This whole thing is super sloppy. Like the last book summary, the editing is very choppy and cuts things out, such as character names. That plus the missing plot points, and even a giant glaring typo in the titles he added later to try and patch what he missed point to laziness. Why upload a video with this many mistakes instead of checking it carefully first, and redoing it if need be? The previous book summary he put up left a lot out, too. The whole part about Honor and Odium seemed like an important tidbit to gloss over. Especially with the Interludes about the Parshendi. Kind of critical to the story
Hey Dan, nice summary video. I just re-read the book a few weeks ago myself and feel like you caught most of the main threads. One thing you got a bit mixed up was calling the group plotting to assassinate the king 'bridge 4 men'. The only person from bridge 4 was Moash, previously the member that Kaladin saw most as an equal/friend, who knew one of the guys from this strange group from back in the day. This group turns out to be The Diagram, the one created by Taravangian, the King of Kharbranth, a small city, who becomes the King of Jah Kaved as a result of civil war he orchestrated by assassinating all the various kings and high lords. And Kaladin 100% killed Szeth, but it was Darkness (the Herald of Justice, Nale, the guy who tried to kill Lift in her Interlude, and generally goes around killing potential Radiants including that old shoe maker) who knew exactly where he would drop and had a fabrial that can revive a person in the short period before their soul leaves the Physical Realm. This was his rationale for why Szeth was no longer Truthless and could start again. Also the Sword at the end, Nightblood, was definitely created in the Warbreaker world, Nalthim; you might recall he was created by Vasher and Shashara (V's wife) hundreds of years before -- they imbued him with thousands of Breaths and the Command to Destroy Evil. An Awakened Sword has similarities to bonded spren in that they are both the result of large amounts of Investiture focused to a particular idea and seem to have overwhelming power when fueled by Investiture but we don't know much more than that yet. Also, in case you missed it, Vasher is the gruff priest, known as Zahel, that teaches Renarin and Kaladin a bit about sword fighting and using Shard Blades & Plate. I also think you'll find that a lot of people disagree with your interpretation of Adolin. As a character he has repeatedly shown that he's incredibly chill, positive, optimistic, and most of all honourable. Him killing Sadeas wasn't just 'him getting emotional'. Sadeas killed thousands of his men. Sadeas clearly attempted to kill him and his father. Sadeas then continues to attempt to humiliate and assassinate Adolin, Renarin, and Dalinar again and again. Sadeas acted without morals and did everything he could to try to embarrass, ruin, and destroy Adolin's family. Even after it comes out that Dalinar was in his right mind the entire time, Sadeas laughs it off and makes it clear he will continue to do everything he can to keep screwing them over. To screw everyone over. At that point, it's clear that Adolin had to kill Sadeas and he had every right to do so. It was what his father, as the Blackthorn, would have done. Not bandying about with pointless political games, but doing what had to be done. Sadeas' 'murder' was as Just and necessary as Shallan's murder of her father. If someone repeatedly tries to kill you and people you care about (and does kill people you care about), and essentially tells you they're not going to stop, you'd be more messed up to not do something. Btw, regarding the part where you talk about Wit popping up in Shallan's past (putting powder into his drink); this was actually explained in Mistborn: Secret History. If you haven't yet, you really need to check it out. The quality of writing is far closer to Stormlight Archives than the original trilogy and a lot of the reveals tie both of these series together. The Cognitive Realm / Shadesmar plays a large part. And, like yourself, I wasn't impressed by Kelsier as a character in TFE but his point of view is really enjoyable this time around.
Mark Tilbey I️ like your interpretation of Adolin but I think there has been small foreshadowing that he will not turn out to be a positive force. Mainly Syl saying she doesn’t trust him and his willingness to kill. There are always a few errors in these but I️ try my best! Please keep letting me know when I️ make a mistake.
Mark Tilbey Brandon Sanderson said that not all orders of the Knights Radiant would be against what Adolin did. While the Windrunners and Skybreakers would be against it. The Edgedancers and Elsecallers would probably be ok with it.
In the newest version of WoR, Kaladin does NOT kill Szeth. He cuts his wrist holding the Honorblade. Szeth has mentally surrendered to die by Kaladin and his bond to the sword is also released. Szeth falls to his death where resurrected by Nale. Brandon changed the ending after releasing the book.

I loved this too but I didn't love the way Shallan treated Kaladin up to this boy and found her quips in these books rather cringey than clever. Still this scene rocked and I loved how they shared their stories during the highstorm. Also Kaladin is the fucking goat.
Watching this after reading book is very funny : "Oh Shallan had to kill her dad, who had already killed her mother in front of her eyes. She really has a sad backstory". Meanwhile Sanderson : "Let me give Shallan a backstory that is 10 times more horrible and makes you realise the absolute shit storm she is emotionally"
Thanks so much for these! I read the first two books in prison, fantasy was always such a great escape. I wanted to continue reading this work, but had forgotten a lot of the story. Don't mind what other folks here say, you did an excellent job and painted the picture beautifully!
