Agreed. On another guy this whole outfit would look ridiculous, and like he was a gay Edgar Allen Poe or something, but Gary Oldman definitely pulls it off. Still, Sirius really needs to stop raiding his cousin in law's closet.
Back in the day I remember seeing he would be Dracula and I was against him. I was so very wrong...he played the part with genius and absolute lovable charm❤️
Gary Oldman is an acting treasure. I love how Mina's clothing stands out against all the drab, neutral outfits on the street. Only she is wearing a bright color, and green is the color of life and renewal and hope.
Gary Oldman played Dracula to perfection. What woman wouldn’t have succumbed to that Prince? ‘I’ve crossed oceans of time for you.’ He’s the best part of this movie. It’s worth hearing Keanu’s English accent, for sure. 😂🖤
I loved this version of Dracula, he started out much like he was described in the book and slowly became handsome throughout to attract the woman he fancied. Something about a predator such as a vampire having that sort of ability makes them even scarier, not to mention how romantically deceiving he can be.
He wasn't deceiving. She was the reincarnation of his long-dead wife and he truly loved her. He had her kill him in the end so she wouldn't have to endure living forever and seeing her everyone she loves die. I feel like this is as much a love story as it is a horror flick.
I love how the first moments of this scene are similar to how films looked during that time: choppy & fast paced, almost like the scene isn't of much importance... but the moment he finds Mina, it immediately transitions to today's clear crisp video quality, as if the main character/heroine has appeared. It's deeply poetic, and a very nice touch to give insight about how much he valued and cherished her. She was the one who gave him meaning to life, and he could finally *live* again now that he'd finally found her after 'crossing oceans of time'. Gary Oldman, the writer of the book Bram Stoker, and the talented film crew/cast are amazing for putting together this masterpiece. Will never, ever get tired of watching this great film.
The fast pace of old films has more to do with the standardized pace of films of the late 30's to now. The standard speed for film now adays is 24 frames per second. The frame speed of the older films, were more like 16 or 18 frames per second. But when they were re-played in the later age, they were shown at the standard speed of modern projectors of 24 frames a second. This would mean on the modern projectors a second of viewing would show what had been filmed for 1.33 to 1.5 seconds of real time.
Yes, I absolutely love how the director plays with the frame rates. It starts off with a slow frame rate. Then, when Mina appears the frame rate jumps to a higher speed.
no. the point here is to ask, why is a vampire with no reflection and/or a disinclination towards silver, able to be captured on camera by film, the which whose mechanism is dependent upon the chemical development of silver halides exposed to light.
The choppiness or emulation of silent movies was to convey how he as a vampire saw the world in daylight. Not his favourite or easy time of day...but when he sees her, his view is clarified and concentrated...
I can say with so shame at all... I love and find Gary Oldman so bloody hot in this film. He managed to make this role really deep and romantic and at that same time dark and sad.
Perfectly said. It took me years to get over this film. The second best Dracula was Jonathan Rhys Meyer’s but the rest of the cast and the script didn’t do him justice. I still get a tingle over Gary Oldmans portrayal.
This movie was so haunting and sexy at the same time. He done all of that because he loved his wife so much. Couldn’t kill himself he would go to hell but didn’t want to be alive either. To have someone love you that much that they’ll do and be anything. Obsession? Lost? Seeing Mina he must of felt like he was alive again. Wouldn’t you do anything for true love?
Yes I’ve seen this movie at least 10 times, I own it, and I see different things in it every time, the only complaint I have is Keanu wasn’t that great in it but his acting has gotten way better with time.
One of his vampire powers is seduction if a guy tired that in person that isn't attractive he would be up for harassment unless he was an attractive man that she found of high value like this man a prince.
I can't help it no matter how I've tried through the years, this man gives me the craziest feels of my life especially in this sequence, he's an actor like no other.
It still irks me a little that he has never been hired to play James Bond. He'd do very well in that role. I also loved his performance as a corrupt cop in "Romeo is bleeding."
when he stops in the middle of the street to say "see me" to use his power and draw her attention was my favorite part of the movie! "love remembered" by Wojciech Kilar was an excellent song choice as well.
