- Join us as we revisit one of our all-time favorite spots for Bak Kut Teh in Penang - Keat Claypot Bak Kut Teh in Air Itam! Our family has cherished the hearty and aromatic flavors of this place for many years, and last weekend, we finally returned to savor their delicious offerings once again.
Bak Kut Teh, or "Meat Bone Tea," is a beloved dish consisting of tender pork ribs simmered in a rich, herbal broth. The version served at Keat is reminiscent of the traditional Klang-style BKT, featuring a dark, aromatic soup packed with herbs and spices, setting it apart from the lighter, peppery Teochew style found in Singapore.
Our dinner was a feast for the senses, with Keat's signature claypot brimming with succulent pork ribs, infused with deep herbal flavors that we couldn't get enough of. Alongside the main dish, we indulged in a variety of side dishes, including fresh vegetables, mushrooms, fish, and savory stewed pork, all perfectly complementing the star of the meal.
The soup was so delicious that I couldn't resist ordering extra rice and ensuring every last drop was savored. The rich, flavorful broth brought back memories of countless family dinners we've enjoyed at Keat over the years, making it a truly special dining experience.
If you're a Bak Kut Teh enthusiast or simply love hearty, flavorful soups, Keat Claypot Bak Kut Teh is a must-visit. Their commitment to quality and authentic flavors has kept us coming back for more, and we're excited to share this gem with you.

Welcome!!! Hope you guys get to try some of these places and tell me what you think. 😄
Woww! Lovely dinner with all the sides plus the dark rich soup.. yumm 😋We don’t have the chopped garlic here. 😀
The kids love BKT actually... I shouldn't eat it so often especially during durian season hahahaha
Looks great and yummy. Keep up the great work.
Best wishes to you and your family.
Thank you so much!!!
Looks incredible
Very kochabi for me, simple & no frills dining. :)
Good morning wah chiak bak kut teh so u must drink leng teh cos that day nose bleeds ha ha😮😊
Actually this was taken over the weekend. I believe the nosebleed happened on Monday!!! So all related!
YUMMY
Can you find this in the Asian supermarkets?
SG is for the soup. MY for the 料. Prefer SG one more for simplicity not too many tastes in soup.
I like the SG one too, especially with the big long pieces of pai kut!!! MY one is more medicinal in taste, and less peppery.
Mr... Be careful of high cholesterol especially the soup... Not so often... 😊
Ya ya thanks brother... I don't eat this often. :)
i like the old school style bak kut teh shop👍
Hehehe the shop looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 70's!
Sorry to say, tried Penang BKT couple of times... honestly most Klang BKT taste much better than Penang's...btw bowl type BKT which most other places dont have other than Klang gives the original BKT taste, the mushrooms, lettuce, etc.in clay pot dilute the original BKT taste... anyway Penang's still better than those so-called Singapore BKT, with tons of pepper ...more of a pepper soup than BKT.
Ya lah, Penang BKT is not as good as Klang ones overall.... but if we live here, sometimes wanna eat, still have to find local ones loh. Every city has their own specialties lah, it isn't so much a competition between the states, but just trying to find what is good nearby. Singapore BKT is actually quite nice to me also, but we cannot compare to local BKT here because even though they have the same name, they are clearly different flavours.
Nice bkt only parking ha ha. Illegal parking at the road side dangerious for other road users
Ya actually can park in the center parking area, entrance from the other side of the road, then use the traffic lights to cross over.
Have you got the address please
Oh I forgot to include this in the description: maps.app.goo.gl/7LRg7Gchw1GAu55S8
Good morning watch out yr health too much eating 😇😇😇
Hahahaha yes... this video was taken over the weekend, now only have time to edit.
where's Issac?
He is sitting next to me! 😀
In the introduction, it shows your face with a bloody nose… Is it because you ate too much durians (too hot)? Maybe after the durians, you should have some « cooling » fruits to balance the ying-yang in your body… I’m just curious. As usual, thank you for sharing your day to day life in Penang. Stay safe and have fun/
P.S: Your beautiful children are grow up so fast.
Hehehehe I was wondering if someone would notice that, I meant it as a joke because I mentioned that the eatery was opposite the "Kheng Hoe Bar" in Air Itam. Kheng Hoe Bar used to be a sleazy pub with women who drank with you for tips. Of course today it no longer operates as such but is a small coffeeshop instead. LOL I am glad you noticed!
Tastes are not consistent, and super expensive now. BKT at weld quay opposite the chew jetty much much better. Cheaper than him.
@@rontan317 Is that the same shop as Monster Wanthan Mee?
@@pishedbloke yes bro
