    To think Lestat spent weeks in the Mississippi feeding on whatever he could find only brought him half way healed enough to attack them is really unsettling.

      I think in most vampire lore, while they can feed on any creatures, human blood is the most nutritious for them
      Which makes sense since it's supposed to be a curse and you can't just kill one chicken a week a be hunky-dory

    Listen to the words and how good the writing not only for the books, but in the movie (unlike what became of Queen of the Damned) as well. Tom Cruise, despite objections from Anne Rice originally, did a great job as Lestat but all the cast did a great job with the writing that was given their characters.

    • @brettzforeman
      @brettzforeman 2 місяці тому +1

      Disagree. Tom Cruise might be very fun to watch in isolated UA-cam clips, but he's a manically selfish actor who sucks all of the oxygen out of every film he's in. He has no generosity for anybody in a scene with him, and it's ultimately grating to watch more than 10-20 minutes of the Tom Cruise Show. The books were built on a wide cast of interesting characters, but this film was compromised enormously to sate Cruise's ego. It would have probably been better without him, even if a worse actor had shared the screen better.

    I love how Lestat builds the sense of menace as he's speaking. When he first starts speaking, he almost sounds tired, but then (after he hears Claudia speak), he gets riled up and is practically spitting out his words. By the time he tells Claudia she's a naughty little girl, his tone is hair raising and Claudia (who does scare easily) is legit terrified of him. The first time I saw this movie, when he said the line and held that cord on the piano, I was like "crap she'd better run."

      I'm really disappointed by it. When I heard there was a series I got really excited for it, but it became clear very quickly that it wasn't what I wanted it to be. Really a shame considering how many damned books they have to draw on for it. They could keep it going for ages.

Plus, I very much want to see a fully realized version ofAkasha. I also have to get past them fast forwarding the timeline to the 20s. That’s the only issue I take with the series.