But the subtle reminder of not being fooled by his gentlemanly nature was how Drac's reflection didn't show while he purchased the newspaper from the paperboy.

It’s weird but women have a sense when they are being stared at. I heard about this and tried it out. I was in my car and started staring at a girl standing on the corner facing the other direction. She turned around and made direct eye contact with me. I tested this out again with a bartender friend. We started staring at a female server and she turned around and made eye contact with us. It’s freaky.
@@dinoflagella4185 Well, yes, everyone has the ability to sense when you are being stared at. There's some debate on how it works. Things like magnetic fields, the hairs on the back of your neck, and such.
Of all the roles Gary Oldman played, Dracula is definitely one of his best roles. It just shows how much range and a huge portfolio he has as an actor. Also is pretty ironic that Gary played Sirius Black and Winona played Joyce in Stranger things because both Christmas lights and a wolf appear during the cinematograph scene. Still, remarkable movie! ♥️
Funny enough Gary was offered Edward Scissorhands but turned it down because he didn’t understand it. So would have been the second film they did together.
I fell In love with Gary oldman when I watched this film . So protective of her the way he puts his hand on her back. And he crossed oceans of time to find her .

@@GreenClassified I don’t even mind Keanu Reeves. Despite a few awkward moments with the accent, he conveys all the emotions well for the scenarios he’s in, especially when he’s in the train with Mina trying to give her hope as she’s slipping away like Arwen and Frodo.
@@lukasmiller486 i agree, when I first watched this movie on the big screen, Keanu to me was an awkward and shy character, the critics tell me its because he can't act, lol ok whatever, thankfully they can't tell me what I must like and hate, Francis Ford is such a skilled director he would never have allowed Keanu to completely ruin his movie.
@@lukasmiller486 Keanu is terribly miscast. Other than him, I have very few criticisms of this film. I'd say it's the best Dracula film ever made, and the most accurate to the book for sure.
Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors of all time- so versitile. I always thought this was his best film until I watched Churchill.....he was magnificent in that role!
Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder are just ❤️❤️❤️ I love how she kissed him at the SAGAwards 2018 after his win. I was like daaaaamn y'all need to make another movie together!! 😍
I love the way he says " a woman so beautiful and intelligent should not be walking the streets without her gentleman" that's called old fashioned but my 81 year old dad always walks me to the inside,I asked why he says that your clothes don't get dirty with rain and traffic, also so other men know you're with me. aaaa bless him my hero buff.💋 Neat.
I love the "effect" of him walking through London, this very old style of footage like the one they see at the cinematograph, it almost indicates that Dracula is truly connected to Cinema in his prior. I even love the reaction he has for living in civilty after all this time in a decrepit and old castle, like the old that meets the new and enjoys it, and in the opposite, Mina doesn't like the "cience" of cinematograph even though she is living in that time. It is so wonderful, and what we can say about Gary in this look? Although he is a tough british man, he perfectly acts the part of a foreign that meets a new world for him. He is one of the few that can perfectly act with different accents, and always gets the job done and in the best way possible. It was the perfect choice for his version of Dracula, both evil and in pain, creepy and charmy, suffering a miserable life even if having the powers of darkness and three beauties as wives. I wished to see this Dracula in a classic version of the character, but I think it was a total different thing, everything of this movie has been made to get the final result
The film is a failed attempt to imitate Persephone and Hades. I'm happy with the new adaptation of Nosferatu, it will erase these nonsense that the weak Coppola inserted into the film. He's the one who ruined The Godfather in the second and third films.
My favourite film, Gary Oldman as Dracula is so charming “take me away from all this death”! What would you do for someone that loved you that much hey? He is such a God and a iconic actor. 👏
Gary should have gotten an Oscar for this portrayal. And he was so beautiful. His portrayal was sensual. But adding young Winona and Keanu killed the levity in this movie. I would have added more skilled seasoned actors for their parts to support Gary's portrayal.
