Do not take any of my comments as an indication that I do not support the police. I'd be very tempted to try and fight that bull-crap ticket, you have enough videos _showing_ how much wake you throw. That was some nice jazz at that bar in Cocoa!
Yes same here. I hate things like this. Police should be working for us to keep us safe. Not working against us. But I see the same here. mobile speeding camera's are used most of the time at places that are perfectly safe and just ask for higher speeds than allowed instead of putting them par example in our street once a month where 30 km/h is allowed but most drive slower because in some area's even 30 is too fast. and 1 or 2 times a day some idiot will drive past with maybe 60. that is super dangerous and should be handled. But no that will not cover the costs. even worse. will not generate money. The place they put it is along a road without side roads. the few locations with side roads have traffic lights and mounted camera's no problems there. but in between there is nothing. no pedestrians, no houses nothing. just straight open safe road. two lanes each side with a wide 4 meter grass patch in between and on the outsides grass too and there only 80 is allowed and 95% will drive at speeds between 90 and 95 because it is and feels safe and natural. But there they will hide a camera halfway to just get money. Also got some parking fines in my life that were not correct. Objected to them with a letter that explained why they were not correct and why it was ok to park there ( signs not visible behind plants, signs not repeted after crossings etc. and in most cases they were removed from my name. Just make sure that the effort does not get to much compared to the fine to pay. unless it is just out of principle.
I had the exact same thing happen to my Dad and I on July 4, 1976, in Jupiter of all places. The officer claimed we damaged his patrol BOAT, and he had to call another officer , to come bring him to catch us. We wanted to go see the damage and photograph it, took us an hour to head back south, to see the patrol boat. The damage consisted of a small sag in his aluminum rub rail, caused by electrolysis. When my Dad heard my comment , he uttered a couple of choice words. He was immediately placed in handcuffs and brought to the Palm Beach county Jail. Cost $350 to bail him out that evening. We hired an attorney to appear in court for us. He charged $50 to appear, the fine was $50, he sent the balance of. $250 to us in New Orleans. At the time we had a 1973 Hatteras Yacht Fish. I corresponded with you, several months ago. Your friend in Pennsylvania, bought our next boat, a 1979 58 Hatteras cockpit Motor Yacht.
I'm glad you have a great time in Cocoa! We live on the Northern end of Cocoa, just N of the 528(beachline) bridge in High Point, on the Indian River. You're right Cocoa Village is amazing!
Congrats on the attitude of not letting it ruin your day. As anyone who has driven through the states of Louisiana in past years or Georgia to the present knows: ya gotta pay for those officers and their equipment somehow.
It is always nice when other boaters are using proper passing etiquette. I can't tell you how many sport-fishs have sped past us throwing huge wakes, breaking dishes, knocking over chairs, etc.
I worked for the agency in our state that regulated traffic and marine courts (among others). I was shocked to find out that all of the jurisdictions basically looked at ticket fines as revenue and actually would tell the law enforcement agencies how much money they were expected to bring in, regardless of whether that many people were breaking the law or not. It's ten percent safety, and 90 per cent revenue generation, and that's just the way it is. And, non-residents are always looked at as the safest targets, because they don't vote or live there.
I would take your video, specs of Triton and whatever else is pertinent and go to the local TV news and let them do some investigative journalism. Police departments and Mayors hate when they get caught scamming the public.

Unfortunately without video evidence, it's your word against theirs and hard to fight.. you were wise just to pay the fine to move on and forget about it..
