I have my own twist, chopped Bulgogi like at D'alessandro's with a white cheddar kimichi sauce with onion and grilled chopped Shishito peppers on a deli style sub
Stop lying
Dude has to open up a bulgogi sandwich shop on East Passyunk and call it "Matt's Kang of Steaks."
I see what you did there, WELL PLAYED SIR
+Allen Wing 👍😀
Thanks for watching the return of my show, K-town! I had an amazing time eating my way through Philadelphia, making new friends in the Korean community, and tasting some of the best Korean and Korean-inspired food I've ever had. I hope you enjoy!
mattatouille congrats on your marriage man!
Thank you! You noticed!
Finally tried a version at a sandwich shop. Pleasantly surprised that it was excellent. The key is that the Korean ingredients should be subtle or not be heavy handed. Balance is important
More Matthew Kang please!!!!
Thanks! There's a lot more where this episode came from. Stay tuned!
Im sorry this is my last episode. Eater fire me for being fat.
Oh hey, Kang is still around. Neat

I'll have to make a trip there when the snow is gone.
Story time was cool! Nice edition
That's the best idea I've ever heard.

sinCerity
I started making cheesesteaks with KBBQ meat and Vietnamese baguettes. Topped with American cheese. Best sandwich ever
Philidelphia? Whaaaat??!? 😆
great idea. sounds good
What is weird is that there is a Koja food truck here in SF that has been around for quite some time now (5+ years?). Wondering if its the same family as they do pretty much the same type of food.
Missed you Matthew!!
I'm back! Got a lot more videos coming out too.
I would go 1 step further and french dip it!
waaaaarrrp staaablizzeeeeerrr
philly cheesesteak meat is always ribeye. not an 'off-cut' of any kind.
It's Korean Cheesesteak, son.
korean bulgoki is sliced ribeye. same thing.
I remember their truck being featured in DDD
I think all Korean kids had some kind of food drama growing up. My mom made me a fried egg sandwich as a kid and it smelled and the kids were asking why an egg sandwich for lunch??!! I had no answer!! Lol!!
Have they done the Korean burritos on the west coast?
Kogi Truck. Roy Choi is one of the OG's of Korean Fusion
thegreatcalvinio the best Korean burrito, IMHO, is from Tacorea in SF.
first! notification squad where ya at
koja is freakin awesome! right by Temple! go there if you have the chance!
its screaming for some grilled kimchi and some soy bean paste!
platonic ideal
We have HRD in SF.
What Kind of bread do they use for a cheesesteak?
that moment when you realize that hyung can't even pronounce bulgogi correctly. sigh... korean americans COME ON.
congrats on your marriage Matt kang!
Thanks Paul!
marinated meat > unprocessed meat :D
I am annoyed at myself for not thinking of this idea
Takes a bite of meat - describes it as "meaty".. Wow
more dining on a dime pls
Check out Tacorea in SF
"Korean part makes it bettrr"
that triggerd the Trumper Philadelphians
needs kimchi
When exactly did the Korean food craze begin? I remember when I was a Korean kid growing up all the white people thought our food was gross. I distinctly recall my white friends from school making fun of the kimchee in my house. But lately every food channel on youtube has Korean food on it somewhere.
korean foods doesnt look aesthetic but is unique and very delicious....
anyone else pissed off at the kid and teacher from his story for food shaming him?
cheap? its $13 a cheesesteak lol
KANG!!!! PAY ATTENTION!........
koja... koreans would know what that means
American cheese as in super processed yellow crap?
Arnav Sharma its processed fake cheese but not the square plastic wrapped stuff. it comes white as well. Philly.
"Philidelphia"
wtf is yorktwon its north philly by temple
Philadelphia*
"meaty" is that so? You don't say?
As opposed to fatty.
nah..
An off cut? Sorry pal but in Philly a real cheese steak is made with ribeye. An off cut he says. People just don't know.
Agh! that bothers me. You should be able to eat what you want to eat. People creep up on you because what you're eating and they play it like it smells but they secretly want it.
You know, I just don't like that flavor combination. I like the Asian sweet meat thing (teriyaki, bulgogi, Korean short ribs, whatever) and I like savory cheesesteaks, but I don't like the combo. I've tried the teriyaki burritos with the sweet teriyaki glaze on the beef that's then combined with cheese -- it's not good. And the thing is, I love burritos and I love teriyaki. Similarly, I love cheesesteaks and I love bulgogi, but a cheesesteak does not need a sugary sauce.
What about against a sharp cheddar as like a opposite effect. Fruit/Jams sometimes accompany charcuterie boards. /jw
You know... Ok, I admit, I pair fruit with my cheese plate and just yesterday, I put cherry preserves on my chicken liver pate. Maybe it's that teriyaki and bulgogi are already sweet+savory? I don't know...all I know is that the teriyaki burrito in LA was awful and while I love bulgogi, I just don't like the thought of eating it with cheese. I don't know where I could test this where I live, but I suppose I could go to Subway, order their cheesesteak and have them add their sweet onion teriyaki sauce to it. However, just typing that almost made me gag.
Michael Maybe a different type of cheese instead of American cheese? Something sharp tasting?
I had the spicy cheesesteak and wings yesterday. meh...overrated.
weak ep.
You look like PSY
matt was tolerable in this one....., just barely.
His facial expressions are so disappointing but then he loves the food. I'm getting mixed messages here I'm emotionally unstable and menstrual he's messing with my mind.
Why Korean people cant cones up thier own stuff but copy or immitate ?
Greg Boonie you're so ignorant
Greg Boonie Hahaha clearly you never ate Korean food
Its called Fusion. And please improve on your spelling
Greg Boonie Korean food the most unadulterated foods out there. The reason these fusions are popping up is bc most things taste good when you add garlic, soy sauce, fermented sauces, and spicyness to it.
because koreans knew that you can put anything on a sandwich, tacos, burger. and americans will eat it.
