I am happy that you visited the American cemetery in Cambridge. We will never forget the contribution of the USA to restoring freedom across Europe. We will always honour those who gave their lives for a land far from home. I fully understand your trepidation, when contemplating a return to your home. I presume that you also had a similar feeling about moving to the UK. Given your strong and close family, you will be just fine. Please keep a small portion of your heart for the UK. I love your UK story and am looking forward to your USA story, if you have the time and energy to share it with us.
We didn't restore freedom across Europe! Half of Eastern Europe was under the Soviet communist yoke for 50 yrs. This mindless cliché of 'freedom', people throw around casually without thinking! History, lad! History!
It was such an honor to get to visit and page our respects. So many big feelings. The UK will always hold a special place in our hearts. We love this beautiful country! Thank you for all the love and support. We can't wait to share more of our adventures with you all. 🤍 Jess x
Back when I was a London bus driver in the days of crew operated buses the point inspectors gave the crews a reminder to pull over at 10:59 on the 11th and turn the engine off until 11:02, some passengers made rude hand gestures upon alighting if running late. Other traffic was often unimpressed if a busy narrow street and not at a bus stop. Running to time was often impossible unless very early morning or late evening.
Good luck to you all. We have enjoyed your British journey and your lovely family's discoveries in our little country. Retirement is a bit scary but I think with new eyes you will make a great life back in the US. We will miss your energy and optimistic views while you have been living here and wish you every happiness for the future. We will enjoy seeing your current adventures while you're still here and hopefully watch your new life with hope that life goes from strength to strength. Look forward to meeting all your new animals and seeing the lovely flowers you will be growing. You will always be welcome back here if it doesn't work out, but I am sure you have family back in the States that will look after you with love ❤
Thank you for the kind words. We have enjoyed our time here as well and plan on still getting to as much as we can before we depart. We are also glad to hear that you will be sticking around as we transition. We are looking forward to it and are honored that we can bring it to all of you. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris 🎉. 21 years of service, well done my friend 👍. It’s always an honour serving your country! Enjoy retirement, buddy. You’ve earned it. New phase of your life when it’s just about you and Jess ❤
Anyone who came this far to keep us all free deserve every respect we can give. I know it was for the world and so includes the USA, but regardless, they came and saved us. Thank God You should see the JFK memorial. A piece of land GIVEN to the USA 'forever', a piece of land that overlooks the spot where Magna Carta was signed. It's a beautiful memorial and every part of it symbolises something. Hey.... I've just thought... give birth there and the kid would be American.. that's a truly disturbing thought 😂 From an ex British soldier, lucky enough to have never seen war, I thank all American forces. Family! I hope we all begin making extra effort to house and feed our veterans. Including police and firemen. Let us all bear this in mind.... Poor is the land that has no heroes But Poor still is the land that has heroes AND FORGETS 😢 ❤ from Northeast England ❤️
That is a great way to put it. We have talked about the JFK memorial. We might end up checking that one off. Also, we couldn't agree with you more on the fact that we need to keep making the extra effort. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday, Chris. And may I add my gratitude to all those Americans who paid the ultimate price in the Allied effort to defeat a common enemy. It’s sad that this effort isn’t appreciated more. But as years go by, memories fade, and sadly veterans pass away. I always ensure that my children are very aware of the lives lost so far from home. 😢 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Friend, we feel you and were honored to go and pay our respects. We were so glad that you all recommended we go and visit. What a beautiful cemetery your country has put together for all those American soldiers who never made it home. We will not let them be forgotten. Thank you for the birthday wishes! Cheers, Chris
Belated Happy Birthday, Chris! At least next year, you should be able to enjoy it with your family, from what you say? And well-deserved too, after 21 years of proudly serving your country. American military cemeteries, like their British equivalents, are always immaculately and respectfully maintained and cared for, from the several we have had the honour of attending in the UK and Normandy and in the US. And rightly so. British and Commonwealth ones always seem a little more understated than the US ones - I guess reflecting our national character? - but paying respects at any is so humbling an experience. And seeing SO many from so many nationalities represented at the Commonwealth ones is another humbling, massive eye-opener. Every US military cemetery we have had the privilege of visiting, has always left a deep and lasting impression on us. Paying our respects at both Colleville-sur-Mer (US) and Bayeaux (Commonwealth), one early June a couple of decades ago, was so humbling. But the most moving experience of all perhaps was at Fort Rosecrans naval cemetery, San Diego. Seeing the many, many - SO many - acres of immaculate white memorial crosses overlooking the now-peaceful, calm, sapphire Pacific, we could neither of us stop crying at the stark contrast of the visualisation of the many, many thousands of (mostly) young men who gave everything for their country. They, and the masses of their fellows interred or commemorated in US and Commonwealth memorials around the globe (including five Commonwealth War Graves in our village), bow to no-one. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them. Very wise to avoid politics! The US seems to me to have become so awfully polarised now. No longer any tolerance for other POV. No longer any objectivism. No longer being prepared to LISTEN! But its becoming the same here. So bloody sad. And scary. At least you have seen the world outside of the US; so many others have not. Your returning to Michigan will be our loss here. I am sure all of us on here will miss you. But will keep following you - can't WAIT to see you covering places in the US in the detail and depth you do here. If you can find ways to walk the places! But you are going home; and I am sure you lovely, lovely genuine, honest people, you honorary Brits now, will do just fine!
