There's a reason someone with the resume that Bab's has was out of the league so long. True or false in this instance, buckle up Jackets fans, this is only the beginning.

The reason he was out of the league for years was cause no one wanted to take any money off of the leafs’ hands. The second that money ran out, he got hired. Just kinda seems like modern athletes can’t handle a tough coach.

So Gaudreau and Jenner have come out to say that this has all been overblown. I'm honestly not sure if they're just trying to smooth things over for the sake of the team or if they're telling the truth. Either way, the only reason this is a thing is because Babcock has done some really nasty and incredibly petty things in the past and those are just the things we've heard about. Maybe he's reformed but he's got a long way to go to show he has actually reformed.

people who've been like that in the past have to prove they are no longer like that, they don't get the benefit of the doubt. The best indications of future behavior is past behavior, and that extends to pretty much everything. The person thats 10 mins early for work every day, if they don't show up i'm thinking something is wrong like a family emergency or maybe they got into an accident. The person thats never on time and is flaky, they don't show up and everyone is asking "how long is (insert boss's name) going to put up with this?"
I fully believe babcock did what they say and Gaudreau and Jenner are saying what they can to not cause drama on the team.

I just think it’s funny that Johnny Hockey left a great hockey town to go play somewhere closer to home, that’s not a good hockey town, that doesn’t have a good hockey team, to play for a worse coach than Sutter, for less money. And he didn’t even move close to home. He could’ve signed with the Devils, and been a great middle-hockey-career-aged mentor to all those young guys on the New Jersey roster, and help develop them. Plus, they actually have good potential in Newark. I expect they’ll be a top contender again this next season. But instead, Johnny chose to play for a worse team with the worst coach. In a worse city that’s farther from home than he could move to, for less money.
I will never understand how fucking stupid all of that is. Does he seriously just want to lose? Did he get tired of playing hard and trying to win? None of it makes any fucking sense, logically and practically. Oh well though, his life choices, his mistakes.

Someone on reddit said what happened, and I think this is the real story: Babs told everyone to submit a photo of what kind of person they are. Then he puts it on a slide show, and then get the person to tell them a bit about themselves, It's an icebreaker thing. Seems like someone just didn't like it and told Biz this and he took it out of proportion.

You bring up a very good point about different players and the different power dynamics that are all at play. For a player like Jenner or Gaudreau or even a veteran, they may have had a conversation similar to what was published by the PR team. For rookies or 4th liners it may have felt more crass or even forced. Like Han indicated in the tweet, maybe for some players it felt conversational but with others it felt more forced and awkward. The truth definitely lies in the middle and the fact that this came out on this podcast and sounded more like Babs basically said, “unlock your phone I’m going to scroll through your photos” made me immediately skeptical of the report. Babs isn’t dumb and knows that he is on thin ice. He knows that stuff is going to be reported out and watched under a microscope and I am sure that he knows that some people are going to be looking to sabotage him as he tries to prove that he’s changed.
As a Red Wings fan, it’s hard to forgive the man but I’m always willing to be proved wrong and see that he has changed.

The fact that the NHL and hockey has a culture of hiding the controversial stuff says enough about how problematic it is.
Feeding promising young men into these systems. It’s no wonder our world suffers when these pidgeons are influencing and have their thumb on so many young leaders.

Great take on the situation. It's wild reading the comments online and media personalities jumping all over Biz as though he made up the whole story. He got it on good authority from a player in the locker room... these are all the same people who said it was absolutely unfathomable that players in Chicago's dressing room "didn't know" so they bullied them for not saying something.
A player said something... and everyone decided it wasn't real because that player felt threatened when it became public. Good work guys. It's not as though Babcock isn't well known for taking revenge on players he doesn't like.

A player in the locker room? His Twitter post claiming this shows the exact opposite. He himself in his own podcast admitted this was all second hand information.
Edit: Also, we have four public statements saying that what happened wasn’t forced or coerced in any way. Jack Han, Boone Jenner, Nazem Kadri, and Johnny Gaudreau have all made public comments about Babcock and the pictures, ranging from it being a positive to non-intrusive.

I am going to believe the players. Specifically I am going to believe Gaudreau and Jenner.
What is a bad take is that in this social media crazy world everyone is hungry for negativity and any rumor that is negative will gain traction because it makes money. If players come forward with allegations, I would believe them, so when players come forward to rebut we should believe them too. Not that it matters much, but if there were anything to this, Gaudreau and Jenner would have taken a much softer stand, or simply not commented.