Too bad it was not video documented on your GPS electronics to prove them wrong like you said probably a speed trap and that’s what they look for to make Revenue in that area
Shouldn't have signed the ticket and don't allow them onboard. If he threatened to arrest you, I know you aren't the type of person to do this, but if someone reading this is, you can legally shoot them. This happened in Florida, and has set federal precedent and stopped title 14 section 89. Supreme court also ruled it legal. Sources below: Daniel Szabo shot at coast guard members trying to board him and was only charged with failure to stop since the boarding was illegal. "A federal jury has found a man accused of firing at a U.S. Coast Guard crew not guilty of both weapons charges handed down in an indictment by a grand jury in September. Daniel Michael Szabo, 41, was facing a possible life prison sentence for charges of trying to kill a Coast Guard officer during a boarding and using a firearm while committing a violent crime. But jurors on April 6 only found Szabo guilty of failing to stop his vessel when ordered to do so by the Coast Guard." "John Bad Elk v. U.S.,177 U.S. 529. The Court stated: “Where the officer is killed in the course of the disorder which naturally accompanies an attempted arrest that is resisted, the law looks with very different eyes upon the transaction, when the officer had the right to make the arrest, from what it does if the officer had no right. What may be murder in the first case might be nothing more than manslaughter in the other, or the facts might show that no offense had been committed.”
Oh that makes perfect sense, shoot an officer over a speeding ticket and spend 100k to try to prove you are a sane person not committing a crime and shouldn't go to jail for life. To give advice to people in this forum to shoot a police officer is about as low as it gets. You really should seek mental help.
@@jwyzdm Always that one idiot. Funny how these people can't have a conversation without throwing insults. Lets hope my first line caught her attention as this is her style, insult people don't use facts and laws. It's not a "speeding ticket" as at that point it would be a false arrest if he didn't sign the ticket. You really should seek mental help if you think arresting someone over going 7 knots or even giving them a ticket is reasonable. PS There is this thing called public defenders and if you got a lawyer any money spent would be reimbursed when you win in a counter suit, as this is also federal precedent, meaning other judges have to go off this ruling and you would win rather quick as the charges would be dropped before you got a lawyer. You are out of your depth here. It's one thing to not agree with me, you don't see me posting this on other peoples comments, I even state he doesn't seem to be the person to try and do this, but if a cop tries to falsely arrest you, tries to board your boat illegally, legally defend yourself, your family, and your property like any sane person would as ruled by the Supreme court and federal judge in Florida where this video takes place If you wouldn't defend your family and just let them get attacked and arrested, by all means do you, not all of us are like you and once again you don't see me going around posting this on others comments as I get not everyone has my same ideals nor I theirs. I can assure you that a 65’ Hatteras is quite capable of generating 4’ wakes with ease. Whether or not you were at the time is between you and the officer. Chances are he has a dash or body cam. I bet you’d be surprised by the footage. Maybe you could request it with a FOI application? Or chalk it up to operating expenses and enjoy the ride.
I get where you are coming from, but you might want to get out of that habit. It's far more common to just say knots as your speed. Saying knots per hour feels redundant redundant in the common marine vernacular. A knot is by itself a unit of speed: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knot_(unit)

I didn't realize they had revenue generating speed traps on the water too.
How much alcohol does it take to cause liver damage?
Long-term intake of more than 30 g of absolute alcohol per day increases the risk of alcoholic liver disease; liver disease is nearly certain in long-term consumption in excess of 80 g of absolute alcohol per day.
I considered myself a moderate drinker like you guys and started experiencing some issues that are irreversible, take care guys...
We get full bloodwork done every year. Sometimes twice a years since I use a drug for my psoriasis. Happy to say both our livers are doing great!
@@tryingnottosink9107 Thats great news since you guys give them a work out daily. Great videos!
Lekker man lekker
You need camera, security type. One pointed backwards, and one forwards. Recording all the time on a loop. The price of that ticket would have just about paid for them.
Yes he could also pull footage for the videos.
Nice....
Very sorry. I was joking with my people there that they should harass you for no Roger Outs in a long time. I didn’t think they would do that to put the point home. I’ll see what I can do about getting the citation cancelled, but it might be too late now.
Take it from a trucker. Cameras are your friend.
Hire an attorney maybe he get it down to a non-moving violation like a seatbelt it won't show up on your record that's what I do I live here in Las Vegas I got a commercial driver's license I don't ever let a ticket go on my record
We have moved on. Not worth the aggravation.
