When I inherited this car from my dad, he told me to not to use the parking brake, because it didn't work. Now it works, thanks to you. I love you, man. 😁
Fantastic video! Dealer estimated that it would be a $700 repair, so I delayed fixing it & would pull up brake with my foot when it stuck. I did it myself in five minutes with a $10 can of WD-40.
This worked perfectly. My parking brake was slow to come up or I had to pull it up with my foot. A few sprays of WD-40 and it now works better than ever. MB212, I wish you still had your car, your videos are super helpful. Thanks!
Thank you for this! I was able to fix my mother-in-law’s car in 10 minutes and save her $500. Now my wife understands why I carry trim tools and WD40 in the car all the time😅
use a pleasant smelling and non-nasty penetrant like Spin-off-- your darlings will love u even way way more, and u and they won't have harmful and bad smelling chems in your nose, etc
Thanks for the tip! Had a different problem today (parking brake light warning on dashboard even after disengaging it), but followed your instructions and found out that the sensor fell from the metal bracket - probably after a REALLY hard press of the parking brake in a heavy slope... After five minutes fighting with it I managed to put it back and saved a lot of money hahaha
Great you solve it without empty the wallet hehe! I actually never really use mine other then occasionally when is really bad leaning where I leave the car.
Sensor? Where is it? I’m thinking that may be my problem. My pedal worked fine but I pushed it while on a steep slope at a golf course. Now pedal is disengaged but floppy & light is on.
@@lisacantlose did you figure it out ? MY 2014 C 250 SPORT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE .The light is on my dash beeping and saying my emergency break is on ,WHICH It clearly is not on .
I tried your method and it worked. Not smooth but worked. Perhaps not enough WD40 squirted into it as I was in a hurry. Very cold -4c this morning. Thank you 😊
nicely done !! Germans fiound avway to formulate their lubricants to evaporate sooner rather than later. I found the brake caliper SLIDER PINS were nearly dried at 10kMi... that made my brakes pedal hard to get braking done. Once I lubed the slider pins with silicone grease the brakes got very responsive and proportional. 👍
Wonderful video, thank you! Worked perfectly. I don't have the trim removal tools, but on my 2014 C300, I was able to lift the side panel from the very bottom and snap it out without difficulty. It really helps to wear a headlamp, FTW.
A great help. I have a small tool for opening watch cases and although it has a metal end it worked very well, in fact it was a lot easier than shown in the video.
@@MB212 what was interesting is that my initial issue was during my extended warranty period. I was charged for the lubrication. When that didn’t do it and they replaced the assembly that was covered under warranty and the prior lube fee was refunded.
Nice it worked out, don’t forget to use it that’s the main problem is starts to get bad again! I now use mine few times every month and it keeps working good.
@@MB212 What about atf? I think it will last much longer. Old benz throttle linkages are used to lube with atf and you would easily use it throughout a year (in fact much longer).
Hi, when I depress the handbrake pedal, it doesn’t effect the brake shoes and the handbrake doesn’t work. I feel that one of the cables may have been snapped or come out of place underneath the car. Would I need to take off the underbody trays and exhaust shield to get to the mechanism?
Interesting had no idea about that, but could not advise how to apply for that kind of setting because I have not any right hand drive car over here to check.
Hi. I was stupid enough to press my P-brake during -15°C and something happened since the wire on the release handle jumped out and the handle itself. Now the P-brake wont engage on +7°C (i only did the 3 clicks with the hand) i mounted back the wire in to the release handle and it just stays pulled out. There is slight resistance on the wire so i guess it did not detach or jump off where it sits. What could have happened? Should i tried pressing the p-brake harder with my leg?
Hi, my parking brake on my w212 is completely stuck to the floor. Pulling the lever does not release it. Would this help or do you have any ideas? Thank you
I took my Mercedes to mechanic re my hand brake wouldn't release as it kept binging at me when I was driving and I then had to use my foot to release it. I have since pulled and broken the hand release lever. I'm in Australia what was the plastic part u used to release the compartment and was it just a lubricant that you used to get it going again. It will cost me a fortune to get a mechanic to replace it . If is just a bit of lubricant I think I can do that myself. Just need to know what the plastic instrument you used and was it C20 lubricant. I loved the video, I look forward to your reply please. Thankyou Maggie
Hey i pulled the parking brake handle a little to hard on a cold day in my 2014 e63 now it doesn't go back in pops out a little when i try to push it in, what can it be?
Probably “broken” wire. This is a really common issue here because when you driving and stone hits the wire under time is getting small holes etc and water coming in and on cold days is get frozen. Don’t worry to much I would say, I actually don’t use it at all under the winter!
Mine gets stuck on a hot day sometimes I have to push it further in and then release. Other times it gets stuck real bad and I have to wait till it’s cold. Any tips? I’ve had the mechanism for the small clip where the brake cable connects replaced and also new lever
MB212 sure. By the looks of it, it seems like the actual handle itself isn’t cracked or broken, but the adhesive came off. I’ll send you a pic when I can

Really glad to hear you solved it with WD-40! 700$ that’s a lot, did you get any note what they wanted to change?
And that's all the dealer would've done as well. A minute's work and they hit you for $700! Crazy.
This worked perfectly. My parking brake was slow to come up or I had to pull it up with my foot. A few sprays of WD-40 and it now works better than ever. MB212, I wish you still had your car, your videos are super helpful. Thanks!
Had the same issue for several years. Worked perfectly for me, parking brake is like brand new. Thanks❤
Great to hear it worked 👌
This video is 4 years old but saved today for me. I used a bit of "Ballistol" instead of WD40, worked fine as well.
Thanks to your video, I solved the brake problem. I want to remind you that it is stupid to inject any liquid into the steel cable,
This has been an issue on my 2012 C350 for while. I fixed it. Thank you.

Glad it worked out for you. Always good to have the plastic trim tools in the car for things like this, but as you said it worked without them 👍
May I know where to buy the tool

Seems to have fixed mine instantly. 👍
Wow! I have this same exact problem. Thank you.
Sometimes you have to pump the leaver a few times to release if need, just incase you havent the time to get it properly sorted.
I just played with the metal thing and it seems to work. We shall see tomorrow
Thanks bro, u really helped, fantastic video

Love this tutorial. But how do I apply it to my right hand drive E300?
Doesn’t the right hand drive have it on opposite site was sure that’s was the case 🧐
No the foot operation is adjacent to the central tunnel and operated by the left foot.
Interesting had no idea about that, but could not advise how to apply for that kind of setting because I have not any right hand drive car over here to check.

lubricate more😂
