lot of you.
wow I loved this effect and am now rendering my rendition using a rainbow-hued rain droplet pic I took.. thanks for the sweet frosted glass technique ideas! Big vid-copilot fan! xo
Great tutorial, but i have newbie problem, all distort effect have a frame, if i increase text size and my text leave this frame, all effects gone! WTF? O_o
The effects' preview that he shows in the beginning of the tutorials are always looking a lot better then he achieves during the tutorial. The magician doesn't show his tricks :( But his tutorials are still awesome!
So first off, fantastic video sir! I was able to do everything exactly like you showed and the results were phenomenal. Thank you for that. My only question that I have is in your video intro you have the camera panning from different angles with flickering going on. How did you do that? Thanks very much for any and all help!
Always cool to watch you in action. I wonder though, how can you come up with what to do to accomplish a certain effect? I mean is there any instruction book for creating glass or all other things you share with us? I could just randomly put some layers and stuff together but it would in most cases end up in nothing. So how are you thinking? What am I supposed to know to figure out this on my own?
"It looks like Princess Leia is having some sort of issue" My sides literally hurt. Also, as someone who has never used after-effects before, but is experienced with sony vegas, what sort of tutorials or method of introduction do you suggest?
Ksp Maniac There's no real good way of learning after effects. I'm no pro by a long shot but if i was you I would just search for something that interests you and has a tutorial and follow it step by step, then go back and experiment, and then find a new tutorial. You should learn heaps along the way and then just try more and more complex stuff and to make your own original stuff. That's what I did / am doing. Hope this helps a lil bit :)
wonderful tutorial, thanks. your tutorial thought me a lot, one question suppose i want the same effect for different texts ( more than one) when i am trying my way ( making new composition and changing the text in it ) it changes the previous composition text too. how do i duplicate them where they are not linked anymore. Thanks again.
in this tutorial you have shown us the tutorial for 0.23- 0.26 but i wana learn to do the entire intro, the lightning and all the other stuff , please show me how to do it ( camera movements )
Hmm interestingly enough, the displacment actually moves with the text for me when I move the camera around. I think this is because of new version of AE wherein precomping issues have been handled. Still will follow your steps! Loving the tutorial Andrew!
I dont understand what is happening between 9:24 and 9:25. Anybody knows what happend to that layer? It seems to blur and loose some contrast and saturation?!
Looks like he cut the video to finish adjusting the curves settings. He probably wanted to hone it in a bit more but didn't want to make the video 10 minutes longer...
Can you do a tutorial that is more like real glass window that is a little more subtle and mostly transparent with just enough particles or effects to show that there is a window.
Andrew, What system are you using? I just got my Macbook pro Retina. Yet need help setting up the AE CS6. if you have any tips or links. Thanks. I like how smooth everything is too.
How can I get the text to approach the glass all at once (instead of letter by letter)? I have two lines of text so the "by line" feature isn't an option.
I suggest for those who wants to make something similar to the ready one he showed in the beginning, don't invert the ice_diffuse.jpg as he said and see the result.
I liked the movements too. Here's what worked for me: One way you can replicated it is by copying your completed comp 1 and pasting it into a comp 2 - delete the text and animating your camera 1 the way you like. Then do the same thing for a comp 3 to get another shot. When you're done, you should be able to import each comp separately into premiere For some shots, you can increase the comp's scale to get that "up close" feel. You may have to add an adjustment_layer_Curves. Hope this helps and wasn't a "well no shit sherlock" post.
Sir, at 8:01 when you moved the camera...i moved my camera too...but the diffuse.jpg didnt seem attached with the text...The diffuse.jpg would rotate and text would remain where it is :/ Please help me out
damn, when i'm trying to make an adjustment layer with the same displacement map effect happens nothing at all((( I have a texture and a normal map made by the texture and nothing =((( What am i doing wrong? Just copying the tutorial step by step... =(
hii can u just take little time and give some introduction about cut seen witch u used in this tuto. sorry for my bad English but i hope u can understand it
I love watching every one of your tutorials because there's so many unexpected humour that hits you in the face haha
Just came here to tell you all that this technique has been used in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Just saw the trailer and I was reminded of this. :D
I jumped out of my seat when I saw it, good to see a fellow Video Pilot that noticed it also, Im hoping our Copilot saw it as well. I'm gonna call it a happy sad moment, Happy to see Andrews techniques still being used 10 years later sad that whoever made the title cards for the trailer basically copied and pasted it
I think that this effect is more like ice than glass
"I'm not sure if you're supposed to die in 7 days after watching this.." lmao
+StatchoGit Lol
What is he talking about? The game 7DaysToDie? :o
You probably dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend recently xD

The effects' preview that he shows in the beginning of the tutorials are always looking a lot better then he achieves during the tutorial. The magician doesn't show his tricks :( But his tutorials are still awesome!
There is no blur for me when you get to the change shape part of the text. Did step by step, no blur. So I have no idea if it is even working or not.
one thing my camera is not working like yours, everything is moving not just the camera so it doesn't give the same feel
this is so awesome tutorial! all of your tutorials always helped me :3

My only question that I have is in your video intro you have the camera panning from different angles with flickering going on. How did you do that? Thanks very much for any and all help!

Can you Give the whole tutorial? The movements that are showed in the beginning and everything? Please.