Adrian, Chris asked me to tell you thank you for the birthday wishes! He did have a lovely day visiting the cemetery and paying our respects. I agree that it truly is a humbling experience. I have had the honor of visiting Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. That was also a very moving experience for me. We honor and remember our men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country's. Chris and I definitely want to stay away from politics because we only want to spread love and appreciate for everyone and this beautiful country's we have called home. We're so thankful that you all understand. We hope the US can come together with love and respect for other for having different options. We will be so incredibly sad to leave but expected for our next chapter, whatever it looks like. We want to show you places we love and maybe even places that get overlooked when planning a trip to visit the US. We love and appreciate you all so much! Thanks 🤍 Jess & family x
Happy Birthday!!!! Good luck for your future retirement. I was born and raised in England and have lived in America for a little over 20 years. I used to like living here but now, if it were possible for me to move back to England, I would be on the next plane back.
Happy Belated Birthday to Chris - hope you enjoyed celebrating. WIshing you all well and that you make the most of your remaining time here in the UK. Great you have some time to plan and research, and ready yourselves for your next chapter. I'll happily be tuning in and watching (and supporting) your progress. 😊
Hi Guys , Everything will be fine , as my mum used to say it'll all work out in the end no point in worrying about things we can't control . I'm in my 50s and mine are grown up it's just another stage of life we have to navigate . We'll miss you 😊❤
We're truly appreciate it. We're definitely looking into traveling as much as possible before we start our mini farm. I think both are going to be fun adventures to share with you all. 🤍 Jess x
Thank you to all our American brothers and sisters, past and present for helping to make this world a safer place, from the UK. Good luck on your retirement, I'm sure you guys will quickly settle back into life in the US.
It was such an honor to visit the American Cemetery and pay our respects. We always do our best to stop and pay our respects when we can in the villages at the memorials. Retirement is very existing . We're looking forward to what the future holds for us. Cheers, Chris
Trust us, you will be so sadly missed when you go back “home” 😢. Your family have settled in your little countryside area and made it “yours” - your own little happy patch and have seemingly enjoyed living a British life. I hope it all works out for you going back - it will seem weird at first, how you found it when you first arrived here with our own funny little ways! 😵💫😂. Just take a little piece of “us” back with you and nurture a little bit of England in your garden in the hope it will give you happy memories of your time spent here🙂 And….happy birthday Chris 🥂🥳
We will miss it here too. We all have enjoyed the time and being able to travel. We will take quite a bit of little parts of the country back with us. Also, Thank you! Cheers, Chris
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS and may you have many more.Regards your trip to the cemetery. We visited the cemetery at the River Kwai in Thailand a few years back.Looking at the headstones you realise that some were only young men,19 and 20.They were ALL HEROES in our eyes and we both walked away Crying. God Bless them.
Hi Chris, Happy Birthday, it was my 70th Birthday on Sunday 10 November, on that day I visited the American military cemetery at St. James in Brittany where 4,404 American servicemen are buried with 550 commemorated as missing in action. A very moving visit!
Friend, thank you for the birthday wishes, and happy belated birthday to you as well! It's such an honor and so incredible to be able to pay our respects. Thank you for sharing with us. Cheers, Chris
On retirement, go with the flow. Listen to all advice given, but you decide what’s best for you . both of you are good and honest and WILL make the right decisions.
Happy Birthday Chris. So glad you got to see the cemetery. They may not have made it home but they are buried in a land where they will be loved and taken care of. Good luck in your retirement Chris. It’s takes some getting used to but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it when the time comes. I’m a retired U.K. police officer and I love every minute of it. I’m sure you’ll both treasure the extra time together.
We are glad we made it there, too. I was pleased to see just how well they were being taken care of. It made me truly happy. As for retirement, we will enjoy the extra time together, especially on a farm. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris, glad you made it to the American Military Cemetary in Cambridge .I hope you guys are able to work things out . i'm with you all the way .
It was an honor going to the American Cemetery! We appreciate all the recommendations to visit. It was very deep and moving time for us. We are excited to share our next chapters with you all. 🤍 Jess x
Many American forces people come back to live in the uk , and I endorse your return because you are beatuful people who respect and love our country. You will always be welcome here xxxx
We have definitely thought about it moving back one day. The only downside would be missing our families. We really do love it here and will return even just for a holiday. We really appreciate your love and support! 🤍 Jess x
Happy birthday Chris. When there's change on the horizon, every single one of us, even if we are excited about this change, it will always be tinged with an element of trepidation....it's normal. Listen guys, you have to do what's right for you, then go for it with full gusto!....you have both proven that you are both very resourceful folks. If things don't work out for you when you get back to the States, you know the door is always open here in the UK to welcome you back.
