Hi Karue, I think your tennis lessons are the most helpful! somehow it all makes sense to me! It’s way more detailed! And it goes straight to the point! I wish you good luck in your professional endeavors, and I am following you every step of the way! I live in Sydney Australia, I have a court in my complex! It will be my absolute honor to have you here playing a match or two if you ever come down under one day!
What I really like of yur videos is that you have a warm and joyful mien but already you have real profesional tennis experience. I found so many tennis players and coachs (in person or youtubers) have a bit of resentment to tennis and they drop over you some hopeless feelings about the game. I think tennis is a great sport and I had a lot of fun since I was trying to overhead swing ending like Rafa on my childhood (and hitting the fence almost always). Sometimes improving strokes lead us to a bigger resposability on our macths and to be more serious and have less fun. I really like your positive/joy aproach, you talk a lot about your positive feelings, sometimes in a subtle way but I think it makes a lot of diference to a person who is learning and getting deep in this sport. I'm very interested how to became how did you build yourself this way, for the moment I'm enjoying and learning from your channel, thank you!
i tried this change of positioning on return of serve and i observed that this starts a little thinking process in the server, which reduces his consistency noticeable.
I did this against a big server and he started double faulting. It was insane. I stood super far forward so he saw me whilst serving and when the ball is tossed and he cannot see me, I moved back to get time …
I have tried all of these except being pro-active. I'm always reacting to serves. I'll try reading/guessing and covering 2 out of 3 spots on the return. helpful stuff bro!!!!
I could be wrong, but it seemed to me Pete Sampras hit played at his 60% velocity returns and ground strokes when returning except on break points where he hit 70-80% velocity giving the server a new look and mess up the server's timing. Some call it pulling the trigger. I call it, move up a gear, but he didn't play in that higher gear all the time, otherwise the opponent would get used to it. Hold back till you need it. It was just amazing Pete was playing safe when others were playing all out. It didn't hurt to have his serve and hold serve all the time.
@Matthew Park I don't agree with this assessment at all. If you look at any ATP doubles match, the UTRs are very similar and yet they have several successful poaches.
Awesome, awesome, awesome content!!! Just what advanced and intermediate players have been _dying_ to see on YT! I will never return the same after this - I was one of those guys who just STOOD THERE and got slapped with aces and service winners. NO MORE.
Superb. I was waiting for the noisy bike passing by to see that timeless expression you had last time...lol. You belong back in the ATP my friend. Cheers!
Very good instructions. Ii teach and am always learning. I have used alot of karue s ideas and his friend marcos also. I think this will be girons year. Keep grinding and winning those tie breakers. So key to breaking through. Peace out
What do you think about Medvedev's approach to returning so far behind the baseline? I've started doing that in low level recreational matches occasionally and it trips people out. You get plenty of time to wind up and swing at the ball even though you sacrifice the angle (which no one is hitting in the lower levels).
Lots of players are doing that on tour (thiem, Nadal, zverev). I particularly think it is a great strategy. You have plenty of time to return the serve and start the point neutral. Might be more difficult against very precise servers but besides that, I recommend it. If going back increases how many returns you make, the server will feel the pressure.
This is great stuff. How might your approach change in doubles where you have the opposing net player to worry about and the returners target is much smaller?
Hi Karue - would you please give a quick advice (or ideally record a video) on how to best handle low pace second serves. I usually have more problems with low pace second serves because they are easy to overhit. I usually resort to slices on both forehand and backhand side because I have a better control and aiming that way. Does that sound like a reasonable approach? (I am talking about 3.5-4 level here)
Great instructions. - I would like to hear about how to formulate post-match take action items - esp. when you lost a match. How do you go about zeroing on what happened, how it happened and how can make sure you perform the right remedies in the training following the match day.
Thank you so much for the great instruction.you are a very Smart Coach. Keep the Valuable instruction coming. i have used a lot your Tips in my Teaching. Thanks again.
Lol. I was watching the Naomi Osaka documentary the other night, and they mentioned your name and I was like (to my girlfriend) "oh that's Kerue! He's my coach!" and then I realised that I've never met you and I'm just a random guy out there in the world watching your videos. But really great content Kerue - love the format of hitting on court and then bringing it back. Also loved your hitting vids with Naomi. Really helpful to just watch top players hitting to one another.
Im 4 minutes in and im already hitting the thumbs up. I just had to tell my homeboy that his eyes are so big. I can see where hes looking from the parking lot
That reminds me of a classic: Attack with Nick Bollettieri. There are some points in teaching that are quite the same direction. Keep on creating great tennis content!!!
What is your string tension? I notice your middle main string is moving a lot, so it must be low or old strings. return of serve is my secret weapon. you can gain control of the point right away if you move properly on the return. Excellent video.
Wow! Another great video!👏👏👏👏 I’ll wait until complete the 3 videos with wishes . Please , do you not forget some tips to especial return against a leftie. Thanks mate💪🎾
I start in the same position for every return point except break point second serve where I move up or or back. I get a lot of double faults. Either the sever senses something wrong after he looks to see if I'm ready and is uneasy or they try something new to counter the new position. Against some people I get 30% double faults.
Thanks for all your great content mate!👌🏽 If you are going to continue with the return of serve, could you explain the best grips for both forehand and backhand (one handed backhand included)? Congrats from Spain!🙌🏽
Trying to predict his shot takes up way too much of my ram space. I can't walk and chew gum at the same time out there. The 2 things I do are: I take large, exaggerated side steps while he's serving. Back and forth till he hits it. This throws off his choice of target a bit. If I can handle his 1st serve I'll move inside the baseline. I almost always move well in on the 2nd serve. Again, if I can handle it. This puts on pressure. Think about when someone does that to you. It's el sucko. Both pays dividends. And I don't have to think about it. As we all know, "Thinking only hurts us." 4.5 guy
Such a coincidence this video came up, I played earlier today and left the court with the conclusion I really need to improve my return of serve! I lost so many points today :( I look forward to using your tips next game!
Hey could you do a video covering tips & tricks to playing indoor tennis? I come from a country where we only have outdoor tennis cuz of the hot weather and I'm having a hard time adjusting.. could you please cover this?
My personal notes so far: 1. Pay attention to the type of serve they refer (eg slice restrictions) - PROACTIVE 2. Toss - more to the right or left? 3. Body position of opponent. 4. Don't get stuck cover 2/3 serves 5. Change tactics if it's not working. - MAKE ADJUSTMENTS Move back, forward, 6. Predict the serve so they're serving where you want to return... This seems difficult... But I think this will come with experience? - 🐈 & 🐁 7. Make the return no matter how
Hey Coach Karue, what was the return grip you were using in the clips that you showed at the beginning of the video? It is something similar to the Djokovic return grip, so I am keen to know. Thanks!👍
How to return serve - as the serve is hit: 1) Grimace + pull sex face 2) As serve is hit start charging the net 3) Close eyes 4) Jump 5) Try to hit ball has hard as possible Pro tips: - go for the line - yell "partaaaay" as you hit the ball I hope this helps!
bro, great informative video!! thank you for putting it out there. I am trying to video myself playing, so my question is : what height is the camera set at and what camera/phone do u use to record? also what distance from the baseline? i love how it captures you clearly but also the court and opponent on the other side Once again thank you!!
I think it probably a video he was making when also doing the tests on the Vcore Pro line. I think Karue plays within a week / 2 maybe to get a feel for it

