Gotchas are fun but after working on a pier for a while straw rigs or mackerel tree rigs produce more fish when the bit is hot. Still use gotchas to locate the fish but then quickly turn to straw jig rigs
@@Gio-nl7eg If you choose not to believe that’s fine by me, as I know what’s I said is the truth. I have nothing to prove to you. I fish #15 braid connected by either a FG or Crazy Alberto knot to a 6’ length of #20 flurocarbon leader (sometimes #25) on a 7’ GLoomis E6X 844S rod with a Diawa Saltist Back Bay 4000 reel. It’s my go to set up for Bonito, false albacore (Little Tunny) & spanish mackerel. Caught them all from both the land and boat without a bite off.
Nonsense if there are fish in the area they will attack if there are no fish in the area no matter where you throw and no matter what you put you will not catch any fish it all depends on whether there are fish or no fish Good day

Great video-- and very encouraging because it highlights my favorite way to fish. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great fish...love catching these. Landed one on a zara spook Jr yesterday in Matlacha pass.
I’ve been using #20 & #25 leader for spanish macs here in NJ the past 2 years and haven’t had any bite offs.
I don’t believe it

@@Skolmann you should buy a lotto ticket because there’s no way a Spanish doesn’t bite through that in 2 years unless you barely fish
@@Gio-nl7eg I fish 2-3 times a week...you don’t believe me, come fish with me...I change leaders every time I go.
@@Gio-nl7eg I've caught spanish mackerel on 20 lb fluro leader up in NJ as well. Never had them bite me off either.
Just started fishing for them and great tips
