Hey, no need for the explanations; we all get it. Sometimes I regret not having used bookstores with great sales at a convenient distance, but maybe it's for the best. 😁 Aside from the Twain, Bonhoeffer, and Dumas stuff, I'm not familiar with any of these beyond a vague "I think I've heard of that" level. Well, I've seen that "Seinfeld" episode about a "pig man," but I doubt there's a connection to that book. 🤪 In any case, I hope you enjoy the new acquisitions. That's cool about your grandfather being a WWII fighter pilot. And in case I haven't mentioned it yet, I dig the new shelves. Have a good one!
No shade for the abridged CoMC, that's a very long drawn out book. That specific one could be a poorly abridged version of a bad translation, but on principle abridged is fine! Josie from Josie Talks About Books started with a graphic novel version, then read an abridged version, then the full version, and it's now her favorite book. I read several of the Janet Evanavich books when I was a kid bc they were around the house, I liked em well enough but at this point don't remember much. I think Katherine Heigl was in the movies. "Night of the Fox" is my fav Jack Higgins.
@@zachreads Yep that’s the actress. I couldn’t remember her name on the spot. Glad to hear the books are ok. I have about ten of them now. I am also trying an abridged audiobook after reading the actual book to compare. It is John Grisham’s The Client. I haven’t listened to an abridged audiobook yet.
@@DrL_Reads Hey, I read The Client a LONG time ago. Actually, it earned me an "elbow to the ribs." Being absorbed by it caused me to miss the summons to collect some metallic trinket for jumping through a ridiculous series of hoops at the science and engineering hoedown my fine high school educators shipped me to after the tranquilizing and crating. Grisham was by far the best thing about that day. I remember thinking The Client wasn't quite as good as The Firm, but it was close.
@@DrL_Reads Well, it's been quite a while for both, but I barely looked up the entire time I was reading the book, and certain moments still linger. The movie ... eh, I know I watched it at some point. Didn't work for me as an adaptation. Didn't do much for me as it's own thing. I'm sure it was properly rewound and returned to the video store on schedule. Probably.

@@BryanM.R.-prionic1 Some of them I haven’t even heard of but they are definitely worth trying for 5 cents!

@ Both are on my list. I’m hoping the firm is better than the movie.
