I’ll share my personal experiences as an eBay seller facing these challenges, along with the strategies I’m using to minimize the impact. Whether it’s adjusting handling times, or communicating better with customers, I’m breaking down everything I’m doing to keep my eBay business running smoothly despite the USPS chaos.
If you're an eBay seller struggling with USPS shipping issues, this video is for you! Don’t let the holiday rush turn into a nightmare - learn how to handle these problems head-on.

USPS wrecked e-commerce with their gazillion rate hikes over the last couple of years. Not only is USPS no longer reliable to ship anything, but the heightened shipping costs are scaring consumers away. It now costs close to $5 to a ship a DVD. Consumers just aren't willing to pay these prices, and the result is non-existent sales. Every time USPS raises its rates, package volumes further decline, causing merchants to lose billions.
It definitely makes low dollar items hard to sell if the shipping is just as much or more than the product it's self. Thank you for watching 🤟
@@GamersBay yep DVDs and books have to be sold in lots it’s really not worth shipping individually. Ground is 4oz is around $4 is what I use.
Rude and unhelpful employees goes all the year round.😆 I like using the self service machine. Thank you for sharing!!!! Great video!!!
Haha. Thank you for watching 🤟
Wife just got denied insurance claim on an item she shipped that was very well packaged, they literally crushed the box. Their insurance is useless. She followed all the rules to file a claim, the buyer sent her numerous good pictures, it's a joke.
Totally agree. Can't count on the insurance at all. I usually don't even bother anymore. Thank you for watching 🤟
I've also found the insurance to be meaningless. I've never gotten a USPS claim properly dealt with. And as of about 2 years ago, it's become the same issue with FedEx and UPS. I have no special knowledge to state whether shipping insurance has become a blatant fraud, but my experience is identical to what a fraudulent system would look like.
Yes it definitely seems like they make it hard as possible just so you don't even bother.
been reselling since 2005. Tens of thousands of items sold and shipped . My primary category is dish/glass ware. Broken items are a reality in that niche.
I havent even bothered to file a claim in probably 4 years. At least 3 but almost definitely more like 4 . I accept the loss and move on. The insurance isnt only useless , its useless to an absolutely fraudulent level. I occasionally see a post like this and it reminds me how infuriating that is , and I spend some time on the phone letting them (usps) know ( after making them escalate me a couple of tjmes ) how disgusting their intentionally obtuse and cumbersome methods are pertaining to "insurance" .
People need to get MORE angry at things like this. Most just shake their head , or bitch a bit and move on . If enough of us made them hear us , it wouldnt be this way. People will treat you in the manner you will accept.
I put my phone on speaker while i work and , at worst have cost them about 50 man hours with my complaints . Has it had an effect? Probably not but if hundreds or thousands of us were calling them , it certainly would.
They advertise a service . Priority boxes proudly state " tracked and insured!" all over the box. Then they refuse you the service you paid for. Its literal fraud . Get pissed off.
my post office has a self service kiosk, so i just scan all my own stuff then leave it on the counter. havnt had an issue yet but might reconsider after watching the video...
That's good, I'm glad it's working for you. Thank you for watching 🤟
When I first started selling on eBay just under 70 days ago, I had 2 of my packages not get scanned that I just dropped off.
eBay dinged my account for that. That was just a couple of weeks into selling on eBay.
Now after selling and shipping on time everything else, I’m still only at 97%
I get a receipt every time now.
Yeah that is a very familiar story that every seller goes through at some point. Thank you for watching 🤟
I’m not going to give the postal employees gifts for doing their job. I’m a paying customer, they can scan my packages like everyone else who is there for a service. I’m not against giving some donuts once in awhile for whatever reason, but as a way to have them treat you like a person…just no.
Thanks for watching 🤟
The idea that you have to "bribe" postal workers to do their job is ridiculous. Most are unionized professionals and are paid a professional wage and get generous benefits (many resellers don't even have health insurance, much less a pension!) Be nice, be friendly, be professional. But we shouldn't have to give them free stuff to do their job.
I've never really understood why I should be tipping a bunch of those people at the end of the year. Often times they're making more than I do. And I've never worked at a job where I get tips, most of the time, I don't even get a holiday bonus or any sort of other reward at the end of the year.
@@johnathin0061892 Yes, although the benefits package isn't as good as it used to be at the USPS due to UPS and FedEx lobbyists, they do still make more than enough that there shouldn't be any need for tips or bribes.
Just don’t get involved. If you have a scan it’s no longer your worry. If customers ask state or send shipping info.
Don’t let the drama affect you!!
Thank you for watching 🤟
I had a package from NY going to NJ...take a trip all the way to CA just to go all the way back to NJ. Took a total of 11 days...
That's crazy! Someone throw that package on the wrong truck. Thank you for watching 🤟
I didn’t realize he difference between acceptance scan and received scan. I using the scan sheet method.
Yeah I personally don't have any experience with the scan sheet but from my research, there are a lot of people saying ebay won't accept those. Thank you for watching 🤟
@@SecondChancePicker my post office made me use it since it was more than five packages a day.
If it works for you then no worries. They have to scan every package, it's policy and their policy doesn't have any exceptions for amount or having to use scan sheet. I just tell them I sell on multiple platforms and can't do a scan sheet. But if it works for you then I wouldn't worry about it.
15 years of ebay and the usps has got about a 65% delivery rate of all packages sent or received. they are just gonna get worse not better.
Thank you for watching 🤟
IMHO, the priority mail is more or less a scam. There's no way of knowing if you actually got the service you paid for and hardly any of the USPS services are guaranteed to show up any time in particular. It may say 2 or 3 days, but that's just for marketing, they don't actually promise that it will be delivered that quickly.
In the case of your order, I'm guessing that they tossed it into the trailer that wasn't even going to leave until full, whenever that happened.
I totally agree. Thank you for watching 🤟
I have two post office locations near my house, one post office has great service, helpful, scan items within a few hours and answer any questions I have. The other post office may or may not be there after lunch, takes a day or two scan items, but are nice and answer questions. It depends on the employee's at the location some are good some are bad at their job.
Yes unfortunately sometimes you even have to go hunting for post offices. I'm glad you have options tho. Thank you for watching 🤟
I've sold over 20,000 items on eBay and never had any issues
Thank you for watching 🤟
Liars gotta lie
Good for you. How about the thousands of people across the country that are having issues/problems? Try keeping your narcisism under control.
ha bullshit
Try packing your orders better