Nobody knows the future try to make the best of whatever happens. My wife had to retire at 53 because she was losing her sight even though she wanted to paint in her retirement. I had to retire 3 years earlier than I planned due to my Parkinson’s getting worse and have had to change what I planned to do in my retirement. However you just have to grab whatever life throws at you and make the best of things. Keep calm and carry on!
Friend, thank you for sharing yours and your wife's story. Sorry you both had to retire earlier than planned. We are looking forward to our future and taking you long with us, friend! Thank you for your kindness and love. 🤍 Jess x
I wish you both all the best in whatever you choose to do in the future and will deffo follow your journeys here and back in the states ❤ 🌼🪻🌷🌻 a very Happy birthday to Chris 🎂 🥂🎉
Must be very difficult with your family in America especially if one of them falls ill. Yea its going to be difficult acclimatising back to the states but i am sure with a little time you will swing back into it, i for one will be sorry to see you go, loved all your videos and thankyou for all your lovely comments and appreciation you have shown of our country. And also the appreciation we have towards the American serviceman that gave there lives over hear keeping us free from Nazi invasion something we will always indebted to you for. Lots of love to both of you Chris and jess, look forward to more of your days out 😘
Friend, That had been the hardest thing for us not being in the US to help our family when they need us the most. Cancer and other health issues are never fun but are the hardest when you feel helpless when you see them cry, and all you want to do is hug them and spend time with them. We really love it here and will return to the UK as much as we possibly can. Hopefully, you will enjoy the adventures we share with you all on here from the US. Thank you for your continued love and support! 🤍 Jess x
A good place for you guys to consider visiting is the JFK memorial at Runnymede near Windsor in Surrey. The land for the memorial was donated by our late Queen Elizabeth II to the people of the USA. This is the only piece of land in the U.K. that is now belongs to the USA. Not even the U.S. Embassy in London holds that distinction. The land sits overlooking the spot where the Magna Carta was signed by King John of England in June 1215 and is said to be the basis on which the US Constitution was developed. There is a UA-cam video on this.
We are definitely going to visit the JFK Memorial. We're just trying to figure out what would be the best time of year. It is so incredible that the Queen dedicated the land to the US. We will look for the video. I truly love and appreciate the UK so very much! Thank you for sharing the insight. 🤍 Jess x
Thank you for the birthday wishes! We're definitely trying to make that happen. We feel like it would be such a great experience for ourselves and to share with everyone. Also, we have so many things on our bucket list to cross off. This next chapter, full of retirement, farm life, traveling, and sending our kids to college or off into the world will be one crazy adventure. We can't wait to share all the Ups and downs with you all. Jess and I really enjoy following and are always cheering you all on! Cheers, Chris & Jess Edited by Jess - Sending you all love!! Hope you all are doing well. I love seeing your channel grow. You all are amazing 💛
I can relate exactly to how you're feeling. I lived and worked in the US for nearly 3 years. I made the decision to come back home to England, even though I had a pretty decent life over there. I knew I had to do it, but if was terrifying - I had no home or job to come back to, all my friends had evolved without me, and my habits and views had changed. All I can say is: for every good thing you leave behind, there will be a good thing to replace it, and vice versa. I spent my first year in the US missing all things British, but only about 2 months missing American things - that's not because Britain is better, they both have their strengths and weaknesses - but because everything was very familiar, and my brain sorted it all out very quickly. Prices are higher in the US, but so are wages. I found that it was just 'swings and roundabouts', for every inflated insurance, food, health cost, there was a deflated income tax, household utility, gas cost. In short, I had about the same disposable income in both countries (although I know that, that is not the case in all professions). You are both very personable people, I'm sure you'll be fine. Your UA-cam channel is growing, and that is a portable job, and I'm sure you'll carry your subs with you.
That does sound like we have very similar situations for sure. It is something that most people do not understand. Can it be done, yes. Will there be difficulties, yes. At the end of the day we are looking forward to what is ahead of us. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Chris
@@DaydreamersBarn I loved my time over there overall, you have a beautiful country. It was homesickness that brought me home. I lived for two years in CT, and that suited me fine, but then I got moved to Florida, and I found myself night and day dreaming about lush grass, rainy misty days and cloud cover lol! When it got to the point (during the Summer) that I was just going from an AC'd car to an AC'd house or store - I called it quits.
