Didn’t realize what we had until I watched your informative video. The ornaments were my husband’s grandmother. They hang on our Christmas Tree every year.❤️ Now I know the history of them. Thank-you.😃
As somebody who's been collecting vintage SB's for a few years now, it never fails to amaze me how reasonably priced they are on the 2nd-hand collectors' market. Maybe it's because Corning cranked out tens of millions of them back in the day. Who knows. All I do know is I love the visual aesthetic of those old ornaments. They have a certain character to them that's lacking with modern ornaments.
Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us “rescuers” out here! I love watching your videos and hang on every word. It blows my mind that something so fragile has survived throughout the years. I love the history behind them and have really started collecting mid-century Christmas. Thank you again for doing your homework and sharing what you have learned!

I have developed a love for these fragile, precious ornaments. It’s amazing that someone throughout all these years cared enough to take good care of them so I can “rescue” them! Haha. Thanks for your videos!
Thank you so much for your wonderful channel, her in the UK we don't have a lot of choice in vintage Christmas ornaments so my Daughter and I are very happy when we find vintage item's, thank you once again from Pam a d Vickie xx
Pam and Vickie, Thanks for watching. I have fond memories of traveling in the UK. We have Woolworth's in common for buying Christmas ornaments. I really enjoy Paul Seaton's book: A Sixpenny Romance. Paul's website is fantastic talking about the company and Christmas. www.woolworthsmuseum.co.uk/. Cheers and Merry Christmas.
@@jodypritzl8250 Hi Jody thank you for the link looking forward to it we will watch it together, my first job was with Woolworths in Liverpool 1976, I have fond memories of all the Christmas Dec's they sold, so glad my Daughter loves the old Dec's too, today we found an original vintage feather tree , feel so blessed !, We will be following your Wonderful content, thank you again, wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas and thank you again we have learned so much !, bless you from Pam and Vickie xxxx
I love your ornaments and white tree. My father was born in 1909 and he put his white tree in my bedroom every year .when he died in 1989 it was looking pretty bad.
Very educational. A walk down memory lane. Sadly I didn't save the few family bulbs given me. I do however have a weather and worn reflective Santa face fiberglass beard tree topper I cherish. 💖🎄💖
You did it, thank you! We have no power/internet and won’t for another day here in Michigan. Oh the joys of being here! I finished the book and then carried it around for 2 days memorizing its content! Such a great book! I want to share a couple of ornaments are the net is up that are unsilvered you might find interesting! I loved your tissue covered orange/grapefruit trays! Gotta do that now! Just keep doing this- today’s video was over the moon great. Can’t wait to see it on a larger screen! Good job! Gay from. Michigan! 😎
I love your videos, thanks for this, it inspired me to reach out to my mom for some ornaments she's eighty, she grew up in Chester Pennsylvania one of five, my grand parents loved Christmas, they had what seemed like a countless amount of these ornaments, all kinds of shapes and styles, I loved going through them, decorating the tree's, it made Christmas very special , I feel like we're lucky to have this in our lives, merry Christmas!!!
Marcie, I can't believe I hadn't paid tribute to Wellsboro before. The story is incomplete without the folks that made the ornaments. I'll correct that in upcoming videos.
You have amassed an amazing collection, the white tree really shows off the beautiful colors. I have some ornaments with a cork holding in a string to hang from ? have you run across any like that ?
Hi Jodi, Will you be doing a presentation at the next Golden Glow of Christmas Past convention? I think it would be very well received! I know I would enjoy seeing you and your vast collection of ornaments, as would many of the other members would. Just a thought.
Jody🎄 Again, I would like to say thank you for your knowledge and thank you for doing these videos 😊 I have certainly gained so much knowledge on the collection that I have. Unfortunately, I cannot enjoy it anymore because I became Boneless because of a health condition so my collection sits in storage. 🙁
Hi - This info is very helpful, and I loved hearing all the facts and seeing all your beauties. I've just bought a box of ornaments with some newer tinsel. But I'm not sure if the ornaments are original or newer (recently painted). Would you have any insight on how to recognize original vs. newly created? Would there be a way to send you/post some photos? Thank you so much!
Kim, Thanks for the question and I'll be sure to cover the cap close up in a video. Early Premier caps were stamped with Premier then the company changed to a very specific style of cap with a plain round circumference with elongated straight springs. If you watch the Premier video starting at about 4:39 you can see the caps. Hope that helps, my to-do list grows longer. Merry Christmas.
You know, sometimes you think you've repeated yourself five times and then realize, nope, you need to say more. I have alluded to Otto Kohler and his patented decorating methods in Tinsel Beauties and War Years Ornaments but haven't gone into enough detail. I'll work on that for an upcoming video. Thanks for your interest to learn more. Merry Christmas.
Luke, kinda complicated. B.Wilmsen Company was one of the first vendors to Woolworth's selling tinsel and ornaments. In about 1965, the Wilmsen family sold the firm and it ended up with Trim-A-Tree products who used the Holly name. So you'll likely find the B.Wilmsen name with the Holly brand. If you're talking about Holly Jolly, well that's another story.
There are more reproductions of stencils versus transparents. The eighty year old bulbs would have a dull or somewhat tarnished cap that said Made in US of A. If it has a bright shiny cap then there is a chance it is not an original Corning blown bulb. Merry Christmas.
I have 4 mystery balls that I can't make sense of. Two are spherical unsilvered with metal caps, one blue, one red. I don't know if they are transparent or opaque. I don't know how to tell. Two others appear to have been made by the same manufacturer, but are a sphere that tapers at the bottom into a smaller sphere which tapers into a spear. The MYSTERY is that they are misshapen. The family story was they were bought during "the war" and were produced domestically by inexperienced glass blowers. Any thoughts?
My opinion is rarely was an ornament signed. Shiny Brite did sell an ornament personalization kit which may have been signed by the person who made it but that would be a one-off. In talking with Philip Franke of the Franke family, the only signed ornaments were ones that were given to family members. If you have a signed ornament send me a picture through booksbyjody.com. Thanks for watching Lauren and Merry Christmas.

What's the best and safest way to clean vintage ornaments without damaging the finish?
Luke, hold it gently and use a fan brush to wipe away the dust. Other than that, think of each blemish as resiliency and testimony to survival.
Awesome information Jody. Always love your videos. How can you tell a Corning versus Premier cap on an ornament since both are made in the USA?