The ticket didn’t bother me, the dancing did…. Enjoy 😉
I agree!
Knots per hour?? I guess that could be a measure of acceleration... :)
Good job calling out dishonorable cops
Unfortunately welcome to florida they get wild out here🤦♂️🤦♂️
Knot, by definition, is a distance per hour so it is merely called knot, not knot per hour.
We know that but not all our viewers do.
Crooked Cop who gives others a bad name. He picked on you because of the size of your boat. Too him big boat = big money.
Ed you have to get rid of the ponytail it’s just not you! been a subscriber since the beginning and I do enjoy ur videos best of luck
I'll just call it the way it is, the Marine patrol saw a big 65 ft Hatteras yacht and saw dollar signs, and gave you a ticket simply for moving...
Knots IS per hour.
The fact that you had a boat registered out of state had absolutely nothing to do with why they pulled you over I am sure.
i live in ft. pierce. next time youre coming tell me. well get together.
We are keeping our boat in Titusville now and will be in the area in September and next May.
Fuzz ruining the fun? Yes. 😪
Sources below:
Daniel Szabo shot at coast guard members trying to board him and was only charged with failure to stop since the boarding was illegal.
But jurors on April 6 only found Szabo guilty of failing to stop his vessel when ordered to do so by the Coast Guard."
"John Bad Elk v.
Please troll someone else now or I will just block you, thanks.
@@ThatCarGuy "tries to board your boat illegally, legally defend yourself, your family, and your property" it was a speeding ticket dude, a freaking speeding ticket and you are talking guns. Get help, I'll take the block with pride.
@@jwyzdm And once again troll it's not just a speeding ticket if he refused to sign it. The cop would then literally attack and arrest him. Blocked enjoy trolling others, you can not even back up your side with anything but emotion.
I would take it to court...Can't you show records of your speeds from your computer logs?
We have moved on. Not worth the aggravation.
7 knots too sow we babes humans from soed lives no get saved we need 70 knots
Fight that. You have enough to show conditions.
Too late. I didn't want to deal with the bad energy during the trip.
Just stop Police corruptions in FL . Go to the judge and explain to him, write a letter to the Governor of Florida and send your video to them
We have moved on. Not worth the aggravation.
Nothing worse than a crooked cop 😕
the word 'knots' means nautical miles per hour thus says knots per hour is redundant, your speed is 7 knots.
Maybe the cop was low on his quota for the month you've never run that boat fast at all
Couldn’t you take pictures of the speeding boats and fight the ticket in court? You could always claim his radar gun was off calibration!!!
We have moved on. Not worth the aggravation.
My cynical take, based on personal experience, is that your home port triggered his profiling and targeting you.
A knot is a measurement of speed per hour. No such thing as a knot per hour. A knot is 1.15 statute miles per hour. Just saying.
I get where you are coming from, but you might want to get out of that habit. It's far more common to just say knots as your speed. Saying knots per hour feels redundant redundant in the common marine vernacular.
A knot is by itself a unit of speed:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knot_(unit)
Yes, 1 knot is 1 nautical mile per hour.
"4ft wakes coming over my bow" 😂 at 7 knots? sure buddy. You got that on camera officer? Sounds like bs then threatened jail over 7 knots was just to shut you up. Typical scare tactics for frivolous tickets. Gence why youll never go back through.
We haven't been back through since. They got their $125 fine but lost thousands in tourist money.
You’ve got to have the worst steering system I have ever seen on a boat!!
Going in a straight line you are constantly turning the wheel to starboard then to port.your hands and arms must be exhausted after a day on the water.I get exhausted just watching.
I have watched this episode and I think you got ripped off by a rogue cop. Since when does a officer administer a ticket without a judge.
What misdemeanor? This makes me angry, $350 I watched your video of your wake. My father’s boat at 2500 rpm would create a large wake
not what your doing. When you get back from Bermuda I would persue a complaint against Jupiter Fl. and get my money back.