@rebeccat94 Oh, Florida is too hot for us. The north is where we are the happiest. So we understand what you experienced AC to AC and missing the beauty. We love the UK always so beautiful and green and lovely weather! I do miss all four seasons. The snowy winter is one thing I have wished for since moving to the UK. Guess they are possibly calling for it this week! I would be happy with just a light dusting of snow. We really appreciate your time sharing with us. 🤍 Jess x
Happy Birthday Chris ! I am so glad you guys visited the Great American Cemetery based in Cambridge! Its very surreal and I drive past it weekly and it is immaculate in every respect! Take care guys and I am reading / watching this on remembrance Sunday and its very emotional! God bless all these great people who sacrificed their lives to give us what we have today xx
Thank you for the birthday wishes. It was such an honor to visit and pay our respect to those who lost their lives. We truly appreciate all your love and support, friend! 🤍 Jess x
Congratulations on both your birthday and pressing the button for retirement. Its scary, but something to look forward to, you'll be fine. Getting a new job is an opportunity to do something new, if it doesn't work, try something else. I will, hopefully retire in 2027, I know things we want to do. It will be an exciting future and I don't know anyone who has regretted retirement. The USA seems very divided from this side of the pond, we'll have to see what happens. I'm looking forward to your UK videos to come and the ones when you get home. Yes, try to do every state, including Hawaii and Alaska
Happy birthday Chris! I think at the moment, many of us just want to crawl under a rock until things improve. Many, including me love to watch home renovations, so as you already have this channel, maybe you could document that when you get back to the Upper Peninsula. There's a delightful channel The Lost Tower Diaries of a mother and daughter working in and around their old Scottish farmhouse with their cats, chickens, peacocks etc. It's lovely to watch and I'd love to see that on here if you fancy doing something like that.. Hope you don't dwell on things too much yet as you explore more of this country. Glad you found the Cambridge cemetery and it's well cared for. Watched the programme from the Cenotaph in London today as I do every year. Always incredibly moving to see those who served honoured. Take care.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. We will document what we need to do as we work on our current place and whatever else we can get into. We have both loved the home renovations in the past too. Cheers, Chris
I know that at the BX on RAF Lakenheath, they did. We were there on Monday at 11 for 2 minutes, and they held a moment of silence. Thank you for your comment! 🤍 Jess x
Hiya Jess and Chris, Happy Birthday Chris I hope you had a great day 🎂. There are certainly some big challenges ahead for you my friends but after being with you and getting to know you I have nothing but 100% belief and confidence that you will succeed in achieving all your aspirations my friends ❤. I will have my fingers crossed for you just to help a little bit . Staying with your channel now and forever ❤️. Have a lovely Sunday and sending you all my best wishes. 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸 xx
Hiya Stephen, Thank you for the birthday wishes. We do have some big changes ahead of our family. It's always exciting and scary all at the same time with the unknown. We're so thankful you are along for the ride here in the UK and in the US. We hope you have a good day! Cheers Chris
I came out of the RAF after 22yrs quite a few years ago now, and know what a major life change that was. When you moved here you adapted quickly to life in the UK re shopping and driving etc. When you move back across the pond I've no doubt that you'll drop seamlessly back into the American way of doing things. When that horrible day (for us) comes, know this Jess, your family has become greatly loved by us Brits and we're going to miss you. You'll leave a massive hole. For me, I'll miss your sense of genuine awe and wonderment when you see somewhere or something new - and that will be difficult for anyone to replicate. Finally, a big happy birthday to Chris - unfortunately none of us can cheat that 'ticking clock.'
First off, thanks and you are right, no one can cheat that one. Also, as we will be transitioning back to America, we will still be sharing content being as genuine as we can. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris hope you've had a lovely day. Talk of the American cemetery. You may find a trip to where the magna carta was signed at Runnymede. As just by there is an acre of land that was given to America by Queen Elizabeth II. And there is a memorial built for serving members of the American armed forces
Happy birthday Chris. I cannot begin to imagine what concerns you all have at returning home from a few years in a different country. I was born here (UK) and have retired here. Apart from a short spell in Germany with the military and a few foreign holidays I have remained here. I, personally, would love to track your journey when you return. I do hope that the US and UK remain with that 'special friendship' and not just allies.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. We would be honored for you to take the journey with us as we return. We too hope that the US and UK can keep the relationship we currently do. Cheers, Chris
The American cemetery at Cambridge is a most fabulous place. Sounds weird, but a more peaceful place is hard to imagine. Somehow the place itself just seems to offer thanks and tribute to those who lie there. VERY humbling, even more so when you think of their average age, so many young men robbed of their futures for the futures of others. I hope that everything works out well, or better, on the return.
Happy Birthday Chris. We lived in Michigan for 3 years 2009-2012. Whilst there we drove to UP (several times), New York, Boston, Washington, Florida, Chicago. San Francisco, LA, Vegas, Huntingdon Beach, Grand Canyon. Too many folks there don't explore the riches. Enjoy and good luck.
Happy Birthday, Chris. My paternal grandfather survived WW1, I have a couple of the embroidered postcards he sent to my father in 1916. They were popular at the time to send back from the trenches.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. That is amazing having such a personal part of history. Something that money cannot buy. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Chris
Uncertainty can be scary but as Tom Hanks says in the film Castaway you never know what the tide will bring in. There is always hope for the future and Im sure it will be bright for all of you. I appreciate your total honesty on here. And just to say that this country isn’t perfect either! Enjoy the rest of your time here. And come and pay us a visit in the Yorkshire Dales if you haven't been. 😊
I know a neighbour who goes to Florida a couple times a year and I think why don't you go look at Grand Canyon, the Rockies, San Francisco, Phoenix Superstition Mountains as I read The Lost Dutch man's mine when I was young. I feel he is missing so much by just sticking to Florida. I hope you find your life back home very happy.
