One of the greatest songs of disco ever. I am 71 and this song by Sheryl Lee Ralph stills makes the hair on my neck stand with such excitement. Truly magic!!!
Yep, her appearance on "The View" brought me here too. I already knew that she was a singer (she was the original Deena Jones in "Dreamgirls") but I never knew that she released an album
Since I heard this song on the view I have goggle it about 20 times and counting I love it so much I call Sheryl Lee Ralph chocolate gold so happy for her success.❤❤❤ 3:59
What an amazing trigger, to hear this last Friday night in Amsterdam and remembering it as a kid in the US when first released way back. The even bigger surprise was that Sheryl Lee Ralph did this, who I remember from “It’s a Living” and who’s now done so well with her recent Emmy win. A great song from a beautiful and extremely talented thespian.
I just saw Sheryl Lee Ralph on the view this morning and had no idea she was the one that sang this song in the 80s that i listened to so much and went straight to look for it again , great song 🎶🕺😁👍
One of those records I've never stopped playing since I bought the 12" in 1984. Can't remember if I first heard it at Oliver's in Chester, or Stuffed Olives in Manchester.
OMG! I haven't heard this song since 1984. I remember it playing in Washington D.C clubs, Badlands, Tracks DC, Lost and Found, Rascals and The Frat House. It still makes me want to Dance all over again! I love it. ❤️
@@chrisclarke7828 A lot of music gets forgotten, sometimes people cant remember lyrics or artists names etc so they have no way to find them , i grew up in the 80s and recently i found a song on UA-cam i hadn't heard since i was a teenager, nothing to do with a coma, too many songs to remember.
I’m here from her Essence interview with Jackee. I had no idea this even existed. It sounds amazing!! This woman wasn’t aged at all. She’s so beautiful!! 🔥
I was there when they filmed the scene in Times Square where they was dancing on a high up stage. She was so nice N sweet when I met her in that red dress ❤❤
Hearing this song, I'm now wishing they included this song in an episode of "It's a Living" when she was on that show and have her character (Ginger) sing it, given they've done many musical numbers on that show....
Takes me back to the Trocadero after hour dance club in SF. That’s where all the serious club ppl. ended up after all the other clubs closed at 2am. Everyone dashed to the dance floor when this came on and the only club in the mid 80s that played this song in SF. Of course I hunted down this record soon after hearing.
Congrats for winning the Emmy and you deserve it Sheryl! Glad also your on a great tv show. You’ve come a long way and I’ve been a fan of yours since you made this wonderful hit!
This tune is my ALL-TIME favourite. It had so much meaning for me in the 80's and still does today. Thanks so much for posting a great clear version of this film clip, all the others that have been posted in the past have a 1/2 second delay between vocals and image. DM.

She just slayed at Super Bowl 2023. Had to come over here too.
Dafaq took them so long
@@indyman000 She hadn't done anything Emmy worthy until Abbott Elementary, and even then, she didn't deserve to win for the show's first season.

AFTER 38 YEARS i found this song in Spotify, what a remember , LOVE the 80'
Igual amamos a los años 80´s, esa época es insuperable, lo máximo del disco,
y lo más triste es que no volverá jamás.
Got the 12” right after I first heard it in a club in San Francisco in the early 80’s, when this first came out.
creo que estoy en ese mismo limite de tiempo hoy 26/08/2024 escucho esta cancion y regrese en el tiempo hasta el año 84
Such an awesome song I remember this being such a big hit in the clubs she was awesome