While holding his hat off his head, and saying, “I’m a prince and also I am your servant”. What a player move.

A real masterpiece....Mina is splendid!❤️🌹🇮🇹🇬🇧🇺🇸
I feel intoxicated with this movie right after I watched the first time.
I then went and bought it and I've watched it probably 100 times or more. This sence I knew I had to get me a pair of those glasses.
I have always loved the way that everything slows down around Dracula when Mina walks by. It's a true testememt on how ones whole worldview changes when you meet the one you love!😊
Critics dogged this movie but I loved it. Purchased as well. Gary Oldman is a great actor
This movie was beautifully and lovingly crafted, the sets, costume design, direction, acting. Definitely on my list as memorable, F the critics 👍
@@thenewapelles6448i agree, he really wasn't ready or cast well for this movie.
What person wouldn’t want to be yearned for like that. That is the most beautiful, gracefully acted scene I have ever watched.
For most men..
The "See me now!" Dracula's Power
is on the top of list
This movie was perfection, Gary Goldman and Anthony Hopkins did it for me 😍
Love this film
Absolutely love the clothes
She looks magnificent in this scene
I LOVE GARY OLDMAN BECAUSE HE IS SO INTENSE. WONDERFUL ❤️
Great scene Gary deserved an Oscar for his role in this movie!
Best musical score in a movie!!
By Wojciech Kilar, a Polish composer.
WHOA! Its the man himself, and he's grown young bro!
This is my favorite love story!!! And Annie Lennox doing the last song at the end just made the ending!.
Exquisite detail.
The only movie I ever bought on disc for the extras, deleted scenes, etc.
A brilliant work of art.
This scene was so romantic, she's mesmerised by him from the get go ❤
Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors of all time- so versitile. I always thought this was his best film until I watched Churchill.....he was magnificent in that role!
This will forever be my favorite love story.
Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder are just ❤️❤️❤️
I love how she kissed him at the SAGAwards 2018 after his win. I was like daaaaamn y'all need to make another movie together!! 😍
This was the best role for Gary Oldman. Fantastic performance!👏👏👏👏👏
Huge crush when I saw this in the theater (and then on video) . Oh, gosh, Gary.
I'm Forever in love with this scene!
I think every lady wants to be looked at the same way Dracula looks at Mina🥰…Am I right girls??😍😍😍
Yeeesss😍😍😍😍
Yep!
With a romance like Gomez and Morticia's
Gary Oldman. So unbelievably talented. I can picture his Stansfield character when he screams
“E V E R Y O N E” !!!!
I remember when I first saw this film, I thought it was SO AMAZING~! Francis Ford Coppola is a genius director
This was imo the best Dracula film ever made and I dont think it will ever be matched.
@@Penelope-xx5pq you're serious? That worries me
@@Penelope-xx5pq the Godfather II is better than the first one (to me, and not only)
i was 12 years old when i watched this scenes, gave me THE BIGEST GOOSEBUMPS of my life, dont know how to explain it, winona forever
My favourite film, Gary Oldman as Dracula is so charming “take me away from all this death”! What would you do for someone that loved you that much hey? He is such a God and a iconic actor. 👏
I’m awed by the expressions of Dracula & Mina
Gary should have gotten an Oscar for this portrayal. And he was so beautiful. His portrayal was sensual.
But adding young Winona and Keanu killed the levity in this movie. I would have added more skilled seasoned actors for their parts to support Gary's portrayal.
Winona Ryder was amazing in this role. She was the IT girl back then, she worked even for Martin Scorsese the following year.
Is it just me, or did he have a little bit of swag as he was walking away with her? LOL
this is probably one of the best scenes i've seen in a long time
I have no words to describe the sexiness of Gary Oldman in this scene.
I love this film & I envy every actor who played in it
The most romantic story of the ages. I love it.
One of the sexiest scene in cinematic history. The music. Gary. Ugh
Gary was perfect!!!
Oh my he looks just devine here !!!❣️
He's perfect as a romantic lead!!!