We agree with you. We feel the US has so much to offer, and a lot of people miss out. So we want to travel as much as possible to share the adventure with you all. Because I know going to the US can be quite expensive, like some in the US will never get a chance to see the UK. So we love to share our adventures with everyone. We appreciate your time with us. 🤍 Jess x
Firstly don’t stress …take a while and think about stuff, if you stay here there are a lot of folk here will absolutely love that. But if you choose to go back to the US then it was lovely having you here and we would miss you. However if you continue your Vlogs it wouldn’t be so bad.
I can't wait to see your little towns and visiting spots when you get home. I always regret not going backpacking around America when I was younger so I can do that through your channel.
Thank you so much! We can't wait to take you along with us for whatever we get into. We not ready to leave, but we understand it's something that will happen. We really appreciate your kindness and support! 🤍 Jess x
There is a town called Darlington. Perfect as a home base for day trips out and getting back... 30min from Durham 45min from York 1 and half hours from Edinburgh 1 and half hours from the lake district ❤ from Northeast England ❤️
Happy Birthday Chris. Please show us around the North peninsular when you get back home. My Mum and Dad had friends in Northport, would be great to see it today.
A happy birthday, Chris. The thought of going back without jobs must be terrifying but I am sure that you will soon overcome that. I wish you every success and happiness for your lovely family. I think that my biggest worry would be any potential health issues. Hopefully, you can continue any health insurance through the military. Please stop visiting places in the UK. You are making me jealous, and I am a UK citizen.
There are many things that we need to figure out, and we will in due time. We have discussed different things we will need and what we want. Also, we cannot stop visiting places just yet. Cheers, Chris
Sometimes we can think to deeply about what could happen when in fact most things go well and we forget how much we worried before about what could go wrong , though having a back up plan has helped me get through the maze of life on this planet.
Well Happy Birthday Chris! I don't envy you going back to the US next year as who can know what it will be like in a year! Much could be seriously changed..When I return to the UK for visits it does not take long to remember how it is and how to fit back in again.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. We're very nervous but also extremely excited to share with you all our farm and around the US. We appreciate your kindness and support! Cheers, Chris
Hiya. Happy Birthday, Chris. Questions: When you start receiving your military pension, will you NEED to get a job? If you're going to be working a smallholding, will you have the time to work another job? And speaking as a Brit on Remembrance Sunday, "Thank You For Your Service." Stay safe. All the best to you.
Thanks for the birthday wishes and kind words. Not sure if I will need another job, but if we have a good successful smallholding, we might be able to bring some things to the local farmers market. That would be ideal for me.
A very Happy Birthday, Chris. Your family obviously have a number of 'heavy' issues which are in need of careful consideration, and you are already meeting them 'head on' by sharing with your followers. With large projects I tend to rely on an old fashioned note book, where the various issues are given space (even chapters), for the disorganised flood of questions and concerns which inevitably arise, and pencilled notes are made in the related chapter, for deeper consideration at another time. This helps to give clarity and a firm base for future decisions. For example, regarding your home in the US, would a Surveyor, or even a friend, be allowed access to maybe take photos and give a cursory report as to the condition ? What is the jobs market like in your chosen State ? Whatever you decide I wish you all the very best, and when you're home and posting vlogs I will definitely follow you. Cheers! Sheffield South Yorkshire. PS. My retirement happened 24 yrs ago. Health and sufficient money are crucial. Hobbies are vital. Otherwise it's easy peasy to retire. We only work for the money and the friendships.
Thanks for the birthday wishes and kind words. We have started making our lists for sure. With the hobbies, that is why we are looking for the homestead/smallholding. Thanks for the advice though, it means a lot. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris I hope you will take us on your adventure when you return home loved watching your family I can understand you wanting to see more of your country I traveled quite a few states in US Please keep up the lovely films love from an 89yr young lady 💕🇬🇧
You shouldn't be terrified, you have your whole life ahead of you, almost. Your kids are at the age when you don't have to constantly worry about them running out in front of cars and everything else sounds like an adventure.
We're very excited but also very nervous about the unknown. We're looking forward to our future and sharing all the ups and downs with you all. 🤍 jess x
Thank you. I'm looking to support him in whatever he wants to do or just let me work and support him. Congratulations on your retirement as well, friend. 🤍 Jess x
If you come up to Sheffield (on the doorstep of the Peaks) it’s worth visiting the Mi Amigo memorial in Endcliffe Park. Me and my partner, who is also from the US, would be happy to show you around
Vaudevillian, We are definitely going to try and head up that way. We also really appreciate the offer to show us around! You all are so kind. 🤍 Jess x
Happy Birthday Chris 🎉🍻...lovely raw vlog, as Lily Meola sings in the song 'Daydream'..."if it doesn't scare you, then it's probably not worth it, don't give up on your Daydream"...going to miss the drives round the UK when you head back, but looking forward to the new chapter in your lives ❤ xx
if you enjoyed the Cemetary you might enjoy the memorial to JFK which is on the only american soil in the Uk the land was dedicated to us as a mark of respect. Happy Birthday Chris.