After reading The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance in January and February of this year, I just picked up Oathbringer and realized I’d forgotten SO much. Thank you for this thorough summary; now, I can get on with reading book three!
The Assasin in white does not retreat. He gets stabbed with a shardblade through the spine and dies. We know he's dead because the link with his shardblade is severed and the shardblade appears. Kaladin fetches the sword. We later find out that someone found Szeth and brings him back to life.
RoscoFPV Actually Szeth is stabbed with Kaladin's side knife (which he uses to try to sever his spine with) and Kaladin cuts off Szeth's hand, holding his shard blade, which prompts the severance. The severance is allowed by Szeth who has just been devastated. He is brought back (by Naln?) to life, to his dismay.
Sanderson retconned this part and it changed after the first edition & audiobook - in the original Kal stabs Szeth with the Sil-blade, but Sanderson decided that kind of cold-blooded action was out of character (the fight was won already), so in later editions I believe Szeth simply lets go of his stormlight and falls from the sky to his death.
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS Doesn't excuse the mistakes made summarizing the book - you know, the whole reason people tuned in to the video. Fan boy.
I love your stuff. And still enjoyed this video quite a lot. The biggest thing missed for me was basically all of Tyn's story. How SHE who con'd Shallan was part of the ghost bloods, and they killed Jasnah, and when tyn found out about Shallan as Jasnahs ward right infront of her... so good... then she uses her Shardblade(honor blade?) for the first time?
Dude, I never got more angry with a character for doing something so stupid, and yet entirely IN character as I did when Kaladin jumped into the arena to help Adolin.
About to read Oathbringer, glad to have a "quick" recap! Thank you Mr Greene :) Also, a lot of people are criticizing harshly this video... But come on, it's not fare: - This book is incredibly huge, and he managed to sum it up in 30min. Things that were important to you may not be for him, and vice-versa. - Sanderson himself is the first to say that there is no official pronunciation for his characters' names, every reader can invent its own. - To this day (April 2020), he's the only UA-camr who made a summary of this book. The. Only. One. - Details are not important, it would require an hour long video. People who want them can go read the comments (and I salute all the people who provided them, it's nice to have complements to the video :) ). Yes, I would have prefered something a bit slower, with more fan-art, structured with written titles on screen, more details, no errors etc... But many fantasy series do not have this kind of content, leaving no choice but to go back into a series where you forgot half of the plot. Just because this summary is both rare and useful as it is, it has value. And I don't want to learn how much time you spent on this, because frankly I wouldn't have had the courage to do that much! x) I hope it will encourage people to make their own summaries for Stormlight Archives or other fantasy series, because it's clearly something missing for UA-cam today! Have a nice day Mr Greene! I guess bad youtube comments doesn't hurt you after that many videos, but positive comments doesn't hurt either ;-)
Shallan,. Shallom, Sallan, Salam...... I'm getting the feeling he doesn't like her. Daniel does not mispronounce any of characters' names, even more complicated than hers 😉
I found these really great as I try to remind myself of what's happened ahead of the Rhythm of War release. Are you planning to do an Oathbringer summary also?
Shallam, shallome, shamamalama. I’m dyslexic and just kinda give up when it comes to fantasy names of people and countries. I️ could look up everyone’s pronunciation but I’d rather just have a small joke of constantly slightly saying it wrong.
I empathize with being dyslexic and fantasy names can be complex, but Shallam is distracting. I'm fine with people pronouncing it perhaps not like I do, but you replaced an entire letter. It'll be like if people started calling you Baniel rather than Daniel.
I don't think Shallan has the hardest past. she had one big issue where Kaladin had kinda small yet hard problems with trust and honour where he worked his way to overcome it but again and again, and he just wouldnt get a brake
Ethan Mann sure, she only suffered constant abuse for 17 years. What’s that in the face of his several months of harsh life as a bridgeman? I think they each faced hardships of their own and it can be argued both ways as to who had it worse
Ummm Bridge Four definitely were not behind the assassation attempt on Elokhar, that was Moash and people working for the big T and the Diagram faction.
There was a masssssive flashback with Shallan that was missed. She killed her mother and her father covered for her. Essentially she created the monster that was her father and Pattern was locked in that chest behind the painting.
Thanks for summarizing! I didn't have time to re read the first two books before oathbringer. I appreciate the effort you put into this, keep up the good work!
This makes for a good review but not a great summary. There's a lot of great stuff missing. I suggest the graphic audio books! They're a little more money but you can listen while doing other tasks and are the quickest way to get through the book without missing anything. (Also theyre freaking intense and immersive)
Thank you so much for your recap. I’m an audio listener so recaps like yours really help to make sure I’m leaving w an understanding of what happened by filling in some of the blanks!
