When i lived in greenwich i used to sit on the beach when the tide was out to read a book. Its amazingly peaceful as the riverbank blocks all the sound.
A Thames cruise well worth doing, when the weather is good, is from Central London upriver to Hampton Court Palace. It's a gorgeous trip!! For the Globe, the standing tickets are fun, because the actors interact with the people in the pit. I've heard the benchs aren't comfrotable, bring a cushion. There's also the Sam Wanamaker playhouse, a replica of a 16th century theatre, used more in the winter, they light everything with candles!! Borough Market opens early in the morning, which is why they close early too.
I went London for a week from Birmingham and let me tell u I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of ppl and the quality of food. A lot of choice, beautiful architecture, quick transport, surprising value for money-only bad thing was weather

Studying Shakespeare is not just an English thing. In the Texas schools, I attended, we studied Shakespeare in several grades. I for one loved it! And my husband has been researching his genealogy and recently found out that he is a descendent of William Shakespeare’s family.
Bear in mind that probably half of English descend from every random (fecund) individual living in England 500 years ago - let alone from their family.
London is finished. As an Aussie I was lucky enough to live there in the late 80s and it was superb. Was there last year and I could not get out quick enough.
My first visit to London I insisted seeing The Ripper Tour. Tour Woman was great and wow she walked out tails off but we all loved it! London has changed immensely just as most big cities have. Cozy up in your Jammie’s with a big bowl of chicken soup and a great movie. Cheers, ox💕🇺🇸

I’ve only been able to visit London twice in my life. It was a lifelong dream of mine to live there; at 64, I don’t think it’s going to pan out but if I had the means, believe me, I would live out the rest of my days there. Thank you for the ability to visit vicariously twice a week!❤
Hi Hannah, I personally prefer that part of London in the very early morning, when I feel it has been returned to me. I give it back to the tourists to enjoy for the rest of the day. I wouldn’t say I actually dislike it at anytime, I just don’t like having to share it with too many other people.
My family watches to see You, Hannah, walking us around London. Getting a bite, a tea, people watching, builds, shopping. We're easy to please because adventuring out with you is always delightful. Film whatever you like. xo
The reason you don't see anything of Borough Market is - there are signs everywhere saying "no photography" and the traders give you nasty looks if you try to take a picture. I know - I tried. So I just don't go there any more.
You are awesome. Hope you feel better. This section of London reminds me of the edges of Times Square in NYC. Lots of fun to be had...just keep your eyes open and be aware of scammers.
There´s a lot of London bashing going on on YT, but I still think the positives outweigh the negatives (but keep your wits about you!). Well done, Hannah !!
I’m a boomer and remember, as a child, when there was Cobb the Butcher at the upper end of Sloane Street (complete with sawdust on the floor) and - over the road - Mac fisheries. Now, it is ultra expensive schickimicki stores with security guards on the door in dark glasses, ear pieces dangling down. In short, real people have been expelled from central London and that’s why I hate my home town and live out in the country now.
You Hannah are an absolute SCREAM!!! in these videos, I just love watching and listening to you as you’re just like a friend chatting away to all of us. I was considering/ contemplating coming to London ( having given it a miss for the last ten years) your vlog was the deciding factor there’s really nothing there worth the expense.
London has been, still is, and will forever be one of the great cities of the world. The troubles they have can be found in New York, Paris, Milan, Rome, Madrid… this list goes on.
Yet not in Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei, Shanghai, Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, Moscow, Leningrad, Ulan Batur, Mexico City etc... lots of other places too, I wonder what the difference could be?
Hannah - 5pm closure saved you. The chocolate on the strawberries turns rock hard and becomes inedible - rip off! Love that part of London, always something interesting to see at Southbank been there many many times. Love your videos x
I grew up and lived in London until my late twenties and then moved to the US and became a naturalized citizen here after living here for twenty years. I always loved, LOVED London. Whatever anyone says, London has a special place in my heart, still does. I visit London every a few years to see my family and I always love being back there. I loved your tour and I myself went those places multiple times. Love London. Love London. I really enjoyed just being in a trance following along the views and quite enjoyed your witty and funny commentary!
I think the Severn is the longest river in England? But I digress. I've done this exact walk so many times, I could probably walk it blindfold! Love it. With regard to fish and chips, I never saw Gravy in a takeaway anywhere in the South East until fairly recently. First time I saw it was in Wales. As for ice cream, £4 is not too bad for a 99, I've been to some seaside towns recently and they were priced between £3 - £3.50. Anyway, enough rambling from me!
@@HannahRicketts Hi Hannah, as has been pointed out you were technically correct as the Severn also flows through Wales! The Severn is longer than the Thames though.
Definitely one of your best videos! Super shots of the tourist spots. Very helpful for those unfamiliar with London. London has certainly changed over the last three decades...