I spent time on a military base myself and can understand the good & bad points. Also Happy Birthday Chris.. 🍰🍺 The Government should do more to support those who have done military service in the UK from America who want to stay. so get all the support they need.. I have American friends living in my county for the past 10 years who left places like Florida & Texas, they are now settled into good jobs & homes here, so hopefully one day its an option to keep in mind, as i am sure many people would make you feel welcome here, as well offer support. With having relatives in US, and now Trump is back, that he will be looking after ex military there & America becomes a great place to live & tour. Also check out Warwickshire Castle Christmas Light Show.
I spent 12 years in the RAF, and when I came out of service it was a scary time. Applied for a bunch of jobs without success, but luckily there was an Army Camp within a commutable distance, and I work there as a civilian, so that works for me. I don't know if there would be a station near your house in the States, but it's just a thought. Never worry too much, with your energy and your age both counting for you I'm sure two jobs are just waiting for you.
21+ years in the RAF. Got a job within 3 weeks of leaving. Never had a problem getting jobs ever since. Employers seem to love ex servicemen. What trade were you?
@ I think the Rock ape experience might have gone against you? Only kidding! Surprised an MT mech having problems getting a job in civvy street. Were you looking for similar work? ie. Car/bus etc mechanic jobs? Sounds like you found something satisfying and worthwhile eventually with the Army. I found most civvy companies very disappointing generally. Definitely not to the same standard of teamwork, etc as in the RAF. Everyone out for themselves and doing the bare minimum to get by. All the best for the future. 🫡
@@Sn00pyJ508 Yeah same line of work, but all vehicles had moved-on and garages didn't want a thirty something who couldn't diagnose faults in the latest electronics. I'm now installing the new radio systems to Heavy military vehicles. Glad you've been successful.
@Mr_Flibble716 Nice one, sounds a good job and right up your street in an environment you are familiar, and no doubt happy with. Long may it continue. Thanks and take care. Regards. 🫡
Best of luck finding bread back home that's not full of unhealthy unnecessary additives even in Sourdough, baking one's own can be the answer if flour can be found additive free and if white unbleached.
Unfortunately we do not know what the future holds in store for us which I think is good as some of it we would not want to know. I retired in 2007 and that same year my wife was diagnosed with lymphoma we made the best of that and I lost her in 2011 as I say the future is an unknown entity thank goodness. Best of luck with your retirement which I hope will be long and happy.
Many Happy Returns Chris... 🎂🥳 I think you should take a leaf out of the others that have made the UK home... And have your whole family move over here... Pool together all of your money and assets to buy one very large house or several houses... And start a small business where you could all run it together as a family... Which is what many people used to do four or five decades ago when coming here to the UK... They either opened up Corner Shops... Restaurants... Or Fabric & Textile Businesses... By pooling their assets together... And working as a team in that business by working different shifts and making money over the years. Or you could take on the "Homes Under The Hammer" format of flipping houses... Buy properties at auction... Renovate the properties for a few thousand quid... And then sell it on... And make between £20,000 to £100,000 in profits... It's very rare that property developers lose money... And on the very rare occasions that they do... It's usually a tiny amount... As most will make huge sums of money... If you've never seen the show before... It'll be on again tomorrow morning on BBC-1... 👍 Obviously you're in charge of your own destiny guys... I'm just putting in my thoughts on the subject... All the very best... Cheers guys. 🍺
I think you have a few good suggestions. Maybe we might take a thing or two from your recommendations and combine them into what our future holds....only time will tell. Cheers, Chris
🤍 Jess x
I was in Tesco (Oxford) at the 11th hour and the 2 minutes silence was observed flawlessly. A respect to be proud of.
We were able to observe it on base at the and even the American's did a good job at observing it. Cheers, Chris
Thank you so much. It has been an honor serve. We're looking forward to our next adventure. Cheers Chris
Anyone who came this far to keep us all free deserve every respect we can give.
I know it was for the world and so includes the USA, but regardless, they came and saved us.
Thank God
You should see the JFK memorial. A piece of land GIVEN to the USA 'forever', a piece of land that overlooks the spot where Magna Carta was signed.
It's a beautiful memorial and every part of it symbolises something.
Hey.... I've just thought... give birth there and the kid would be American.. that's a truly disturbing thought 😂
From an ex British soldier, lucky enough to have never seen war, I thank all American forces. Family!
I hope we all begin making extra effort to house and feed our veterans. Including police and firemen.
Let us all bear this in mind....