Daniel, thanks for your great videos. You've been ramping up the content lately too, which is really nice to see. Keep it up! Any chance for an Oathbringer "Let's Summarize" coming soon...?? :-)

This is an amazing recap before starting Oathbringer. thank you! ...but it sounds like you start with saying "Shallan" then go to "Shallam" and then "Salam" then back to "Shallan". =p
Nnnooooo Sadeus had that shyt coming!! Also Adolin is gonna revive his shard blade and bond it becoming a radiant I just know it. Either that or Moash is gonna swoop in and do yet another thing that’ll cause more hatred to be settled at his door step
the head of the caravan is a dude but the leader of the caravan guards is a lady and it is her who "discovers" that Shallan is a con-artist. theirs a whole thing about how weird it is that she was carrying a blade. it seemed to me that she was meant to represent another kind of strong female representation that Shallan could learn from. Yasna is hyper intellectual and emotionally stunted, the con-artist is clever and emotionally manipulative, and the queen mother is imaginative and emotionally stable. Shallan's arc has a major undertone of those three representations of strong women waring for dominance in her mind as she seeks a way to ground herself so that the traumas of her past don't drive her insane.
thanks for this, i didnt wanna reread the book, but i remenber there was a parshendi leader woman doing something about the storms, anyways it refreshed everything in my mind, thx.
There are quite a few inconsistencies in this summary which I feel will change the impact of the story. It was still a very good summary in such a concise timeframe.

Adolin can never be a windrunner, but can be a radiant of a different order.
I'm surprised by the number of mistakes in this summary.
No joke.... mainly wrong names for who does what.
Make your own video then, dude.
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS I have a lot of great videos on my channel you can check out. Thank you for supporting my channel.
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS Doesn't excuse the mistakes made summarizing the book - you know, the whole reason people tuned in to the video. Fan boy.
The largest i noticed was that "Bridge four planned to kill the king". nope
Literally finished the wheel of time videos yestrday i love this channel keep up the good work.
Thanks! Really appreciate that
I love your stuff.
Dude, I never got more angry with a character for doing something so stupid, and yet entirely IN character as I did when Kaladin jumped into the arena to help Adolin.
i love every time you say sallam. its just so funny to me, I'm not mad about it.
As Pattern would say, SHAALLANNNN! I love Pattern, he’s hilarious. “No mating”.
About to read Oathbringer, glad to have a "quick" recap! Thank you Mr Greene :)
Also, a lot of people are criticizing harshly this video... But come on, it's not fare:
- This book is incredibly huge, and he managed to sum it up in 30min.
And I don't want to learn how much time you spent on this, because frankly I wouldn't have had the courage to do that much! x)
I hope it will encourage people to make their own summaries for Stormlight Archives or other fantasy series, because it's clearly something missing for UA-cam today!
Have a nice day Mr Greene! I guess bad youtube comments doesn't hurt you after that many videos, but positive comments doesn't hurt either ;-)
ShallaN not ShallaM Driving me nuts how you're saying it. :)
Exactly, I ended up shouting "ShallANNNN" in public
As Pattern would say, SHAAALAANNNN!
You’ll be okay.
Shallan,. Shallom, Sallan, Salam...... I'm getting the feeling he doesn't like her.
Daniel does not mispronounce any of characters' names, even more complicated than hers 😉
About to read Oathbringer so thank you for the amazing recaps!
I found these really great as I try to remind myself of what's happened ahead of the Rhythm of War release. Are you planning to do an Oathbringer summary also?
ShallaN... I swear you keep saying Shalom
You poisoned my mind! now thats all i can hear! haha
Shallam, shallome, shamamalama. I’m dyslexic and just kinda give up when it comes to fantasy names of people and countries. I️ could look up everyone’s pronunciation but I’d rather just have a small joke of constantly slightly saying it wrong.
Thak for the summary but, yes, it was quite bothersome that you kept saying Shallom.
If you heard how we'd pronounce it in an Irish accent it'd bug you even worse: Sha-lin
As in, "Shalin, ged in fer yer egg!!"
I empathize with being dyslexic and fantasy names can be complex, but Shallam is distracting. I'm fine with people pronouncing it perhaps not like I do, but you replaced an entire letter. It'll be like if people started calling you Baniel rather than Daniel.
Didn’t really talk about Syl getting distant and him almost breaking the bonds, and that the guy is Moash
I don't think Shallan has the hardest past. she had one big issue where Kaladin had kinda small yet hard problems with trust and honour where he worked his way to overcome it but again and again, and he just wouldnt get a brake
Ethan Mann Everyone is entitled to their own sorrow, for the heart has no metrics or forms of measure, and each of it irreplaceable.