I was in London this summer with my kids. It was my first time back in 20 years. I’m sorry but Westminster bridge was like a 3rd world country. Scammers galore. It was nasty. All big cities have problems I get it. But. It was nasty. But we loved our trip!! I love London!!!
I remember London when people wore Bowler hats and had a walking umbrella. I also remember the Mary Quaint Shop by Libertys and the Punk Rockers on Kings Road. Daylight saving I was told was so that children didnt go to school in the dark which was dangerous as back in the 70s kids walked to school not many people had cars, I guess children are driven to school now so I guess it doesnt make sense now. Thank you nice to see how London looks now. Its an always changing city i guess. Myself, parents, grandparents and great and great great and great great great grandparents all lived there so when i see your videos it reminds or things they said about places and what they did there. all my gone now including me, nobody left in London now just the memories just about. enjoy it it may not be forever you can live there. x thank you for your videos x
That time was certainly longer than a quarter century ago. Because nothing has changed about London since then. Walking umbrellas are a good thing but the stores simply don't sell them anymore… like shirts with breast pockets. The stores blame customers for not buying these things… but how can customers buy them when the stores don't sell them??? I'd love a walking umbrella ☔ - not for walking but simply because I need the hooked handle to hang it when it's dirty and wet. A simple thing - impossible to buy in Great Britain and Ireland. Now that's a conspiracy!
Hi Hannah! How can you look so good, when you feel so rough? Hope you got some good nosh, a couple of Para's, and cosy back home! You do not deserve to be so harassed like that-you're a real trooper to just carry on! Loved what you said about Shakespeare and being traumatised by studying Macbeth! Back in the day, I saw some obscure Shakespearean play at The National; I was SO bored, my teeth ached! Anyway, I hope you feel better soon! More London tours for me-but I'll still watch, whatever! Love sue xxx
Too bad that the days are getting shorter. Looking forward to the Christmas vlogs, and having two videos a week again. Always enjoy the tips about how to stay safe in London as well.
Definitely Christmas shopping! This walk brought back memories of my visit to London. We stayed in the hotel next to Tower bridge and walked across it at sunset for some lovely pictures. There was a brewery directly across from the hotel…..not very picturesque. London certainly has changed since. Thanks for another nice walk…well done!

Evening Hannah thank you for the walk. I did the same walk with my best friend who came up from Somerset but we had earlier afternoon tea at County Hall and drank a lot of sparkling wine/ champagne and we were both tipsy we had a great walk along. I couldn't live anywhere else but London as I love it! Thank you Hannah
My partner and I are planning to move to London next year from NZ, and your videos have really helped me feel more excited than nervous about the move!! On your Shakespeare question, I also studied it at secondary school here, but not every school or class teaches the same material!
If you like art and antiques, a good place to go is Sothebys in Hanover Square, just behind Oxford Street by Hanover Church. You can look around at paintings and stuff for a few weeks before it goes to auction. It also has a nice café and restaurant where you can stop for coffee £5 ! There's small Hanover park where you can sit in summer, and round the corner is Savile Row, where tailors have their workshops and shops. If you look in the basements, you can see them cutting and sewing suits and shirts. If you sit on the top deck of a bus, it's a cheap way to see London, the 137 takes you across the river to Battersea Park, or onwards to Clapham Common, which has some nice pubs, cafés and restaurants.
Have to say that having just returned from a two week trip home to London, I was so impressed with how clean it all seemed. Everything is so well organized for tourists - maps, street signs etc. and compared with New York, the Tube is spotless!! I think the South Bank is so much fun - and of course there will be phone snatchers etc. but for crying out loud , put your phone away and enjoy the vibe. You don't have to apologize for anything in London - it's an amazing city, warts and all, fabulous mix of old and new architecture. You didn't miss anything by not trying the chocolate strawberries - nasty! We did manage to try Humble Crumble (the one at Neal's Yard, not Borough Market) and it was brilliant - I had Rhubarb with custard - and the custard had free top ups! How beautiful everything looks in the twilight - thanks so much for this. LONDON IS EPIC!!!!!

Hi again Hannah, a very good “ warning” and lookout for yourselves blog ,as that walk vastly improves after you pass under the Waterloo bridge and Festival Hall . Perhaps a good idea would be to recommend visitors to enter the Southwark catherdral , ( and cafe ) , that is beside the Borough Mkt. too! There are so many good walk tours available now , that have qualified “ Green card” guides to checkout the history of these areas you mentioned, especially good are the walks in the “ City” and business districts , near the Monument tower memorial for the great fire of London . ❤
I’ve never spent time on Westminster Bridge in all my visits to London, but the riverside ambience you show reminds me of the touristy areas by the Seine in Paris, near Musee D’Orsay and the Louvre. Tat vendors, picture sellers, and all the things. Thanks for showing me tourist London in all her glory!

