About the book:
Expected by his enemies to die the miserable death of a military slave, Kaladin survived to be given command of the royal bodyguards, a controversial first for a low-status "darkeyes." Now he must protect the king and Dalinar from every common peril as well as the distinctly uncommon threat of the Assassin, all while secretly struggling to master remarkable new powers that are somehow linked to his honorspren, Syl.
The Assassin, Szeth, is active again, murdering rulers all over the world of Roshar, using his baffling powers to thwart every bodyguard and elude all pursuers. Among his prime targets is Highprince Dalinar, widely considered the power behind the Alethi throne. His leading role in the war would seem reason enough, but the Assassin's master has much deeper motives.
Brilliant but troubled Shallan strives along a parallel path. Despite being broken in ways she refuses to acknowledge, she bears a terrible burden: to somehow prevent the return of the legendary Voidbringers and the civilization-ending Desolation that will follow. The secrets she needs can be found at the Shattered Plains, but just arriving there proves more difficult than she could have imagined.
Meanwhile, at the heart of the Shattered Plains, the Parshendi are making an epochal decision. Hard pressed by years of Alethi attacks, their numbers ever shrinking, they are convinced by their war leader, Eshonai, to risk everything on a desperate gamble with the very supernatural forces they once fled. The possible consequences for Parshendi and humans alike, indeed, for Roshar itself, are as dangerous as they are incalculable. - Розваги
Which is your fav book in the series?
Words of Radiance comes close, but book four is actually my favorite. Rhythm of War is just a masterpiece if you ask me.
I’m hyped I love masterpieces!
Oathbringer for me because the sanderlanch with dalinar gave me the shivers but it's a lot of peoples least favourite or rhythm of war because that one is more sciencey, plotty world buildy than character focusey (from what i've heard and read on the wiki i haven't actually gotten around to it.
I'm currently reading elantris for the read of mistborn era 2 b4 which you don't necesarily have to read elantris from what i've heard but characters from sel (the planet) show up so yeahhh. Elantris is his first book tho and more rough. Less polished i guess. SL is so good i think cause he had a lot of practice with mistborn and finishing wheel of time while elantris is kinda twok before the twok
Would you suggest Mistborn after Stormlight or is there another series of his that is better for the next batch?
Mistborn after Stormlight is definitely a good idea. You could also pick up Warbreaker of one of the secret projects. I wouldn’t be too concerned with reading order so long as you don’t miss books.
This book was Kaladin's rebellious phase
True! Great growth throughout the book
Oh, Wit... That's another whole story...
I love Wit
Kaladin swearing the 3rd oath is my favorite moment of all time. It gives me goosebumps every time.
YES ahh the entire book is goosebumps!!
That’s a great moment.
But my all time favorite moment is “honor is dead, but I’ll see what I can do.”
Which is also from this book
I just started Stormlight and i am soo grateful to your videos coz it feels like i have someone to talk about!
Aww yay I’m glad!! That’s actually why I started making book videos cause I had no one to talk to about what I was reading 📖
Great job. Really enjoyed your enjoyment.
Aww thanks!! It was such a fun read
That was really cool mate - yup this is in my top 3 books of all time, i can't fault it at all. 'Honor is dead. But ill see what i can do' is like, i still get goosebumps just writing that lol. Ah Wit... a man of many names - how much Cosmere have you read? Or are you starting here..?
Such an amazing series!! Stormlight is the first series I've read in the Cosmere. I'm reading Mistborn now!
Personally, Lopen is my favourite Bridge 4 member. He's too funny
Omg yes!! He makes me laugh out loud so much
I think Sanderson pronounces Adolin with a long A, as he is fond of doing. I wouldn’t say that is the correct way as many people pronounce it with a short A, as I used to, and that is perfectly valid as well. People sometimes make a fuss about how the audiobook pronunciation is always correct, but the two audiobook narrators for Stormlight sometimes pronounce things differently from each other. I guess the moral of the story is that I wouldn’t stress pronunciation too much.
Zahel, the instructor, actually is one of the protagonists of Warbreaker. If you want more of him and his backstory, make sure to check that one out.
You’re on to something when you say Hoid (aka Wit) is up to something. When you read the rest of the cosmere, keep an eye out for his shenanigans.
I personally have also never recovered from Words of Radiance plot twists. Or plot twists from the rest of Stormlight. Welcome to the club!
Thank you!! I’m glad to be part of this amazing club 💖 Ouu okay I am so interested in Zahel as a character so I’ll have to check that out too. Glad to see that you didn’t recover from this book either 😂
@@imtalkingwafflesMore importantly you get to meet everyone's favorite evil fighting sword.
@@skyguy713 I love that sword
I got to reread these books cause I remember nothing
Fair 😂
Chasm - ka-sum. Not a ch sound.
lol oops! 😅 thank you!