Ethan Mann sure, she only suffered constant abuse for 17 years. What’s that in the face of his several months of harsh life as a bridgeman?
I think they each faced hardships of their own and it can be argued both ways as to who had it worse
Excellent video and just what I needed before starting book 3. Thank you!
At 19:50 you don't say that her father has the fit because she poisons him with the 'Blackbane' that her brother had given to her years ago.
loving the summary so far to remind myself about all I've forgotten in the series before continuing, but man does Daniel speak fast.
Idk maybe I am wrong, but I hear him consistently saying Shallam and not Shallan, but still I enjoyed listening to the summary. Thanks
Apparently besides Dalinar, I've been mispronouncing every characters name in my head while reading, ha.
Thank you! After waiting two years I just didn't want to reread 1000 pages. 😁
This makes for a good review but not a great summary. There's a lot of great stuff missing. I suggest the graphic audio books! They're a little more money but you can listen while doing other tasks and are the quickest way to get through the book without missing anything. (Also theyre freaking intense and immersive)
Go on the Coopermind wiki, there's a paragraph summary for each chapter. Great for a refresh.
Thank you Daniel. You obviously missed some important bits but I still appreciate you doing this.
Thanks for these videos dude. I just bought the 4th book and you make is SO easy to catch up. You also have the piercing blue eyes of a Siberia husky
Thanks I didn't want to tired my eyes out rereading the last part. You do a great job and it really jogged my memory of it! Thanks for doing this!
Great summery. Thanks! I just bought Oathbringer and needed a refresher as it's been about 8 months since I finished Words. Good job on the video!!!
Thank you so much for your recap. I’m an audio listener so recaps like yours really help to make sure I’m leaving w an understanding of what happened by filling in some of the blanks!
I love how Daniel calls her Shallome lol
Daniel, thanks for your great videos. You've been ramping up the content lately too, which is really nice to see. Keep it up! Any chance for an Oathbringer "Let's Summarize" coming soon...?? :-)
This is great. I just started reading rhythm of war and realized I’ve forgot everything
Very well put together and a great refresher leading into book three!
Just started reading Oathbringer, this was the perfect summary to get back into the story line. Keep up the fantastic work!!
this quick Summary hurts my soul XD
Moash is so overlooked in this.
This is such a good recap! I Hope UA-cam is paying you
Just finished this book. It's awesome. Ready to start the next one.
Thank you for making this! I'm about to read Oathbringer and it's been a long while since I read this one. So THANK YOU :D
Starting Oathbringer today. Forgot I preordered it... Thanks for this recap and all the artwork!
Dude shallans first flashback threw me for a loop, complete tone change
Thanks for the summary! Now that the fourth book is out I’m trying to remember everything that happened across three massive books.
This was a fantastic review! I'm ready for Oathbringer now. Will be checking out your Wheel videos for sure!!!!
Thanks for doing this review! We just finished this long, crazy book.
Thanks for these just picked edgedancer and didn't fancy rereading a couple thousand pages I forgot years ago lol
Great video book report! I appreciate it. Ive read the books each twice and cannot wait for oathbringer so this was a great refresher! Keep up the good work
I'm so thankful for these!!
Thanks for this Daniel man. Rhythm of War just released and I needed the recap.
This is great. I'm just getting around to starting book 3 so this was a great reminder of everything that happened.
Great summary. A ton of key information. Thank you . Starting book 3 very soon 👍
Daniel I love you but omg her name is Shallan :)
This is an amazing recap before starting Oathbringer. thank you! ...but it sounds like you start with saying "Shallan" then go to "Shallam" and then "Salam" then back to "Shallan". =p
Words of radiance is the best fantasy book I have read.
8:11 Adolin joined, not Amaram. 4 years later, I know I know.. just started the series, it's great:D
There are quite a few inconsistencies in this summary which I feel will change the impact of the story. It was still a very good summary in such a concise timeframe.
DanieI I prefer your old videos, like this one, than the new ones. Don´t exert yourself and keep up this good content.
I did like your recap, ty keep it up. I just wanted to say that you forgot the Parshendi Shardbearer is Eshonai, and their story which is pretty amazing. Again though great job
Is he saying Shallam instead of Shallan??
Am I the only one who didn’t believe for a second that Jasnah was dead?
'Pattern gives a cryptic answer..." lol I see what you did there.
i love how u explain things
Lots of other people were on the bridge with Shallan and Kal. They died
Thank you so much for this summery 👍
I swear it sounds like you're saying "Shalohm...ng"???
These are fucking awesome man. thank you so much for giving me such great reminders of the previous books before I go into number three
Damn we need for oathbringer too!
Gracias!!!! Recién compre el ultimo libro y paso tanto tiempo que esto me re sirvió de refresco!!! You are the best!!!
EXCELLENT
Love the fact that you don't have any stupid background music. Hate those spa music bs.