I appreciate when you show your misses/forced errors in training. Makes the learning aspect much more genuine for us viewers too. Great content mate.
Dope content as usual. Wish this was published prior to my match last week lol. Keep it up Karue!
Thanks! 😁

It really helps, especially when they lose confidence in their favourite serve spots.

Your channel is one of the best in tennis! Keep up the great work!
You are amazing at explaining this, truly the best on the internet ever
Thank you!
Thank you! We don't see this kind of stuff a lot, super interesting !
Hey Karue,
Would also love to see a video on return strategy for doubles given that someone poaching at net adds a lot of pressure on the return.
Returning is VERY hard in dubz
@Matthew Park I don't agree with this assessment at all. If you look at any ATP doubles match, the UTRs are very similar and yet they have several successful poaches.
This stuff is gold. I’ve been looking for this channel for years.
This is a great video that really helps in the match situations. Thank you. Can you also add some pointers on how to be better returner in doubles ?
Thank you! And yes I will put it on our list

Return of serve is really fun. The better the serve the more fun I find the return challenge.
Practical stuff... Commendable when you're re actually doing it... Thanks...
Awesome video. Thank you for your advice and thoughts on the return.
I saw you play once, in Memphis. I recall your strong return game.
In the freezing Memphis cold!! Hahah had a good tournament, ended up winning the following week event in Little Rock
@@KaruesellHQ It was indeed cold, but a few degrees warmer within 30ft. of the crazy French Canadian from Indiana U--he was in sustained meltdown.

Perfect timing ahead of a match tomorrow! Testing the Vcore Pro or thinking about switching from the 95?

If nobody mentioned Monfils vs. Isner at Toronto 2021 then I'm going this. Monfils took this to the level.

Nope
Hey Coach Karue, what was the return grip you were using in the clips that you showed at the beginning of the video? It is something similar to the Djokovic return grip, so I am keen to know. Thanks!👍
Great video! What do you mean by "hitting the spot"? Is "the spot" where the returner has more difficult contact with the ball?
I mean someone who hits close to the corners of the service box often, with precision
You should switch my man. VCP97 310 better feel/connection/feedback than your VC95… and bigger SSpot. Just put 2-4grams at 12 to enhance free power.
How to return serve - as the serve is hit:
1) Grimace + pull sex face
2) As serve is hit start charging the net
3) Close eyes
4) Jump
5) Try to hit ball has hard as possible
Pro tips:
- go for the line
- yell "partaaaay" as you hit the ball
I hope this helps!
Awesome video! Are you switching to the Vcore 97D do you feel it needs any mods? Hows the return of serve with this stick vs the 95Vcore?
Not switching! Good racket but still like the 95 better
How're you liking the VCORE pro HD vs the vcore 95?
Nice Yonex racket. Which Vcore Pro is that?

Is spot server, btw, a server that can aim and hit specific spots?
If so, do you consider that server a tougher server than a “rocket launcher”?
Yes just someone who consistently hits close to the lines. And yes I do. Much rather play someone serving bombs but not hitting good spots
Haha I saw you at Indian Wells
Hello!
So it seemed like there was almost no analysis or direction on what indicators to look for in terms of body motion / toss / racket movement etc to look for from the sever that can indicate where the serve is going to go. I'm feeling kind of disappointed with this video.