I perfectly agree with you Olivia, i much prefer the old london, far too many glass buildings & as for the apartments along the Embankment, how ugly are they😩😩😩
Hello Hannah, Friday is not only for weekend,it's meeting with the most natural and genuine person I have ever followed on UA-cam.Please please, don't ever stop.❤❤❤.Hope to ever come across you ,if i visit London.
Hannah--you are not a "dog"!! You are the loveliest & most elegant vlogger on Facebook! London is lucky to have you showing it off!❤
Absolutely ! , such a lovely lady ❤

She's gorgeous.

@@le_th_Bro, what are you talking about? The guy complimented her and that's it. You shouldn't tell a young lady if she's pretty? Where did your stupid nonsense come from? Just have a nice day and stop crying 😂
Hannah, my wife and I agree that you are you and a beautiful lady for being just you. We both also agree that the walk today would be stressful and depressing for us as we live in the country and dont like crowds or loud noises. Tower Bridge is beautiful and Shakespeare’ Globe was a pleasure to see. Overall, not a walk we would do if and when we get to London. Keep being you and producing fab videos. We vote for “Xmas” shopping. Stay safe.
Si je devais venir à Londres cela serait uniquement pour voir cette belle dame .
there are many population in your village?
I left London. In 88 and am returning next year. My place is opposite the now sadly closed cinema on Fulham road and I have mixed feelings but London is and always be a fantastic city indeed. Neil in Fort Lauderdale ❤
When i lived in greenwich i used to sit on the beach when the tide was out to read a book. Its amazingly peaceful as the riverbank blocks all the sound.
'Beach' hahaha
Love you and your quirky sense of humour!
Hannah is a nice name
And nice accents 😂
@@jenlin6715 Couldn’t agree more. Way Better than Paris when it comes like you mentioned kindness and generosity. It’s always bad weather there. Cloudy and foggy

The Frenchies are not helpful
Yeah right lol
I had a lot more comments and compliments-at one point I was getting freaked out by the kindness because I had my city girl game face on. It’s really about the energy you give out!
That’s good,I get so sick of the Londoners/Southerners are unfriendly and the Northerners are wonderful comments, city people tend to be from everywhere and are more guarded on the surface, but I’ve found generally helpful and kind, but people are often more chatty and approachable the further out you get North or South,it’s just the way of big city life anywhere.😊
Hannah, you are providing a service for people interested in visiting London. You are showing the real London.
haha She Lives in a London Bubble Not REAL Go East London walk from Bethnal Green to Bow Via Whitechapel, Whitechapel is such a Sh,, hole the Olympic committee re routed the traffic away so tourists don't see Whitechapel And all its horrors

Spent 10 days in London in September. Walked along the south bank late at night with no issues. London is so beautiful at night.
Studying Shakespeare is not just an English thing. In the Texas schools, I attended, we studied Shakespeare in several grades. I for one loved it! And my husband has been researching his genealogy and recently found out that he is a descendent of William Shakespeare’s family.
At least It's bloody better than French. Mozart
Why. ??
Bear in mind that probably half of English descend from every random (fecund) individual living in England 500 years ago - let alone from their family.
We also studied Shakespeare in high school here in Canada
A response was here 🚩. Deleted by UA-cam. 🤐
London is finished. As an Aussie I was lucky enough to live there in the late 80s and it was superb. Was there last year and I could not get out quick enough.
Very nice Hannah. Thanks for the rickshaw warning. Love your videos.
Same in New york,just beware
My first visit to London I insisted seeing The Ripper Tour. Tour Woman was great and wow she walked out tails off but we all loved it! London has changed immensely just as most big cities have. Cozy up in your Jammie’s with a big bowl of chicken soup and a great movie. Cheers, ox💕🇺🇸
Yes your city, London, one of the best cities in the World. Even with grey skies its so beautiful!! Btw greetings from Calgary, Alberta here. You just keep doing what your doing, I love your vlogs!!! Have a wonderful week Hannah!!
Hannah, thank you for taking me along on your tour of London. I’ll get to Great Britain one of these years. I’m from the US.
Hannah please take care how rude of that person.. your brave as you could have your camera snatched 😊 I’ve never been to that part of London thank you for the tour ❤
I believe that the beautiful young lady could hold her own in a fight. I most definitely wouldn't bet against her. 😂
You've never been to Westminster??? What type of "London" have you been to? 😳
I’ve only been able to visit London twice in my life. It was a lifelong dream of mine to live there; at 64, I don’t think it’s going to pan out but if I had the means, believe me, I would live out the rest of my days there. Thank you for the ability to visit vicariously twice a week!❤
In America, we read Shakespeare in High School too. Can not wait for your Christmas videos!
It's not like you have an American alternative to him.
Love your videos, so fresh, honest and positive! You are a joy !❤
Hi Hannah, I personally prefer that part of London in the very early morning, when I feel it has been returned to me. I give it back to the tourists to enjoy for the rest of the day. I wouldn’t say I actually dislike it at anytime, I just don’t like having to share it with too many other people.
Very subtly put, John. 🙂
You always make me feel like a tourist, without leaving home, we are lucky to have the best London guide... CHEERS!!!
It’s a lot nicer than the edges of Times Square though.
There´s a lot of London bashing going on on YT, but I still think the positives outweigh the negatives (but keep your wits about you!). Well done, Hannah !!
Thanks!
@@NancyHarding-ne8lu thanks so much for the support!!!!

