“Manhattan Skyline” from their Scoundrel Days album was my personal anthem on March 11, 1987 when I moved during my junior year of high school and had to say goodbye to all of my friends. My folks wouldn’t let me stay behind & graduate. I was devastated and bitter for months. I’ve been a fan of A-ha for decades. “Cry Wolf” is another favorite. My grandmother on my dad’s side emigrated from Norway with my great-grandmother when she was only 2 years old. I want to travel there to see it before I get too old. ❤️

Christ. I was in a record store in Soho thumbing through their vinyl and came across a pressing of Scoundrel Days. Made me think of you, big man. Seems like just the other day we were crammed into a van and pooling our change to get into a Slayer show. Who would have known what different paths our lives would take.

I always go back to this video when I remember my time with Benny Harvey, he was a good man. RIP
Fucking hell man. I remember the day we lost Benny like it was yesterday. It was disheartening to know that such a good friend of mine had died, yet somehow soothing to know he’d gone to a better place. He played this song to me after an Iron Maiden Concert in the mid 2000s. He told me that his mate played this to him a day prior. We sat for a solid 30 minutes asking ourselves “How is this a-ha?”, and “can I believe anything anymore?”. What a fucking night.
I was with him the moment he passed. His very last words were “How the actual fuck was that a-ha?”. He flatlined after that. I proceeded to cry for the next half an hour, and began to shout “I don’t know Benny! I don’t know!!”. It was a truly sad day for us all.

I came here cause my friend, Benji - as I used to affectionately call him - absolutely loved this song. He always dreamed of visiting New York, especially Manhattan. He once said this song perfectly encapsulates his feelings towards NY city, and the fact that he's never gonna actually see it in person. He was a melancholic fella, to be honest. Music like this didn't really do him much good, only brought him down in the end...but whenever I hear this song on the radio, usually on my way to work, I can't help but smile as I remember him headbanging to the chorus of his song....
You'll always be missed, and know that the Harvey family will never be whole again without you.

They have some real bangers, like Take on Me, Manhattan Skyline, The Sun Always Shines on TV, Hunting High and Low, I’ve Been Losing You, The Living Daylights, Cry Wolf, and Blue Sky, not to mention all the remixes and the MTV unplugged album.

This band were so ahead of their time in the 80's. The production is exceptionally clear and crisp you can hear every single instrument and vocal, this song still sounds infinitely better than any of the pop music made in the 90's right to the crap that's being produced today.!