Poor is the land that has no heroes
But
Poor still is the land that has heroes
AND FORGETS 😢
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
That is a great way to put it. We have talked about the JFK memorial. We might end up checking that one off. Also, we couldn't agree with you more on the fact that we need to keep making the extra effort. Cheers, Chris
Thank you for your service. Lest we forget
Thank you!
🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Adrian,
Chris asked me to tell you thank you for the birthday wishes!
Happy Birthday Chris, have a good one.🎂🍻
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday!!!! Good luck for your future retirement. I was born and raised in England and have lived in America for a little over 20 years. I used to like living here but now, if it were possible for me to move back to England, I would be on the next plane back.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. We are looking forward to the move. Hopefully it gets better for you there. Cheers, Chris
Thank you for the birthday wishes. We are looking forward to what is ahead and glad that you will be along for the progress. Cheers, Chris
@DaydreamersBarn 🍻👍
🤍 Jess x
Many Happy Returns (to the UK!) I really want you to stay here. xx
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
😵💫😂. Just take a little piece of “us” back with you and nurture a little bit of England in your garden in the hope it will give you happy memories of your time spent here🙂
And….happy birthday Chris 🥂🥳
We will miss it here too. We all have enjoyed the time and being able to travel. We will take quite a bit of little parts of the country back with us.
Also, Thank you! Cheers, Chris
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS and may you have many more.Regards your trip to the cemetery. We visited the cemetery at the River Kwai in Thailand
a few years back.Looking at the headstones you realise that some were only young men,19 and 20.They were ALL HEROES in our eyes and we both walked away Crying. God Bless them.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Yes, they all were heroes. Some gave all, all gave some. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris, many happy returns and the best of luck with your retirement.
Thankyou for your 20 years of service keeping us all safe.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. It is very exciting, and we can't 2ait to share this next chapter with you all. Cheers, Chris
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAVE A GREAT DAY, AND MANY MORE.
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
On retirement, go with the flow. Listen to all advice given, but you decide what’s best for you . both of you are good and honest and WILL make the right decisions.
I truly like how you said that. Thanks for that. I have decided that advice is best for us. Cheers, Chris
Many happy returns, Chris, what a tribute you wanted to pay, on this day, of days....Thank you with xx
Thank you for the well wishes and kind words. Cheers, Chris
Thank you! Cheers Chris
Thank you for the kind words. It will be a great time for us as we transition. Cheers, Chris
🤍 Jess x
Happy birthday Chris. You absolute legend of a man!
I,m only halfway through this video, i suggest you lovely people should just stay over here xx
Unfortunately, we will have to go back next year. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris. You will all be fine, don't worry, it will work out for you
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
I wish you both all the best in whatever you choose to do in the future and will deffo follow your journeys here and back in the states ❤ 🌼🪻🌷🌻 a very Happy birthday to Chris 🎂 🥂🎉
Thank you for the birthday wishes. Also, your kind and loving support friend! 🤍 Jess & Chris x
Lots of love to both of you Chris and jess, look forward to more of your days out 😘
Friend,
That had been the hardest thing for us not being in the US to help our family when they need us the most.
🤍 Jess x
We’ll come along wherever or whatever you decide to do.
That means a lot to all of us. Cheers, Chris
Yes, to traveling all 50 states! We’ll tune in ❤
Also, happy bday!
Cheers, Chris & Jess
Edited by Jess - Sending you all love!! Hope you all are doing well. I love seeing your channel grow. You all are amazing 💛
Don’t forget the American cemeteries in Normandy, France before you go? A MUST see.
We have heard it is something else. Especially with the location. If we are able we will make it. Cheers. Chris
Happy birthday Chris!
Vaudevillian,
Thank you!
Cheers Chris
Happy Birthday Sir.
🤍 Jess x
A learning process is a never ending story for us all it's life, you will be fine when you get back home, don't worry you all will fine & dandy
Thank you for the kindness! We are very excited to share some wonderful adventures yet to come.
🤍 Jess x
Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was truly a surreal experience and we are glad we were able to make it. Cheers, Chris
I'm sure you felt the same when you came here, and you nailed it ! And you'll nail it when you go home as well. Life always works out. You'll be fine
That is a very true friend. Thank you for your kindness. 🤍 Jess x
Happy birthday Chris and many more to you
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
Happy belated birthday Chris!! 🎉
Thank you for the birthday wishes! Cheers, Chris
Thank you so much! We're very excited about this next adventure. We hope our country can come together because it surely needs it.
Cheers Chris
Happy birthday Chris. Enjoy your day 😊🍾🍺🍷
Thanks, I did. Cheers. Chris
Even in workplaces all over the UK one minutes silence honoured at 11am on the 11th day of November.
At least it used to when I worked
🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸 xx
Hiya Stephen,
Thank you for the birthday wishes.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. We have talked about making that trip. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris.
I couldn't have said it better myself. The place is powerful and peaceful all in one. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris.
Thanks for birthday wishes. We plan on seeing all the places and exploring the riches for sure. Cheers, Chris
Congratulations on your retirement, adventures are always scary, that is what makes them an adventure!
