The 80's were magical! The early years were dominated by Synth Pop and British artists, Disco and punk holdovers, and some Country, mid 80's had American pop, R & B, Funk, and movie soundtracks, and late 80's had New Jack Swing, Rap, Heavy Metal, and when Roxette debuted they had this completely original sound. We listened to and loved everything!
I've lived through the 50's ,60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, '00's, teen's and more. The 80's was the most fun, innovative music. I listen to everything but when I want to feel really good I turn to the 80's...
@@ayadav77 I was an 80s teen and it was fun and so varied. But the 60s were truly innovative. Society and music really started to change. They weren’t following, they were leading. Really broke away from their parents in so many ways. I know there were early innovators before them, but it seems the 60s really pushed ahead.
WOW. You are a lucky girl! I didn't even see her for the first time until a few weeks ago( I was busy with raising kids in the '80's & missed the video for "The Look" and "Listen To Your Heart" until now. ) My heart is broken knowing she left the planet. I guess she'll always be an Angel for me. Now I know when I drag my sorry ass through that lighted doorway, SHE"LL be on the other side. RIP isn't good enough from me. I'm going to pay her a tribute from my heart and what is left of my soul. Look for "Marie Fredrickson Tribute by Nic Bonesteel. Have a tissue box beside you. @@sylvia9519 Thank you for the tip. I will have my 12 year old daughter use her smartphone so I can hear Marie in those two languages.. Her voice is out of this world. I'm really looking forward to seeing her when I finally drag my broken rusted soul through that lighted doorway. My path has not been an easy one. 59, homeless and sleeping in my car. No friends, no family( except my only light in the darkness, my daughter ), no job, court cases with false charges hanging over me prevent employment. No smartphone( do not desire one ), no government assistance and no social media. Faith and music are the only things that allow me to take another step. This is the only forum I trust, because it's music based. I am not your average homeless dude. As far as i know, my credit score is still over 800. I can pretty much go out on a limb and say; I'm the only homeless person on the planet with a Hot Wheels 1995 Treasure Hunt '67 Camaro. it currently sells on eBay for $1000 & up. I'm not going to sell it. It will go on the wall in my house, or to my daughter if I go Home sooner than expected. Even with this much of a load, I am still able to look and appreciate beauty and function. I always try to use Grace to get through this Hell on Earth. I'm really sorry to blah, blah, blah.
Hello everyone from Russia !!)) I've been listening to their songs since the 90s .... and I will listen while I'm alive !!)) It's a pity that Marie died! ((Rest in peace .....Legends never die!!!
All of this thanks to a foreign exchange student from Minnesota who was in Sweden and heard this song, He brought the album back and gave to Minneapolis Top 40 Station KDWB who played the look and was soon getting requests for the single from other stations. They gave it to other stations so without a record contract or official single in the US Roxette was getting significant air play. They were eventually signed to an American Distribution deal and this single was OFFICIALLY released and became a major hit. All thanks to one person and a Minneapolis(which is not where major hits generally break) radio station.
AND KDWB being the the CHR(Top 40) station in Minneapolis. In general Minneapolis does not break many hit songs. That is Usually done in New York and LA along with Chicago on occasion
It is an interesting factoid, considering that the Scandinavian population in Minnesota is huge. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Dean Cushman himself has Swedish ancestry, even though Cushman is not a Scandinavian name.
This classic is like wine. The older she is, the more mature she is. Even if Roxette is no more, their classics, including this one, will still be here.

Roxette then, Roxette now, Roxette forever!!! I can still remember the first time I heard this song on the radio, fell in love INSTANTLY with the band. To this day I still keep my entire Roxette album collection on my phone so I can listen to them wherever I go. Per you are a pop music GENIOUS who should get way more recognition and Marie had the voice of an angel. The perfect musical duo. I miss them so much. Rest in Peace Marie 💔
I love this song, but it came out during a bad time in my marriage. So, when I hear this great song, I get a slight ache in my heart. That was such a bad time. Thank you, Marie, for the great songs you created for us.

