One criticism is that when shallan is trying to steal Jasnahs Soulcaster in way of kings, she and others talk about how if she did, Alethkar would go to arms to find her/get it back. Yet when they find out that Jasnah is “dead” no one says “let’s find who did this” or try’s to raise arms to avenge her. I know they were busy on the plains but still, that’s the kings sister and aside from Navani being heartbroken, everyone said oh well lol
That is exactly my thought as well. Also, the way nobody seemed to care how the f Kaladin survived that battle in the arena. Like, everyone including Dalanar was so focused on that Amaram vs Kaladin thing and NOBODY wondered enough how he does that.
@@MajklAstarin I think you just don’t understand racism in this instance.
For one I would assume that the majority of eyes were on Adolin the majority of the time. He was portrayed as having a remarkable display of skill.
Kaladin was playing more of the role of a distraction and using more trickery. We know Kaladin is exceptional, but they don’t. They probably inherently think he’s an unremarkable savage playing dirty already while on the other side a dang High Prince could die and upend the war and the kingdom.
But they know he’s remarkable in battle and Kaladin’s most dramatic moment was doing something that Dalinar had already done twice. At this point he was just Kaladin being Kaladin lol

So are you saying that there ISNT a love triangle because that would make me SO happy 😅 but every time Kaladin had those thoughts like “she makes me crazy, I can’t stand her” I kept waiting for that drop where he realizes that the whole time he was actually deeply in love and I was dreading allllll of that. I really REALLY don’t want to have a love triangle because Kaladin deserves better 😂
I don't want to see the love triangle because I really felt that there is a brother to brother relationship forming between Adolin and Kaladin. There's a competitiveness between them but also respect and sacrifice as if they're blood. I'd like to see continued instead of some sort of feud.
When you find out Adlene sat in prison the whole time Kal was in there broke my heart and made me fall head over heels in love with Adlene. Ugh such a good guy
It makes me sad how hated Shallan is. She is my favorite character in all the Cosmere and beyond. I’ve never felt so connected to a character and felt so seen. I just love her. I do not have DID I mean I feel seen by being someone who people think has their shit together and nothing bad has happened to them but it’s just cause your good at hiding everything.
And Pattern all day every day! I named my dog Pattern I love him so much

So, for the best moments no one mentioned when Kakadin thought Dalinar was going to make him apologize to Amaran, and Dalinar goes "Not you son." I was reading beside my husband on the couch (he hasn't started the series yet) and I whooped! And my husband looked at me smiling. 😅

Your breakdown of Shallans flaws is spot on! Love it! I didn’t even think about it until you pointed it out. My favorite scene is when syl returns to kaladin. ‘He is mine! I claim him!’ That was a moment

The cover of Oathbringer was a pretty big spoiler for me personally as I was reading Words of Radiance, and someone gifted me Oathbringer as a copy. They weren’t a fan of the series so they didn’t know to not tell me to not look at the cover… so yeah I was/am kinda annoyed about the cover.
Shallon grew up in one of those "privileged" homes. How would you like that?

I feel the exact same about Shallan ! I don't dislike her overall but she does annoy me a LOT sometimes ! And the reason why this book, although I LOOOVED the last 2 parts of it, is not my favorite is mainly because we follow Shallan the most and when she's on her own I really lose interest honestly... I fail to connect to her as I connect to Kaladin and Dalinar. And yes it's also not my favorite book unlike most people ; so glad to see I wasn't the only one ahah !
Oh also : I agree about Shallan/Adolin too ! It seems so superficial and I don't feel any real chemistry...
I just finished my first read of this. I loved it, but I did have one issue that bugged me pretty much the whole book. It was Jasnah. The whole book I was wondering when she would show up because I didn’t believe for a second that she was really dead. I think it’s because of how unsatisfying her death scene would’ve been if it was actually real.
Commenting late but I feel like I’m the only one who was annoyed by Syl. I like her at the end of ways of radiance, but got a annoyed that she was complaining to kaladin, when I just wanted kaladin to go berserk at times and get his revenge. I get why that upsets Syl and that Kaladin shouldn’t do that, but man sometimes I wanted Syl to just stop and let Kaladin go nuts lol
You are not alone in this one. I did not like her that much either. Also, I didn't understand why she was so upset about him wanting revenge, but she was totally ok with killing all those Parshendis. Like, their death is ok, but Amaram's is not?

Just finished WoR and was excited to hear this spoiler discussion of it! Unfortunately this group sound much more willing to spoil the whole series…
I find it so unfortunate that the Cosmere fanbase somehow pulled the winning Sorrow Lottery ticket... Because Shallan has 3 unique personalities - and yet somehow all 3 of her personalities are each more repugnant than the last.
