    I can't think of another 3rd party effects seller that teaches you how to make their effect without their product. Andrew Kramer=Ridiculously Awesome!

    I love this guy, like he really doesn't need to make all these tutorials, but he does, much respect for you sir!

  • @imann3

    This is why I have a high respect for you guys. Even when it doesn't directly increase sales by teaching people how to make their own, you don't try to hide the knowledge. Sincerely a loyal albeit poor customer.

    I noticed some people are ungrateful. Rather than just pausing it they complain about the speed of your work. I greatly appreciate what you do. For those who cannot purchase vfx assets and such you teach them how to make it. You guys are frickin awesome!!! (lol,that sudden change of grammar)

    good guy kramer. teaches people how to work around his own plugin

    • @Daelmyth
      @Daelmyth 10 років тому +4

      True, but there is so much more available in the plugin. Less manual work and more "at your fingertips" adjustments. All plugins are simply scripts that remove the labor of creating it yourself.

    • @PotatoClips

      yes, but a workaround it is still

    • @AsquareM
      @AsquareM 10 років тому +50

      PotatoClips Andrew's motto is helping others to create VFX for their film, video etc. projects. Not everyone will be able to "Shut up and take my money" on his every product. Also many people like the create and customise themselves, and dislike stock footage. This video is for that purpose. Shows Andrew's selflessness.

      it is such a blast!!! but i wonder how to apply it to a scene. I tried and it had a black round shape and none of the blending helped. Do you know what we can do to blend it into a scene?

    I've watched so many AE tutorials, and you Mr. Kramer, are still my favorite. Its fast, yes, but you give so much info in each vid. That's what the pause button is for. Thank you for the uploads!

  • @rahuldeshpande9997

    Dude I learned so much:
    a. Creating the shockwave pattern itself
    b. Ensuring there is randomness and complexity through copies and variations within
    c. Using CC Glass to get the liquidy look
    d. Using Bulge effect to create a circular center
    e. Using VC Vibrance for Color Grading
    f. Using Unsharp mask to sharpen and for more detail (Sub scale influence also helps)
    g. Using Pixel polly to create particle explosion from the center
    Thanks Andrew!

    Your video tutorials made me enjoy Procedural Motion Design within After Effects so much. It made me start thinking more critically. I have a BFA in Graphic Design, and starting with Alpha channels pre-comps has helped me exponentially with other Adobe Creative Suite programs mainly Photoshop & Illustrator. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge and dedication to teaching motion design!

    Reading through the comments I saw the several people had the same problem that I had at first. There were like glowing bands around the perimeters of the "waves". Luckily, I managed to find a solution! When creating new layers, the default colour is gray, and it should be black. So if you change the layer colour to black, it will get rid of the greying "waves" :D

    Hi, 10:42 I can't seem to figure out why my mask isn't working the way yours is. I follow all the steps exactly (cs6) but for some reason when I turn on the Shockwave Polar I still see the seams. Can you tell me one of the other ways to fix the seam? Other than that it's a 5 star tutorial.

    8. Transform > Offset Turbulence Y

    Toby Turner mentioned you in his vlog yesterday (said you were hilarious) so I decided to check out your channel. Funny and informative content. I especially like how you break down the scenes you've made to show what was real and what was effects, like the ones with the exploding train and alien gun.
    I'm severely impressed and completely green with envy that you got to work on Star Trek >:) and can I also say you have a very soothing radio announcer voice :)
    Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to trying one of your exiting tutorials when I have time to play with AE again. Hope you keep making great vids like these. Subscribed :)

    Hey, I'm 15 and have been animating with different programs for 3 years now, My parents believe that anything involving explosions or special effects is violent, to the point where they will kick me out of the house if I animate something like this (simple shock wave) :/

      XDX Gaming
      So your parents are angry when you animate an explosion? Seriously?
      That's why I thought you were trolling. It's really fucking weird. Talk to your parents and tell them that they are really fucking weird.
      I make UA-cam Poops where I make shits from random people, MLG videos full of ear rape and explosions and other videos where I use things like giant blurred dildo and nobody seems to care.
      Yeah, if your parents want to kick you out of the house if you animate a stupid shockwave, then you should really do something with them.

    • @AbyssalSoda
      @AbyssalSoda 9 років тому +1

      Hovna strejdy Dejva Yeah, but if they don't see me animating it I don't get caught, they're just now watching me whenever Ima on the PC, and thats what's pissing me off, cause of all things this shockwave is one of the least violent things I can think of, And the other thing is UA-cam is the one place I get to check out and do cool shit.
      EDIT: However Ima stupid for posting this comment for the world to see

    • @HovnastrejdyDejva
      @HovnastrejdyDejva 9 років тому +7

      XDX Gaming
      well, your parents are just weird
      most of the kids play games like GTA5, CoD, Battlefield etc
      and you animate things (and you're 15! Your parents should be proud of you because you do those things and you're only 15, most of other teens in you age play DotA/LoL etc.) and your parents are crazy
      I say "what the fuck", they should be proud because you're doing graphical work you can get easily paid for
      No you aren't stupid, just a bit stupid. It's pretty much anonymous here so no stress m8.

    The effect was very well made, but not the tutorial! Something that I watch on a lot of tutorials are people explaining just what they're doing, but not WHY, HOW or FOR WHAT HE'S GONNA USE IT, maybe.. Remember, you are explaining this to young deficient children haha' Which means, go slower on certain parts and more technical!
    Because between us.. who REALLY want to learn the technique, will watch even AN HOUR of tutorial!
    Anyway, very good effect! Congrats!
    PS: take that as a "helping critic!" ;)
