This was very enjoyable! The acting was natural and storyline was really cute. I LOVED how this wasn't about a guy coming out to his parents or the school. Seems like that has already been resolved with seemingly positive results. It's tiring to constantly hear storylines centering around a teen coming out and facing adversity because of it. It leaves no room for any other story. I wish there could be more of these!

I just want to add my experience about what it was like for me in high school and of course my infatuation with my school mates all the way back to primary school. I was so lost and scared. Hiding my sexuality (high school 1972-1975) was painful. My family for sure could never know if I wanted peace and harmony at the dinner table.
But here's the kicker. All of my best mates, my guy friends, come to find out later, yeah, they were gay too. I never knew until some period after leaving the scene. I had one mate during the entire spectrum from 2nd grade until we were seperated by our parents for cutting classes in high school.
By chance after military service I bumped into this long lost friend and when it materialized one day as we rode in his little Datsun pickup, that he was gay, I was elated. This bestie brought me out of the closet and my world opened up but by then I was a wreck emotionally and struggled with addiction issues and alchol was my escape for years once I was introduced to the effects of the brew and cocktails to follow. Really stupid, so totally destructive and it destroyed many friendships over the ensuing decades.
Worse yet was that my early years of being out was at the height of HIV deaths in the 80's and 90's. I lost too many friends including my soul mate to the disease. I guess I survived not having the desire to have anal activity, who could have known my preference would keep me safe.
Acceptance is so important. From friends to your family. I feel so bad for those who still today struggle with this. Just know that you can survive. Do so though, sans drugs and alcohol. Stay healthy through activity and leave the pocket glass addiction alone, get out of doors and out of the closet as soon as you can.
Be well young men and young adolescents... Live for the good days as there will always be tough days, let them go and be happy.
Edit p.s. Not to belabour the issue here, but I was a chubby laddie and my attention to my physicality in my preteen and pubescent years was poor. Not until I came out did I go on a strict over the top caloric reduction along with physical activity wherein I dropped 30 pounds in about a month, stavation diet way bad thing to do, it led to anoxeia and auto immune problems along with the prolong stress that stemmed from my battle with alcohol and self worth.
So again, keep fit by knowing physical and mental health will be what gives you the best of what you have to live for which is, happiness.

If you are in need of something your love is not unconditioned. Conditioned love is not love. It's sympathy. First you have to care for your own stuff quite well. Diet, sleep, body, mind. Lately, the UA-cam algorithm has been showing me a run of LGBT short films. This one is perhaps my favorite thus far. Though, generationally, I'm far-removed from the high school era, watching Andrew's doe-eyed enchantment with Ricky and his athleticism, feelings soaring with any small gesture of nicety, transports me back to that time, as did his body-image issues, fear of rejection, and feeling like a fish out of water around athletics. Andrew's mom and her nuggets of encouragement were gems, and I'm delighted that the film didn't end in tears of sadness.

Very cute, simple, elegant story, well done by all. I love the contrast between Joelle's skeptical protectiveness (just let it be and then let's get out of this Central Valley hellhole) vs. the grab 'em by the balls lawyer Mom's pushing him to fight and take risks. What differentiates this gay short film from many others is that the kid is surrounded by support from those closest to him; the only thing holding him back is fear of rejection (and a lack of trust in his own Gaydar!). As an aside, I went to high school in the in the 1970's in the Sacramento Valley and was among a handful who managed to escape by going away to college. Gonna guess that this was filmed further south, like outside of Salinas or King City? Again, as someone else said, everyone involve with this project can be proud of their efforts.

If you can get past the fact they are supposed to be in high school, it isn't a bad short film, but the eye-rolling soccer player is more obviously gay than the out guy.

"Finally, a gay film that ends on a positive note?" Hang on, fella. 'Maurice', 1986? Massive congratulations to all those involved with this, and especially for 10'20". This was beautifully shot, perfect music, cracking script. 'Maurice'? Photography, Pierre L'Homme, score Richard Robbins. Screenplay? James Ivory (who got the Oscar, finally, for 'Call Me By Your Name') and ... er, well ... me.

What a cute story. Showing homosexuality as “normal” and not something back in the day!!
The guy’s mother looks like an older Lady Gaga. 😁
