When I started working w Stuart 2 years ago I didn’t even carry a driver in my bag as I couldn’t hit it. Today (2/1/23) I shot 81 at my home course off the back tees (6754 yds). Practical advice and great drills that you can take from the studio to the range onto the course and see immediate results. Can’t recommend highly enough - the numbers speak for themselves.
Pascal - it’s been one of my most rewarding journeys to see your game develop. Can not wait to see where 2023 takes us… Thank you so much for your kind words and Happy New Year!
I am new to your channel and I’m finding your content very interesting. Some of your concepts I thought to myself they make sense before and I am so happy to see that I am not a complete idiot. Looking forward to watching more of your videos and hopefully change my game for the better. Thanks I am grateful.
Firstly a huge welcome to the channel, so happy you’ve found me. Golfers invariably think the are “idiots” when they can’t apply the advice, there’s usually a strong reason why you can’t apply the advice. You definitely NOT an idiot! An FYI - I post three times a week, usually Monday/Wednesday/Friday and the weekends are for everyone to catch up on the content. 😊
Absolutely brilliant. Coming back from an ankle reco and felt i had lost my ability to drive a ball. Play off 7 and i was going left and right and had no idea. Watched your vid and now it just clicked. Been driving the ball syraighter than i may have ever done. Cracking stuff.
Pure gem! Worth every bit. May I request you to kindly do a video on adding lead weights to the driver; if one should do so; how to do so; and what to expect? Many thanks!
Hi Sach - thanks for the kind words. Changing club specs and weighting is not my expertise. If you check out Precision Golf’s UA-cam channel you’ll find out lots of information there on club weighting
Great video ,,always been told to keep pulling the handle through and let the head catch up ,,,this really shows that part of the release well ,,,,cheers
Hi Peter - thank you for the wonderful feedback; please look through my channel, I have covered angle of attack several times and especially with irons. Enjoy 😊
Love your videos. Can you make one explaining the different between mid irons and long irons and why people struggle with hitting long irons? I’m struggling with this I have feeling it has to do with attack angle or feeling like since it’s a longer club being more patient in the transition phase.
Beautifully explained - the load and unload phase as well as club head passing the handle. Now for irons, is there a similar thought or we need a negative angle there and the ball position more in the middle of the stance will automatically ensure that club head does not take over the handle until after the ball is struck. Basically the same left wrist action for irons and driver? Appreciate the great advice!
Hey Claudio, exactly right. Ball back meets the angle of attack negatively and if you watch my latest “broom video” in pitching, you’ll gain more insight. Hope that helps!
Great advice this is what I needed and will try as I have always feared closing the face and duck hooking it, so I end up pushing it as you explain. However I do find it’s a fine line with ‘flipping’ creating a snap hook. Can you explain how to avoid this whilst releasing the club face. Great content with all your driver posts … I need them! Thanks from Australia
Hey Adam - big thanks for the lovely feedback. Check out my most recent video on “club release myth” and you’ll have all the answers you need my friend. Let me know how you get on! Best wishes Stuart
Great video 👍🏾 This is exactly what I have been working on at the range for the last 2 months or so, but rather than using the left hand to lead I have been using the right hand to dominate the downswing and feeling like I am pushing with the right hand in order for the clubhead to pass the hands at impact. This stops me flipping the club which is what I was finding when I was using the left hand as the dominant hand in the downswing. (Hope that makes sense 😅)
Makes total sense; make sure you feel the left shoulder sit down as you let the club swing for even more club face stability and head swing speed! Enjoy 😊
It depends if you want a high or a low flightier shot. Make it swing like the driver for a high flighted shot, but don’t expect a divot. Reduce the swing affect for lower ball flights and more divot. Hope that helps. 😊
Gosh absolutely; it’s essential the golfer appreciates the AoA and it’s fluid state from Pitching Wedge to Driver. Ball position does take care of some of it, but the other part must be placed on awareness in the transfer of energy. Hope that helps Best Wishes Stu 😊
It’s a good idea, the only issue is that it would promote a weak grip in both right and left hands, which would be disastrous. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu 😊
Please clarify for me where should the club handle be in relation to my body or golf ball at the transfer point from pulling to releasing for irons and driver. Thanks in advance.
It’s usually around the right leg where the energy transfer should take place, this is also the area where grip pressure get really tight, so if you fail to start with, keep gripping light and keep stopping the handle and use a video camera to see how your doing in your practice swings. HTH 😊
Hey Ant - Depending on the flight a golfer is looking to create will depend on the continued speed of the handle, to create “low” - “medium” or “high” flight characteristics in unison with the ball position and club being used. Driver is far simpler, ball forward, pull hard and let it swing. High flight, low spin and maximum club speed. HTH 😃
Just found your channel. Is the "pull and let clubhead pass the handle" a conscious move or just a feel? It seems like it would involve a lot of timing.
Firstly a massive welcome to the channel ! The golf swing is two levers and it’s absolutely a timing thing, this is absolutely unavoidable. Managing the levers is what I talk about and what goes into it. Take a look through more videos and ask questions along the way. I promise you, your golf is about to improve. Best wishes Stu.
@@GoodGolfCoaching I’ve studied many of your videos. Been golfing about 30 years; this year I have made massive strides and feel the last 3 weeks I have felt very in control of my club face because of the pull move. Is it the same move for driver? I feel like it works best with my irons and fairway woods. Thank you!
Hi mate I tried this today but couldn’t still get positive attack angle. I’ll try again and let you know. Is there any more to it like swing path or is that it? Thanks in advance Cheers Gregg
Hi Gregg - this is a large element to angle of attack; grip, ball position, leg action, wrist angles all play a part too. Check out all my videos on those topics for more insights. Best wishes Stu
Great video! Definitely need to work on this. I'd be interested to see the launch angles with the different tee heights in relation to the attack angles you mention.
@@rogb3199 AoA the same with three different tee heights but identical tee heights would deliver the same launch angles. Attack angle change will change launch, for sure.
I generally just add a little spine angle tilt at address and typically have an AoA for my driver of about 3-4 degrees. While your explanation may be correct it seems to be over complicating it. I think for most amateurs, the simpler the better.
Would be lovely if everything could be simple and work. Sadly, for one person a little spine tilt works, another 9 people hit it more out the heel because of that and blast it right. But, if it works for you, keep with it. 👍👍
@@GoodGolfCoaching Yes, you are right. I did initially push it right and had to learn to release a little more which is now a nice draw. But the miss is a push right.
Hi Stuart. Another corker of a video - thank you ! Right at 5m 47 in this video, "release phase", is an issue with which I'd love to see a detailed video if you have one ? (I'm working my way through your content and so may not yet have discovered the appropriate video). Due to misinterpretation on my part from previous coaching on impact drills, I feel that I do not properly understand how to enable this piece as the "forearms don't rotate / keep the hands ahead / lead wrist bowed at impact" concept is so (incorrectly) ingrained that I'm missing a major power source as well as making my tiny brain think it's got to find that missing power through the arms (spoiler alert - that doesn't, and leads to horrible swings esp. with the big dog !). Thanks in advance for any insights :-)
Sorry, your short answers don't make any sense to me. Maybe you should do another video showing us in slow motion EXACTLY what your wrists are doing at and after impact, if they're not flipping. Otherwise you are just making it extremely confusing for us.
Yes it works but now it is too wristy and flippy that most golfers wouldn't be able to control with any consistency. Get back to Left arm control in the downswing and let centrifugal force do the rest.