Thank you! And you are right, it is what makes it an adventure. Cheers. Chris
Happy Birthday mate! All the best!! Love your vids!! Your such a smashing couple, bon chance and all the best!!
Happy birthday Chris 🥳
Thanks. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday, Chris.
That is a great way to look at it. We want to be honest, it is who we are and want to be. Cheers, Chris
We will continue, so hopefully it won't be too bad. Cheers, Chris
30min from Durham
45min from York
1 and half hours from Edinburgh
1 and half hours from the lake district
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
Sounds like a great place to check out. Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris. Please show us around the North peninsular when you get back home. My Mum and Dad had friends in Northport, would be great to see it today.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. It would be lovely to show you around Northpoint. Cheers, Chris
Stepping in to the unknown is always a worry, try to look at it as exiting trip into the future.
Yes, very true. We're excited because we know we have each other. Thank you 🤍 Jess x
Sometimes we can think to deeply about what could happen when in fact most things go well and we forget how much we worried before about what could go wrong , though having a back up plan has helped me get through the maze of life on this planet.
That is some pretty good advice. Thanks for taking the time for sharing. Cheers, Chris
Great video 👍 The best way to invest in some containers like Ambition Strikes videos and start growing your own vegetables etc 😊
I do think we will do that. Cheers, Chris
Many happy returns, Chris, and congratulations on pushing the retirement button.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I'm excited about this adventure ahead of us. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris
Thank you
Cheers Chris
Happy birthday, Chris. . Keep up the good work
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris 🎉hope you have amazing day 🎈🎉🍰🎁
Thank you for the birthday wishes. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday mate!
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris I hope you will take us on your adventure when you return home loved watching your family I can understand you wanting to see more of your country I traveled quite a few states in US Please keep up the lovely films love from an 89yr young lady 💕🇬🇧
Thank you for the birthday wishes. We will for sure take you on our adventures when we return. Cheers, Chris
🤍 jess x
Happy birthday Chris. Yeah go to every state but you have to visit a town with a British place name :)
Thanks for the birthday wishes. We will at least look for one, I am sure all of them have at least one. Cheers, Chris
I hope Chris enjoys his retirement Jess. I retired myself in Summer last year, and quite honestly, it's the best job I've ever had!
Thank you. I'm looking to support him in whatever he wants to do or just let me work and support him. Congratulations on your retirement as well, friend. 🤍 Jess x
Happy birthday Chis, have a great day and many happy returns.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. Cheers, Chris
It's a while off, but it will work out. I hope you hold fond memories of your stay here and hold a littlepiece of our nation in your heart
We have had wonderful memories, and plan on getting a few more very soon. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers, Chris
If you come up to Sheffield (on the doorstep of the Peaks) it’s worth visiting the Mi Amigo memorial in Endcliffe Park. Me and my partner, who is also from the US, would be happy to show you around
Vaudevillian,
We are definitely going to try and head up that way. We also really appreciate the offer to show us around! You all are so kind. 🤍 Jess x
If you come to Somerset visit Dunster then you can drive through to Lynton and Lynmouth
Love, thanks for the recommendation! 🤍 Jess x
So glad you went to the cemetery near Cambridge.
Us as well. It was lovely to pay our respects.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Jess truly loved your comment. Cheers, Chris
if you enjoyed the Cemetary you might enjoy the memorial to JFK which is on the only american soil in the Uk the land was dedicated to us as a mark of respect. Happy Birthday Chris.
We're definitely planning to visit. Thank you so much. Cheers Chris
Have a great birthday
Thank you, I did. Cheers, Chris
You are going to need to bake your own bread when you go back. And happy birthday Chris.
We are looking forward to it. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday M8
Thanks. Cheers, Chris
Chris what arm of the forces are you in? How long have you lived in the U.K.?
US Military in the Air Force. We have been sharing our adventures here on our UA-cam channel for over 1 year. Cheers, Chris
I spent time on a military base myself and can understand the good & bad points. Also Happy Birthday Chris.. 🍰🍺
The Government should do more to support those who have done military service in the UK from America who want to stay. so get all the support they need..
Thanks for the comment. There is some good support, there is always room for more though. Cheers, Chris
Happy Birthday Chris! From King's Lynn, Norfolk. Martyn.
Thanks. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris hope you had a great day🎉
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
I was a MT mechanic, twice attached to the Regiment.
Regards. 🫡
Come back, you know you want to, please.
We plan on it. Cheers, Chris
Be good to see you back in Somerset…hope you can get as far down as Exmoor
We will see where we can still get. Cheers, Chris
Happy birthday Chris, 🎂hope all goes well for the futuer
Thank you. Cheers, Chris
Best of luck finding bread back home that's not full of unhealthy unnecessary additives even in Sourdough, baking one's own can be the answer if flour can be found additive free and if white unbleached.
We will look into the best way to do that for our family, but I think you are on to something. Cheers, Chris
Thanks for the kind words and the support. We do appreciate it. We are looking forward to the future. Cheers, Chris