You handled the creepy guy so well. A slag? Never!
I love this video since I hurt my foot and can’t get around at present, can’t wait for the Christmas videos. Thanks for everything Hannah, you are a GEM!!! 🙂👍💐xxx
Loved seeing London.
Good or bad. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Thank you Hannah.
Could not agree more. There is more to the U. K, than just London, but a visit to the U. K necessitates visiting London for sure.
Hannah be careful! Glad there were lads to help sort him out! It’s like hanging with my London buddy! We did the Ripper tour and will say they were very entertaining. The way people had to live was so sad. Sleeping against ropes!
Oh ok definitely not taking the pedicab next time we ever go on holiday in London. That's crazy! Thanks for the tip Hannah. 😉
No Hannah, the river Severn is the longest in England.
That's right, the Thames is the second longest.
The Thames is the dirtiest!
The Severn passes through England and Wales so therefore is the longest river in the UK not in England
My bad!
Why do I keep hearing the east enders theme when I see the map of the thames? Lol
Both please! Can't believe Christmas is around the corner, my dear furry Hannah! 🦁😅

@notreyf I wasn't being negative! Just giving the truth & the truth can be hard to swallow. The jealousy the envy that people have against each other is absurd.
It only means that all of those cities are sh!tholes these days, not that London is great.
Дубай лучший ✋
The troubles start with a word "mass" and end with "migration" from the sh**hole countries
@Jonny-o3l I wonder if it has got something to do with certain colours?
My favorites are the Christmas shopping and tea service videos!
When was the last time u visited? Rapid decline in the last 4 years, its barbaric out there
@OxygenThief-l8qwhy in particular the last four years?
@OxygenThief-l8q I was there just last summer. It was all good, so I don't know what you are on about. London is still fine.
The Severn is the longest river in the UK, not England, as it meanders through England and Wales. Hannah is correct.
Yeah my bad

So nothing changed.
@@brexitgreensI thought it was worse. But that area is a shiz hole. But what can ya do. Kids needed to see the sights.
They have to come home in the dark instead!
It goes right back to WW1.
@@janebaker966 before that to Victorian times.

You do not deserve to be so harassed like that-you're a real trooper to just carry on! Loved what you said about Shakespeare and being traumatised by studying Macbeth!
That would've been the Anchor brewery (Courage), which closed in 1981.
Thanks Hannah for another great one, yes the Thames cruise should be on your wish list. The sun from the south of France is on its way.
I’m aboard a train headed to meet the daughter I placed for adoption 17 years ago. I’m feeling very nervous and anxious about it. Haven’t been aboard a train since London, so to calm my nerves I thought I’d put on something British and try to pretend I’m there. You my dear, are my go to Britt ❤

I have been to London Bridge. Contrary to popular opinion, it is not falling down. Looking forward to your Christmas vlogs, Hannah!!!
Lovely video, you look as beautiful as always. Take care.
Thank you another great Friday🖐🇺🇸
Zone 1 yeah is pretty clean, but the rest is dirty 😢😢
@ depends on what you’re comparing it with!
@@fionafrazer8820 I expect the councils to clean to a higher standard given the amount 💷 we pay in council tax. 😄

It's always good to see the city through the eyes of a local coz you see through the gloss and glitter travel volgs add to everything.
I spotted Southwark Cathedral in the background of the video, surprised Hannah didn't mention it.
Thank you for the London tours you provide me. There is no better guide, Hannah! 💗
Hannah, great videos and good to warn about awful rickshaw.
I loved the thames river tour. Took it to greenwich, dpent a lovely day there and took the boat back to london. Simple and a great day of walking
Thank you Hannah on bringing the Capital to your vlog!

Love your videos Hannah!! They are helping me plan on things to see and do when I come in April
Highly advise the full thames river cruise, london zoo and see at least one show on the west end. Don't forget, most museums are free
It’s reassuring to see that all the places you’re walking around, are still very recognisable.
Went on that Bankside walk just a couple of weeks ago and had a drink at the Anchor. 'Sole survivor of the river taverns of Shakespeare's time'. They say river pirates used to drink there. Love all that part of London.