Theres another song that sounds just like this, been in my head for a LONG time now if anyone knows?
@@OutlawEST1987 joyride peut t'être j'adore aussi de roxette
This song reminds me of days with my mom when I was little. It makes me cry because it was simpler times but I’m grateful for those times.
Im a total metalhead most of the time, but this song and "Joyride" are always welcome on any of my music playlists. I was fortunate enough to grow up with jems like this.
I'm the same. From gnr, Metallica, Deff Leppard etc. But Roxette always bring a smile to my face
FKN A!!!! Been saying the same thing since those songs came out!!! lol

She died of a brain tumor. She was also diagnosed with a malignant tumor in 2002. May she rest in peace.
She's now singing up there... i am sure she'll continue... her music will never die...ilove her..
I can't believe that such songs used to be on the charts and you could listen to them every day on every radio station. Plus, MTV was your usual go-to TV station if you also liked music videos. Jesus, what happened to music over the last 30+ years? F***, I'm old ;/
As our parents would say "60s were the greatest era" now or 60s was the 90s. The 90s was the greatest era.
yup. it was simpler then. Cell phones changed everything. it was really great
In memory of Marie Fredriksson...
I remember the first time I saw the look music video in 1990.I couldn't take my eyes off the music video when I saw it at the Seoul Chong-ro bookstore record Corner. She also visited Korea and appeared on a radio music program. She was a beautiful and wonderful singer.
ROXETTE!!!! This Band was, is and will be one of the BEST Bands of the 90`s EVER!!!! Absolutly legendary!!!! First time hearing Savage Garden’s song “I Want You” in 1997 I thought Roxette had come out with a new single. Love this group!
Came here to say this. I'm glad I wasn't alone.
I wish someone would do a mashup of that...
I am so sorry but first time I heard you was from a copied cassette from Polish market.
My sister brought it home and I was .. just astonished.
She was 5 yrs older then me and when she went to school, I "borrowed" the cassette and just ... enjoyed it. I was like 9 yrs old.
Roxette is the greatest pop-rock band ever.
A lot of memories with their music and their records... RIP Marie💔😥
U know now I remember these guys were THE stars. Roxette, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Cranberries, Guns n'roses, classic Metallica.
What u have nowdays are not even close.
+gagnashdiak x IT CAN'T "just be ME"!! WHY on God's green EARTH does music SUCK so BADLY these days?!?! It's like rocking suddenly became uncool. God forbid!! smh...

There ARE good music, but they are far from the fame - even if they are famous at all - like the pre-'90s era.
Nowdays pretty much the only big name is Miley Cyrus. But the age of heroes passed.
Unless you count onehit wonders like Gangnam Style.
PS: some GOOD names of today:
- Maximum the Hormone
- Die Antwoord
- Lindsey Stirling
- Babymetal
- The Pretty Reckless
***** Guns n Roses, Megadeth, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, etc... That's my AGE OF HEROES. My Dave n David signed Rust In Peace CD jacket is my favorite thing EVER, lol!!! XD
Thanks for the heads up on new shit. I hope I can bring my pessimistic ass to check them out...
+Clayton Mallinson
Lindsey Stirling is worth it - I don't know about the others.
Jesus Christ people can't watch a music video without complaining about how music will never be as good as it used to.
holy crap flashback...first cd I ever bought on my own, to play on the anti-skip (not so much) portable CD player. Mad respect.
It was April 1989, I was pealing potatoes in the kitchen and heard this hearth warming rhythm on the radio. Never forget!
Eran hermanos..

Best world femenine Voice !!!
How did she die?
R. I. P. best of the best. She left behind the greatest treasure a human could. Her music is the symbol of clean heart and lighted soul.
Deine Stimme war mein Begleiter in meiner Jugend. Mögest du in Frieden ruhen.

I've lived through the 50's ,60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, '00's, teen's and more. The 80's was the most fun, innovative music. I listen to everything but when I want to feel really good I turn to the 80's...
Decade during 1970-2000s times also were gold and pure as 80s
so, since i lived through the 70's onward, does it mean i didn't miss anything relevant? :-)
Fun, OK. Innovative, nothing compares with the 60's. Mathematically proven to have the most depth and novelty.
Same here.
Mi favorita de Roxette, descanse en paz.

Marie is still the most beautiful and amazing woman ever. I was lucky to see her performing live with Roxette twice.
My 12 year old daughter is gonna help me make it later today.
@Nic Bonesteel: Try her songs in Spanish or Swedish. Her voice is out of this world.
I'm really sorry to blah,blah,blah.
Hold your head up high, @Nic Bonesteel. Music helps through all kinds of hardness. You, too, will see better days.

Поддерживаю! Total agree!
+John Paulson Hey - thanks for sharing! You got the look!
Colspex when you work in music radio you hear about these stories and file them because you never know when you might use then.
Skillet is pretty good
AND KDWB being the the CHR(Top 40) station in Minneapolis.
LA LA LA LA LA!!!
Rockin' song. Loved it then and now. The beat, the 🎸 guitar, synth, and their vocals sizzle.
Как же я их люблю💥❤💥!)) Мэри, хоть и не с нами здесь, её голос в моей душе и в памяти 🤘!!!))
