Great video - thank you for making this. I bought the Mini 3 Pro a week ago as my first drone and I've been out early on the local football ground learning the different features. The Mastershot is one that I haven't dared use yet because it's unclear how much space is needed. Going through all the different modes like this and actually showing the footage is extremely helpful to beginners like me. Thanks again.
I was wondering the same thing - I am curious to know that if there is NOT enough space while in a quick/master shot, will the censors detect an object and abort the master shot mode? Will it go around object if obstacle avoidance is enabled? or if we see it heading towards an object can we manually steer it away, and if so, will it then continue on the same master shot path or just abort master shot or return home? I am curious to know this ?
@@jmc2138 Side obstacle avoidance is automatically disabled when you do a quickshot orbit- Found this out the hard way, but the drone survived. Just needed new props after kissing a tree.

Great video! Quick question: is there a way to download the edited versions (with DJI music, etc) directly from the drone/remote without using DJI Fly on my mobile?
can you automate flight paths , that way you can focus on capture certain unique shots ?
Can you adjust the revolution speed of the drone when you do a circle quickshot? I haven't been able to find a setting for that.

I recently just bought the mi I 3 pro and I’ve only taken it up a couple of time’s playing with the quick shots.
I’ve yet to do the follow me mode ( active track )
Also I haven’t yet let it get out of my line of site.
Kinda scared of letting it go on a journey out of site. Lol
I need to get more familiar with it before that stage! 🤣

Good job. Out of curiosity, where did you shoot the video? I'm heading to Wales for a bit of a walking holiday in October and bringing my Mini 3 Pro along hoping for some decent weather and good shooting locations. Just got my CAA number and stuck it on the drone.

how do you access the Mastershot editor on the RC controller it never shows it to me keeps asking about cached data? do i need an SD card for the controller to do the edits?

Very nice overview Gavin. Can't say I'm impressed with the master shots though. I think using all the quickshots, some strategic flying, and some fanciful editing would produce a much better video. Just got my M3P so we'll give her a good run through. Thanks!

I have a test I would like to see, I was a little late at seeing your range test and only commented on it yesterday so not sure if you have seen it, I asked if you could do a range test with the pro controller and the stranded controller to see if the hidden antennas in the pro are letting it down and see if it makes any difference, not seen any vids on this and think it would make good content for you. thanks in advance as this would make me just buy the drone or with the pro controller!
It's a test I will look to do yes :) my personal feelings are just buy the drone myself but you can decide after my test :)

How did you get the radar in the bottom left to show tilt? From memory, mine doesn’t do that. I have a map or the radar showing relative location to the controller but not the tilt. N1 controller
Hi there, this was a previous version of the app where I think the compass indicator was much better, the new revision doesn’t seem to be as good sadly

Hi Gavin, what's going on with the resolution and frame rate with the Asteroid quickshot? The only option appears to be 1080p at 25fps, which is bizarre as with all the other quickshots are 30fps, and allow you go up to 4K 🤔

Really enjoyed that, thanks Gavin. It looks to be an amazing drone, I was looking at the clouds and the definition looks amazing and everything seems so crisp and clear. Not to mention how good it was in the wind.
Compared to the Mini 2 do you think it's worth upgrading? I've got a BIG birthday milestone in the next couple of months and was thinking about taking the plunge and getting one. What are your thoughts?
I like it David, I was impressed how well the horizon kept level even during the strong wind, the camera is without doubt better, at this early stage though if you have the RC-N1 controller already from the mini 2 i would maybe get the drone only as I can't say I am a big fan of the new RC

The new RC is superb not had a problem,nice bright screen once adjusted,great battery life,and the game changer no phone hooked up,what's not to like 😉
Is the footage that jerky after being processed?
I'm scratching my head to know how to store the mastershots correctly because once I backup to the clouds I can't edit a Mastershots or Quickshots again in the app.... Anyone out there know how to do this? Thanks
My favourite is the master shots although I wish it would just move in closer to the target instead of using it's digital zoom which just looks awful and spoils it a bit in them places, also first time I used it was bit anoyed that it recorded it at 1080p when I had it set 4k60 only after that I realised it defaults to 1080p for them shots, and frankly 1080p looks yuk compared to it's 4k60. I guess it's just meant for quick posts to mobiles.
Great tutorial sir, thank you! Quick question for you- how safe would it be to film a mastershot of a subject that is actually in the water? There is lighthouse that I want to film that is in a river near my house. How high should the drone be in comparison to the lighthouse before I draw the rectangle around it to select it? Would I be safe being level with the top of the lighthouse? I just don’t want the drone to do it’s thing and get confused over the water bc I know that the bottom sensors aren’t the best over water. Thank you very much in advance!
I fly incredibly low over water myself and have never had an issue, however yes starting a mastershots level with the top of a lighthouse will be perfectly fine

The mini 3 pro is about the best drone for tracking and obstacle avoidance I have seen unless you are in the US and want to get a skydio 2

Do the anti-colllision sensors work while using quick shots and mastershots?
Yes it works with quickshots and mastershots however a lot of them are circle motion and of course it doesn't have side sensors so still be careful of surroundings

The mini 3 will not work with litchi for some time yet, DJI need to release the SDK which will take many months then litchi can develop the app to work with it

Do you always need to hold the controller while using active track or can you put it in a bag once its set up? Am thinking in situations where you are doing an activity and you ideally want to use both hands and keep the controller out of shot
You can do but don't touch the controls

Any idea why I can’t use active track? “Active Cannot be used in this recording mode” always comes up when trying to lock on to something 🤷🏻♂️

It was because of the wind sadly ! My mic did a great job with wind noise but because of it I sounded too much but nothing I could do. Glad you enjoy them thank you

Your video is nicely made in itself but I do see a serious shortcoming. Take a look at the resolution of your screen shots of the RC. Take a look at 7:00 for example. If this is the quality of the screen recorder I think it is really bad. Maybe you have a good explanation I don't know of course!
You better ask DJI on that one, It's the new RC screen recording it's shocking and that is the explanation, it records at 480p which is simply not good enough, whilst the DJI mini 3 in itself is a good drone the new RC is severely lacking for content creators like myself
@@GAVINHR Your fellow youtuber Windswept Robert has been in contact with DJI about the resolution of the RC. Unfortunately it seems to be a fixed setting.

@@GAVINHR I know exactly what you mean. I regularly make drone tutorials myself and then you want a nice sharp image from your fly app. Maybe you could consider using your Ipad or Android smartphone again for those cases. It is a pity that the resolution is so low and I can't imagine that DJI intended this because the controller is not that cheap. So how would it be with the RC controllers of the Mavic 3? Would they also be this low in resolution?
@@RONALDSCHULTE Hi Ronald, as for the RC pro I am not sure what the screen recording resolution is but it needs to be better with the new RC, of course no microphone either just a few things I think this controller is pointless for any sort of content creator really, my next video using a screen recording I will be using the RC N1 controller with my mobile phone as that's pretty perfect

Hello my friend ! I will be doing a back to back test with the RC compared with the RC-N1 to see if there is a difference, I have never been convinced by O3 on my air 2s, overall there should be no difference between it and the mini 2 but I do need to check further to be sure. If you decided the new RC is a good move then I don't see an issue I think you will be ok 😁

What's the difference in mastershots and quickshots?
Mastershots are a combo of quickshots determined by the drone itself then it puts it into a little video for you whereas quickshots are singular
When u go into quick shot mode. A screen pops up telling u what that quick shot does. How do u disable that screen

he has a wireless mic clipped on. So it’s either recording internally on that mic or it’s feeding into a separate audio device.
